I have a bit of a history with Friendly's (and you would know if you read my other reviews). I was a waitress at Friendly's as my second job ever when I was 16. It has it's good and bad points and most of the time I feel like people have a bad time! I know all the reasons why....Anyhow... I have to say that my experience at the Weymouth Friendly's was one of the best Friendly's experiences I've ever had. While the service was a tad slow (the place was packed), the food was yummy and the order was accurate. My boyfriend ordered the bottomless Buffalo shrimp, while I ordered the good ol' crispy chicken wrap (my long time favorite for over a decade since I worked there!). We both agree that Friendly's has some of the best coleslaw around! I also enjoy their fries and the mayo holds a special place in my heart (and not just in an unhealthy way). My boyfriend only refilled his shrimp once and said they were pretty tasty. It's hard to believe it's bottomless! After our meals we both ordered sundaes. I love gummi bears on my sundae (gummies in hot fudge = love)! My boyfriend ordered a Reese's Pieces sundae that he enjoyed. One of the best parts? Lots of children but hardly any screaming children! It might be time to give Friendly's a second chance, just be sure to go in an off time when it's not busy! ;) read more

I had not been to a Friendly's in years but I said I would take Mom out to breakfast on Sunday and it is very close to their home. It was busy and I thought that was good. They also brought a whole pot of coffee for me, which was needed. The pancakes were ok and my Mom liked her breakfast. It seemed a good place for me and Mom on a rainy Sunday morning and we did not have to wait outside so that was plus. read more

Don't come here unless you have two hours to spare and kids who can sit for over an hour waiting for their food. Sad. I loved Friendly's growing up but the past two times we've been here we've gotten subpar service and had to wait forever. This time we got there before lunch rush- waited 20 min to get our drink orders taken should've walked out then- there were only two other tables at this time. I used to go to this friendly's when I lived in the neighborhood when I was young. When I meet my mom for breakfast she wants to go there. (She only gets tea and toast). I am dissappointed now. To be honest the only reason they're getting 1 star is because it is not possible to give them 0. First of all i brought my dog out for his first ice cream and he was doing really good sitting next to me in line until the waiter started to call him over. I had no problem with that since most people love dogs however, when you're sitting their for an entire 5 minutes harassing him until he starts barking it gets quite annoying. After that I gave a different waitress my order which which then came back and messed up 2/3 orders. I am very easy going so my girlfriend went up and asked for what they forgot and she did receive it with a great deal of attitude. After that I realized they forgot my hot fudge then I tried to go up and ask for it she then says "whats wrong with yours now" and it wouldn't have been wrong if you could actually comprehend and order so I just walked off. The service was very slow. I went in for lunch and came out for dinner. Our waitress(Sandra) needs a raise. She is working very hard. No this is not anyone who knows her or forced just my opinion. My favorite guilty pleasure! This review is more about the service, which is steadily declining. I have ordered take out and delivery 6 times in the past 6 months and all 6 times my order was inaccurate. The first two times I was given a turkey melt instead of a turkey club supermelt- and despite asking for extra honey mustard I actually received none. Next was them forgetting my kids meal, after that my appetizer was missing. And today when I ordered a sundae with chocolate ice cream i received vanilla. This is unacceptable. It is not a complex task to make a sandwich or ice cream. read more

Serena was wonderful and we are so thankful for the hospitality of this place. We came in late from the airport and Friendly's was the only place open. Thank goodness for their warm burgers and fries. We were in need of sustenance and this did the trick. They were nearly closed when we arrived and we tried to be as fast as possible. It's been fourteen years since I've far Friendly's and it may not be the best ever, but coming here brought back so much memories. I always compare Friendly's by saying it's "the CFA of Dairy Queen". Located on the busy edge of Route 18 in Weymouth by the South Shore Hospital, this Friendly's location always has a constant flow of customers through the door. That fact appears to overwhelm the staff who, even with that burden, are still warm and inviting but that can only do so much. On one occasion, I saw an elderly couple steal a carton of ice cream from one of the large fridges by the door. The restaurant wasn't busy, but the staff was still overwhelmed enough not to notice the robbery. Come for the ice cream and nothing else. read more

This place used to be great years ago. But since I've gone in recently and waitstaff does not acknowledge you waiting to be seated for a long time even when it's not at all busy. They redone the inside. The decor is tacky. And the food portions are pathetic. They are overpriced and they give you kid size type meals. And after you eat it you feel sick. Service is very slow. It makes me really sad to come to Friendlys now. I loved this place as a kid. We go occasionally for ice cream only. Today we waited in line for about ten minutes(with no one in front of us) and made eye contact with about six employees, none of which acknowledged us. I understand if the place is busy, which it was not. Maybe five tables inside and no one at the ice cream window. Someone at least should have greeted us and said it would be a minute. Why did I come here? Because I had a coupon, thats why. I don't like Friendly's - I hate kids, not a fan of ice cream, and they don't serve liquor. That being said, I ended up here, and will judge while trying to keep that bias in check. Our drinks came out right away, which was nice. Then we waited perhaps twenty minutes to get our food. It was not busy at all, and there were four or five waitstaff on, so how can one chicken finger basket take that long? Our food arrives. I only got a cone, since I didn't want food. My cone comes in a metal dish, just placed into one. Which is cool, because I don't like the cone part, and was going to just stick it in. I take the cone out, and notice dried hut fudge bits in the dish. Thanks for serving me dirty dishware. My partner takes a bit of cole slaw to find crispy bits of what we can only hope to be french fries. We finish, and wait another fifteen to twenty minutes for the plates to be taken. When that finally happens, we order one more ice cream, TO GO. It is dropped off with the check. We wait, wait, and wait some more. We ordered ice cream TO GO because we wanted TO GO. Maybe fifteen minutes passed until our server comes back to make change for us. We spent over an hour in this juvenile diabetes factory, for fries and chicken bits that were worse than McDonalds. It's worst than fast food, takes much longer, and costs more. What reason is there TO go here? read more

I dont always go to friendly's...but when I do it's because im with the wife and kids and we want sundaes or ice cream after we eat....we ususally get the loaded waffle fries to start with...which are tasty and filling...not exactly gourmet cheese...but it's still tasty...I am a creature of habit and tend to order things I know chain style places usually dont screw up...which is why I ordered the bbq chicken melt and wasnt let down...I see lots of bad reviews which is understandable ... but lets remeber where we are here...you're not at the Ritz people so lighten up...maybe once you realized the valet service wasnt coming for your Bentley you should have gone somewhere else! read more

Never even got to sit and eat. Stood at the hostess podium for nearly 8 minutes before I left! Just trying to grab lunch in between clients. Absolutely ridiculous hospitality. I ordered a wrap which took about an hour to make. I said i wanted everything on it that was on the menu, lettuce, tomato, etc. my wrap is handed to me falling apart with nothing in it but chicken. When i asked my waitress what happened to the lettuce she said she can give me a side of lettuce, did not offer to re-wrap or get me something else. I declined her offer. Then she dissapeared for another 20 minutes and didn't take any money off the bill. This place really sucks read more

Its friendlys the service needs to be redone not the restraunat it takes for ever to get your food and the service is not there

Friendly's is a classic but has gone down hill over the years. When I saw that this location offered delivery I decided why not give it a try! I placed a small order later on a weeknight. My food took an hour and forty minutes to arrive from the time I placed the order....Now I don't live far from the Friendly's at all actually pretty close! The delivery man was polite but the food at this point was cold and needed to be reheated. The food didn't taste bad but wasn't great soggy and reheated. When I called to check on the status of the order while waiting for it the woman on the other line brushed it off and said he just left with a bunch of orders. Needless to say I was disappointed and certainly won't be coming back to this Friendly's for delivery or at all. read more

AWFUL service tonight. Was in the mood for some ice cream so went on down to my local Friendly's. At the take out window, there was a small line of around 3 people so I waited. It seemed like the first two people in line had been there awhile. They complained about the girl making their ice cream talking more than working. As we waited, they were right. She was talking gossip about her coworkers, and other things that were borderline work appropriate. Their order was screwed up when she forgot to put hot fudge and caramel on one of the sundaes... kind of a big deal. I ordered a 3 scoop mint chocolate chip with peanut butter sauce and m&ms. A fairly simple order... however it was screwed up. I couldn't tell that it was screwed up as it was liberally covered in whipped cream and I just trusted my toppings would be underneath. I get in my car and drive home... to fine mint chocolate chip ice cream with chocolate jimmies and whipped cream. Not what I ordered. Very disappointed. read more

Just waited 15 minutes without being acknowledged even though they looked right at us a couple times. We asked if we could just sit and while the waitress walked away she said something about it being busy so we don't know what she said--- it wasn't that busy. We left and came to the one on Washington Street and were seated right away- we've been here about as long as we waited at the other location--- we have our drinks and we have already ordered. Was really looking forward to eating at Friendly's. My wife worked for the chain years ago. She was embarrassed, and apologized to me as we left. Our experience was bad from the get go. We sat ourselves because there was no host. Then a woman with no name tag, or Friendly's uniform came out from the back with menus. As she got to our table we were hit with her perfume! It was this horrible, cheap stuff that stuck to everything and lingered! (I can still smell it as I'm writing this!) Now every time I see a Friendly's sign I'll smell that! The food came out fast, but was over shadowed by the perfume! On top of that, the potatoes were cold!!! A huge disappointment. read more

worst service ever! Sat down with my family for dinner and no one greeted us for ten minutes. The waitress who took our drink order said she could not take our food order even after we asked and that our waitress would be over to take our order. Twenty minutes went by and the same lady reluctantly asked us if she should take our order. After the order was taken we waited 45 minutes, nothing. It took an angry mother and her hungry, upset children for the order to even be placed with the cook. As we began to leave the lady who took our drink orders ran after us and *not really trying* asked us to stay as "your food will be ready in only 12 minutes" as we turned to leave she snarked, "ok whatever" (note that many people seated after us got their food before us and every waitress that walked by did not even akknowledge us) read more

The most disgusting dining experience I have ever had. You could scrape stuff off the inside of my cup. The tables and plates were very dirty and gross. The floors were dirty. We sat next to the kitchen and the kitchen was a disgusting scene...the cups were stored on a very dirty shelf..there was ice cream all over the place will stuff dripping off of the counters..the floors were covered in old food and spilled drinks. I love friendlys food never have had an issue with the food itself it's just the service is always trash. Just got up and left from this location because after waiting for about 10 minutes with multiple servers walking past us and doing nothing a group was seated behind us and immediately helped. I just don't understand how you don't want to take more tables isn't that how you make money as a server? This is why I rarely go to friendlys. I just had the worst restaurant experience in a very long time tonight. Went to friendlys in weymouth for dessert after having dinner at another location. It took 20 minutes to get one frenzy after ordering. Had it been busy I would of understood a long wait. But there were only 3 other tables seated and no line at the carry out window and four employees working. After waiting 20 minutes for my order I had to wait an additional 15 minutes to get the check and pay. I nearly just walked out. On top of all that the staff was incredibly rude. Instead of working hard they could be heard laughing in the kitchen and walking by us smirking not serving us food. Needless to say they received no tip. My dinner at the restaurant I went previous to this took less time in total than a simple ice cream stop. Never will I go there again. In fact I almost feel compelled to go ask for compensation but that would mean going back to that terrible place. Instead all I can do is warn others. read more

I barley come here and I took the little girls I babysit out for dinner.. We did not even get acknowledged when we entered the door for at least 5 minutes until I had to say something. They did not say follow me or anything I assumed to follow one of the girls and they dropped the menus and didn't say anything. Our server decided to stroll over 10 mins later and take our order. After the food got dropped I didn't see her for another 15 mins after they were done eating and our plates stacked on the side of the table. I immediately asked for the check. Very disappointed. The waitresses are nice, but the place is really small and they are extremely slow. It was also a little dirty. Our table was sticky, and the table directly next to us was where the put dirty plates from other tables. They seemed short staffed, so I didn't get upset about it, but it isn't the best Friendly's around. read more

Absolutely disgusting. If I could rate them zero stars I would. I ordered loaded friends fries. When I arrived I paid for my order. As I looked in the back cooking area I noticed my fries in a container open. The serve grabbed the container and dug her hand in an open bucket of bacon with no gloves or hands washed. Prior to that she had touched money when I paid and she was cleaning. At the same time a guy who I believe was the cook, was sweeping. He put the broom down and grabbed a handful of bacon and started adding it to my fries while laughing. He then picked the broom up to continue sweeping. No gloves. That was gross. The server then continued to bag fries and I politely told her no thank you. I asked for my money back and she initially said she's unable to do that. I expressed that I had saw what just happened and she just went to get manager. The manager also didn't seem concerned about the lack of cleanliness and sanitary cooking. read more

Went here on a Friday night at dinner with three friends tonight. waited 45 minutes for our food. "Sandy" first forgot my friends soup, and two of our sauces. We then asked for more sauce, which she also forgot. Probably only visited our table three times. The line was long out the door with more than 4 tables clear and no one seating. I didn't expect much from Friendly's, but this is the worst service I've received in my life. Then it took another half hour of waiting for our ice cream. The poor host, Billy, was running around like a chicken with his head cut off trying to help all the tables that the servers were neglecting. I went there for lunch with my wife and two kids at 12pm First off we put our name down right when we walked in. We watched them clean off 6 tables before anyone came back for the other 20 people behind us that haven't had a chance to put their names down on a list. This was 25 minutes of waiting later let me remind you. They sat us and still never took anyone's name down. My 3 year old son said it smelt like poop. It was the old rag that was brown that they were wiping the tables down with. It is light blue brand new. My wife wiped down the table with a baby wipe. The silverware was dirty so we didn't even bother using it. The napkins had sauce on them. Therefore dirty. We got our drinks and ordered the food right off the bat. Took nearly 10 minutes to get our drinks. The food was another half and hour. We only got 1 kids chicken and fries and an adult. My wife ordered a munchie mania. Which they ran out of sour cream? So she only received a spoon full. This was at 1pm. Not a happy camper. My meal of the adult chicken and fries came out 10 minutes later than their meals and the chicken was well over cooked. DISGUSTING. We asked for the ice cream that came with his meal and the check. Paid and got the hell out of there. Terrible!!! Never going back for awhile if at all. You have all been warned. I have been going to Friendly's for breakfast every weekend for years. The waitresses were always pleasant, friendly, and took the time to know you and the food was good. We looked forward to our breakfast on the weekend. Unfortunately the staff has changed, the food comes out cold, undercooked, and the manager at the South Weymouth restaurant is rude. I was at the restaurant for breakfast. I ordered french toast with bacon. The meal is $7.99 for 3 pieces of french toast and 2 slices of bacon. I was given a bottle of syrup and poured it on my french toast. It poured out like water. I looked for the waitress and didn't see her so I handed it to the manager and said there was something wrong with it. She took it and said, it wont pour out? I told her it came out like water. She told me they were all the same and gave me a different bottle, putting the bad one down with the other ones. I poured the new syrup on the corner of the plate to test it and it came out thick, like it should be. i Tasted a piece of the french toast and it tasted like chemicals. The waitress came over to see if everything was okay and I told her what happened and to take the plate away and credit me for the meal. The manager rushed past, asked if the syrup was better, and I told her the meal tasted funny and she continued walking and said she would check the syrup. She never came back, never apologized as it was obvious their was something in the bottle other than syrup, and then took $3.00 off my meal. I questioned the waitress and was told she gave me a credit. I said the meal was $7.99 and she credited me $3.00, which meant she charged me $4.99 for 2 pieces of bacon. She told me it was already entered in the computer and I could call and complain. A side order of bacon (3 pieces) is $3.29 and I paid $4.99 for 2 pieces. This location has gone down in service and the manager is rude to the customers. I have been a loyal customer for over 15 years and can assure you I won't be back. read more
