Arrived at Frigates around 5:15/5:30PM on a Friday and as expected it was very crowded and the wait for a table was over an hour so we went to the bar area were seating is open if you can find a table. Lucky for use we were able to find someone leaving within 5 minutes and got ourselves a table. Once seated it took what seemed like awhile for a waitress to arrive and after about 10-15 minutes on she showed . We saw online that they do Happy Hour Monday-Friday 3:30PM-6:00PM so we asked what all is on Happy Hour. She told us they don't do Happy Hour on Fridays so either she is wrong or the website needs some updating. I ended up ordering a draft to drink and the Crispy Calamari for an appetizer. Once she came back with our drinks we ordered our entrees. I went with the Hog Fish cooked Sautéed with the Citrus Beurre Blanc Sauce. For my sides I went with the Caesar Salad and the Risotto Du Jour. We did ask what the Risotto Du Jour was that day and our waitress did not know. Someone at our table did ask what the price of the Hog Fish and our waitress told them around $17-$20. Ours Calamari came out and it was very good. I wish the serving size was better but at least it was good . That was the end of the good food for the night. Our entrees arrived with and we all dug in. My Hog Fish was very bland. Not the rich flavor I am used too and was easily the blandest Hog Fish I had ever had. My guess is that it had probably been frozen for awhile. The Risotto was also not good. No flavor at all. Just tasted like sticky over cooked rice. My wife got the Lobster Roll and it wasn't very good either. Just a bunch of tiny pieces of broken up lobster. No large pieces of meat at all. Once we received the check we saw the Hog Fish was $27. To be fair we all knew the price the waitress told us was not right and excepted it to be higher. We are from out of town and decided on this restaurant because of their website, for my sister's birthday dinner. We sat outside which was wonderful, such a beautiful scenic view. The menu looked fabulous and we took some time deciding because it all looked so good however 2 of our 4 dinners were very disappointing. The blackened chicken with Mac & Cheese was good, not very much fresh spinach in it however is was ok. The Macadamia & Coconut Grouper Sandwich was very good however, did not taste any coconut? I also told them no tomato no onions but they were on my sandwich. The mango chutney was very tasty. Tahini Glazed Salmon was horrible! It was supposed to be cooked med it was way overdone. So as far as the Tahini Glazed Salmon, she couldn't taste any glaze at all. I ordered the Jumbo Blackened Shrimp Panini, for starters not jumbo shrimp, maybe large. Didn't see any bacon or guacamole, a piece of tomato and I leaf of lettuce. This was so disappointing and on top of it it shrimp was under cooked. I ordered the pineapple fried rice instead of fries, bad mistake, nothing special. I don't think they know how to cook seafood! We were all hungry so ate it. To top it off the flies were all over when the food came. Our waitress was pleasant but no help when we asked her to comp the salmon because we ate half of it, but nope! We even talked to another manager on the way out, nothing, she felt bad however no how can I make it better for you. Basically to bad was how I took it. I would not recommend this restaurant and if I lived in the area I would not go back. Very disappointing experience, we had such high hopes for our birthday celebration. I love writing positive reviews! What a wonderful, dining experience. A long time friend of my wife, and I suggested this place to us. We were so happy to take him here for his birthday. We were a total of 3 adults and an 11 year old (he eats like a grownup). Everyone's meals tasted amazing and looked just like the pictures. Outside seating near the waterfront dock was gorgeous. Just a bit of a chill was removed by the elegant heaters near the tables. Our server was eager to keep our glasses full. He was kind and helpful to our child, and knowledgeable about the dishes. After waiting up the street for Italian and not being seated after 30 minutes when they told us 10, we drove to Frigate's knowing nothing except that they were on the water and the setting was beautiful! There was an hour wait for a table ( Saturday night, 6:30) so we headed down to the bar, our karma was good since a table opened up at the bar so no wait! Food was pretty good. I started with the onion soup, great taste but lukewarm and the cheese was barely melted. I followed that up with the Red Dragon Sushi roll, it was amazing! It was also huge so half of it came home with me. My husband had the grouper sandwich, again, a large portion of fish and fries and he says pretty tasty. Edited to add, I ordered a slice of coconut cream pie to go. When I opened it at home I was surprised to see a very small flat piece of pie, two bites in I wondered if it was old or spoiled, it was not fluffy or sweet and unfortunately I had to throw it away. Service was friendly but a bit slow, again, it was prime time, and we had a great view of the water and got to see the high speed train! I went here with a couple of friends thinking it would be a great dinner. The staff, ambiance, and drinks are amazing. However, the food was lacking. The presentation of the plates were very nice, but needed some seasoning. I got the crusted grouper and it was very bland, the risotto it was in was decent. My friend got the adobo pork and it appeared as just dry pulled pork over rice and beans. She stated it was lacking in flavor as well. The beef carpaccio was pretty good, but it's hard to mess up raw beef honestly. Overall I think this place is very cute and has great potential, but needs more flavor in the actual dishes. I have not tried other items, and this is just my opinion of what I have tried. read more

A great place for a meal or to hold a special event - right on the water with terraced seating What a great place - Great food, Great service - Beautiful location and restaurant. You drive up and have valet park your car (no extra cost to you). There was a little bit of a wait as there was only one person parking cars so it took a few extra minutes. This was true when we left after our meal. Once you hand off your car to the valet, you proceed to the breezeway where there are several hostesses to seat you. There are 4 distinct seating areas in the restaurant: one to each side of the breezeway, one outside directly behind the breezeway, and the area behind and down to the water. They have areas for special events and general dining. We were seated on the upper outside deck under the shade. It was cool outside and it was a beautiful view of the lower deck, dock, and water. Our waitress took our drink order promptly and, when we were ready, took our food order. We had a large party separated in 2 tables. They did a good job of getting and delivering our orders for the size of our party. Overall, it was a wonderful meal, a beautiful venue, and great service. Try it out. read more

I looked forward to going to this restaurant for the longest time. Tonight we went for my stepmom's birthday. Immediately bombarded with valet that felt mandatory. When you asked "can I park myself" they would force themselves on you. It bothered everyone in our party. It was unfortunately a topic of conversation for like 30 minutes. When it was supposed to be a joyful night. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing!!!! I felt like I was at a high-end resort restaurants. The beautiful atmosphere led to my expectations being too high for the food. Everything photographs very well here but unfortunately, the food is bland and way overpriced. Boring poké bowl. I thing the one from Publix taste 100x better. This thing had no flavor. . My husband did have the keylime pie and he said the taste was odd. Unlike a traditional Keylime pie. Just completely bummed with this overall experience. It's also strange with the immaculate atmosphere to have plastic cups. It's a place you dress up and go to maybe prom night graduation night anniversaries... there should be glassware for photos not big blue plastic cups You would get at Cici's pizza. Just ate at Frigate's last night for the first time and our meal was delicious. To start, we ordered the Spicy shrimp appetizer. The shrimp were enormous and the sauce used was fantastic. I got the macadamia snapper for my entree, served over risotto and vegetables. the portion size of the fish was very generous and it was cooked to perfection. My husband has the grouper and said it was delicious. They do not take reservations for small parties. We waited about 40 minutes(exactly what we were quoted) for an outside table and grabbed drinks at the bar, which is totally fine for us! The bar area is very cool. There was live music which is a plus. We plan to go back to catch a football game there and try their wings. The ambiance of is great, with the outside lighting, palm tress and dock for the boats right on the river. We will absolutely be back and are looking forward to bringing some friends. read more

Beautiful restaurant on the water- we had a perfect dinner before sunset at the bar outside and enjoyed the live music. We had blue point oysters and wings for appetizers and both were fantastic. We ordered the grouper over spinach risotto and the wagyu beef cheeseburger for dinner and enjoyed both. The bar was very busy, but the bartender did a great job of providing recommendations and checking in on us. He mentioned they have won awards for their wings and grouper sandwich. The view is great and the menu has some nice choices. The service, though, it ruined a place we loved to go and have a nice leisurely meal and drinks. Our server, who was part of a team, we were told, couldn't wait on more than one table at a time. She dropped by and said I'll bring you water and walks away without giving us menus. So we sit and wait for a full 5 minutes before she brings water but no menu's. 5 minutes later we get menu's and order a drink. They take a long minute but come out looking great. We order an appetizer and want to wait on the food and she says to order it and she'll stager them. Sounds good. 20 minutes later we flag her down for another drink and ask about our app. After 35 minutes, we asked where our appetizer was, and she said she had the other server standing in the kitchen waiting for it. 10 more minutes we wait. When we got it the fried rice cakes under the fish were cold not warm or room temp but cold, we asked the server if that's how they were supposed to be. She picked it up and said I'll get you another one and walked away. My husband said, but I just wanted to know because if it was, I would have just eaten it like that. All around us people are having to wave the waitress down for their bills, drinks, or to ask about their food. They finally bring another appetizer out AND our food at the same time. The app is hot, the foods cold and we're still waiting for our drinks. We asked for a manager and got Dave. We tried to tell him about our wait, no refill on our drinks, and the cold food and he was so rude and nasty. He said he'd take the app off the bill but it wasn't what we wanted. We'd waited for over a hour and just wanted good service and a hot meal. He truly turned around and walked away! Then he actually yelled across the space D.A.V.E. when we asked his name.
