The number of quality BBQ places in the greater Auburn area has double in the last year. Welcome Full Moon and Jim N Nick's to the scene. Personally, I think the BBQ scene has seen a major upgrade with the addition of these Alabama based chains. This Full Moon is fairly new and does a great job at delivering friendly service, an upbeat atmosphere and a good place to watch sporting events while digging into meat. Reading some of these views on here makes me chuckle. Unfortunately, many customers (and sadly the ones who like to complain on YELP) are out of touch when it comes to the cost of food, what it takes to produce quality BBQ and the added cost of a restaurant in a busy shopping mall. If you take these factors into account Full Moon is fair priced and in line with the competition. Meat isn't cheap. And, while you might find more affordable BBQ at Jim Bob's BBQ in the country somewhere it's not going to have the same quality, atmosphere and quality sides. Full Moon succeeds at several things: offering a wide assortment of entree items, daily fresh vegetables and quality sides. And, fortunately, they don't simply serve potato salad, cole slaw and baked beans here. Sure, you can order those, but they also have things like okra, mashed potatoes, steamed cabbage and many others. In short, there's a side for most folks here and sweet, tasty, cornbread. I've been to Full Moon twice. This location once and the one in Dothan and it didn't take long to get a pulse on the place. Full Moon doesn't have any meats that will put them in the top 10 in the US (yes, I've been to all the places ranked there by many parties), but they do have and endless amount of meats/catfish that are well above average. We couldn't find anything to complain about and you likely won't either, unless you are one of those customers who is never satisfied. They farm raised catfish has tons of flavor and a quality breeding, the ribs are good, the turkey is tender and flavorful, the pork tastes great with their red BBQ sauce, the brisket is lean, smokey and isn't rough in any way. And, while I don't think it's their signature item, the half chicken is awesome. Try any of these pair with a sweet tea - and you'll crave a return next time you're in the mood for BBQ. read more

Our first time here and it was very good lunch. We both had the half rack and baby rack. Combined we had 4 sides. The Mac and cheese was excellent, the collards were very good, the potato salad for me was ok, my husband enjoyed it more with the relish. I really enjoyed the half rack and he loved his baby racks. Great example of a three star place. Nothing real bad & nothing great. First off, folks, if you don't like working where you work, please either leave or fake liking it. A smile or a pleasant comment goes a long way. All I saw was among the staff (three that i was able to observe). I find that very unappetizing. I intentionally walked out by the counter to try to get a "thanks", "hope you liked it", "good night", a SMILE ... anything. Nothing; but nothing is a bit better than the slightly harsh ordering experience that I got upfront - knew right away that she was not happy. Pork - pretty good but only slightly warm. Two stars for that. Brisket - ok, a bit bland and not melt in your mouth but ok. Three stars. Beans - average. Three stars. Collards - average. Three stars. Tea - was not asked nor did I state that I wanted unsweetened, but given my lapse, I do think the server should clarify before pouring. Tea was good. Tasted the sweet & it was not overly sweet. Sauces-tomato based was good; a bit too sweet for me but that's a personal thing. White sauce - good but I like it with chicken so hard to judge. Corn muffin - good. Cute. Finally, she came over just as we were going to leave and waited on us in a surly manner. She didn't greet us and didn't thank us and shoved our drink cups toward us. Barbecue sauce was a bit too sour for me. The white bbq sauce was good though. Also, a little bit pricey. I paid about $16 for this meal without drinks. I have given them sooo many chances, but I'm done. This time I ran over and ordered my daughter a pulled pork sandwich no chow chow and no slaw. I got a brisket sandwich same no chow chow and no slaw. I specifically asked for extra BBQ sauce on all based on past experience here. I also ordered fried and a sweet tea. The tea was the only enjoyable thing out of all of it. This was the driest brisket sandwich I've ever had on my life. And no extra sauce on any of them. Nice texture and moisture in the brisket sandwich. The steak fries also had loads of potential. The barbecue sauce was flavorful as well. The problem is they must not own any seasonings in the house beyond barbecue sauce. The food was bland. We ate here for lunch, and the total was $38. So it's a pricey lunch. We shared brisket, pulled pork, and chicken, with okra and Mac and cheese for sides. All of the meats were very dry and pretty much flavorless, except for the cloyingly sweet sauce. There was so much sauce the meats were swimming in it, yet still very dry. I'm used to barbecue where the meat is very flavorful, moist, and tender, so the sauce is almost an extra. This was tough, dry, and I'd be shocked if it was seasoned at all. Similarly, the Mac and cheese was very bland. The only "good" part of the meal was the okra. This place is grossly overpriced. It has been extremely busy since it opened over a week ago, so I was excited to see what the hype was about. The menu is pretty large. They offer pork, beef, chicken, turkey, salads, sandwiches, etc. It's a counter service restaurant. They bring your food out to your table by screaming out your number and looking for a raised hand. Other than that, it's self-service. If you need any refills other than tea, you have to get it from behind the main counter. My husband and I both ordered a chopped pork plate, which came with two sides of our choice, a toasted bun, a spoonful of chow-chow and two slices of dill pickles. We both ordered macaroni & cheese and fried okra. Each plate is $12.99. Drinks are extra. The meat was tender and had a decent flavor, but I've definitely had better at lots of other bbq restaurants. The offerings of bbq sauce and Alabama white sauce on the tables allowed you to inject a little more flavor. The macaroni was pretty bland. The okra was crisp and hot. The toasted bun was warm and buttery, but if I'd wanted a bun, I would've ordered a sandwich. The star of the plate was the tablespoon of chow-chow on the side of the meat. It's crazy good, but if you want any extra, you have to order it as a side item, which costs $2.79. So, we had to refill our own drinks and bus our own table when we were done eating. Decided to give this new restaurant a try I was sadly disappointed. The food was overpriced ,it took a while to be waited on, my order was not correct when I pointed it out to an employee, which I had to yell across the restaurant to get her attention they took my cheeseburger which was missing the cheese back to the kitchen, they put a slice of cheese on it and brought it back out to me. Went to full moon today expecting a nice meal but to my surprise I had one of the worst dining experiences in my entire life. To start with the rude cashier being careless and blunt. Next I had to wait over 30 minutes for the sandwich that I ordered, it was inedible and disgusting. For 14 dollars I should be receiving much better quality food and service.
