Great brunch experience! I was pleasantly surprised since this is a chain all throughout NYC. It was packed on a Friday around 11am but we were able to get a booth in the back without a reservation. We started with the banana bread which was good; I liked the jam filling in the middle, but I'm not sure I'd order it again. The Brussel sprouts were a little disappointing; they had too much Asian sesame sauce and were soggy. I loved the bite of lemon ricotta pancake that I tried and the yogurt granola dish was a large portion! The service was fast and great! They refilled our coffees multiple times and let us sit to chat even after we finished eating! The prices were decent for the portion size! My friend, Richard was celebrating his birthday that is the day after mine, so we arranged to go out to Friedman's on 72nd Street just off Columbus Avenue. We had never been there and due to a timing conflict, he had to change our later time, however the restaurant was very accommodating. My wife and I arrived first and I loved the ambiance of their dining room. Our server, Sammy introduced himself and by the end of the evening, I felt that he had become part of our celebration. When our friends arrived we ordered a found of drinks and a few" starters", their broccoli falafel and an order of one of their " sides" their brussel sprouts. In addition we ordered our main courses: a pastrami sandwich,Asian Chicken Salad with their sweet potato fries( the fries were OUTSTANDING),Fish & Chips and a Sesame Salmon Salad. My one complaint was that everything arrived at the same time! And on reflection, everything was delicious however, Sammy did apologize since he explained that normally there's time between courses, but he was so charming and engaging, we were not only forgiving, we couldn't help but admire Sammy's delightful personality. Looking for breakfast on our way to a Saturday matinee Yankee game. This was suggested by Yelp! Glad we choose this place for breakfast. The staff were extremely friendly with Jamal serving us at the bar! Jamal was extremely attentive to us. The location is well maintained and extremely clean. Marble bar and a very nice dining experience. We ordered Mimosas and . Amanda ordered the Nova Benedict and I ordered Pastrami Hash with eggs and wheat toast. Both were delicious. Amanda cleaned her plate. A patron next to us ordered a Bloody Mary, the rim was lined with everything seasoning. We always ask, "Would we come back?" That's the defining question. The salad was not what it used to be. My ordered eggs with pastrami hash he said it was tasteless This is such an easy place for us to come to. We were desperately trying to find a breakfast place that had a varied menu and are so happy to have tried this restaurant. We were immediately greeted by the friendliest host I have ever seen. He was so warm and welcoming, we knew we were off to a great start. For brunch we tried the special salad (watermelon with feta) and the Friedman's club sandwich. A below average but serviceable lunch spot in this area. This location is clean and the service is good with friendly staff. We had the grilled chicken salad which was 50/50. Specifically the salad was fresh and with a perfect amount of dressing but the grilled chicken was Sahara dry. We also had the fried chicken sandwich which was underwhelming. The Yuca fries and were crispy outside and soft inside and went well with the garlic aioli. Unfortunately they were served in a literal pool of garlic oil so the ones at the bottom were too soaked to eat. While I didn't hate it, if you're in the mood for this type of spot I would walk a bit farther north to The Smith ten times out of ten. read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed Friedman's yet, when it's my GO-TO restaurant and I get their food the most. Takeout, delivery, eating inside and outside. They have a great menu with food for any dietary restriction, especially gluten-free. So I have more choices than almost any other place. I will say, their fried chicken is actually my least favorite thing on the menu. It's cooked well, but really has no flavor. My favorite thing is their wings. Seriously the best wings I've ever had. And I've had a lot. I love their dumplings (yes, gluten-free dumplings!). And their reuben is fantastic along with a lot of other things. Nice staff too. Great place! They have several locations and we went to the 72nd st one near Central Park! Grest options for gluten free, vegetarian , vegans. We sat outside in the semi enclosed area with heaters overhead , which worked well. Service was good , friendly and efficient even though outside ! Not sure you can get anymore basic than two besties splitting a burger, chicken and waffle, and gabbing the night away. Great brunch options! We got the shashuka, lemon pancakes (think this is seasonal), and breakfast burrito. My favorite was the shashuka because it is an "out of the norm" item that you don't typically see at brunch places. The bread was well toasted, eggs were perfectly sunny side up, and the sauce was flavorful. The service was good, nothing stand out, but nothing to complain about. This was the best meal I have had in my life! I'm 26 and my order had to be changed originally because their deep fryer went out right before our dinner was made. I ordered a medium rare steak and it was seriously PERFECT! I didn't ask for the salad so I did get to try their mashed potatoes and again the most perfect I've ever had. The food quality is awesome, literally Friedman's made me realize I won't have anything other than pure maple syruptheir attention to detail is so impressive. But that's not why I'm here - what stands out is their service. I ordered the Chicken Swisswich (very good) on Doordash and they ran out of french fries. They simply gave me the order with mashed potatoes but didn't charge me because it's not what I ordered without me even asking. On another occasion there was a small issue with my order and they waived the charge no questions asked. It's a nice touch that they use "gluten free" tooth picks so that you have piece of mind for your meal! The UWS location can get a bit busy, but usually you do not have to wait more than a half hour or 45 min.
