The cake was incredible! The service was lacking. We chose Frosted Cakery as our cake vendor because when my husband and I first moved in together we lived in an apartment right behind the Tower District location and we really wanted to incorporate those early days of our relationship into the big day. The cake itself was beautiful and delicious. We chose honey butter and lemon as the flavors and guests loved both! We had so many people taking pictures of the cake which was the perfect combination of our inspiration photo and made for a great backdrop to our sweetheart's table. The customer service was spotty. We had a great cake tasting and we left the appointment confident that they understood our vision. A few days after the final payment was made I checked-in via email to confirm our flavors see if there was any additional questions. I never received a response. My mom called both locations and never was able to talk to someone about our cake. My planner also emailed and called. Finally, our planner go ahold of someone who claimed to have left me several voicemails which was simply untrue. They finally called me and once again claimed they had left voicemails but my call log showed that this was the first call I had from them. I was very nervous that the cake would just not show up on the day of, but my wedding planner added them to her follow-up list and confirmed all the details so I didn't have to worry about it anymore. Without my planner that interaction over the phone would have sent me into full-blown panic mode. In the end, the cake was perfect! I just wish their communication was as great. read more

I was born and raised in Fresno but moved some time ago and visited my parents for the week. I was looking for something sweet and locally made. I came across the Frosted Cakery on Yelp and decided to give the place a try. The location is a quaint shop in the Tower District. Parking was easy due to having a parking lot right next door. The bakery offered a table or two outside for eating their deliciousness but be aware in the afternoons it's full sun. I went in, and there were probably four girls work, talking, standing around, which surprised me because this bakery is locally owned and quaint. I guess I expected maybe two staff members. Not a bad thing; I was just surprised to see that many people work a half-hour before closing time on a Saturday. The staff was not wearing gloves, but they were wearing masks. The vibe of the team was mixed. One lady was friendly and helpful, where the others that were standing around/over the cupcakes talking were...I don't know, blah and a little snotty/rough, you could say. The vibe wasn't very welcoming. The one lady asked me what I would like to purchase, and I mentioned I've never been to the bakery before, she welcomed me, and that was it. So I, as it seems like you have to do anymore, asked what some of their popular flavors were and what they recommended. I also asked if the cupcakes were made daily; she looked surprised, hesitated, and then shyly said, "Yes, they are made daily." I knew by her response and body language that they weren't. She gave me the rundown of every single cupcake instead of high lighting a couple. It didn't help me decide, so I just went with it. I looked over all the flavors and picked out a half dozen and one of their specialty unicorn cupcakes. I decided on the salted caramel, honey butter, raspberry zinger, chocolate fudge, snickerdoodle, and Bordeaux. They boxed them up and rang me up. Over $45 for six cupcakes and a specialty cupcake?! What?! That seemed high to me, but I wanted to support a local bakery, and so I quietly paid and left. When I arrived at my parents, we dug in. Who could resist the yummy look cupcakes?! Not us! So I tried the chocolate fudge and was immediately disappointed. I gave my mom the other half, and I asked what she thought. Her reaction was the same as mine. The cupcake was old and hard! Ugh, this set the tone for the others. I specifically asked if they were baked daily. This cupcake was obvious a day or two old cupcake. I was disappointed as one would be. Thankfully, we were pleasantly surprised with the rest. The rest of the cupcakes were soft, moist, and oh so delicious. The Bordeaux was terrific! My mom enjoyed the raspberry zinger and the salted caramel. My dad, on the other hand, has a sweet tooth and liked them all. He was no help, lol! The honey butter was okay. It left a film in my mouth which I didn't care for. My daughter's specialty unicorn cupcake was extremely sweet. It was a rainbow jello cake with whipped cream and fruity marshmallow filling. She didn't even eat half; maybe a quarter of that. Way too sweet, and the rest went to waste as she never ate the rest. Not sure if the cupcakes were worth $40-$45, but it was a nice treat for us. If the cupcakes were more significant and the customer service was more welcoming, I would have given more stars. read more

The frosting really tasted freshly made and the cupcakes themselves were soft and chewy. Finally found a go to bakery here in Fresno. After living in San Francisco for the majority of my life I was spoiled by all the wonderful bakeries around me. My spouse found this little gem and has ordered a few custom ordered things for me there. Not to mention their cannoli . He also ordered our anniversary cake from them that he had them make exactly to my aesthetic and culinary delight ! I am not easy to please when it comes to pastries but I was very happy. ----- So the above was my review Preoandemic when I gave them 5 stars- Now sadly its gone down to 1 star. Ordered my anniversary cake here and the frosting was filled with sugar granules. We were crunching with every bite. This also made the cake over the top sickly sweet. No more subtleness here folks. It had a real " no love , hurry up and get this finished production line " taste. I could have saved the $65 dollars and baked a better one myself. Their cannoli also tastes different , not as good. I don't know if the same people are baking here or not but it was a huge disappointment to not have an edible anniversary cake. read more

I had an appointment for a wedding cake tasting at the Bullard location. I paid 25 dollars for the appointment. I was under the impression that I would get to taste several kinds of cakes. as the appointment progressed, A list of different types of cakes was shown and when we asked to sample a piece, we were told there wasn't any. all in all, we only tried one slice of cake and two cupcakes. The lady in charge would tell us that they ran out of several flavors. We had this appointment set for three weeks and I feel like they should have been prepared for our appointment. She never even attempted to give us any other options to try the samples, there was another employee that was very gracious and offered to get us a sampler of different cakes to try but the owner looked at her and shot down the idea. I am not sure if the main lady was having a rough day but it seemed like she didn't care to try to accommodate us. We were not asking for much, just to get our money's worth. This was my first time wedding cake sampling and I feel like they should have been prepared for our appointment. If I am in the wrong, I will gladly change my rating. It seems like my fiance and I were treated differently than other people who've had appointments with this company. I really hope that race wasn't an issue since we are an interracial couple. All the other couples who recommended this place to us had great experiences except for us. If I am in the wrong, I will gladly revise my post and score. I love their cookies and cupcakes so much!! Unfortunately, the customer service needs work. Lots of work. I was there this week and looking at the cakes in the fridge. When I opened the door to get a closer look, someone rushed out of the kitchen and right up next to me and said, "Can I help you with something?" She ran over like I was taking one or something. She sounded suspicious of me and wasn't friendly. She stood leaning in the doorway with her hand in her hip, staring at me. Such a horrible feeling to be looked at that way! It was my actual birthday that day and I wanted to treat myself to something nice but they rubbed me the wrong way. I decided not to buy a cake from them after all. They have a good selection of cupcakes to choose from. It took me a few minutes to decide which ones to get but in that time, they asked me like 3 times if I was ready. I kept telling them that I was still deciding. They just stood behind the counter and stared me down. Not waited, they stared me down. It wasn't a friendly look, either. It was like a "hurry up and pick something then get out" type of look. This happened to me last time I was there, too. I don't know why they can't deliver service with a smile. If not a smile, at least common courtesy. I ended up getting 3 cupcakes, 3 cookies, and a cake pop. I can't imagine going back any time soon. The cake was so moist and wonderful. The chocolatey flavor wasn't overly sweet nor was it better. The cake was in balanced out with a smooth vanilla bean buttercream. Again I was astonished at how the buttercream kept a great balance of sweet and decadent and did not take away from the overall chocolate goodness that was stored in the three layers. I stopped in for some Valentine's Day goodies. They had so many different options to choose from. Everything was wrapped so cute I wanted to buy it all! There are cookies, cupcakes and even a variety of small cakes for sale. I got a pre packaged Valentine's Day box of 4 cupcakes and a butter cream one to eat that day. The butter cream was wasn't what I expected. The cake was good but the frosting was really dense, cold and way too sweet for me. The soft cake fell apart while the frosting was stiff. The same evening my hubby and I ate some of the other cupcakes. These ones were better than the first one. The cake was soft and the frosting was as well. I hadn't been in awhile but had a coupon from one of those fundraising books and thought I'd pick up some cupcakes for some visiting family. Mid afternoon on the Saturday before Mother's Day I found such a great selection of cupcakes , cakes, and even beautiful Mother's Day cookies !! I got a super cute cat mom cookie and two omg-gorgeous cupcakes for my mom and dad. I could have bought one of everything--everything looked so yum! Stopped by their new location and bought a few cupcakes. Still ordered even though one of the cupcakes behind the glass had a nice long hair on it. The salted caramel was extremely sweet - you can feel the sugar in the frosting. The raspberry cupcake was not nearly as sweet but I still couldn't eat any of the frosting. Worst part was, I ordered three pup cakes (which I've ordered several times before at their other location) and was beyond disappointed when I got home. I ordered from here the other day. I was really excited about trying this place. I ordered a rainbow chip cupcake, a salted Carmel cake and rainbow cake. My cupcake was not fresh, dry and frosting wasn't good and the rainbow cake should have a warning that each layer is flavored, never in my life have I had a grape flavored cake and never do I want to again.
