This place does not even deserve one star. Please let this review be a fair warning. I wish I listened to the Yelp reviews before stepping foot in this awful establishment. Worst dining experience ever! I am not only disgusted by their food but their service. It wasn't really crowded on the Friday night I came here with my friends. I noticed mostly tourists and locals in here. Out dated decor and lousy servers. My soda took over 15 minutes. The food is disgusting. I had steamers before and they are not filled with sand after shucking the membrane off and rising it in the water. It was 1lb for $20 and it was completely inedible. I explained to the waitress the situation politely and she said that's how they make the steamers here. If you want a mouth full of sand go for this dish. I also ordered the seafood platter which contained about 5 shrimps, one scallop, and no more than 5 small pieces of calamari on top of a few fries. $20- are you kidding me? Lobster bisque was disgusting. It didn't even taste like lobster. It tasted as though they only used butter and added orange food coloring in it. The lobster Alfredo was the worst. There was only a small claw which tasted very rubbery like it was from the can and the sauce was bland and taste like mayo. They also over cooked the pasta. Too soft. $20 for this is a joke. This place is a complete rip off. The waitress also forgot the bread rolls. Reminded her and she never brought it out. Such bad service. This place is horrible. I have no idea why they are still in business. They also include 18% gratuity which explains the horrible service here. No matter how bad the service is they still get a descent tip. Never coming back and if anyone ask me about this place I would tell them to go to Embargo across the street and my horrible experience here. read more

We came into Fresh Ketch over the July 4th weekend. Main street Hyannis was absolutely electric! We walked into the bar just in time for the KJ's opening rendition of David Grey's "Babylon". Dude wasn't too bad, but just took it way too serious. Things got progressively awkward. It just seemed like he was trying WAY too hard to be funny. On a positive note- the place was PACKED. Mainly 20's and 30's. The bartenders were on point and the drinks were great! I recommend checking it out, just try not to let the KJ ruin your night. read more

Glad we stopped...had the Jamaica jerk chicken sandwich and chowder and crab cakes....best crab cakes I've had in years, could've had a little more of that sauce they drizzle on top...but i could've asked for more....jerk chicken was over the top with flavor.....great chowder......very good time!!! read more

I visited Fresh Ketch on October 17, 2015 for lunch with as a party of 5. Three people in my party were visiting Cape Cod for the first time and they wanted to try the typical tourist foods (i.e. oysters, clams, chowder, etc.). The waitress was attentive, checking in on us twice before we placed our order (we were translating the menu to our visitors) but she failed to let us know they were out of oysters, steamers, crab cakes, and onion rings until we started ordering. She said that it was the restaurant's last day of the season, which I completely understand but maybe she could have let us know before we spent 15 minutes looking at the menu?! Already hungry and tired, we decided to stay. We ordered the last two of their oysters, half a dozen little-neck clams, lobster bisque, seafood stew, lobster mac and cheese, and an order of fries. The seafood stew and lobster mac and cheese were delicious while the lobster bisque just didn't taste quite right (maybe they were scraping the last of the pot?). This place is decent considering you have the opportunity to sit outside on Main St. and enjoy the people watching while you sip an Arnold Palmer, and munch on Calimari. What more do you want? The place is not a "fine dining" restaurant - its basically "Pub Grub" paired with decently priced entree's with the opportunity to sit curb-side on Main. I'm glad we didn't try the food. We only came for karaoke, so I can only speak for the bar experience. Crowd: horrible. We were packed elbow-to-elbow with the drunk college-kid cape summer crowd. Just terrible people. The bartenders: absolutely amazing. I spent several minutes watching them scurry around taking care of 10 people at a time without missing a beat. Karaoke itself: ugh. The KJ was crude, dropping f-bombs left and right, and wasted 3-4 minutes between songs by talking, when he could have gotten twice as many singers in. The rotation was huge, that's understandable. The problem was seeing people that signed-up after us singing before us. Checking the rotation, we had been sitting at 18 in line for over an hour while regulars were brought-in and given precedence. In short, if you're a drunk college kid who enjoys excessive vulgarity, a KJ that won't shut up, wall-to-wall crowds, horrible people surrounding you, and are willing to sing at the end of the night, maybe, because you're not a regular... Coming to the Cape every year, this spot is a must go if you love seafood! It has a great location on Main Street Hyannis and the service is always excellent. Every waiter I've had has been very friendly and accommodated any needs we've had. The lobster Mac n cheese is relatively new and one of the best I've ever had. I highly recommend ordering this if you like lobster Mac n cheese. The stuffed quahogs and strawberry daiquiri were also excellent, first time ordering those was this visit and will definitely be ordering again! read more

I was really hoping for the best. I mean their name has "fresh" right there in it. It was anything but fresh. The stuffed quahog was microwaved to the point of liquefaction. It was more like a porridge. The scallops wrapped in bacon bounced liked little rubber balls and the stuffed shrimp were simply terrible. Two glasses of soda couldn't erase the taste from my mouth. A nice little local dining spot with fresh fish emphasized on the menu. Chicken and steak dishes are also available for those who dislike seafood. You can tell that the fish is fresh when you enter a seafood restaurant and there is no fishy smell. We had cod and salmon, and were both pleased with our dinners. It was a little slow seating but overall pretty food service and nice for families. The clam chowder tasted like flour so I wouldn't order that again. While on the main drag in Hyannis, and in the mood for seafood, we decided on Fresh Ketch. We were seated outside and the server was very attentive and efficient. We ordered the steamers appetizer, which was delicious. For my entree I had fruits de mer, (linguini with lobster, shrimp, clams, scallops and mussels in a garlic and white wine sauce). I was so impressed because they included not just one or two lobster claws, but 4! I was so excited about its presentation that I forgot to take a picture! It was really scrumptious. My husband had broiled scallops which was also delicious. My entree was about $25 and I think the scallops dish was $24. We thought this was a very reasonable price for the generous servings. Service was fairly attentive altho she charged us for an extra drink which she took care of. We just split a fried clam platter that was by no means heaping but a good amount of food and pretty well priced at $17.95. Clams were tasty, fries were decent, great cole slaw altho it came in one of those ridiculous little plastic containers. Friend thought his lemonade was weak but the clams made us happy. read more

This is a rather unfortunate restaurant. We came here in hopes of finding some good seafood at a reasonable price and left with a crappy experience, wishing we had gone somewhere else. The meal started off good enough and we were able to get a nice table on the patio. We ordered little necks and oysters for an appetizer and when they finally came out they were not prepared correctly. None of the little necks or oysters were cut from the shell and they were not served with the traditional cocktail sauce and horseradish. Picture just some open shells on a plate served with a sorf of, "here ya go" attitude from out emotionless waitress. After sending them back, we waited an additional 30 minutes to finally be served some properly done appetizers. I ordered fried clam strips and it was as if they had been prepared weeks ago or just completely over cooked. Seriously, how the heck can you go wrong with frying up some clams!? They had the taste and texture of rubber. I understand that seafood restaurants on the Cape have a lot to live up to but this place just completely bombed. I say spend the extra few bucks and sit down to a restaurant that has some class and can prepare seafood correctly. The one saving grace that kept this place from getting one star is that the outdoor patio was actually very nice. I actually enjoyed this place quite a bit, but there were some major flaws that forced me to give it to 2 stars. I would probably give it 2.5 stars. Entrees - I got the seafood over pasta, which included clams, mussels, scallop, lobster and shrimp. It was a pretty good deal at $22. Unfortunately, the clams were not scrubbed properly, and there was sand all over the dish. The white wine sauce it was in was pretty good, though a bit salty. Also, it was supposed to come with garlic bread, but they forgot to bring it out. My friend got the breaded schrod. It was decently tasty. Appetizer - We tried the clam chowder, and it was pretty tasty. Service - Very friendly and accommodating Wine - Really reasonably priced bottles of wine. First off, I have not ordered any food at the Fresh Ketch, so I am only rating my beverage experience. I recently visited the Fresh Ketch on a Saturday night. If you want a good laugh, the Fresh Ketch is where you need to go! They have the worst karaoke ever! The karaoke may have been particularly horrible because it was pushing 11:30 by the time we arrived, and obviously the performers had imbibed in a 'few drinks' Anyway, getting a few drinks in ourselves, watching the performers made for excellent entertainment! I came here with a tour group for lunch. We didn't have to wait long to be served, but I think our waiter Judy was having a bad day, in the beginning. The lobster bisque was really good, and I'm sorry that I didn't order the bowl l instesd of the cup. The fried calamari, shrimp and crab cakes were scrumptious. Like another reviewer, thank goodness for the rolls since that was the bulk of my meal that was edible. I ordered steak tips because they were out of the prime rib. Before I review the food, I do want to say the waiter really tried to give us good services and was very nice. My steak tips first came out so charred it was like eating barbeque coals. I tried to cut the char off and then smother it in the weirdly smooth mashed potatoes to make it work. The waiter came over and insisted on having them make me new tips. My new steak tips came out quickly and as I cut into it, they were really raw. I can eat rare meat, but this was too rare even for my tastes. How I went from char to rare is just sad. The poor waiter offered to wrap them up for me so that I could cook it right at home...no thanks. Big disappointment. My fiance's hamburger seemed to be decent - he ate it without complaints and I filled up on his fries. He was still disgusted with my meal though so I don't think we'll come back. After a long day at the beach and preparing for a 3 hour drive back home I was looking for a casual place to sit and eat some delicious food. Luckily, I came to the Fresh Ketch! I had been craving swordfish all weekend and I was not disappointed! The fresh veggies, amazing mashed potatoes were exactly what i was looking for. If you've been following my reviews from the cape you will guess that I started with, what else, the clam chowder. It was so unmemorable I can hardly describe it here and it was mere hours ago that I ate it. Average. For my meal I had the fried seafood platter. It was good but it is hard to mess up fried food. The portion was large though I will give them that. My wife had the ribs. She said they were on par with ribs you would buy at the grocery store and prepare yourself. Service was friendly but not attentive especially considering we were the ones in there. We came to the restaurant at what I thought would be a busy time (around 730) and by the time we left at 830 the patio was full. We ordered the steamers and they were decent. Slightly chewy but very large in size. When it came to the meal, the sides were excellent but the meats could have been better. I ordered my steak medium rare and it came out medium well. I sent it back and the waitress informed me that the cook was arguing with her that it was cooked perfectly. Come to find out (by how she put it into the system which printed on the receipt), she typed in medium. There was no apology to us by her or any acknowledgment from a manager. She instead informed us that she was going to apologize to the cook. Overall, not that impressed with this place. We were seated in a corner where the AC was blasting directly on us, turning our dinner experience into an episode of Survivor: Antarctica. Sticking to that theme, 2 of us were brought cold soup, and undercooked vegetables (not even thoroughly cut). One upside to this is that the food was actually pretty good. However, considering the plates went for $18+ each, I would've expected these hiccups would be sorted out. I would consider giving this place a second chance, since the potential is there, and this may have possibly been an "off day" so-to-speak. read more
