Amazing pasta in a hip setting. You can watch them making your pasta in a glass case in the center of the restaurant. We tried almost everything on the menu and it was delicious. The drinks were strong and the waiter was amazing. We really enjoyed our dinner. Happy Yelping!

Made a resy for Friday at 7:30 PM and honestly it was way easier than I expected. No wait at all. I thought it was going to be hard to get in because of how much people talk about this place, but it seems like the hype has died down a bit. One thing I didn't realize before going is that there are multiple levels. We got seated on the first floor, but the second floor has the bar and the third floor is rooftop and I feel like the experience would've been a lot better up there. So if you go, I'd definitely try to request that in advance. We started with the focaccia, which our waiter said is a 10-year recipe and basically the star of the restaurant. It was super soft, pillowy, and when you cut into it there's garlic baked inside. Simple but done really well. Definitely one of the highlights. Squash blossoms were interesting... first time trying something like this. It's basically zucchini flowers stuffed with a soft cheese (ricotta or a light cream cheese mixture with herbs), then battered and fried. I liked the idea of it, but execution-wise it was a little too greasy and very salty for me. After a couple bites it got heavy fast and I had to wash it down with a lot of water. Diavola pizza was solid. Not mind-blowing, but good. The salami had a nice kick and the crust had that char and chew you want from a wood-fired pizza. I enjoyed it, buttttt I just didn't feel like it stood out compared to other reeeallyyy pizzas in LA. The lamb pappardelle is where you can tell the chef knows what he's doing!! This dish was a slow-braised lamb ragu with pappardelle noodles, and parmesan. The pasta itself was cooked really well, perfect texture, and the lamb didn't taste gamey at all which I appreciated. At the end, when they gave the receipt, they also brought out these little treats... a small oatmeal bar and chocolate truffle balls, plus a Funke postcard. That was honestly really cute and thoughtful. Everything was good.... nothing was bad. But for the price point, I wasn't wowed or amazed. It didn't feel like a place I'm dying to come back to. I think if you go in knowing that it's solid but not life-changing, you'll enjoy it more. For me personally, I wouldn't come back... but I'm still glad I tried it once.

Came here on a reservation around 9pm! This place is very popular so highly recommend having a reservation The ambiance was busy, loud, and dimly light for dinner. The servers were very attentive always making sure we had water or purchased drinks in a timely manner. The food was absolutely amazing! Highly recommend the hand rolled noodles if this is your first time as that is the part of the experience! Our server was knowledgeable in all the dishes and pastas! She was able to help us decide which dish to choose and definitely had leftovers to each later! Overall great experience. Perfect for small- medium sized parties to fit comfortably

Came to Funke, one of several spots from chef Evan Funke, and honestly left a little underwhelmed. I'll give it three stars for now. It is a hot reservation, especially for a Friday or Saturday night. The place definitely draws a crowd. The space is trendy, but I just didn't love the vibe. It felt a bit off the night we went, maybe just an off night, but it didn't have the same energy or charm I've experienced at Felix Trattoria. Food is solid, but I didn't think it was as good as Felix. We ordered a good mix including the Spaghetti all'Arrabbiata, the famous Sfincione Bianco, a margherita pizza, and the rucola salad. Everything was good, but nothing really stood out the way it does at Felix. Even though some of the menu overlaps, the kitchen here is different and it shows. The drinks are great, consistent with his other locations. Service was also not even close to Felix, but still better than Mother Wolf, which added to the overall experience feeling a bit inconsistent. I also wasn't sure about the seating. We were upstairs, and I don't know if downstairs might be a better experience. Location: Beverly Hills, toward the end of the strip, which makes it feel a little tucked away. Kind of a funny location since there's a gas station right across the street, but the restaurant itself is a really nice space inside. Parking wasn't too bad, we parked in a structure across the street which made things easy. Overall, it's still worth trying given the hype, and I'll go again for sure. Maybe I just caught them on an off night. Cool fact: celebrities like Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, Beyonce and JayZ,Meghan Markle, Kim Kardashian, Sofía Vergara, Bella Hadid, and Justin Bieber have been spotted here.

Beverly Hills pasta spot from Chef Evan Funke. Came here with my dad and we made a reservation online in advance, as we had to catch a show at the Annenberg Theater. We split a Dama Bianca salad to start followed by a Diavola pizza and rigatoni all'amaritriciana. The pasta/pizza dishes we picked were heavy and filling, so having a salad to have a light start was a good idea. My favorite was the pizza as it was spicy and the crust texture was just right. We ended with a passionfruit sorbet for dessert, which was very large and good to split. They gave us complimentary cookies and chocolates at the end as well which was nice. The ambiance was upscale but it's still family friendly, as there were small kids there. Parking available around via the Beverly Hills pubic garages.

I did not take a picture of everything we got but the food was AMAZING! The chef studied in Italy and the food tasted just like we were in Italy. The atmosphere was great, loved the decor and the servers were all extremely kind and attentive. HIGHLY recommend the mortazza and the fior di zucca. Will absolutely be going back again !

Made a reservation for dinner and tried: + Fior di zucca + Tortelli Butternut squash special + Persimmon and burrata special + Tagliatelle + Passionfruit sorbet The butternut squash tortelli was amazing. Also loved the zucchini blossoms and persimmon special. Unfortunately the tagliatelle was a huge letdown... like kind of dry? The server went on and on about how it's one of their signatures. Could not believe it was $50 lmao. Sorbet was decent, nothing too memorable. Overall a great meal, but too expensive for what it is and ultimately I would rather go to Antico Nuovo. 4.5 stars.

Damn good stuff! The service alone is worth the admission. We were walk-ins, just pulled in from San Francisco and went directly to their door. On the spot accommodations : our options were to stay now or hit the road as they were fully booked for the evening. We stayed. And happy we did. From the moment we met the terrific hostess, we knew we had the right spot. A super busy Thursday early eve with 2 private parties happening, one of them on the rooftop area which would've been a nice place to visit. We started with the fried squash blossoms which were stoopid good! Next, a killer "amalfitana pizza" with meyer lemon and basil. A pasta dish entree: "spaghettone alla norma" with eggplant followed up with the swordfish: "pesce spade alla ghioatta". The pasta was a bit salty and for some reason the fish came out way late, maybe 40 minutes later than it should've and it wasn't really spectacular. However, the ambience, the setting, and the top-notch phenomenal service is worth the experience. A bit pricey, but after all, you're dining in Beverly Hills. We were too full to take advantage of the dessert menu, but our kind excellent waiter brought us some treats, a very nice pleasing gesture. Parking is pretty cool, valet parking right next-door only $15 plus tip. We certainly will be back, thank you nice people!

The ambience here was very nice. I went on a Thursday afternoon and it was pretty busy. We were a party of three. For starters, we had the sfincione palermitano and fiori di zucca-- both of these were very good. For pastas, we ordered the tagliatelle bologna, cacio e Pepe, pesto pasta. We only enjoyed the bolognese pasta. The others had so much salt. I don't recall having so much salt on my pasta in LA, and have also traveled extensively throughout Italy. The pastas could have used way less salt. All three of us commented on how salty the pesto and cacio e Pepe pastas were and couldn't finish them. My coworkers also had the 16oz steak and said they enjoyed it. For dessert, we had the tiramisu and the meringata. The tiramisu was very good, but I thought the meringata was just ok. As for drinks, I ordered the Sicilia and a spritz and both tasted good. The pour on the spritz just wasn't very generous relative to other restaurants in the area.

Rooftop ambiance is great, music was better this time. It's open and public but also secluded and private. Service very attentive. Mocktails - too sweet with the passion fruit and tiny for the price. The almond pasta was the star of the show, not pictured below. Proteins are very expensive so be prepared. We had 2 pizzas and the zucchini flowers. For a meal of mild to moderate hunger you'll at least be spending $100 per couple and questionably not worth it, but the ambiance is special.

Went for a birthday dinner tonight and it was so delicious. Even better than when it first opened, hence the 5 stars. The waiter was a little pushy on trying to get us to order more but we were more than stuffed with everything we got. To start we got the squash blossoms and arugula salad. Then moved on to the Amalfitana Pizza, busiate pistachio pesto pasta, arrabbiata pasta, and branzino which came with an amazing fennel/artichoke salad and herb sauce for the fish. Everything was beyond delicious and I would definitely order again. To end we had the apple tart which was perfect. Will definitely be back soon and will definitely grab a drink on the rooftop prior to dinner next time.

The vibe is romantic and fun. Beautifully done inside and the rooftop as well. The food was great. Evan Funke definitely knows his pasta. Every thing we ordered were delicious. The only thing on the menu that our waiter failed to inform is the tagliatelle Raghu has no tomato sauce - it was with ground meat without any kind of sauce. It was ok - not the best. Honestly I haven't yelped in SO long cuz I'm not that guy pal. But I AM a major foodie and have given this place 2 tries. I rate it honestly a 6/10 1 being 7/11 food and 10 being bestia. The bread is delicious.... The salad was simple so I can't complain but nothing to rave about whatsoever. The pastas were mediocre at best except the bolognese and the ragu. The ragu was heavy and unbalanced... for 39$ I thought I could take it home but NOPE they cleverly clear the plates without even asking if you want a to go box. Safe to say I will NEVER be back- but you should definitely not give it a shot. Bone apple teeth. Xx. read more

What a delight! I am not sure which was the best? The Food? The Ambience? The Staff? They were all outstanding! This was a last minute selection and we were fortunate enough to get a reservation and based on the Yelp reviews it looked like a winner - and it did not disappoint. From the time we opened the front door until the time we left we were showered with hospitality and warmth. I was amazed at the level of attention provided by all the staff, and it was pretty busy. The food was simply amazing - handcrafted pasta and deserts that just simply cannot be adequately described - must be tasted! We will be heading back soon and I will take better notes! read more

Currently a hot and trendy place to go out to. Let me start off my saying the place is beautiful and the roof top is gorgeous. Great places to take photos, there are 3 levels. Our waitress was great and good but the service was slow the night we went, Thursday. So let's get to food. Ordered a skinny, spicy margarita was great. We shared everything and had the focaccia and burrata salad which was so delicious. We ordered the caccio de Pepe and a red pasta and they were a bit disappointing, not hi g amazing and small portion. But the chocolate hazelnut dessert was amazing. A must. The manager did cover our dessert and some drinks due to the slow service. So maybe next time it'll be better. read more

Well it's been a long and winding path for Chef Funke and he's landed at the top of a gilded throne, right here in Beverly Hills. First off the reservation process isn't that difficult. You just be ready to go exactly at 9 am a week prior. But be prepared as even right at 9 am your options will likely be 6 pm or earlier or 9 pm or later. We got a 5:45 and that worked out for us. We started off with a bottle of the Fiano, my new favorite grape. Along with that, the shaved fennel and shaved artichoke salad which was light, crunchy & super tasty (but could have used a few more artichokes). Next up the fancy sfincione with tomato anchovy and cheese (since we've had (and loved) the basic one from Felix (I was there opening night and far too many times to count over the first few years). Also delicious- almost like a very fancy pizza bread - and not soggy as some have previously reported. For the pastas we shared the linguine alla vongole and the lemon spaghetti. Both were delicious. We finished off with the cannoli for my friend, the birthday girl. Our sever Matthew was wonderful and attentive, as was all the staff. The reasons I can't/won't give this review 5 stars are twofold: 1) we were seated on the 2nd floor at 6 pm and by 6:30 we could barely hear ourselves at a tiny two top; and 2) the prices are ridiculous. Most pastas are in the $38-50 range. I stopped going to Felix because they started charging too much for their pastas... I'll definitely go have a drink and a snack on the gorgeous rooftop (that bar!) but we have a lot of fabulous Italian in Los Angeles at far lower price points so this one will remain for very special occasions only, if that. I worry that with three restaurants now, how much attention can be paid across the board? Fingers crossed for the best! read more

Good, trendy Italian from the Mother Wolf folks (a place I frequent often). A lot of similar MW items (the squash blossoms and pizzas). A different varietal of specialty cocktails - I had the gin martini which was nice and crisp. The focaccia appetizer with marina was one of the best-things (very soft bread). Arancini was good, not amazing. Had a duck ragu pasta which was a special - very good. Definitely worth trying but I do prefer the vibe of Mother Wolf more when comparing the two. Sad to see the fall of Evan Funke. Long ago, an up-and-coming young chef of a small restaurant in Culver City (long before Felix in Venice, sorry, I forgot its name) w amazing pastas has sold his foodie soul to the "all I care about is money" devil. Pastas, his forte, were tasteless and not eatable. Mr. Funke will soon find out that when opening huge, dinner-like places, as Mother Wolf and Funke, serving mediocre food, will actually make the money run away from you. read more

Came last night to check out their rooftop bar which is available for walk-ins only as their main restaurant is tough to grab a res for. We arrived shortly after they opened at around 5:15pm and had no issue getting seated. The wait staff were incredible and friendly and made great suggestions from the menu. The entire staff was attentive and continued to check in on us throughout our visit. Drinks were excellent and they have a full bar as well. As for food, they offer small bites which differs from their main restaurant menu. They do also offer 3 pizzas from the restaurant. We had the tuna tartare which was so fresh and delicious and melted in your mouth. We also had the arancini which was flavorful and not overly salty as well as their spicy salumi pizza. For dessert we finished off with their hazelnut cake which was served with the most incredible vanilla gelato. I was extremely impressed with the food and service which to me is worth the price. Rooftop was very cute and comfortable. Valet is available as well as nearby parking garages which offer first 2 hours free. Look forward to trying out the main restaurant. read more

I was excited about having a new restaurant in Beverly Hills. The place is absolutely gorgeous. We sat inside the dining room on the first floor, good seats, nice ambiance even the wait staff was very friendly and helpful in our order for Dinner. We had the artichoke salad and two of their main pasta dishes. I cannot say I will be back for the food but the rooftop I will definitely be back for especially for the summer and drinks. read more

Went to this place 5-1-2025. Pretty pricy for a tiny portion but I guess that's what you get when you eat in Beverly Hills. Nice guy, great staff, tasty food. It was a good experience. Took bff there for going away dinner. 6 people total. Food - Amazing!!! We got a bit of everything. Highly recommend the Ziti and the steak. Mouthwatering is an understatement. There's a pizza with a hint of lemon that I would go back just to have again. Drinks - everyone got a different cocktail which they raved about. I had the martini and it was one of the best gin martinis I've ever had. Service - the level of attention was insane. Our waiter (tall guy with glasses, whose name I can't recall) made us feel welcome. he broke down the menu and made sure we were well taken cared of. Table was always cleared after a course. And water glasses kept filled. It was raining so we couldn't go out to the rooftop but my friends and I are already planning to go during the summer read more

Completing the Evan Funke trilogy, I have to say my favorite spot of his is motherwolf, however Funke is just as good! The menus are the same I don't think anything was different from his other restaurants, only the ambiance. I really enjoy all the dishes here except for the pasta pictured which I forgot the name of but was extremely underwhelming, and flavorless. Everything else here is so good! read more

I was a little bit worried after seeing all of the mediocre reviews. Fortunately, I thought the food was fantastic. We were a party of 8 and ordered almost all the pasta dishes, steak and lamb chops. Amazing food. I give the restaurant only 4 stars due to the excessive noise and club music that started playing at 8pm. I will never understand fine dining restaurants that are so loud that it is hard to maintain conversation. Will I go back? Definitely yes but on the early side to avoid the noise. read more

Located in the heart of Beverly Hills is a gorgeous new restauarant. The space is absolutely beautiful, with three floors. The first floor contains the main dining room, a pristine pasta lab where you can watch pasta made by hand, and a beautiful open kitchen. Chef Funke is there himself overseeing each dish that comes out. The second floor is more high energy, with another dining room and a full bar where you can also enjoy the full menu. The rooftop patio is where to be for drinks, small bites menu, and dessert. Even if you don't have a reservation, this is where you can enjoy the sunset and a glass of Krug. We then sat on the mezzanine level (the second floor) in a lovely booth. Our server guided us through the sections of the menu, highlighting a few favorites. When it came to selecting a wine, we were a bit intimidated by the exlcusively Italian list- and then we met the most friendly, approachable sommelier in Beverly Hills. Jenna asked and listened to what we normally like to drink, and recommended a Brunello Di Montalcino. She charmed us with it's family history: the winemaker learning from his father, and now making the wine with his two sons. She painted a picture of the vineyard and the land while she poured the wine. When we tasted it, we knew it was really something special. Perfect recommendation. Favorite dishes of the night were the crispy squash blossoms, Trofie pasta with fresh pesto, Boscaiola pizza (with wild mushrooms) and the meringata dessert. The "Meringata" was a revelation. Layers of vanilla bean panna cotta, tangerine shaved ice, candied fennel, and pillowy merengue. Our server and somm stayed on top of service the whole night, never allowing an empty water glass or wine glass. The service was attentive and professional, and never felt rushed. Our check came with truffles and cookies to send us off with something sweet! Overall we had an amazing experience. We will definitely be back for more food, wine, and stellar espresso. read more

We arrived for an early dinner and chose to sit downstairs so we could talk- glad we did because the 2nd floor gets very lively! But looks like a fun place to eat too. The food was outstanding- we had a salad, app, 3 pasta dishes and 1 pizza to share among 4 people. Just perfect- and we all agreed, some of the best pasta we've ever had. We had a lovely evening at Funke (pronounced funky). We went to the rooftop bar first for drinks as we were early for our reservation. They have a dj that plays house music. The drinks were good. Service was great. Dinner was so delicious! I would highly recommend the Branzino, the clams and linguine, and focaccia bread. The Cesar salad was a bit too bitter for me as they use radicchio. And the dessert donuts are a win! The only tip I would give the staff is take some more time to remove the plates from the table --- the food is to tasty, we're not ready for you to take our plates away. read more

I saw this place of Netflix's Chefs Table & it looked awesome. Went on Thursday & sat at the dinner bar. The audience is amazing and the service is perfect. I tried 2 different cocktails once before my appetizer and one after dinner. Against my better judgment I started with the eggplant instead of the squash blossoms. It was OK. Then I had the orecchiette as my entrée. It was a bit spicy for my taste, but was what was really good. Finished the night off at the rooftop bar. I would say that's the highlight of Funke. I will definitely come back just for the bar upstairs. read more

DO NOT listen to the haters here. Honestly, this is my new FAVORITE restaurant in LA. Incredible service from the host, Micah to our wait staff, Tatum and many others. Everyone was so so nice, very accommodating & and took incredible care of us, the service was insane. THE FOOD. I am telling you I couldn't love it more!! We got the Squash Blossoms, Tuna Carpaccio, Agnolotti, Rigatoni, Strangulet pastas and topped it off with the Chocolate Torte which was straight from the heavens. UNREAL!!! We were so excited to try this restaurant so when a 9:30 PM reservation opened up, we jumped on it. Maybe not the ideal time for dinner, but who cares! First of all, the decor and vibe of the restaurant is simple and sophisticated. We spent some time on the rooftop before we were seated, and it was beautiful up there, and I was surprised that we didn't even have trouble finding somewhere to sit. Cut to dinner, and the service was wonderful, the food was absolutely delicious, and we even made friends with the couple sitting next to us. On top of the noise level they are playing music that you can't even make out. It just adds to the noise. Food incredible. Evan doesn't miss. Atmosphere is top of the charts, the decor is an ode to Hollywood with a touch of modern. Does not feel like a stuffy Beverly Hills restaurant. Clearly the staff is diverse and young which is a selling point, rooftop was gorgeous doesn't have those views you'd be looking for but overall it's bright and outdoorsy. This review is completely based off the general manager who stole our experience. I am a regular patron of all of Evan Funke's restaurants. Both the hostess and the female general manager completely lack hospitality, grace, communication skills and customer service required in their positions. The hostess "eye rolled" me and the general manager approached me with disdain and annoyance when I requested to speak to her in person. She was condescending in her language even stating she "did not like my tone", provided little issue resolution all based off my reservation and not allowing my party to have a drink at the second level since the rooftop was booked for a private party, which was beyond our control. Thank you to the rest of the staff, servers and sommelier that turned our experience around in addition the chef Evan Funke's phenomenal menu. read more

I met a friend here for dinner and drinks on Saturday and found the experience positive overall. Every aspect of the restaurant appears carefully curated - from the decor to the lighting to the food/drinks. After reading reviews and from things others have told me, I figured without a reservation, there was no way we would get a table as walk-ins on a Saturday night. It was honestly no problem at all. I checked in with the extremely friendly hostess who put my name on the wait list and then we went up to the rooftop to have a drink while waiting. We both tried the Emilia which is Funke's take on a spritz and it was refreshing and delicious! Also beautifully adorned with a dried orange slice and a flower. Within 20-30 minutes of putting my name in, I received a text that our table was ready. We were sat at a communal table, which consists of 3 sets of 2 adjacent seats spaced apart around a round table with a chair in between each pair so you don't feel like you're being forced to engage with strangers. We were told the portions were for sharing and that between the two of us, we should order 4-5 plates. We decided to start with the squash blossoms and then share the tagliatelle, both of which, in our opinion, were normal/ample portions. We finished with the meringata for dessert because that seemed to be the popular option. We thoroughly enjoyed each of our choices! After these three dishes, we felt completely satisfied with our meal. I would recommend starting slow and not ordering the recommended 4-5 items for 2 people because you might not need all of that. However, everything did look really tasty so maybe you want to do that so you can try more. My only complaint would be that the menu was nearly incomprehensible. I do speak some Italian and can usually navigate my way around a menu but my friend and I both struggled to understand the majority of the ingredients listed for each dish. While I'm sure the restaurant believes this makes the experience more authentic, I found actual restaurants in Italy to be more accommodating with the language barrier. That being said, I doubt you can order a bad meal here so maybe worth the risk of ordering a dish with unknown ingredients! read more

Wanted to celebrate my oldest and dearest friend's birthday, so we came to Funke. Meal was incredibly expensive. I walked away feeling like it was a bargain. Rarely do I eat a meal where I can close my eyes while eating and be transported to another place. I could feel and taste Bologna and Sicily and Rome in every bite. Big, popular, expensive and by the way--quite good--Funke seems like a classic Beverly Hills showcase for food and for folks who want to see and be seen. Funke has a solid and expansive Italian menu, which eventually tilts towards a few excellent, if extremely expensive entrees like rib eye, branzino, and swordfish. I am not so price sensitive but I don't think I've ever seen pastas breaking the $50 barrier--and there are a few that do here. Our neighbors sensibly split a pasta and the branzino, and that, along with a salad, is probably all one needs for a nice night here. All that said, the vibe at Funke was great, and the food was excellent. There are some really unique items on the menu as well, plus a great selection of Amaros after dinner. Try it if you can splurge and you get so lucky as we did to nail a table at this very hot new spot. read more

Hands down Evan Funke's best restaurant. The food was delicious. We tried a ton and nothing disappointed. Bruce Lee was our server and he was so wonderful. Kind, thoughtful and knew his stuff. That focaccia does taste like a cloud! The space was lovely. I preferred the first floor to the second, as the second floor felt cramped and really loud. The rooftop has no great views but it's still lovely to be outside. Looking forward to going back soon. read more

This is a caviar tasting in the best way -- all nine courses are topped with generous helpings of delicious N25 caviar. You get sweet, salty, savory, comfort food, upscale dining, everything comes together in the absolute best way. I especially loved the deconstructed deviled egg and the lobster roll, and the ice cream was some of the best I've ever had. The chips and dip came with the cutest miniature potato chips (although I'll admit I could have used a few more), and the caviar salmon burger was super flavorful. And, true to their word, they surprised my mom with a birthday cake -- and then surprised us both with complimentary lychee cocktails! The service was impeccable as well. Each person on the waitstaff was kind, helpful, and accommodating. We loved how descriptive they were of each dish. It was also really nice of them to decide to give us an extra 2-top so we would have room for all of the courses. On multiple occasions, Elton has given me poor service and a noticeable attitude. I chose to overlook it at first, but eventually I brought it to management's attention because the treatment was consistent and unacceptable. After that complaint, the situation escalated. When I returned, Elton refused to serve me altogether. He would not look at me, acknowledge me, or take my order. I was left sitting there while being completely ignored. It became so obvious that other guests sitting next to me noticed and were concerned enough to step in and ask him why I wasn't being helped and to tell him to serve me. That should never have to happen. I then asked for the manager I had previously spoken to, Leo, because I wanted to understand what was going on. I still have not received any clear explanation. What's most concerning is that this behavior feels intentional. No employee in hospitality gets to decide who they will or will not serve based on personal feelings. If a staff member's feelings are "hurt" after a complaint, that does not justify refusing service to a guest. That is not professionalism--that is the opposite of hospitality. It was honestly disturbing enough that the people next to me told me directly that it didn't feel right and that I shouldn't come back because it seemed like I wasn't wanted there. That is not okay, especially at an establishment of this caliber. I am actively trying to get in touch with someone at the hotel who can properly address this situation, because this needs to be taken seriously. No guest should ever feel ignored, singled out, or unwelcome in this way.

The food was very good -- maybe not the best I've ever had -- but the ambience and service elevated the whole night. What might've been an 8.5/10 meal became a true 10/10 experience. When I brought the issue to the server's attention, I was told a manager would come speak with me. I waited approximately 20 minutes, but no manager ever came by, and I eventually left. Mistakes happen, and I understand that. However, I expected at least an apology and for someone to address the situation. Instead, I felt my concern was ignored. It's unfortunate because the food was good and the service had been pleasant up until that point, but the way this was handled left me disappointed and overshadowed an otherwise enjoyable meal.

I don't want to sound all dramatic and such, but I'm dying to go back and try all the other items I didn't have, as well as check out the bar experience. I spoke to some locals outside before they opened, and they weren't just lovely -- they also painted a pretty picture of what the overall vibe is here. It's clear a lot of people in the Beverly Hills and Hollywood Hills area love coming here very frequently. Our server, who I assumed is named Nolan because that's what's shown on the receipt, was very accommodating, kind, and easy to talk to. I think he did a fantastic job dealing with my difficult, picky gf. Haha. I can't say anything was less than stellar. The croquettes in that celery purée stuff were phenomenal. Garlic bread was seasoned and baked to perfection. The bone broth sipper was nourishing af. French fries were perhaps the best I've had in years. Broccolini was fresh, high quality, and complimented the steak very well. I'm bummed we only got to try just the ribeye when it came to the cuts, but my gf did not want to order anything under medium or medium rare that night, so that was a bummer. It's her loss! The cocktails were also well made. Where the experience began to unravel was the service. Wine service took roughly 20 minutes, dessert was noticeably delayed, and our server seemed to disappear for extended periods throughout the evening. The most frustrating part came at the end of the meal when it took more than 25 minutes to receive the check. When it finally arrived, it was delivered by a manager in a manner that felt dismissive rather than hospitable. To make matters worse, an automatic gratuity had already been added to the bill. While I understand the practice in some situations, it felt particularly disappointing given the level of service we received throughout the evening. MATŪ serves outstanding food, and that is what earns this review more than a few stars. However, hospitality is about more than what comes out of the kitchen. For a restaurant operating at this price point, the service should match the quality of the food. Unfortunately, on this visit, it did not. The service is polished, attentive, and effortlessly elegant without ever feeling pretentious. There are plenty of trendy restaurants in Los Angeles, but Marea is something rarer: a restaurant that is genuinely excellent. The kind of place you find yourself thinking about days later and immediately planning your next visit. So please, if you go, be respectful. Order the pasta. Appreciate the seafood. Tip well. And try not to tell too many people...I'd like to keep getting a reservation. ;)

It's definitely good for date or business meal though as it has a nice ambiance. I'd give 4/5 for that. Would I come back? Sure, but I don't have to be a repeater of this restaurant to be honest as there are many other restaurants with similar quality (if not better) of food for more reasonable price.

Both sushi dishes had to be sent back, which is already a bad start for a restaurant of this caliber. The steaks, which should be the highlight, were underwhelming and but not terrible. Sides didn't redeem the experience either, infact the lobster mac and cheese, in particular, was shockingly bad. It tasted like microwaved Kraft with a tiny, almost nonexistent piece of lobster. Our favorite item on the menu was the bread basket and bone marrow. Even dessert fell flat, which is rare to mess up but somehow still happened. For a group of self-proclaimed food lovers, this was genuinely surprising -- and not in a good way. There are far better options at this price point. Steak 48 easily outshines Mastro's in both quality and execution, and even BOA along with BLVD deliver a more consistent and enjoyable experience. Overall, a VERY disappointing night and absolutely not worth the price point. You're better off literally in any steakhouse but this one.

The cracks in the facade appeared almost immediately. I arrived specifically seeking their highly lauded agnolotti, only to find it entirely absent from the menu. While seasonal shifts are standard in fine dining, this initial letdown was a harbinger of the meal to come. A Fleeting Moment of Promise The evening began with a solitary triumph: the Sfincione in Bianco ($13). This Sicilian focaccia was exactly as it should be. It offered a beautifully light, spongy interior enveloped by a crisp, aggressively well-seasoned exterior. It was a masterclass in textural contrast and simple, effective flavor. Tragically, this would be the sole culinary joy of the entire evening. Deep-Fried Disappointments The descent began with the Fiori di Zucca ($28). At its core, the soft ricotta filling was undeniably pleasant. However, the execution of the squash blossom itself was fundamentally flawed. The upper half of the blossom was heavily deep-fried and saturated with what tasted shockingly like low-grade, cheap oil. My only advice to future diners attempting this dish is an absurd one: eat the cheese from the bottom, and discard the top half entirely. The accompanying ragú was equally uninspired--under-seasoned, lacking robust meaty character, and entirely flat. We fell in love with Motherwolf, another sister restaurant located in Weho, that we knew Funke is a must try destination. The Daviola Pizza, with its perfectly charred crust and spicy salami, was a delightful balance of flavors. We've been wanting to try Funke in Beverly Hills for quite some time and finally made it there last night. We had previously tried Mother Wolf and honestly felt it missed the mark a bit, so we were curious to see how Funke compared. Safe to say -- Funke absolutely delivered. We stopped by without a reservation and the restaurant was incredibly accommodating from the moment we walked in. The hostess was friendly, welcoming, and very helpful. The restaurant itself is stunning -- three stories, with the top floor offering an amazing outdoor dining experience, which is where we chose to sit. The ambiance was spectacular and set the tone for a great evening. For food, we started with the Rucola salad, which was fresh and delicious. Then came the Amalfitana pizza -- absolutely spectacular. But the real standout was the Orecchiette pasta. As a self-proclaimed Italian food snob, I can honestly say it was quite possibly the best pasta I've had outside of Italy. What impressed me even more was the level of service throughout the night. From the hostess to our server, everyone was attentive and professional. I had previously dined multiple times at their other restaurant, Felix, which made me excited to try Funke for my special occasion. From the moment we were seated, it took a staggering 1.5 hours for us to understand that we will not receive any mains. We received our two starters (which were pretty basic...) ONE glass of wine, and two non-alcoholic beverages. Unfortunately, our main courses never made it to our table due to order mistakes made by the restaurant staff. Despite having around five people serving our table of TWO, not a single one took responsibility. Frustrated with the ongoing circus of errors and poor service, we ultimately made the decision to leave the restaurant. New person came and apologised, but still charged us over $100 for a terrible experience that they provided us. The lack of coordination and organisation displayed by the restaurant was truly astounding. My birthday dinner was completely ruined, and I wouldn't wish such a catastrophe upon anyone else.
