Ube-9/10 really delightful but needs more ube flavor Azuki-6/10 lacking for being the most expensive but not that great Matcha-10/10 not too sweet and strong matcha flavor! Definitely the best one All malasadas had really nice soft texture and well coated with sugar! Size was a bit small compared to ones I had in Hawaii and prices were higher but better flavors. Legitimately would fight someone over how good this place is just wow. I decided to come by on a weekend with my friend to grab some early morning treats and left the place with $60 worth of goods -- I think that in itself gives you a good idea of how much I liked this place. My initial thought was to grab a couple of malasadas but a couple turned into 10 l o l I wanted to try them all so I got ube, matcha, lilikoi, crunchy cream, and regular (unfilled) malasadas. Grabbed a beef curry pan for the husband and also got an everything bread roll. Can I just say wowow some of the best malasadas I have been able to find outside of Hawaii. They were all delicious but my rank was ube, lilikoi, matcha, crunchy cream, regular in that order. I was obsessed with the ube one and will continue to dream about it l o l my husband loved the beef curry so A+ adn I have to say that we both enjoyed the everything bread roll. I literally need to go back and try the matcha cruffin, the sandos/cakes/milk sticks aka everything l o l there is parking though limited on the side of the building which worked out well for us. Getting up at the crack of dawn to do some exploring before going home. I wanted to check out the Japantown district of Seattle. To start I had to get something for breakfast. What better way to start the day then a Ube Cream Pan, Curry Pan and a Japanese egg salad sandwich. Although this place is remote where the pastries are delivered, it was not disappointing. The pastries taste fresh and were delicious, with just enough softness inside and crackly outside. Although they didn't seem to have everything in stock at opening time, I had plenty to fill my cravings. The egg salad sandwich hit the spot around brunch time with a sweet soft boiled egg and mayo. You can see most of the pastries available at the window and around the corner you order right at their door from the outside. I wish the display had the prices on them. I'm happy that they still have everything I wanted to try! Here's what I ordered: BEEF CURRY - $4.95 100% Angus Beef Curry, Coated in Japanese Bread Crumb. I wish I had an air fryer to re-heat this but it's still a very good savory pastry. The meat filling was tasty and flavorable and I would have appreciated more of it, and it went so well with the sweet soft pastry. MALASADA - UBE - $3.75 It's pretty much a sugary donut with an Ube filling. It's okay and you defiantly taste the Ube flavors, which I wish there was more of. Otherwise I felt this pastry was mostly doughnut dough that I ended up not eating. Maybe if it was glazed instead of covered in sugar I'd enjoy it more. MALASADA - CRUNCHY CREAM - $3.75 This looked interesting because it was covered in crunchy corn flakes! However there was barely any on mine. Was waiting in line for the Hong Kong Cafe next door and noticed a line forming at Fuji Bakery. So why not kill 2 birds with one stone? I picked up the following items for my cabin trip and they still tasted really good after reheating them in the conventional oven the next morning. Ube Malasada Matcha Malasada S'mores Croissant Cream cheese Danish Raspberry Clafoutis Veggie Quiche The malasadas reminded me of Leonard's Bakery in Hawaii but with an Asian twist. Texture of the fried dough is very soft and you can tell they use clean oil when they fried this. I came here near the end of the day so a majority of their beautiful baked goods were not available. I should have known better :( All good though because I was able to nab their last curry bun and ube malasada and they were both wonderful! I am OBSESSED with curry buns and the one here had a great crunch and chewy texture to it. It was even better because they warmed it up and then the meat filling was a meal on its own. The malasada was super fluffy and there was no shortage of filling. Would get this again but need to make it out to get their infamous crunchy cream! Just wanted to update to say while restaurants are still closed, Fuji has a fast and seamless curbside option. I placed my order on their very easy to use website and less than an hour later I had an email and a text my order was ready to pick up. You pay online, so as soon as they hand you the goods you just drive off. I got a combo of old favorites (curry bun, ham and cheese croissant, macarons) and some new things. The milk stick is delicious, and the long shape makes it easy for little kids to hold and eat. The bacon cheese (also stick shape) was so good! I'm not sure how it manages to be perfectly soft while still having incredibly crisp bacon and cheese on top, but there you go. The mini maple croissants have the perfect touch of sweetness while being flaky and buttery good. In short, every thing I've ever eaten from this little bakery has always been just delicious. Drove all the way from SeaTac to have their pastries. Found them on IG and had to try out their stuff. I was not disappointed at all. I did place an order online ahead to make sure it was ready so I can just pick up since they are in downtown parking can be tricky. I pulled up and got my order that was ready for me right as they promised. Ordered the Crunch Cream and the Ube malasada and they were so good. The only thing wrong is that they are super addicting. This bakery had a decent line upon arrival but it moved quickly. We had the beef curry bun and crunch bun and also a katsu sandwich. The beef curry bun had good flavor and the bun itself was flaky so it complimented the sweet curry insides. Only things I wished was that it wasn't so cold and had more filling for $4/bun. The crunch bun was very good having the sugary and corn flaky outside with the sweet custard filling. The katsu sandwich we had was pretty good but was also very cold since the sandwiches are fridgerated. If we had access to a microwave when we ate it, it would've been much better. All three items had nice presentation, especially the sandwich; it was cut clean and looked appetizing. I highly recommend trying whatever calls out to you but MY favorites are hands down the Almond Croissant and the Ube Malasada. I am really disappointed today. I ordered a dozen pastries. I watched the person put on gloves and put some of my items in a box. Then watched him unstack a bunch of chairs, slide his hands on the wall, continue to put some more items in my box, unstack the rest of the chairs and finish boxing the rest of my pastries with the SAME gloves. You can say I was a bit disgusted. When I got to the clinic I realized that I was missing two items. Tried to call the store. But of course no one answered. This is probably my 4th time visiting Fuji bakery. They offer a variety of pastries from Hawaiian and Filipino inspired flavors to European and Japanese style baking techniques. I love their ube and matcha malasadas because the flavors are not artificial tasting and it's also not overly sweet.
