We tried this place when in Williams for a family vacation. My husband ordered the dry rub bone in wings and I ordered the dry rub boneless wings. While our grandson had the Mac-n-cheese with tator tots kids meal. My husband's wings were basically burnt. Absolutely rock hard with no flavor and extremely dry meat. My wings were also rock hard with almost no meat and zero flavor. Our grandson did enjoy the Mac-n-cheese but we tasted and was very bland with a smokey flavor. Only thing food wise that was good were the tator tots! The grounds and outside area is fabulous and could be a quite fun place to however with such disgusting food I would NOT recommend wasting your time!!! read more

The concept of this place is really cool! Unfortunately it was a colder windy day so we didn't get to enjoy the outdoor space much which I think would be the biggest reason for us to go there again as there were kids with us. Traveling to the Grand Canyon, Williams is a spot to stay. 8PM and looking for a dog friendly spot we came upon the Frontier. Great place for kids and families. Lots of outside seating. Oversized games of many kinds. Sluicing for gemstones and very dog friendly. What a great spot. Very friendly and helpful staff. Quick service with big portions. Great local beer menu and creative drinks. Sadly the brisket was so salty it was inedible as were the fried brussel sprouts. Cornbread was good. Homemade chips good but heavily doused with salt. They do not answer the phone and over charge customers for products, I was just there and purchased only 3 of the mining pouches and did not notice on my receipt I was overcharged as we git our food right away and wanted to eat. It was starting ti rain so we were in a hurry to go do the mining. It wasn't until after we left and we quit a bit down the road when I realized I was overcharged. The pouches are 9.95 each and I got only 3, should be about $35.00 with taxes. I was charged over 43.00. We left when it was pouring rain. No call back since 4:00 pm. It's not easy to find an authentic, healthy salad in Williams that is also family friendly, but that's what we found at Frontier Restaurant. We looked and it doesn't exist in Williams. Went here on out first trip to Williams and we will be back for sure. Our niece and nephew loved mining for gems and all the games they could play. The pulled pork was good as was the brisket and the tater tots were delicious. The kids liked their food and nephew ate all his ribs. Mac n cheese was just ok. I love small, family-owned restaurants so I was hoping this would fit in my wheelhouse. We had a table of 7 and immediately we were advised there was no table service and that we could place our orders at the bar. Our food came out quickly but for the price was sub-par quality. I am incredibly impressed with this establishment. Everyone was so friendly. The food was the best I've had in a long time. I love BBQ and I wish we had frontier BBQ in California. I fell in love the all their BBQ sauces, but the mustard was fire! We wanted to buy some, and they gave us a whole bottle. If you're ever in Williams AZ definitely go. On Route 66. It's the kind of place where you order at the bar (this slows things down since the poor bartender is doing all the drinks and taking all the orders) and sit down and wait for the food. Food took a while to come, but they were busy. The meats were all pretty decent. Had the brisket, pulled pork, and sausage link (a bit too spicy for m preference). The fried pickles were fantastic. The mac and cheese was completely bland. Didn't try the cornbread since they added chilis or jalapenos to it but the rest of my party liked it. The Brussel sprouts were absolutely gross though. They were burnt balls full of oil. We tried two and tossed the rest. Overall it was an ok meal. Frontier Family Fun has the potential to be something great. While many local businesses play up being on Rt. 66, Frontier Family Fun plays up the area's mining history. This gives them something unique. One of the first things noticeable is the large mining sluice. It beckons passersby to try their hand at finding treasures. Visitors have the option of "mining" for gems, fossils, arrowheads, rocks, and emeralds. It was too cold for the outdoor sluice to be running. There was a whiskey barrel on the patio so that people may still mine. A barrel just didn't have the same appeal. It was also too cold to have kids leave with possibly wet clothes. A big part of the fun here hinges on the beer garden and activities. The large outdoor area looks more like a backyard bbq than a traditional German beer garden. This adds to the theming. There are tables, games and places for the kids to run around. This area was closed due to the colder temperature. The indoor shooting gallery was up and running. Indoors is more of a brewery feel. Food wise, the best thing we tried was the Brussels sprouts. They had a light crispness to them. Sprouts were covered in a tangy, warm and peppery vinaigrette. We were all in agreement that the tots came next. Tots were crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside. Brisket was a distant third. Meat was barely room temperature and tough. What looked like bark was really just a layer of moist seasonings clinging to the meat. Not the quality of bbq I was hoping to find. Especially from a bbq establishment. Coleslaw was beginning to turn brown. Mac and cheese was good according to my children. Children's mac and cheese was well sized. Bbq sauce choices include sweet, spicy and vinegar. Each did credit to it's style. Beer selection highlights some local breweries. Blueberry cider was worth the upcharge. It was smooth, sweet and fruity. (with an abundance of flies and heat) The dining...take a menu with you and come stand in line at the bar and order? Now, they claim to be a "BBQ" establishment. Another fail. Both in cost and flavor. Unless you like licking ash trays as you eat. Now, I am slightly a snob when it comes to bbq. (I have pretty good experience in competitions) But, I think anyone who has eaten good bbq would agree, it should not taste like your eating the charcoal. Which is exactly the way it does. The food should have a light smoke flavor. Not ash. (we are not dragons). The pulled pork and brisket were not quite as bad as the ribs. The mac and cheese tasted like cooked macaroni, no cheese flavor at all. My daughter had overcooked chicken nuggets for $16? I will say, the cornbread was pretty good. This establishment is a MUST for vacationers here. My friend and I both agree this was the best hamburger we have ever had in decades. The beef was amazing. The craft beers were fresh and stellar. An excellent place to take children or to dine with your wife or girlfriend. They have a gem panning "creek" for the kids. Indoor or outdoor patio seating around fire pits. Apparently the some days they have entertainment. Completely dog friendly. Friendly friendly staff. Friendly, friendly owners. Walked in, expecting a good time. Super Bowl Sunday and all. Walked in with my wife. The place was empty, red flag. Should have left at that point. Decided to give them a chance. Support small business. Sat down, the game wasn't even on. They put it on at our request. And that's all we got. No water, no wait staff, no nothing.. no telling us we had to order at counter..for over 20 minutes. Just sat there. We had our order ready. They were just standing around doing absolutely NOTHING. They saw we were there, but no one provided service or let us know we had to order at the counter, so we left. Never again, and we suggest nobody else waste their time. This is a great find! I had the grass fed burger which was DELICIOUS! Locally sourced grass fed beef straight from the ranch. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich and coleslaw. He's from the south and this hit the spot, need I say more. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Especially, Roxanna! Everything was clean and well cared for.
