Called in an order. Not once, twice or three times..but 5 times altogether. I've been trying to give this place a chance. All 5 times I've literally waited in the drive thru line for more than 20 minutes. No exaggeration. Only 2 cars in front of me usually. It's outrageous. I worked for friendlys for 8 years about 10 years ago. This NEVER would have been okay. Horrible. I also once asked one of the employees what their restaurant phone number was because they said they hadnt received my order and i thought perhaps i called the wrong store. I was coming home from a Lacrosse game and my wife wanted ice cream so I told her to call this restaurant and place her order and I would pick it up to save some time! My wife called me back and said that the phone kept ringing and no one answered. I stopped and went to the counter and asked about the phone, They said that there was no problem with the phone. I was approached by 3 people that asked if they could help me, I said no thank you I was waiting for a to go order that took 20 minutes to get and it was not busy at all! There were many employees just standing around laughing and fooling around I thought it was very unprofessional! Then the kid that took my order came back to me and said that they were out of Jimmies but had sprinkles, They were out of cherries so that would not be in there. Then to top it off...... They were out of spoons!!!!!!!!!!!! How do you run out of essential ingredients for popular menu items at 8:00 on a SATURDAY NIGHT?? How do you run out of spoons?? Do not go through the drive thru. Ordered two fries and 1 kids chicken tender kids meal. The fries, for $6, were not worth it. The amount received could have gone into one container. The chicken tenders in the kids meal were cold and very tough. The whole thing was a real rip-off. read more

Oh where do I start... This location has recently opened, and we live closer to here than the one in Nashua, despite presently living in Nashua. We had to do stuff tonight, and decided to give it a try since we had a coupon. Understandably we go in at 5 and there's a wait.. Okay, makes sense. We have two kids, and I didn't think anywhere else was going to be much better.... The "waiting area" was absolutely mobbed, like could've been a mosh pit. I had better standing room at a Red Sox game before. But, we stood... Since I am also 6.5 months pregnant, I decide to take my toddler to the bathroom with me. On the walk there I noticed 3 tables that were clear, just not wiped down, and two tables that could seat six with just two customers. Um really??? I've worked in enough restaurants, where are the appropriate hosting skills there.. So we FINALLY get a table. I am holding an OBVIOUS infant, and the person who sat us never asked if we needed a high chair. (Oh, ps, we were at one of the huge booths.) My husband chased someone down, and we got a high chair. Then we waited another 15 minutes for someone to finally show up. We ordered food. A Honey BBQ chicken melt, chicken pops off the kids menu, an ADD ON of mac and cheese (should be 1.99), and one of the burgers, no mayo on it. We waited an hour. The server did bring over goldfish for the kids, one time. Never asked if we wanted more drinks. Never checked in on our food, never told us the progress. I mean, again, I've worked in restaurants. The food ordered takes about 15 mins TOPS. Yes, it was busy. But really? 20 minutes after we sat down a table of 2 sat next to us. (Mind you, they were also in one of the HUGE booths, and the wait area was still full.) They got their food about 15 minutes before us, and it was all messed up. Burgers also. And they kept messing up their drinks. A soda. A DIET coke. How the F does a place mess up a diet coke? This friendly's did! We finally, after asking where ours was, got our kids food. The mac and cheese was so horrible my 11 month old wouldn't eat it. We didn't get chicken pops, we got chicken tenders. Okay, knowing before hand would be nice. A while after my husband and I get our food.. His burger has mayo on it, which he specifically said no to, and had NOTHING else on it. My melt was soggy. Our server never came back, we asked another server to get a manager. She got my husband a burger, we had to feed our 11 month old fries since he wouldn't touch the mac and cheese. We didn't see our server again until she brought us the check. Again, I reiterate, I've worked in restaurants before, but come on. The kitchen messing up is on the kitchen, but salvage your own tip and treat your table respectably. I won't write her name, though I should since she was negligent with us. We left after 7pm. Actually, to be exact, I was in the drivers seat of the car at 710pm. Our kids are supposed to be in bed at 7. We got nothing complicated in our food order. And I wanted ice cream, but I didn't want to waste my time trying to order it since we were next to where they were making it and a manager was asking them why chocolate shakes were taking so long. If you set your expectations to low. And have time to wait. It's not that bad. A marginally better burger than McDonald's. But the place is a disorganized mess. I completely understand that it's new. And it appears the staff wasn't trained / has no idea what they are doing. Place is packed. People can't find their servers. Nice couple next to me never saw theirs and managed to order their meal via no less than 3 employees. Father and son next to them got their meals but the orders were nowhere close to what they ordered. Took about 30 min to get a burger and a kids meal. During the current world wide pandemic, consumers are staying home as requested by our state governments. As we try to get through this we order from our local restaurants and expect the same quality as if we were in the business in person. My delivery order was missing a main entre, and all the fixings that were supposed to come with that meal. This is not rocket science, it is a restaurant. This tells me the staff either does not care to remain in business, or suffer from poor training. Either way, I will never order from them again!!! read more

Very unprofessional workers. They walk around aimlessly and aren't helpful. One lady came up to me looking very confused, and in the grossest manner possible asked "did you order KitKat toppings?" Stopped here today with my mother. Service was good, food came out hot and fresh. Mom ordered the fish and chips - 3 nice cod filets with fresh fries, I ordered the bacon cheeseburger - good burger. This Friendlys just opened recently. We visited today for breakfast. The hostess was friendly and told us we would have a 5minute wait and showed us to a waiting area with a bench to sit. Within 5 minutes the hostess showed us to our table and gave us menus. Our waitress came and took our drink order. The place was very busy. There were quite a few tables that were seated all within a few minutes. The waitress came and took our order. We got served within 10 minutes. We ordered eggs, sausage and toast. It was good. This is the first time we ate breakfast at Friendlys. We love Friendlys burgers and ice cream and will be back for lunches or dinner. I think the staff did well for just opening last week. read more

Traveled to Noshua for a tournament with my family. We came upon a friendly's and thought we can't go wrong with a friendly's right? WRONG! The burger was cold like it was sitting above the vent where the A.C was coming out of. I did have a great waiter however who was understanding enough to cook us a whole new burger charge free. Went in at 1130am on a weekday, maybe 4 patrons already inside, greeted with barely a smile, no crayons were provided to my kids so I got up and got them myself, they ignored us for 15 minutes. We got up to leave as other patrons that arrived after us were getting their drinks. The staff was shocked we had yet to be served but yet they walked by us numerous times. Will never EVER be back. Also, agree with previous reviewers that the layout is awful. Who planned that building, the parking, and drive-thru - its all a mess! read more

In a word, disaster. I've given this place a couple of chances. In the dining room my food was cold and the staff was disorganized. Trying to get someone's attention was a challenge. A week later I tried drive thru and my order was wrong and fries felt like they were days old. The manager should be ashamed of themselves. Staff in stained clothing and nappy unwashed hair with dirty hands this place is going to be shut down shortly. Stay Away!! read more

Short Version: Just don't go here. Save yourself time and money and go somewhere else. This is probably the worst managed establishment I've ever been to. Long Version: My parents and I came here last night to celebrate my grandmother's birthday. She passed away last year but Friendly's was her favorite place to go so it was an easy decision to make. We got there around 6:30, expecting it to be a quick dinner and ice cream. My mom even said "It's Friendly's! We'll be in and out of there in 45 minutes." When we walked in, my attention immediately went to the floor. There were crumbs and wrappers everywhere on the ground. I didn't understand why no one had come to sweep that up. The hostess (who was very sweet) told us it was going to be about a 10-15 minute wait. Totally fine with us, we're extremely patient people. My parents went to sit down on the bench, but when I went to join them even the bench seemed dirty. Almost looked like there were shoeprints everywhere on it. Didn't this place JUST open? How is it that it's THIS dirty? My parents stood to let an elderly person sit down, and there was no place to stand where you weren't in the way. You're either blocking the door or blocking the takeout area. Again, we're patient and flexible people, we dealt with it. We were seated maybe three minutes later and a server greeted us within a few minutes and took our drink order. Took her maybe 10 minutes to bring our drinks out. My dad got an iced tea, which was unsweetened, and he asked for sugar since there was no more stocked at the table. The girl never brought it. We got our food order in and it was out for us within a reasonable amount of time. I asked for a turkey burger with no cheese. It came to me with cheese. "Luckily" I was able to peel it off in one piece, so I didn't bother trying to send it back. When we were done our server came and took our place and asked us about dessert, which we thought was a little weird since my mom was still eating. We told her we would wait for my mom to be done and order after that. And that's when this girl disappeared. After waiting for at least 25 minutes if not more, we decided that maybe it would be best if we just paid the check on the machine at the table and went to Bruster's for the ice cream. But then we remember that my dad and I had ordered the combo meals, which come with the ice cream. So we waited another few minutes for our server to return before my dad finally went up to the hostess. She then took our ice cream order on a kid's menu and our server came back to tell us that the hostess gave her the order and that she had put it in the system. When the ice cream came, after another 15 minutes or so, both of my parents each had an extra topping on it that they didn't ask for. Fine, but when we finally got the check I wanted to make sure that we weren't charged for it. Our server apologized for the delay in bringing my dad's card back to him, but she was "dealing with several walk out checks". Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't broadcast that... In the TWO HOURS that we spent there, we witnessed at least three parties walk out. All of which had little kids with them. I was a server at a busy diner for 2 years during college. It DOES take a little bit to find a groove when you're just starting out, and learning how to prioritize and figure out the timing of everything. But I can confidently tell you that it is NOT a particularly difficult job unless you're dealing with difficult people, which my family is not. This particular Friendly's establishment has TERRIBLE management and training. I do think that their drive thru option is what is killing them. We overheard our server apologizing for her absence to another table, but that she was in the kitchen "bullying them to get her food out." We also heard her tell the same table that her manager was in the kitchen cooking. And in all the waiting that we were doing, we would look over at the hostess stand, where the hostess was doing nothing and there was another server sitting on the bench behind her, doing nothing. Most frustrating visit to Friendly's ever. We usually go to the Nashua nh one but it's closed now! Tried the Merrimack one for my second time since it's opened and this time was horrible. We had four kids 4 & under and 3 adults during a non business time on a Saturday. We walked in and it was fairly empty about five tables with people. Over 6 or 7 huge tables available. Waitress said she needed to get a table "ready for us" and when I told her we had 7 people total , 4 kids she looked like it was a big deal..... when there was a ton of tables that would fit us! I said okay nicely and waited for them to "get us a table ready" sat there for 10 plus minuets for them to just give us a table that had been ready the whole time.... took our waitress 10 minuets to come over to ask for our drinks and then another 15 almost twenty for our drinks . She wasn't that busy and there was other waitresses as well. Then a long time to get our kids meals and ours as well... we had to wait over 20 minuets for four kid ice creams and the kids were beyond ready to leave by then.... gave them their build your own ice creams topping by topping handing them the small cups........... instead of having them ready on a plate. Dumbest thing I've ever seen. checks were wrong. And then when we're waiting for our cards back one of the kids were crying (not very loud) and you could visibly see we were waiting for our cards back to leave and two different tables of older kid-less people were making dirty faces at the kid crying.... one made a comment "that's why yo don't have kids" only one out of four kids crying! When we were almost leaving and would have sooner if it wasn't for the waitress being so slow! COME ON PEOPLE ITS FREAKING FRIENDLYS! Why would you ever come here if you didn't wanna see or hear children!!!!!!!!! Horrible time! And yes we were still very nice to the waitress but it was getting hard towards the end. i feel like a broken record, but i have to agree with the general consensus that this Friendly's is terrible. we didnt look at reviews before we went, but we figured it would probably be busy because it was brand new, maybe a little unorganized, and have slightly bland Americana food, but doable and nostalgic. sadly, it was so much worse than that :( we gave it two tries, but its just not something i want to waste my time or money on again. pros: the waitstaff both times we went were friendly and clearly trying their best. even when they were swamped, they were kind and did their best to try and make us happy. our order was taken promptly. there are ample coupons in the mail, so you can probably get a cheap meal if you plan it right. cons: so many! parking is a nightmare, and the drive through is not planned well at all. figuring out where the heck to enter the building for dine in was also a real challenge, its just not laid out or indicated well. the seating area is small and crowded. the restaurant was a bit dirty and things were sticky, like there wasn't time to clean the tables and menus between people. the waitstaff seemed incredibly frazzled, even on our second go when they'd been open a while and weren't very busy. food took ages to arrive, and it was even longer for someone to give us our check so we could go. the food was the worst part though. i saw one review comment that its marginally better than McDonald's, and i have to strongly disagree. sadly, i would rather eat at any of the fast food chains, the quality of their food is definitely better. i wont go into extreme detail because everything's already been said, but to sum it up: food was bland, greasy, and hardly warm. the ice cream itself was decent, but its hard not to do ice cream right when it just needs to be scooped out of a container and into a cup. the sundaes were way overpriced and pretty boring. the topping and add ins were sparse, so it felt very expensive for what it was. for the price, we could've gone and bought a carton of the exact same friendly's flavor from the store and topped it ourselves. or better yet, we could pop over to Brusters, and end up with awesome ice cream and quick service. in summary, dont go. just dont. it wont be quick, cheap, or tasty. i dont think theyll get any better either, so im not personally going to give it another shot. read more

Friendly's has been a staple in my family for over 30 years. Sadly, all the locations, including this new one in Merrimack have just gone down hill to a point that we will no longer be visiting any of their restaurants. We went in on a Saturday afternoon and we were one of two groups waiting to be seated. The hostess didn't say hello, didn't even look at us. Just went about her business with her seating chart. When it got to be our "turn" she looked up and asked "3?" There was 4 of us. She took us to a table that was no clean. Gave us menus with pieces of food stuck on them and all sticky inside. Server came by and was friendly enough. Took our order. We asked for waters and those were only brought after asking again for them. We waited for a bit longer (only ice cream ordered) and then he told us the slips weren't printing. So he put it in manually. The ice cream came out, but we had to then ask for napkins and spoons. He apologized and brought us 4 soup spoons. We are and wanted to get out as quick as possible. We tried the machine and it did not allow us to pay at the table. Everything was so delayed, and then messed up and unclean. It will be our last visit. read more

We were really excited that a Friendly's was opening up in Merrimack since we have two little kids and fond memories going to Friendly's as children. The wait was long, the staff ignored us (including managers), it took forever to get our food and when we did the food was inedible (other than the kids sundae - the 4 of us split that because the food was so gross). 2.5 hours & $51 later we went home and made ourselves a decent lunch. I thought it would be like a Red Robin but unfortunately no. Also, this place hasn't been open long but the place was so dirty like no one had cleaned it in years. Oh, how this chain has changed.....for the worse, I'm afraid....my experience was an early dinner, on a Monday. First, getting into the building was dangerous, as you need to cross a drive through lane to get to the front door. Seated quickly, no silverware in sight. Waitress was unkempt, full of tatoos, seemed dazed, hair hanging messy. Still no silverware. Got drink, ordered food, not asked how burger be cooked. Got food, greasy fries, burger done fairly well. Still no silverware, asked for fork. Brought finally, no spoon, knife. All the while, kids nearby very loud, parents not caring, could hear very loud talking in kitchen, loud bangs, just an awful experience. Too bad. Used to love Friendly's. read more

Friendly's is loosing their image, what their doing to the burger patties is wrong what they are doing is cooking the burger ahead of time and giving it to the ppl at the drive thru and then they just give everyone else the hockey puck patties today I went and ordered a quarter pound beef burger well it is supposed to be big and juicy right?
