Great service and the food is always delicious! Reminds me of the good Friendly's when I was a kid

I went to this Friendly's location recently and had a wonderful experience! Our server, Kylie, was awesome! She was funny and very personable. We got our drinks and silverware immediately, and our food very quickly despite it being pretty busy. We got a bacon cheeseburger with loaded waffle fries and Reuben sandwich with regular fries. Everything was great! Took desserts to go and they were exactly what we wanted :). Happy to have a go to Friendly's again- they really are on it here! read more

If you've ever been to a Friendly's you know what you're in for...the ice creams are the best things on the menu. I've been to many Friendly's and have gotten the Fishamajig. This was the worst one I've ever had. It was greasy, dry, and the fish looked gross. I only had a few bites. My husbands burger was okay, I tasted it, it was just a little bland. The fries, onion straws, and our drinks were all right. We got a sundae to share, and of course it was yummy. The wait staff and service was fine. The restaurant was clean. It was very col in the restaurant, and I think they could tell we were uncomfortable...it got warmer soon after I ran out to the car to get my coat. read more

Horrible!!!!! Service bad, Flies ALL OVER in and around the window for ice cream!!! Went last week and the server at window said gave him a $10bill when i actually gave him a $20!!! Long story but ice cream came to 10.24 i handed him a $20 and he said it was a $10. So, he NEVER said it was 10.24 (when i also had a $1 bill in my HAND for tip jar)!!! He was counting the drawer w money and change all over the counter when we walked up and it was busy!!!! Why would this be acceptable practice? Said drawer added up and manager would get back to me. Of course it added up, he probably took tip money to even it!!!!!! Manager called next night, i returned call with a long message and NO RESPONSE BACK!!! NO WONDER FRIENDLYS IS CLOSING RESTAURANTS!!! The food at the South Weymouth Friendly's is always fresh and delicious. I love getting it delivered right to my house.

It's a bit of a hike for me to get to this place but I've been craving Friendly's for a while now and I just had to make the trip out there to satisfy my craving. I arrived at the restaurant at around dinnertime and was quickly seated. My server came over to the table right away to get my drink order. Since I knew exactly what I wanted for food and the restaurant was very busy I figured I'd save some time and place my drink order and my dinner order all in one swoosh. They have a pretty good menu here consisting of appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, several entrees and if you are a light eater they also do have a few salads. If you like seafood they do have a fried shrimp platter and a fish sandwich as well. I decided to go with their Munchie Mania which is an appetizer platter where you can pick three out of about seven or eight different options to go on your plate. I went with the mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders and loaded waffle fries as my three picks. Off the top of my head they also have chicken quesadillas and onion rings as options but I don't remember what the others were. My plate came with marinara sauce and honey mustard for dipping. I had a Sprite to drink and it was very refreshing and delicious. One thing I've always noticed about Friendly's is that their soda is always very good and not watered down the way it is in some other establishments. It did take a little longer for my food to arrive than I had wanted it to but once I did receive it I really enjoyed it. The portion size of my meal, while not enormous, was enough to fill me up so that I was at least satisfied. The dining atmosphere was pleasant my server was very sweet. With so many of their locations having been closed down it is really out of the way for me to get to a Friendly's but I did enjoy my meal here and look forward to coming back next time I'm out this way. read more

Usually I order from here and it's good but this time I was extremely dissatisfied because I ordered a large Reese's Cup Sundae and was given a cup half full!! One scoop of ice cream was in the cup with a ton of whip cream. It was so disappointing because this sundae was filled with air not ice cream. And it's not like she made a mistake because she was busy, because the place was completely empty but still she couldn't bother to put any effort into making sure my order was correct. I always loved Friendly's and it's too bad to see them closing everywhere and becoming what they are but I guarantee if they hired actual cooks and didn't have their severs run around and cook it would go a heck of a lot smoother! That was the biggest issue I had with this Friendly's, that was the wait! Everything seemed to take forever but I knew it is because these servers also have to make food and I've noticed in every Friendly's the management and training isn't very good and it shows. Although the last time we went the waiter was very friendly I could tell he was not properly trained and was running around trying to serve and make food. If Friendly's actually hired cooks for their restaurants and had proper management it would go a lot smoother and would be a lot better. Also their breakfast is very good so should be served all day. This Friendly's is still a good for breakfast and early lunch if you have little time to kill because it definitely can be a wait at times. read more

Absolutely awful and disappointed. Went to pick up my take out order and found my chicken fingers and fries to be inside of styrofoam cups! Yet my other food was in a take out container. The food was cold and way over cooked. I am so beyond upset and disgusted to find my food in a CUP! Never again will I go to Friendlys ! read more

Thought I would give Friendly's another shot. Here is what I have to say: #Friendly ice cream shops are a mere memory now as the only thing reminiscent of the Friendly's I grew up with is the tired menu. When I walk into a service establishment the first thing that hits me is how much management and ownership cares about me (or doesn't) as a customer. For instance when I walk into an Apple Store management makes sure my experience is one that I want to repeat. I cannot say I want to go back to Friendly's. Sorry, it takes more than grabbing a number four or five exec from Panera to to make this brand work. Long wait with only two or three people in line, overpaying for ice cream that server can't get right near empty store on a hot Sunday night. Take a look at this pitiful Sundae. read more

Well another trip to Friendly's with the ladies before BLG goes away. The food was delicious again! The waitress was terrific. Last time we had her too. I didn't have her name right. What the hell happened to Friendly's . I walk up to the take out window and there's people working in there and I know they can see me , but they ignore me like I'm the invisible man. They are in there I see them , they see me but they are like brain extracted zombies with no expression of their faces. Finally I'm acknowledged I order a Reese's pieces Sunday , but I never get enough hot fudge. I always have to order extra hot fudge and pay more to get a normal amount of hot fudge almost 10 dollars for my ice cream Give me the hot fudge I deserve !!!!!. I came for some ice cream and I will never return. My ice creams I purchased for my family were all incorrect. There were about 6 staff members in the back kitchen chatting and laughing while a long line formed outside with only 1 girl working at the window. My ice cream was entirely melted when I received it and there was debris covering the outside of the cup. About 4 years ago at my brothers cello recital they left us alone. we ordered 2 ice creams and a water, they only gave us a water. We never got the ice creams. (Keep in mind we and one other person were the only ones there with many workers). I ordered an All American Burger. The waitress comes back with our food, and after she leaves, I noticed I got a bacon double. When she came back, I told her about the mix-up. She said "oh I know I brought out the wrong order, sorry". So if you know you brought out the wrong order, why would you put it on the table. The restaurant was dirty and had many unclean tables. Lastly, one male server in street clothes (no uniform) looked like he was in work release from Father Bill's place or a drug rehab! I left no tip! read more

The place was empty at noon on Saturday 2/18/23. We soon found out why. 4 of us were seated My wife, our daughter, my 5 year old grandson and me. We ordered some drinks, (soda, water, milk and coffee) once they arrived we ordered food a BLT, mac and cheese with hot dog, 2 hot dogs with fries and a turkey melt. Then we waited. About 4 other parties came in were seated and ordered. We waited. They were all served, some the same things that we had ordered while we waited. Some of those parties left before we finally got our food. The hot dogs were cold on the inside, the mac and cheese was very old and clumped together so that at least 25% of it was inedible and the BLT had 2 pieces of bacon on it. This place holds a special memories for my wife since she grew up in S. Weymouth, NOT ANYMORE. The waitress Jess never evn checked on us, she came over a plopped down my grandson's Sundae and gave us the check, $54.61. I didn't want to leave any tip but my daughter made me leave $5. I sent an email to the owner Bobby Arruda who responded by saying "thanks, I have talked to the people at the site to let them know", not even an apology. My family and I love going to this Friendly's. We always ask for Kylie as our waitress. She is very attentive and always makes sure our meal is perfect. She even remembers what we order. She is an asset to the company. My son always wants to eat here cause the service is fast and the food is good. The resteraunt is clean. If I ever have a bad experience, I tend to try to sleep on it before posting here. If I post anyway, it's bad. Over the years this location has been on the decline, and it has REALLY been declining steadily as of recently. We have been there when they didn't pay attention to ordering and were out of cheese, ketchup and Coke; some major staffing issues; slow service; wrong orders; cold food... we have left more than once saying we wouldn't go back, but we would anyway to give them another chance. Last night was the last straw. We enter, it's busy-ish, but there are a couple of servers and a fair amount of voices coming from the back, so all looks ok. We stand there for a few minutes. One server asks us "three of you?". There are and we are the only ones waiting to be seated so this shouldn't take long. He disappears into the back. We wait. I make eye contact with the ice cream counter girl a couple of times - otherwise, nothing. Another server comes out and proceeds to take an absurd amount of time going back and forth to the kitchen to clean a table. One. Table. This table should be absolutely sparkling by the time she's done She finally comes over, gives a half-hearted "Sorry for the wait" (which was somewhere close to10 minutes now) and leads us over to the table. It is not sparkling but it's clean so it's fine. She leaves us menus, doesn't ask if we want drinks and disappears into the back. First server (remember him? The guy we thought was seating us but didn't?) comes in from the front door (?) and once again disappears into the back. I'm starting to wonder if there is a Tardis back there or something. That would at least be kind of cool. And that was it. We sat there, menus on the table, no one coming to help us. The first guy even seated people who came in well after us and told them "I'll be right with you". That was our cue to get up and leave. I don't know who was supposed to be our server, or where they went, but enough was enough. We wasted almost a half hour and all we got were menus. Mind you, the whole time we were there and this was going on, another staff member was sitting in a booth (on break? No food in front of him, just staring morosely at the table). You have customers who are clearly not happy sitting directly across from you - not saying you have to end your break to serve us, but at least get up, check the Tardis and advise someone that perhaps they need to get on out there. Maybe? No? We left and went to the 99 down the street. More $$ but WAY better experience (we got some of our favorite staffers there, the food was hot and delicious, and they were fully stocked with all the appropriate condiments and beverages ). Friendly's has been sold to individuals and it has been destroyed! The ice cream quality is really bad. Many of the servers are tough and rude. And the food is slop. We tried a $5 burger based on the pictures. The burger was a sliver of bad meat. This burger made McDonald's look good. It is too bad that the place has fallen so badly because there is a need for a good burger place with great ice cream. I hope someone comes along and fills the void? I grew up going to many Friendly's so I feel I can say with some authority that this is the trashiest, most unkempt location I've ever been to. Firstly, I'm about 89% sure our waitress was high. Don't get me wrong, if waitressing was my job, I'd need a toke now and again to get me through it, but it was very offputting. My friend ordered a Caramel sundae. Upon receiving it, it had bits of blue in it. Can't say I've ever come across blue caramel. Our waitress apologized and said the cotton candy ice cream was right next to the caramel ice cream and asked if she wanted a replacement (yes!!!) but it was kind of obvious before even being served. The atmosphere was dingy, the bathroom was a mess, it was just very unwelcoming as a whole. Very disappointed with this friendlys location. Every time I come in to get a take out I order it always takes 45+ minutes, even when all I order is a SANDWICH. I even ordered ice cream last week to go from here and didnt come in until an hour after I called and they started the order when I got here. No point in calling in for orders because every time i do so they start the order when i get there and then i wait an extra 15 minutes. They really don't understand the meaning of ordering ahead and picking up. This is why all the friendlys are closing because the service is not what it used to be. read more

Haha, this seems to be the place to go with moms, based on the few other reviews here. And, that's why I go here - maybe twice a year. It's fun. I mean, if you live in the city like me, when is the last time you've had a high school kid wait on you? We get "Happy Ending" sundaes. FYI, you don't have to order a meal to get one and we like them because they're smaller than a regular sundae. We both get mint chocolate chip, one with whipped cream (her) and one with marshmallow (me), and both with hot fudge and nuts. As a grown woman, who has spent most of my life (from my teen years on) being conscious of what I eat, it's normally a big treat for me if I splurge on "fat free frozen yogurt". So, there is something really freeing about sitting in a booth in an ice cream shop with your mom, eating a sundae, with REAL ice cream and hot fudge, as if you were still a kid without a care in the world. read more

Ordered on delivery. Not only did they get our order entirely wrong. We couldn't eat the the food as "proof" of their mistake for when they delivered new food. While that sounds a little illegal and unprofessional. We now have to wait even longer for our food which will be cold by the time they come.
