They had great service. The waitress was very attentive to our table, and the food was awesome.

Their cuisine is excellent! My son and I both had their steak, along with a baked potato and vegetables. It did not disappoint either of us. I have also had the salmon as well as their large selection of main salads are delicious. Their service was excellent even though it was quite busy. I am so happy they moved to a new location! The new location is a nice balance between homey and upscale. Usually torn between here and Sorellas, tonight the service was what set Frugattis apart! Our servers knowledge of the menu and over all pleasant demeanor was greatly appreciated! Made us feel more like family than just customers. She helped the kids order, was accommodating to food allergies, and continuously offered additional beverages. We are a large demanding crowd (sometimes embarrassing) and she never made me feel that way. Her recommended dessert and ice cream from Sweet fix was the perfect end to our night! We didn't know what to expect it was our first time for dinner ever in 23 years and my first time here in 9 years. (We had lunch) we have Italians in my family so there is no need to cheat on them with restaurant food. Richard B. was our server and he was absolutely amazing. Very attentive , funny and He recommended my meal which I loved. We started out with the bread and moved on to the sampler platter which includes stuffed sausage mushrooms, Foccacia bread and chicken "thingys" their word not mine.. we followed up with the Bayou Ridge Fettuccine, Papo Pasta, Beef Braciole ala Basilicata, Lobster Ravioli. All very tasty in their own right and all dishes were not only amazing but very large in size.Lobster Ravioli was very good but left us wanting more. One of the original Italian eateries in Bakersfield, Ca. Frugatti's has been around so long they can almost be considered vintage. During Covid times, they have set up a nice tent outside for safe and comfortable dining! I applaud the owners for taking such as precautions, and want to thank them for caring for their customers. On this afternoon my date and I had to wait a bit for seating, but this should be expected if you arrive without reservations. The host was kind, and quickly brought our drinks to the table. Our waitress was delightful and made the best recommendations! My wife and I ate so well! I cannot wait to return for their pizzas! What a cool place!! Super low key. Loud enough for little ones, but not too loud to have a sweet conversation date. Don't let the name "Wood Fired Italian" throw you like it did us initially. We thought it was just another pizza joint calling itself an "Italian restaurant". Boy were we wrong! Their menu is extensive! So many amazing things to choose from. We overheard the waiter next to us explaining that they can easily accommodate those with celiac and other food sensitivities. Service: our server Desiree' was attentive, jovial, and fun. Apps: We had the bacon wrapped asparagus. Just get it. It's delicious!! Salad: We both had a caprese salad which tasted very fresh! Courses: my husband had the spaghetti with meat sauce and meatballs. (For those wondering, you get about 2 good sized meatballs) He said the seasoning was good, and tasted homemade. I had the Papo Pasta. Chefs kiss! Rigatoni with sliced sausage and a creamy cheesy sauce. SO delicious! Wine: Their selection was good. We chose a Malbec and were not disappointed. A few weeks ago Tuesday was my first time at the new Frugatti's location and my waitress Madison assigned to our table was beyond our expectations. She provided the best recommendations from the menu based on our palate/diet; she even went above and beyond with tips on what pairs best between the entrees and appetizers. The ambiance of the new Frugatti location was lovey and I am also pleased with the customer service making it even more enjoyable. Ordered take out today. Chicken Alfredo for my son and lasagna for myself. Chicken Alfredo was different than what he expected. It had almonds on it and very light Alfredo sauce, almost non existent. He wasn't a fan. The lasagna was ok, very cheesy and not enough sauce in my opinion. Props to them on the carrot cake, it was delicious! A local classic! I've definitely been here several times throughout the years and even had take out delivered. PARKING. IS. ATROCIOUS. That's half of the reason for the missing star. You just literally CANNOT find a spot in the lot. They've packed so many businesses into such a small place over the years that you're lucky if you find a spot when you want one. Seating inside is also awkward. Seating is important to a restaurant experience in terms of comfort, convenience, etc. I know they're doing the best with what they've got and the demand for their services, it's just not my favorite. Last -1 star reason, they gave my little kid spicy chicken tenders somehow. And they were SPICY! They gave us a fresh batch, but by the time they came out, we were done so she had to eat them at home. They did comp her meal and offer us a free dessert which we declined, but thanked them for. Mistakes happen, but it feels bigger when it's for a kid! Typically meals are incredible. Anything you get will likely we amazing. I heard they're moving to a new location where I hope parking won't be as limited! 10/10 will return. read more

I haven't been here in over 10 years because of a horrible experience I had with their food. Some special they had tasted like it had Nacho cheese as the sauce and it was disgusting. That made me not to ever want to go back. Well..... I went back. I only went back because my friends wanted to go there and they were paying. I said, "I'll give it another try". So sad I did. The calzone, which I got before tasted like it was pillsbury crescent roll dough and was drowned in butter. The chicken was boiled before being put in the calzone. It was so bad!!! Then I tried my friends meals and just as bad. They were even disappointed. There was half of my small calzone left on my plate and everyone had most of their $20 dishes left on their plate and no one took a To go box. That usually indicates that the food was bad. I honestly don't know why this place has 4 stars and are still open. This might be the only reason they are still open: the service was very good other than not realizing that our plates were full and we didn't want boxes was a sign of bad food. The stuffed mushrooms were good, but you can't really mess that up. And finally the salad and dressing for the side salad was good, one again you can't really mess up lettuce. Needless to say, I will definitely NOT be back even if my friends are paying. read more

I've never had a complaint about the food, it's always good. The service on the other hand was pretty bad. We went on a Saturday and called ahead for a part of 8@1pm. When we got there, the hostess did not have our name and so we were placed at the bottom of the waitlist. Finally got seated after about an hour and waited for about 20 minutes for our waitress to take our drink order. After about 40 minutes, we received our drinks and ordered our food. It took over an hour to receive our food, which came out slightly warm. We ended up at the restaurant for 3.5 hrs total until we finally got our bill. No comps whatsoever. Free drinks or desert would have been nice. Unfortunately, this is the second time it's happened to us since the new restaurant opened. read more

I absolutely love the ambience this place has indoor and outdoor. Inside you have a very family oriented atmosphere and outdoor is a secret garden so gorgeous! Actually very romantic in the evenings with nice weather for those that want to have a first date or parents night out. To start they bring the bread is warm and huge, and drinks, I ordered a martini, lemon drop and whiskey sour all were made immaculately, I seriously wanted to meet the bartender, but it's there is no bar area it's very family oriented that way. When it comes to the food, I love the fitness menu and I order the fitness red pepper chicken fettuccine and it's outstanding! I'm so sad with our experience this week. My daughter graduated and her only wish was to have Frugatti's. We tried to book a reservation for our party of six but there was no availability--which is understandable. So, I decided to order take out and have it at home. I went the day before to order to make sure that it was in, in case there was a rush. We ordered 5 meals. It was ready to be picked up on time and everything seemed good. When we got home, this is what we ended up with. --The Calzone that we purchased was soggy and parts of the crust was raw. --The Lasagna was good and we enjoyed that. --The tortellini was gooey and not cooked well. --The tomato basil eggplant linguini's noodles were hard, not al dente but almost crunchy. --The Fitness chicken penne was not flavorful--and look at the picture, it was supposed to be chicken, but it looks more like beef, not sure what it was. The calzone we threw away but but the Tortellini, and linguini's and tortellini are in the fridge, hoping the next day would be better. Two days later, no one is touching them. Sadly we will be throwing them away, $118 down the drain or in the trash, as the case may be. We've enjoyed the food at the restaurant, but this was subpar, not sure if it was just because it was take out or just a bad night. We ate right after picking it up, so there was no sitting time. Things were still hot, just not good. Embarrassed to have provided this meal as our graduate meal. read more

This place is a gem! They have a pretty big menu with lots of delicious options. We tried the baked artichoke and bruschetta for appetizers. Both were really flavorful and perfect for sharing. The gorgonzola cream penne is *chefs kiss* AMAZING!!! The pasta was cooked perfectly and so freaking good. Portion sizes are generous so you can easily split a dish to try more of the menu. The Nona's pizza was huge and unlike any pizza I've had. The best way to describe the crust is "pillowy". It's soft and airy and they are generous with their cheese! We saved room for tiramisu and I'm so glad we did. It was the perfect way to end a delectable meal. For someone who rarely goes out for a full Italian meal this was a wonderful meal. Our server was great and very friendly. If you're in town or even just passing through definitely stop by for a great Italian dinner! read more

The wait and the place made me expect more, and I was disappointed with the location, food, and staff. I would say it's not as different from chain brands like Romanos or Olive garden. I've tried mom and pops places, but this place is way overrated and overpriced. I wish I had gone to another location. I don't get the reviews. The food is decent, but no distinguishing factor to separate it from another place. The place is overcrowded and loud. I wouldn't recommend it for a date or waiting for a big group. But they do offer an advance waitlist online. I booked via phone, and that was not honored, but online is more accurate. I just visited here, so I wouldn't miss this nor go back when I come back. read more

The ambiance here is unfortunately lacking. My husband and I went here for lunch for the first time the other day. We were excited to see the new location, however it was lacking some serious attention to detail. The patio had a dusty lantern on the wall, not what I expected to see when paying a lot of money to eat at a restaurant. The freshly painted walls had black lines across them where the chairs had rubbed. And the patio felt dingy and unremarkable for such a new restaurant. The service was okay, but certainly wouldn't bring me back. The food isn't worth the price, I can see why some people would like it but it's not my cup of tea.
