Really delicious Japanese-French pastries! I've tried a variety of items, and none have disappointed. The malasadas are different than your typical yeasted donut--cakier but still light and fluffy, kind of reminiscent of a madeleine. The beef curry is super flavorful and crispy, though I wish it were a little bigger in size for the price. The cannele was a bit too caramelized for my taste, but still one of the better ones I've had. We also got the mixed veggie focaccia, which was fresh and perfectly crusty. I've come twice, both around midday on a weekend and weekday. They definitely start selling out of some popular items and flavors later in the day, so I'd suggest coming before 1pm to have more selection to choose from. WOW this bakery is a 5/5!! Stumbled upon it on Yelp and was luckily in the neighborhood this morning so I was able to quickly pop by. You almost miss it since it's so small on the corner and just a walk up, but make an effort to come by because it's sooo good!! They had a big variety of pastries that go beyond simple croissants. Ohmygod Fuji Bakery brings me SUCH joy! This is my favorite local bakery in Seattle so far, just purely based on the variety of sweet and savory pastries and the fact that it is an Asian bakery. They're so popular that they do frequently sell out, so get there early if you want your best pick of options. The malasadas (Portuguese donuts), specifically the crunchy cream ones, are their most popular (and dare I say, best) item. The lilikoi (passionfruit) and ube ones are pretty good too. Other favorites include the milk bread (so simple yet so delicious!!), Portuguese egg tart, and apple croissant. Coffee pairs well with their pastries, too. I've been to both the ID and Interbay locations, but am personally biased towards this one because a) I love the ID and b) I'm a sucker for a cute walk-up window situation, haha. 10/10 would recommend to anyone in town. read more

I hear the Ube malasada is also pretty good. Drinks: my favorite has to be the hojicha latte (iced!). Do not recommend the matcha latte at all, taste very much like a pre mix powder. Y'all. Y'ALL. They have DRIP. COFFEE. GOOD drip coffee, at that! Everything else about this bakery rules, but they are getting 5 starts for their EXCELLENT drip coffee. I know - this is Seattle, and we cherish our coffee drinks here. But, sometimes? I don't want fancy. I don't want to have to concentrate on what kind of bean is boing used, what kind of milk I want in the latte, whether or not there is crema on my espresso shot, and would I care for a pourover? And NO - an Americano is NOT the same as Drip! No. No, I don't. I want hot bean water that has the gogo juice in it. I don't want to have to think - I just want something to wake me up, so I can think later. Drip coffee accomplishes that. And since Starbucks closed their store across the street in a blatently obvious union-busting move, this is also one of the only places to get a decent drip coffee around here. I love this place, and will be getting drip here more often, for sure. read more

Cute, quaint bakery located right off the heart of China Town! Just a block down from Uwagimaya. Very small, the bakery only has a few seats so I wouldn't rely on finding a spot to sit and study here. This cafe has a variety of pastries from full cakes, to cookies, to savory beef curry buns. I came here a few hours before closing and they still had a large selection available. There is also coffee and espresso that you can purchase. We were looking for a small cake to feed 5 people and they had the perfect (maybe 6 inch) strawberry cake that was so yummy! The cake was light and airy and had 2 layers that were lightly soaked on top with a simple syrup. The middle cream layer had some fresh strawberry slices and there were some more strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries on top for decoration. We all loved it and it was only $30! We had walked around to the other bakeries in the area and this was the best deal. Give this bakery a try! read more

Fuji Bakery is a great tiny bakery that's open early in the morning compared to other places in the area. You can grab coffee and pastries of your choice and you pretty much can't go wrong with anything. Thr selection is unique enough that you can find whatever you feel like that day...savory..sweet..or even refrigerated bakeries like soft cakes/desserts. The portion is quite small (some of them on a slightly pricey side compared to the size though), so you can probably grab a few to try out, too. They also don't have formal seatings per we...just a few or may 4-5 spots at the bar, so you may have to grab them to go. I got the smoked salmon brioche ($2.50) and a beef curry ($3) and they were both pretty good! The brioche was a little dry but it's got a nice chunk and a pleasant aroma of a smoked salmon chunk in it. I actually loved their beef curry. It wasn't oily, there was a nice crunch when you bite into it and the curry wasnt too overpowering either. P.S. their prices are already tax inclusive. read more

I've passed by all the time, but never felt like coming in and purchasing something until today. Overall, would come again. I tried their chocolate strawberry shortcake, fraise, and ham and cheese croissant. They always have samples of some of their popular items, so stop by and check it out (that's how I had the chocolate strawberry shortcake). The bite I had was delicious. It wasn't overly sweet, had a nice chocolate flavor that was light in the cream. The cream was airy and not too oily. There was a good balance between cream and cake. I do think that the cake was a little dry. The fraise is composed of puff pastry with a center-topped layer of custard (like what would be in fruit tarts), whipped cream, and several strawberry slices covered in syrup (to make them sweet since it's not strawberry-season for about another month). The puff pastry was flaky and well layered. It had a good crispness to it. The custard was the right amount, enough to compliment the overall taste. The whipped cream and strawberries were good too. Overall, it was a well balanced pastry. The ham and cheese croissant was also well-layered and had a nice balance between the ham and cheese. They were really nice and friendly; outgoing enough to call out "Welcome" to you when you catch their eye/first walk in. The space is very small, so it is not a good location to stay at, more of a pickup-and-go type of bakery. They have a quick service to get you any of the drinks you want or grab any of the pastries from their large cases. In addition, they have a notice for those with gluten allergies, specifying that they have pastries which are gluten-free but are made in a gluten-environment and so they can not be 100% if there is cross contamination and don't want to risk your health. So they recommend to not get their pastries if you have celiac disease. read more

The malasada is essentially a Chinese buffet sugar biscuit, but rounder around the edges, filled with a light flavored creme, and softer to chew and pull apart. These were my favorite part of Fuji Bakery. The olive stick is not worth the toothsome journey to completion. I kept chewing to find something worth swallowing, The lack of olive variety leaves it a mostly bland chewy breadstick, lacking in some respects. Maybe an Ube hummus to dip it in could elevate this item? The drinks are refreshing, but sadly nothing to shake a stick at. I could throw a rock and get bubbly with lychee jelly around these parts, so like an overloaded Atlas, I must not carry the incredible weight of hyping their drinks. Visited this location for the first time last weekend. Got two malasada style doughnuts (crunchy cream which is apparently their most popular, and match), four canneles, a beef curry "bread", ham and cheese croissant, and custard bun. All together with a latte it was a little over $30, so prices aren't unreasonable. We LOVE their canneles. I've eaten them before (from the Bellevue Uwajimaya locations) and they're good even 2 days later. If you've had canneles before and like them, I highly recommend them! The malasadas are good, but I don't see the hype around the crunchy cream one. The flavor isn't unique, though the crunchy texture is fun. I much preferred the match filling. The beef curry bun is solid and filling, though with less of a curry punch than others I've had. The ham and cheese croissant is mostly unremarkable, though generous on the filling compared to some others. The custard bun was the least impressive and I'd say you can skip it. Parking was easy on a Sunday, and I love how their display is set up so you can see things to order before getting to the register to pay. Of note, I accidentally hit the zero too many times when paying so I tipped ten times more than I intended. The person beyond the counter was super nice about it and told me they would refund me. Today I just checked my credit card and while I do have a refund, it's not the full amount that I expected back. I guess my fault for making a mistake? read more
