Came here on New Years Day - 5 stars for being OPEN and for having dduk gook (rice cake soup) even though it wasn't on the menu. The soup was really really flavorful without being salty and the portion was enormous. Most of the meat in the batch ended up in the husband's bowl but he was more than willing to share :) There were 5 banchans that came with - kimchi, potato salad, seaweed with the gochujang sauce, a cold egg jjim dish, and a tempura fried vegetable (we're still not sure what it was - but it was good). Nothing fancy but they were all solid. Parking is right in front but is a huge pain unfortunately. They have 2 maybe 3 tiny spots that they share with the massage place next door. The owners are super nice and their English is pretty good too. read more

Not to mention yummy kal bi and spicy pork - oooh and their steamed fish dishes are to die for as well. Enjoyed BBQing our meat. Loved the side dishes. Byob. The only 2 drawbacks were parking is kind of hard, there are a couple of tight spaces in front and some spaces in back that are tandem so you have to move when someone else wants out, but at least they come to get you when someone needs to move. So not too bad. The other kind of bummer was flies, they were attracted to the smoke and flew inside whenever people left to move their cars. We had the combination meat for 2. It comes with tongue, brisket, beef and pork belly and then they give you all the side dishes, (I think it's called namul). There was kim chee, cucumber kim chee , miso soup, egg custard, egg plant, and something green (ong choi?) We ordered a kim chee pancake as an appetizer and it was the highlight of the meal!! I've always wanted to try Frog House Restaurant since it is within walking distance from my condo. Finally called and ordered a take out Kalbi meal. For just under $18. it was excellent. I had to wait for my order, but was invited to sit in the restaurant while waiting. You know this is an authentic korean restaurant just by the clientele. When I got my order I was surprised to get three take out containers. Other places give you just one take out container that has everything it it. The Frog House has one container just for the Kalbi. The Kalbi, enough for two people, tender and tasty sitting on grilled onions and wrapped in foil. The other container was filled with 5 side dishes: kim chi, bean sprouts, two other sides, I had never had before., and the most delicious and refreshing potato salad that had fuji apples in it. I also got a separate container of rice. The side dishes were very spicy, but oh so good. When I first called, I was little hesitant, since the person who answered did not speakw a lot of english and I wasn't sure what would come with the Kalbi. However, when I got to the restaurant, I was surprised how helpful & friendly the staff is. I am definitely going back and will either dine in or take out again. This place is great! read more

If you're looking for a no-BS Korean cuisine place, Frog House is it. I highly recommend venturing away from your typical BBQ stuff like Kalbi or Bulgogi and go for the hot pot bowls like seafood bimbimbap. Driving home from Don Quoite all the time I was always intrigued by this restaurant's name. So one day I finally was able to see what it was all about. I must say this looked like a pretty authentic Korean food restaurant as there were things on the menu that I never seen. Black goat was one of them, but for those that have tried goat know that it has a very gamey taste. One that I do not was to try at a new restaurant. But anyways ordered the kalbi soup and my gf had the tofu soup. Both were good and the sides were pretty good too. I would come here again to try their lunch specials. read more

Came here after going to 678 Hawaii to be told that the wait was only 20 minutes. Yeah, right, we've heard this before and ended up waiting 1 hour! So we decided to give Frog House a try. I am so glad we did! The food is really tasty! We ordered the dinner combo plate which included Kal Bi, Bulgogi & BBQ Chicken. Everything was delish!!! They offered a variety of side dishes (free) that were just as good as our main dish. The only thing I did not enjoy was the green onion salad which was a side dish for purchase. It needed something to cut down on the acidity/vinegar. Other than that, I am a fan!! read more

This place is one of my favorite Korean restaurant. If you like to experience authentic Korean food this place definitely is a go to place. I have tried many of their dishes and I have been impressed with most of them. If you like spicy food, you got to try Monk fish, Gam Ja Tang (Spicy Potato soup with Ribs), Spicy Baby Octopus, and Spicy Pork in a pot. If you like other non spicy dishes try BBQ Chicken, Fried Mandoo, and Fish Jun. Also, if you are a brown rice lover, they have really good brown rice with other mixed grains as an option. Just got a be aware of the parking situation. Their parking is limited so sometimes it can be a bit challenging. read more

Best Korean pancakes ever! I'm super picky when it comes to my Korean pancakes and Frog House has one of the more tasty ones. Came in around 9pm on a Thursday and it was just us and another couple. Service was fast and the food was tasty. Will come back again, but go during lunch because the prices are cheaper. read more

They have some real hardcore korean dishes that a lot of other places won't have like blood sausage stir fry (sunde bokum) with veggies, fish egg stew (ahl chige), and super strong miso stew (makjong?). Just walking back to our hotel -Hilton Hawaiian village - from a nature hike at Hawaii nature center. We came across this hole in a wall place. We were attracted by the pictures outside So we decided to try it since we hungry Had a slight difficulty in finding the entrance since the entry door is in the back by the parking lot. We ordered the short rib soup along with the squid stir fry Boy it was delicious. We ate everything. This place would be the shiznit back in Ohio but in Hawaii it's just another Korean restaurant. Food is good and price is reasonable. Although their soondae seems to be way overpriced. I think it was like 19 bucks for like 2 lines so soondae and some side meat. My brother and I both had soondaeguk. It was good but not great. Banchan was yummy and plentiful. I came here because it had the signs of a very promising meal: sketchy location, korean old and unrenovated, and the name--frog house. Usually these signs point to old traditional cookings barely passing food health standards that go for a very promising meal. I had a craving for meatjune plate this evening so I ordered the combination which included chicken beef and pork--3 animals in one plate is a score. When my food arrived, it didn't have the meatjune and the server said in broken egglish "my mistake, it doesn't come with meat June and already too late to take back" I was appalled that this was the response I got to a already disappointed patron. I did what every gaijin would do and complained to the English speaking manager where she said "which meat you don't want and we replace with meatjune-ok" so I took off the pork because it was the lowest in the food pyramid and she replaced it with probably the worst meatjune on island. I would say the Chicken and bulgogi was ok, but Def not worth 19. The lesson of the story, not all sketchy places are as promising. read more
