We've been wanting shaved snow for quite some time now and we found Frostcity! When we arrived it was around probably 4-5 PM. There was nobody there but us, which was nice. We decided to order their regular strawberry/mango combo frost. After ordering we took a seat and waited for our dessert! We didn't have to wait too long, since we were the only ones there. Their regular size was a nice shareable size between me and Hubby. It was so good and has to be one of the best shaved snow we've had in a long time! Came here with some friends since one of them said this place is her fave. We came here on Friday at around 10pm and it was packed! The parking in the back kind of sucks since it's so small. Some of our friends had to wait about 5 minutes for others to leave so they could find parking. There were people standing outside and eating since all of the tables were full. I got the Lychee and Watermelon and it was so refreshing! The perfect airy, light treat paired nicely with fresh fruits and mochi! The large is a perfect size to share between two people. My friend got the Jasmine Milk Tea with grass jelly. She said that she had ordered it with 75% sweetness but it tasted like there was no sugar at all. It feels like I have been for a year for the reopening. Their new location is slightly easy to miss, the parking in the back can be extremely full, and the grand reopening line can vary. When I arrived, 2 tables were still open, and there wasn't a line. A short time after ordering, every table was full, and there were at least 30 people in line/waiting. I got my favorite combo frost and watched the spectacle of Frost City customers. Lychee Watermelon Combo Frost- 9/10. It's one of my favorites of all time. This little place I'm sure most know is in Mo'ili'ili and is a fair decent sized place with several tables in a cool air conditioned room help keep me cool in this heat (85o today) offering me a place to enjoy my frost before it melts into a sticky mess is a choice I'd prefer. I got the small Green Tea for $5.95 which they ask if it's for here or Togo and chose to stay which was plated up so beautifully with chunks of fresh fruits (watermelon and pineapples) and little mochi balls drizzled with condensed milk, each refreshing bite cooled down my exhaust...aaaaahhhh! Came after dinner and got Mud pie and strawberry mango. It's made differently than shave ice, the ice is flavored then shaved so there's no real sauce like shave ice. I think I liked the Mid Pie better maybe because it had a chocolate drizzle. The strawberry mango was good but not as flavorful as shave ice. Just a totally different product. I liked that it came with fresh fruit and mochi which adds a lot to it. It's a nice dessert alternative to shave ice, as most shave ice places are closed after dinner. We went into Frostcity late one night on a whim (we literally just typed "dessert" into Google Maps and went to the closest place) but we ended up really loving it! First off, Frostcity has a variety of Asian dessert options on the menu: - Smoothies/boba - Traditional dessert soups - "Frost" snow ice The "frost" ice shave are their specialty. Super airy, thinly shaved, cream ice, that piles up like a tower on your plate. When it's on your spoon, it almost feels weightless, and when you put it in your mouth, it quickly disappears and you want another bite! My mom ordered the coconut, which tasted like a lightly-sweet coconut cream and didn't taste artificial (I usually don't like coconut-flavored things). I ordered the cookies and cream, which I was initially skeptical about because it just looked like vanilla ice with cookie crumbles tossed on top, but then I tasted it and realized that they'd layered more cookies inside. Each dish came with a couple of fruit and chichidango mochi on the side. My mom's teeth are sensitive to cold, and she said that the frost ice shave was so airy that it didn't hurt her teeth like regular ice cream. My friend ordered the walnut soup with taro balls. Savory sweet, warm, and delicious! Dessert soups aren't really my thing, but these will be super nostalgic for anyone who grew up eating these in places like Taiwan. Seating is very limited inside (only around 3 tables of 4 and one larger table that seats around 8) so it's not really a "hang out and do your homework all day" kind of cafe. We discovered Frostcity the last time we visited Honolulu (at their old location) and had been dreaming about their delicious snow dessert ever since. We had the Lychee & Watermelon snow dessert one day and the Black Sesame and Coconut snow dessert on another day. The Lychee & Watermelon one is very refreshing and light, perfect on a warm day. As other reviewers have mentioned, the Lychee flavor is subtle compared to the Watermelon but you can taste it. The Black Sesame was a bit overpowering compared to the Coconut flavor but it was still delicious. It's not a visually appealing dessert since it looks like dirty snow, but it sure tasted good. We didn't try any of the other drinks or desserts so I can't comment but they do a terrific job on the snow desserts. I'm not a big fan of sno cones or shave ice but the snow desserts are not as sweet and just fluffy and fun to eat! read more

I was surprised when friends visiting from Chicago who went last night said they wanted to go again. The young ones liked it so much they said they could eat there every night! It's been a while since I've been and I was surprised at how crowded they were at 9:30 pm. It was so busy we had to wait for parking to open up in their little lot. This Taiwanese style shave ice is a lovely melt in your sensation quite different from what we normally know as shave ice in Hawaii. With its natural fruit flavors, it has just the right amount of sweetness so you can keep eating and eating it without feeling full or over sugared. Love the selection of both traditonal and more "interesting" flavors including durian ! You can order single or combo flavors. It comes with diced fruit, mochi, and little juice balls depending on which flavor you order. There are some nondairy options too. We got the lilikoi which was nice and just slightly tart in a good way. Refreshing! I also sampled someone else's mud pie which was an ORGASMIC marriage of coffee ice with chocolate crumbles on top! Mmmmmm!!!! (Oops! Forgot to photograph) I wasn't as excited about the Thai tea another friebd had. Prices are a little more reasonable than Jejubing which is more trendy and cool. We were regulars (at least when we visited Oahu) at the old location by Puck's Alley--they moved to a bit larger and a bit more accessible location further down King's street closer towards Ala Moana. The desert is very unique--I much prefer the shaved fruit-juice over traditional shaved ice, as the flavor is embedded into every bite, and the texture is more creamy and ice-cream like rather than being "ice". I don't know what the calorie count is, but it's probably a good bit less than a cream based confection like ice cream or gelato, but still retains the cream-y texture--win-win! read more

Frostcity just reopened at their new location two weeks ago. 1517 South King Street right after Pandas Express, right before Kalakaua Ave. This place is too small, when we left, people were lined up outside of the door. Parking in the back of the building is tight, and slightly sloped. I suggest dropping grandma off before parking. Their snow-ice is still the best in town because it's made with real fruit and is so light and fluffy that it immediately melts when it touches your tongue - just like snowflakes. read more

Didn't feel like eating dinner and just wanted something cold and fresh when to Jamba Juice, but even though the hours posted say close at 9:00 pm they Ala Moana location was already closed at 8:30 pm? So most smoothie place close except Frostcity which opens until 10:00 pm on weekday and 11:00 pm on weekends, When we got there there were about 6 tables open, but as we were there it was full and customers were still coming in! They are located in the University area in Moilili area and they have parking in front of their outlet. My wife had the chocolate boaba smoothie which she enjoyed very much and I had the orange dream smoothie! Woahhh Frostcity's took me on an International journey back to Taiwan! There were so many wonderful flavors to choose from. We got three bingsas (aka party in yo mouth)~ strawberry and mango, cookies n cream and durian! The bingsa had a wonderful texture; super soft and fluffy. Each bite puts an instant smile on your face. We also tried the taro and sweet potato balls with milk tea which was my favorite dessert when we went to Taiwan. The taro and sweet potato balls has a similar texture as mochi and worked well with the cold grass jelly. Don't let the outside fool you, it might look small but theres plenty of seating inside. There was no wait when we got there and our desserts came out super fast. It was very good - but wickedly overpriced, - the grapes were fresh and pineapple was recently prepared. The durian flavor was nice, not overwhelming. The staff looked scared but were friendly. I would recommend if you are going to sell ice, not even ice cream, you charge a little less. Otherwise going Jejubing seems like a better bargain for a similar product and their prices are reasonable based on the depth of their dessert and its presentation.
