My husband and I have been fans of Evan Funke since we moved to LA and first tried Felix, so we had to try Funke soon after hearing about its opening. I brought my husband here on a Tuesday night for his birthday and both of us loved it. The reservations open at 9 am on Resy one week prior to the date. I booked right on the dot and was able to get a 6 pm reservation for the next week. There is both street parking and valet available here. Compared to his other restaurants Felix and Mother Wolf, Funke is the chef's most beautiful and biggest restaurant. Funke is two levels and also has a chic rooftop bar at the top. Upon arriving, we were greeted by the doorman and seated immediately on the upper level. We were brought menus and waters immediately. After hearing that it was our first time, our waiter explained the menu to us and gave us some recommendations. We shared three appetizers between us, arancini, peach and burrata salad, and foccacia. The foccacia here was quite different to other ones I've had in the past. It seemed like a small savory cake that had herbs on the top and a layer of tomato sauce in the middle. My husband and I both highly enjoyed this and would recommend getting it. The arancini was also superb, with pieces of ham and gooey melted cheese throughout. If I had to skip one of the appetizers next time, it would be the peach and burrata salad. While it was fresh and delicious, it would be very easily recreated at home, as it contained slices of peach, a whole burrata ball, some olive oil, and basil. For mains, my husband had the agnolotti and I had the diavola pizza. I was in the mood for pizza that night and selected the diavola, which had a tomato sauce base, honey, and salami on it. It was good, but it is also offered at Felix and Mother Wolf, and I think when I come back next time, I would rather get one of their pastas that are unique to this location. My husband loved his agnolotti, as did I. It was the perfect blend of texture and taste. For dessert, we shared the meringetti. Our waiter explained that this was a blend of meringue and panna cotta with fresh strawberries and honey. This was a light and delicious end to our meal. I'm not a big fan of meringue but I did enjoy this dessert. Would highly recommend trying Funke for a special meal or a just-because night out. We are both looking forward to returning. read more

Look, so we've been wanting to go to evan funke's spot for a long time! The food lived up to the hype! Delicious, and the atmosphere was surreal! The staff is very inconsistent though. First of all there was a few waiters jumping in and out of service, Very kind and helpful. Cara is probably the best server I've ever experienced in my life. However there were a couple that really pulled us out of the experience. Didn't catch the name of the hostess, but she seemed a little annoyed. But hey, people have bad days. There was one server? Or busser? Couldn't tell really... but he was awfully rude, very pushy, made kind of uncomfortable comments that some of my party found funny, but I found them unnecessary. And towards the end we felt quite rushed by him. Taking plates they we were still eating, maybe towards the end of the night it's normal. I think he was attempting to woo my daughter, very persistent. However, we didn't let it affect our evening. He never introduced himself to us, but we asked a member of staff and she said his name is Chuck. Couldn't tell if it was his first day, but either way, it was fine, just odd. The squash blossoms, and the tortellini made up for it. Wish we were able to see chef more, but when we did he was impressive. The attention to detail was beautiful. Overall, Funke was a good experience and we will be back again. Hopefully service is more consistent across the board. The food is worth a Michelin star in my opinion, and affordable for the quality. Very Honest Review: Wanted to visit this place after watching the Netflix show and to my surprise it didn't meet the expectations. We made a reservation of 4 with a note saying need a high chair for my 19month old daughter. They misread that and caused a bit of delay which was okay. The ambience is beautiful and welcome. Staff were very cordial. We were seated in about 10-15mins of arriving. We ordered the fungi pizza, pesto hand rolled pasta and the rigatoni pasta. Pizza was great but both the pastas were chewy and undercooked to a level that it stuck in between teeth. Not expected out of the huge expectations created. Very average food. What added to my not so good experience was that there are no changing tables in the bathrooms. I expected the restaurant to be more accommodating with younger children. read more

Funke is the best elegant Italian dining in LA! My best friend since high school was in town with her daughters, so I wanted to take them to one of the best Italian restaurants that I've been hearing about for so long. Our 1st time experience was divine even from the start of our reservation, thanks to Jack for reserving us the best table on the rooftop. We were escorted to the gorgeous rooftop & welcomed by the kind hostess Alex. The ambiance around us felt truly breathtaking! Our lovely server Lisette was a sweetheart & she happily suggested amazing dishes + epic Italian wine that we ordered all because of her! We were blown away by the quality of the authentic hand-made food, phenomenal service & especially the lovely atmosphere. Massive Thanks to the Owner Evan Funky for creating a Masterpiece!! Our dining club finally snagged a rezzie at this eponymous hot spot from LA's #americansfoglino @evanfunke. There aren't enough stars to represent the quality and experience of this meal. It can be tempting to order dishes across the expansive menu, but the "fatta a mano" pasta is what really shines. Start with the pillowy foccacia and crispy squash blossoms--best sellers from Evan's LA restaurant empire. (Tell the wait staff to pace your courses as the hot or cold dishes tend to arrive all at once). Then move on to the pasta-pallooza! We ordered 4 of the 6 handmade pasta dishes. Each was a masterpiece in its own right, but the Tortelli--filled with winter squash, and bathed in a brown butter, sage, and cinnamon sauce--and the Busiate, pasta curls with pistachio pesto, were standouts. For dessert, the sugar-dusted donuts served with a cherry marmalade and pistachio crema dipping sauces was a divine flavor experience. But the real treat were the chewy marzipan cookies that finished the meal. Take a walk around the sparkly white multistory structure anchored by a glass-enclosed pasta room. If you're lucky, you might catch Evan in there rolling dough. Leftovers? That coat check ticket you may have received is for the the doggie bag, not your, that you'll pick up on the way out. DO NOT get the cacio e Pepe -- you're basically having a whole 2 tablespoons of salt ...- OR the orecchiette...... too spicy but yet tasteless to even enjoy. Food and service is the same at any of Funke'd LA restaurants. Go to the one whose vibe you would like better. If you don't get the homemade pasta don't bother going. It's always delicious and melts in your mouth. Squash blossoms and focccia bread are also my favorites. read more

Totally lives up to the hype! Probably the hardest reso to get in la right now and I can see why. I've dined at Evan Funkes other restaurants before and have loved them all but funke has to be my absolute favorite. Great food and amazing ambiance. The restaurant is super lively and has a great energy. The layout is also great. They have an amazing upstairs rooftop with a limited menu but is great to have drinks and light bites. The menu is very similar to mother wolf and Felix. You can't go wrong with any of the pastas. Make sure to try one from each side of the menu, one that is made by hand and the other traditional. My favorite is the cacio pepe. The squash blossoms are amazing and you can't go wrong with any of the pizzas. The focaccia is the best you'll ever have. Don't skip this. The salads have all been great, they switch them out seasonally, but you can't go wrong with any of the burratas. read more

I am a fan of the marble bar a perfect place to enjoy a martini. The decor and ambiance is worth paying $3 more than an ordinary bar. They also give you a box of matches. I hear good things about the food cannot wait to come back. read more

Earlier today I decided I wanted to try Funke, a recommendation I'd received from a fellow bar patron earlier in the week. I did not previously make a reservation, as most of the time, the restaurant is able to accommodate me just fine at the bar. Today I was told that I'd have to wait FOR that seat at the bar, at the rooftop bar. The pair of hosts at the restaurant entrance were very friendly when letting me know this and I obliged. I observed the overall restaurant decor and found it to be beautiful, including the rooftop. I got to the rooftop bar and kindly ask for a drink (the Sicilia) while I'm waiting. I was seated in the outdoor seating area and waited patiently for my time to come. I highly enjoyed the drink as it had just the right amount of liquor and sweetness to make it worth the $25. Finally, the rooftop hostess let me know they were ready for me. I went back to the first floor where the kind pair of hosts told me they were ready and the young lady walked me up to my seat at the second floor bar. I sat down and waited to be attended to. Once seated, a bartender named Mavis came up to me within 2-3 minutes and handed me the dinner and drink menus and offered me water while I looked over them. I ordered another Sicilia. Now while I love pasta to a certain degree, I couldn't make heads or tails of 90% of this menu, as it was all in Italian! I asked Mavis if he could help me figure out three dishes that spoke to me based on what I could understand. I also asked for details on the appetizers. Mavis couldn't be more gracious and kindly explained to me in detail all of these meals I'd pointed out without showing exasperation or annoyance. We settled on a dinner plate (Agnolotti) and an appetizer (Sfincione in blanco). The appetizer he said would complement the meal well. In the meantime, his fellow bartenders kept me refreshed with water in addition to my Sicilia. I overheard Mavis further explain some dishes in depth to the pair seated a few feet away from me and I felt better knowing I wasn't the only one asking for some translations. Later, I did thank him specifically for the patience he had to explain each meal I asked him too and he remarked that it was no problem as he likes to get to know the dishes being served and he's enjoyed being educated in them and their history by the cooks. I found this to be quite the gracious viewpoint from his part. Once the main course came to my table, he seemed somewhat irritated in the fact that the appetizer hadn't come first or alongside the dish. He asked the gentleman who took out the meal in hushed tones why the appetizer hadn't followed. The waiter remarked that he wasn't sure, he just saw the dinner plate ready to go out and brought it out. This answer clearly didn't satisfy Mavis, and as he was heading to find out what the issue was, the appetizer (bread) came out from another waiter. A look of relief quickly came over his face and he made another remark about how important it was for both to be out in a timely manner as they complemented each other. He came to me after the plates were set and reminded me such, not fully aware I had overheard this whole conversation through their hushed tones. I began my feast and quickly understood what Mavis meant. These tasted so well together! I enjoyed the meal thoroughly, but was curious as to why Mavis had disappeared on me. Another bartender had seemingly taken his place and was asking me everything Mavis should have. The other bartender let me know that Mavis was just covering his break. That I'd come at an interesting time where he was long overdue for a break and he'd needed someone to replace him. I was gracious for the answer. The experience had a been a good one to that point, despite Mavis' hasty exit. One of them did let him know I'd asked for him and Mavis returned briefly to apologize for the quick exit and let myself and the other pair from earlier know he was just covering. It didn't matter. The patience and attentiveness to my needs at the bar were so impressive, especially considering I'd just had a terrible experience at a different bar earlier in the week. I could tell Mavis really cared about what he was doing and you don't see that kind of service everywhere now-a-days. Kudos to Funke and their service staff as everyone from the bartenders (below the rooftop) to the pair of hosts at the restaurant door were very kind. The food was an added bonus, because sometimes these establishments can be overrated, but that certainly wasn't the care her. I will certainly return to this establishment again. read more

Unfortunately, this was not it for me. I know the reservation is hard to get, but that's mainly because of the system they have in place...7 days before at 9am blah blah blah. I enjoyed my meal at Felix much more. I feel like the menu at Funke is an exact replica of Felix. My BFF snagged a reservation and treated me to my bday dinner. The menu isn't on the website which is annoying. It's three stories yes, but the first floor is half the floor, the second floor is open aired to the bottom and half the floor, and then the rooftop deck. We sat upstairs on the second floor. They were pumping hip hop music so loud I could barely hear my companion. I'm not sure this is the crowd for blaringly loud hip hop. Keep it to the rooftop. The food was unimpressive. We started with the Sfincione Palermitano bread, which was good, but reminded me of a very light fluffy pizza (and we had also ordered a pizza). Next up were the squash blossoms, which were super salty and I couldn't finish. The Amalfitana pizza needed more mozzarella and 10x's more meyer lemon. There was barely the essence of lemon. I love a good thin crust, but this was like a pizza was prepared on a tortilla. Finally, we rounded out the meal with the ziti alla genovese. We were full at this point, so we merely sampled the pasta. Nothing to write home about. What really threw me for a loop was that there was nearly 3/4's of our pasta left, and our waiter took it and threw it away! A $38 dollar pasta and most of it went in the trash. I'm sorry sir, this is America, we box up our leftovers. He didn't even ask and I guess it's my fault for assuming he wouldn't throw out that much pasta, especially when I noticed they were doing bags and bags of takeout, so they clearly have the ability to pack up food. We passed on dessert, but my friend had clearly pointed out to them it was my bday, and other than well wishes, nada. Don't expect a bday celebration from them. Bonus: fun rooftop that wasn't too crowded at 9pm on a Friday night. Bogus: mid food, they threw my food away, and everyone was weirdly touching me all night and calling me cutie (wtf?). This is my favorite of the 3 Funke restaurants in LA. It's in a nice space, with an upstairs and downstairs that have different vibes. The staff are a little intense but I expect that at a place like this. The music upstairs is too loud; the staff have to yell to talk to you and it's impossible to have an intimate conversation or moment which is too bad. The food was delicious and I enjoyed trying 3 different pastas which came out fresh and piping hot! The focaccia bread is very special and I'm glad I don't have to drive to Venice to get it. The valet is in a very sketch alley next to the restaurant which is also unfortunate but a minor inconvenience. Definitely a good option to have. read more

Came here a month or so ago and had their Boscaiola Pizza. It was a delicious very thin crust and tasty "light bite" mushroom pizza. It was also $42. + tax and tip = $54. just for one "lite bite" pizza! My friend who took me thought it was good, but overpriced and wouldn't consider returning. I understand and had to agree, but it haunted me how delicious it was.... So, a few weeks later I had to go back for another mushroom pizza. It was impossible to get reservations, but they suggest coming and putting your name in and they'll try and get you in. So did that...after over an hour of waiting and still being third party in line on the waitlist, we were too hungry to continue to wait any longer. The hostess suggested coming earlier, closer to 5pm when they open. Kept thinking about that thin little mushroom pizza...was it that good? Or was I just really hungry that evening? So, tried again. I live nearby, left my house at about 5pm drove there and parked.... We were told there were 8 couples ahead of us on the list!! They suggested we go to the bar upstairs. I told them I came for mushroom pizza. They said, "We have the same pizzas upstairs at the bar." Feeling elated we went up to the bar. Up at the bar it was half empty so no trouble getting seated. They gave us three menus to look at. None of them included pizza! I asked and was told they have 3 pizzas available there at the bar: margherita, lemon and pepperoni. I told them That I came for their mushroom pizza. They said they were sorry, but it's not available at the bar. Feeling disappointed we ordered the margerhita pizza. It came fast. The crust tasted like a salty flexible chewy saltine cracker. The sauce tasted of fresh tomatoes, but quite salty. I particularly like that they don't use a boring bland tasting stretchy mozzarella on their pizza, but the salty flavor of the cheese was just too much salt on top of the salty crust and sauce! Feeling defeated and disappointed we headed out, now about 7pm. Downstairs at the front desk I thought they should know so that they didn't mislead others... "They don't have mushroom pizza up at the bar." Their reply was, "No, they only have 4 pizzas available at the bar, but it's the same pizza." At this point I was feeling too defeated to argue 3 or 4, who cares. But then to pour more salt on my wounds they said, "I'm sorry you were disappointed, but we have a table available and could seat you in the dining room now." Excuse me, but we just finished eating at the bar.... A week later I stopped by Funke to give it one more chance. Again they were full in the dining room and so we were sent upstairs to the bar, but assuring us that this time they had mushroom pizza available there. And, they did! But again the chewy salty saltine crust, salty topping and salty cheese... just too salty! Definitely not the pizza I have been dreaming about! read more

Took my best friend here to celebrate her birthday and we've both been to Motherwolf so we were excited. To start, the decor is just GORGEOUS, I loved watching them make the pasta and the bar downstairs is a total vibe. We were seated upstairs and ordered- Sfincione Palermitano- This was good! savory, buttery, and crispy Amalfitana pizza- I was curious about the meyer lemon and it was nice to try, but I wouldn't get this again Busiate pasta- our favorite, the sauce was delicious We wrapped up with the torta- a must if you love chocolate Service was great, our som was also wonderful, we checked out the rooftop bar after which is a sight in itself. Overall I liked it, but I prefer the food at Motherwolf as Funke didn't "wow" me as much as MF and can be pricy. I would 100% return to the rooftop bar though! read more

This had to have been one of the best dinning experiences. The ambience was great. The music was a vibe that caused at least one of the wait staff to sing. We started out with drinks. The food was delicious full of flavor. We had the truffle pasta, a pasta with bolognese, Branzino, squash blossoms and for dessert the panna cotta which was delicious. Matthew, our waiter, along with the team were all very attentive and personable. Matthew also gave me a hand written note wishing me Happy Birthday and thanking us for being such gracious diners. They also served a little chocolate cake with a candle, which was a nice touch. Alex one of the managers stopped our table. In addition to how delicious everything was, we had to acknowledge how impressed we were with the entire staff and the level of camaraderie. The one drawback would be the valet service located in the alley not near the front door. Overall love this place and definitely would return!!! read more

Date night with hubby was a success. The food was delicious. The service was great. -1 star because MY GOOOOOOOOD ITS SO LOUD. I could not hear a word my husband was saying and could barely understand the waiter. Squash blossoms: tasty but nothing to write home about. Not super memorable. Crispy and stuffed well but a hair underseasoned. La Panzanella: I'm going to dream about this salad. Fresh, refreshing, gooey burrata, an absolute dream. Almost ordered a second! Orichette: I'm a sucker for 'nduja. This was delicious. Pesce Spada: Swordfish steak was cooked to perfection. Sauce was delicious. Not much to not love here. Sorbetti: the peach was peak summer freshness. I could bathe in this. Complementary peanut butter cookies: these were a one bite delight that I could have a whole box of! I honestly don't have the words to explain my fine dining experience last night. But grateful comes to mind. We didn't think the chef would be there,but as we turned our gaze to the kitchen,there he was working hard as though he wasn't a wizard. Dish after dish,more beautiful than the next... we were in Awe. We left with not only full bellies,but with full hearts because the staff with their extensive knowledge of food and wine treated us like royalty. After trying to score a table pretty much since they first opened, I finally snagged a spot on Friday night. Overall, we had an awesome experience even if the food didn't meet my wildly high expectations (and we definitely liked the food at Mother Wolf more). Our server was Carmine and he was an absolute delight! Honestly, he pretty much made the night. Service can make or break even the best meal and he was exceptional - friendly, engaged, informative and super funny! We got the focaccia that everyone raves about and it was definitely one of our favorites of the night. I've been dying to try the artichoke hearts but they weren't on the menu (just like when we had gone to Mother Wolf before- bad timing!). But after I mentioned my disappointment, Carmine said the kitchen could whip them up for me and even add some caviar on top. Caviar is always a good idea (truer words have never been spoken), but the artichoke hearts themselves were just ok. There were a bunch of specials and we took advantage of those. Next we had the special crab cake and it was fantastic! It was our favorite dish of the night and one of the best crab cakes we've ever had (and my husband is very very particular about crab cakes!). It was hardly any filler, the outside was crispy, the sauce was delicious and the vibrant greens on top rounded out the dish beautifully. Next up was the lemon pizza. My husband had been skeptical about ordering pizza but we both loved it and thought it was delicious. It had everything you could ask of a pizza! It tasted great the next night too. Then came the pastas. We got the pesto one that everyone on Yelp seems to love and we were both super underwhelmed. It wasn't bad, but it tasted like every other pesto pasta anywhere. We left most of it and our kid had it for dinner the next night. Our second pasta was the special mushroom with truffle pasta. It was very yummy (and of course with the truffle you know it's going to cost bank), but cost aside I still think I would have preferred it without the truffle. Last up was the tangerine dessert. I liked it a lot more than my husband did. We walked around afterwards and checked out all the levels. We had been sat on the first floor and we agreed that it was our favorite. The scene is very much a "scene", which is what you would expect in this part of town. And complaining about price I think is silly. It's a hugely popular chef with a restaurant in Beverly Hills. Of course it's going to be expensive and over priced but that's part of the package. If you accept that going in then it won't sting as much lol. We split a glass of wine and the pour was incredibly generous. Bill was about $500 but we had a fantastic night! read more

Funke was incredible just like Felix and Motherwolf. What made this experience extra amazing was the fact that I got caught for 30 MINUTES behind one of those police waves where they stop everyone on the freeway. I was trapped at a standstill for 30 minutes so I called and was like "I'm trapped on the 405!!!" and they moved my reservation from 5:30 to 6:15 no problem. That and the meringata dessert is hands down one of the best desserts I've had in my life. Top 3 for sure in my life. And Chef was there running the show which was fun to see. I feel a bit conflicted writing this review, because after my first visit here, I was hoping that this would become one of my favorite restaurants in Beverly Hills, but the inconsistency in service is a huge letdown. Food/5 Service/ can range from 1-5 Ambiance/5 I've been here a handful of times, and I've tested it out all dining floors. I appreciate that each level has completely different vibes. The 1st floor is light and airy there are hundreds of glass blown lights sprinkling from the ceiling, artwork mounted on the wall and hip-hop is blasting through the speakers. The 2nd floor is dark and more intimate, the bar is more casual with the full menu. The roof serves light bites and has a full-service bar, it has the vibe of a grown-up version of E.P. & L.P. In Weho. On my last visit, after checking in with the hostess, she informed us we had our table until 8:30. After we were seated upstairs (10 mins before 7), our food came really quickly this time, I would say the first 2 courses came within 5 minutes of each other. Before we were even able to work half way through them, we were told that the dishes we were working on had to be consolidated into 1 plate so that our pizza would fit the table. I immediately asked a staff member if the pasta can come later, because we literally had no room on the table, and I did not want another course being smashed together. As we finished our last dishes, I asked the server about dessert and he replied with, "let me ask my manager if it's OK if you get moved upstairs to the roof to have them." I immediately looked at my clock and saw that it was 8:05- and I told him that the hostess, so we can sit at the table until 8:30. If I had mistaken our time slot at all, he could've very well said that- but he didn't seem to have a rebuttal. I saw my party and I felt very uncomfortable sitting there and eating afterwards so I told him we would actually love to continue the rest of our night upstairs if that was more convenient. He then came back and said that the manager said that wasn't a possibility (so why was it suggested?), and that if we wanted to, we can still have dessert with him. I politely just asked for our check and skipped dessert. I've never felt more uncomfortable and or unwelcomed at any establishment. I've continuously raved to my friends about how much I loved this restaurant, came with a handful of them, and I felt really embarrassed that my friend's 1st experience was like this. We quickly rushed upstairs and enjoyed the rest of our night unbothered on the rooftop. Less than 2 weeks ago, I sat downstairs, and each course took about 20-30 minutes to come out, at some point, I had to ask the runner if we were getting another course, and he responded with, the Italians like to course things out. That reservation was at 7:45 and we left at 10:45 PM. Now, I didn't need that many hours, but I feel like it should be somewhere in between under 3 hours, and not getting kicked out of your reservation after an hour of sitting down. The food is excellent, but just know that when it comes to service, it's a bit like playing Russian roulette. I'm not sure if because they've only been opened for 5 months and they're ironing out the operations? I hope that's the case. read more

We were able to walk in and put our names down in the list. They offered the rooftop bar while we waited. The wait was a smidge over an hour and we were seated at the short bar at the end overlooking the stretch of the bar area. Everyone was nice and knowledgeable. The pastas were amazing. They met all expectations. The orange wine was delicious. And the dessert cannolis were heaven. 10/10 will be back to order all the other pastas. read more

This place is the new it and I had to check it out . It did not disappoint . The staff is lovely, from the doorman to the bartender . The squash blossoms I die so yummy !!! I love a good squash blossom and this stuffed one was top tier. Known for the pasta it was cool to know from upstairs you can watch them prepare it ! The outside rooftop is lovely ! WOW. I'm gonna be honest, I'm not a big fan of mother wolf and thinks it's extremely overrated, so I went into this with lower expectations. But MAN was I impressed! The ambiance in there is awesome, each floor is its own unique vibe. First floor is open and social, the second is more intimate and dimly lit, and then there's the rooftop. Truly no complaints on the layout or aesthetic of the restaurant. Service was exceptional. Our waitress was extremely helpful and put together a menu that gave us a variety of everything, which allowed me to sample a lot from the menu. The food was phenomenal. WAY better than Mother Wolf. Im curious if this was because Chef Funke was there at this location looking over everything, or if that is just how this place always will be. Im assuming it's the former. You should try this place asap, because I fear it will see the same fate as Mother Wolf and go downhill as time passes. read more

It took a lot of effort to get a reservation. This restaurant is so over rated. First of all it's very simple and not what I expected. It was not a happening scene, older crowd nothing like Mother wolf. Even though the food was good but not worth the price. We had a preset menu and had to pay for 20% gratuity in advance and I think that is why we didn't get the service we should have. Even though our server was super friendly but service was awful. The dishes were left on the table by food runners with no serving spoons. The Branzino was just dropped off not deboned We had to constantly flag down people to help even though there were a lot of people working. This was my first and last time! read more

The food was just as delicious as expected. I was lucky to grab a reservation by checking 1 week before right when they opened. We came on a Thursday night right at our reservation time and waited about 15 mins to get seated. We sat in the mezzanine area upstairs, the tables are very close together and it is loud and bustling but that is part of the experience! Our server was amazing and gave very detailed recommendations. We had questions about the wine list so the sommelier gave us a suggestion and we were not disappointed. The pizza with lemon was so refreshing and a must try. The pastas were good, we tried the special that day but it wasn't as tasty as the others. They brought out a candle with our dessert and complimentary glasses of champagne as we were celebrating an engagement. I want to come back to check out the bar on the rooftop! read more

Really awesome service, helpful and assist with you on how to order and compliment the meal. Had the burrata e pesche, had nectarines. That was delicious. The busiate was a pesto handmade pasta and that was amazing. The Meringata dessert was delicious whatever that strawberry slushie feel was refreshing!!! Food was excellent. 3-4 stars The Sfincione was excellent, but again the size of my palm. Small tables and very small portion sizes make it a great marketing gimmick, or you can call it shrink shrink shrinkflation. I give the service I received a 1.5 stars. It's funny that my waiter came to my table maybe 3 times in the 2 hours I was there. The table next to us was totally the opposite. They got the 5star treatment, maybe because they were in there 60's or they were drinking, but I felt like a stepchild. The wine bottles and classes got changed 3 times that I noticed. Wow! Truly, hard to put this experience into words. Bruce Lee was the most attentive server I have EVER had in Los Angeles and or on the west coast period. Homemade pastas cooked perfectly, all starters we had were ones to write home about. The focaccia starter on the fancy lazy Susan was simple yet decadent... don't skip this step. Made mention to our server that we wanted to take a peek upstairs at the rooftop bar and he closed us out and personally escorted us upstairs and got us a table in a snap of a finger. So accommodating, and so unexpected. We had the most memorable time. Thank you chef for such an incredible atmosphere + meal. We will be back time and time again. Xo read more

Evan Funke's newest restaurant may be my favorite. The menu offers a lot of his standby dishes as well as some new soon-to-be favorites. I loved the fried artichokes, pastas, seafood and desserts. The service was phenomenal. Our servers were attentive and kind. We received glasses of complimentary champagne for our anniversary. They were very sweet to our 7 year old son. The manager needs to go. I had legitimate issues with the meal, but instead of trying to help, she tried putting on this fake nice person demeanor while basically telling me to fuck off. At any normal restaurant I would never bring up issues to the wait staff, but at a restaurant like this, a badly prepared small plate of pasta that I just can't let it go. It's obvious the GM didn't care at all about my issue, but just wanted to give me lip service hoping I'd shut up and just eat it. Her arguments to my issue made no sense, it was like talking to someone that has a doctorate in killing you with kindness. On top of that, Funke weirdly makes patrons pay for the staff's salary, explicitly mentioning that this surcharge should be in addition to the tip. I get it during covid, but this restaurant opened a month ago . Was my $45 plate of pasta not enough revenue to take care of your employees? Anyway, I love Mother Wolf and Felix but this is where I believe the restauranteur's new namesake spot is officially where he spread himself too thin. The pastas were decent, sizes were small to be expected, but honestly what knocked this down from 4 stars to 2, besides the strangely slow service despite the fact that the restaurant was quite empty while we were there, was the shock of our bill. The most expensive pasta on the menu was $50, and the most expensive thing on the menu was a steak for maybe $80-90. So when our server mentioned an off the menu pasta, truffle gnocchi in white butter and filled with cheese, we ordered it, thinking it would be around $50. Instead, it was double the most expensive thing on the menu: $160. Yes, we should've asked beforehand, but I thought it would be in the range of reasonable: maybe $50-100 considering the prices of everything else on the menu. I told our server I thought it was deceptive that she didn't list the price up front. She said she doesn't because customers might be offended that she's telling them the price (it's really not that difficult to mention the price when explaining the dish); she also had a whole spiel prepared about where they source their truffles and from whom (they have a "special truffle guy from Italy" apparently). It's not her fault--it's the establishment's, for clearly training their staff to deceive and upsell customers. Overall this was very disappointing to see that Funke and his businesses prioritize profit over transparency. read more

I actually thought I'd like the pasta here because I love mother wolf's pasta. But i'd say pass on the pasta and get the steak. While pricey, the steak was the best dish. For the price of the pasta, sooo not worth. I think I can make better pasta at home on my own and I'm no chef. read more
