I didn't believe Roby H. when he said the donuts were sold out by 8:30 - that was dumb of me. I got to Frosty's a little after 8 on a Thursday morning and there was only about two dozen donuts left. Everything was delicious. The yeast donuts are fluffy but still had a nice chew to them. My favorite cake donut was the blueberry and favorite raised donut was the boston cream - which I'm not usually a fan of. Tip: If you have self control, order the cinnamon roll. If you lack self control but don't mind eating a cinnamon roll the size of your face then get the cinnamon roll. read more

They have the best glazed donuts I've ever had! Their regular glazed donuts and glazed donut twists are the best I've ever had! You won't appreciate donuts again after you've had one of Frosty's...at least for glazed donuts. The only downside I have of this family-run donut shop is that every other donut isn't as tasty. Most of the donuts are very dry and not as moist as the glazed donuts. I'm not sure if they make those donuts at their store. Otherwise I highly recommend going to Frosty's. It's one of my favorite donut shops, the family who runs it is very friendly and it opens at 4am!!! read more

Late review: the donuts are killer. The staff was very unfriendly and short, not what I've experienced in Maine. Whenever I asked about a speciality item when picking out a half dozen..I was met with a Short, curt "that's not a donut" without any further explanation or price offer. Although their speciality items are on display among the donuts, not in their own section or shelf and there is nothing marking what is and is not a donut on the tray labels. I work at a Summer Camp in Maine during the Summer. On one of my off days, I decided to head to Kennebunkport and on the way, I wanted to stop for a donut. Based on Yelp reviews I decided to go to Frosty's. Before ordering, I asked if they accepted cards. I was politely told that they do not, but that I could get a donut and come back the next day and bring cash. I was disappointed, and told the lady that I was from out of town and wouldn't be around again. She said "Well, you can't leave without having a donut." I politely declined, but she wouldn't take no for an answer. She gave me a free donut! The customer service alone was enough for me to give Frosty's 5 stars! The donut was also awesome. I definitely plan on going back next summer and buying a dozen... and paying for 13. This place is great and the woman that runs it is a genuinely great person-- we need more people like her in the world! read more

ONCE AMAZING - NOW JUST DONUTS. I grew up with Frosty's Donuts and they used to be ridiculously amazing. The older couple that used to own it produced superb, melt-in-your-mouth, ultra-fresh donuts. Glazed to perfection and still a bit crispy from the fryer. Sometimes you could even get them when they were still warm in the middle and the glaze was barely holding on to the surface. When the business was sold a few years back, the donuts were just as fantastic as before - AT FIRST (the business was sold with the original recipe and training - I had inquired when it was for sale). Since then, the once-unbelievable donuts have steadily declined in quality. They are now cold, slightly better than DD donuts. This is probably because the donuts are no longer produced freshly on-site, but in a factory-like setting and shipped to all the satellite locations. It's a shame, but I realize money talks - especially when its cash only! I had been wanting to write a review for awhile. It seemed like after each visit my wife and I were always discussing how the donuts were now nothing special and we should do a Yelp write-up. The last straw came this morning. Today is Mother's Day. I got up at 5am and shot over to the new Lisbon Falls, ME location for a breakfast treat for my wife and kids. This store is brand new and has only been open a few days so far. My kids and I put together a platter of donuts, brewed a hot cup of coffee, and brought them up to my wife in bed with all of our cute cards. Everything was going nicely until a few bites into her Boston Cream, my daughter found mold on the bottom. THEN, I found it on the bottom of some of the other donuts in the same dozen. YUCK! If I can post a photo, I will. These may be amazing donuts for out-of-towners, but for people that grew up with Frosty's in Brunswick - I'm sure you'll agree there is no Frosty's like the original Frosty's (when they cared about the donuts, not business expansion). read more

Three times, I've placed a specific order, provided a specific time I'd arrive for pickup, and each time, they either gave my order to someone else or closed before the stated time. Today, the owner said "no problem" when placing my order, and I specifically said I'd arrive at 11. Yet, we showed up at 11 to find them closed. I will never order from here again, and warn this business that it needs to shape up or lose more previously loyal customers. The last time this happened, they gave me what few donuts they had unhand free, although I didn't want them and felt put on the spot. I could say it was an honest mistake to assume we weren't showing up, but this happens again? No way! Bake more donuts to meet the demand, extend hours, or tell customers you won't hold their orders. THis service is beyond ridiculous. We'll go to TIm Hortons from now on. read more

Update to an update! Frosty's has reopened under new management from an amazing couple! Nels, whose taken Mr. Frost's post in the kitchen, is using the old master's recipe - so do not fear: it all tastes as good as ever. The Jesus stuff has miraculously vanished, replaced with a new paint job and framed vintage photos of Bob, June, and the heyday of Spudnuts. They even have T-shirts now! It's so great to see a childhood favorite come back to life, respectful of it's creators but eager to improve on greatness (they just opened a Freeport location, too)! read more

Okay - So I have always been a huge fan of Frosty's but lately, I'm dissatisfied that I am paying so much more for less. My flavors are Coconut Cream and Boston Cream. While eating my donut, I am wondering "Where's the cream. I can take several bites of donut before I find any cream. So given the high price point for the donuts, I am not expecting them to scrimp on filling the donut. I don't need the cream bursting at the seams but getting some cream earlier in the experience would be nice. This is a deliberate deceit. The machine that fills the donut has a regulated setting and it obviously has been set to fill less. Not a good game to play with your customers. If you are not getting a filled donut or haven't been a long term customer to notice the difference, you probably will be very satisfied with their product. read more

I am a glazed donut freak. They are my favorite. I like them soft not so much cake like. I used to love frosty glazed donughts. However the last 2 times the glazed i got were not equal to what I have gotten in the past. Can't say why the difference but there was. The Boston cream were great but not the glazed. read more

WARNING: Highly addictive. The donuts are amazing, the twists are my favorite they seriously melt in your mouth. Just as a tip they only take cash or check but when I had neither they gave me my order on the honor system. I was able to get my breakfast and come back and pay. I got a blueberry donut here and my friend got a maple vanilla one. Both hit the spot and was surprising to both of us. Flavors popped and you definitely can tell what flavor you got even if blindfolded. I'm not much of a donut fan but this place definitely is yummy. read more

Unfortunately, I was not able to taste these donuts. I am from Utah and we decided to send donuts to our co-workers in Maine. The closest donut shop we could find was Frosty's. We sent a message to Frosty's to see if they would be able to deliver donuts to our co-workers before Christmas. They worked with us like pros to make this happen and it was very easy to do, even from the other side of the country. Our co-workers received the donuts and let us know how delicious they all were.
