Half Soy Garlic Chicken (Half)
Kat S.

If you want fresh and hot chicken, this place never disappoints. I always get the soy garlic flavor and it's seriously so good. There's usually a bit of a wait, but honestly I don't mind because they cook the chicken fresh once you order. You can really tell the difference, and I'd say it's definitely worth waiting a few extra minutes for.

They have a mix menu from fried chicken itself, to the box set and croissant sandwich. I got the box set and the croissant sando and both were just average. The chicken itself were crispy, but no special flavoring. The croissant sando comes with thick slices of pickles which did not compliment too well with the chicken taste. The box set had a good variety of rice, salad, soup and a brownie but each item was also average in taste. The inside was small, limited seating but it doesn't get too busy as most people do take out. It's a self serve utensil station. Parking in this plaza can be limited too depending when you come. Staff were friendly and helpful! Only one making the food and taking orders on a busy Saturday lunch time so be prepared to wait. Overall, given the variety of options for korean fried chicken in Irvine, the taste just fell under the mark.

Taken November 2020 Original furai chicken: Very crispy and delicious fresh! Probably one of the crispiest fried chicken I've had! I tried reheating it the next day and it's not the same. Just eat it all at once! Sweet & spicy: Sooo good! I thought I wouldn't like this because it's kind of basic but there's an extra something in here that makes it different. Lemon garlic: Really strong garlic flavor. I really could not taste much lemon if at all. Smoke soy: It's indeed has a smoked soy flavor. It's good at first but after I while I got sick of it. Furai rice cake skewers: Nice and toasty on the outside and chewy on the inside. Pretty good w the dipping sauces as well.

Furai is one of my go-to spots for fried chicken in Irvine. I usually do takeout, and even after the drive home, the chicken stays impressively crispy. My boyfriend and I typically split a whole chicken; half original and half sauced. Our current favorite is the soy garlic. I really appreciate the extras they include: fresh jalapeños, a generous portion of pickled radish, and a dipping sauce on the side. We recently tried the Kajung sauce, but it was a bit too sweet for my taste, and that's saying something because I usually love anything sweet. As for the fried potato wedges, I wish they were a bit crispier, but I do like that they're included for variety. Overall, Furai hits the spot when you're craving Korean-style fried chicken with solid flavors and good portions.

$1.50 Bleu Cheese side
Clark O.

I really dislike cheap, nickel and dime places like this. I paid over $100 for 40 wings and selected four wing flavors. On top of that, I paid $3.50 for two extra sides of blue cheese. What I received were two half full ramekins of runny, warm blue cheese. When I called the restaurant to complain, I was told that blue cheese and ranch count as a wing sauce. So apparently when I ordered extra blue cheese, I was not getting extra at all. I was just ordering blue cheese as one of the sauces. Paying over $100 for 40 wings that come with no dipping sauce is ridiculous. To make it worse, the woman on the phone was rude and dismissive. Trying to get a straight answer from her was like pulling teeth. Places like this feel soulless and cheap, and it makes you wonder why anyone gets into the food business if they are going to cut corners and treat customers this way. This type of penny pinching approach turns customers away and guarantees I will not be returning.

We got the chicken to go and it was so yummy!!! They put rice cakes on top of the chicken. I just felt like the chicken was falling off the bones and they have such a good variety of sauce.

Boneless Chicken Meal Box (sweet and spicy sauce on side)
Katherine T.

inside was a bit small but it had a good amount of seating. worker was kind and food came out pretty quick. boneless chicken bento (3/5) - the chicken was perfectly crispy and not too dry. i got the sweet and spicy sauce on the side, very solid flavor!! sadly, the rest of the box was very underwhelming. the miso soup, potato salad, and rice all had an odd plastic flavor to them so i ended up throwing it away. i'd definitely just get an order of the chicken on its own next time. spicy croissant sandwich (4/5) - this was really good! mild had good flavor without being overly spicy. the side of slaw was also really good.

Kang Jung Chicken (Half)

Furai is a must-try. The chicken comes out super crispy and perfectly seasoned every time. I like to order mine with the sauce on the side so the breading stays crunchy throughout the meal. While the inside is a bit small, the great flavor and quick service keep me coming back. Definitely one of my favorite fried chicken stops.

20 Wings

Y'all almost lost me with that 20-minute wait for 20 wings, but then you brought the crispy, steamy magic and turned my frown upside down. Seriously, the hot steam from the first few bites was so intense, it felt like I was walking into a sauna just to get my chicken fix. But let me tell you, it was worth it. The wings were so fresh and hot, I had to eat the wings with my mouth open, just to cool them down. Hands down, the freshest and crispiest fried chicken in OC. Now, about those sauces: they served everything on the side, which I thought was a little weird at first, because most KFC places have it lathered on the chicken. My man had the Garlic Jam. Sweet, garlicky, no heat--9/10. The Favorite Daughter (shhh, don't tell the others) went with Sweet & Spicy. She liked it but it was more sweet than spicy--9/10. Me? Mango Habanero. Let me tell you, I couldn't taste the habanero at all, so I went full savage mode with some ghost pepper seasoning. Double dunk, baby. 10/10. Would cry tears of joy into those wings again. Worth the wait. I would definitely recommend eating there to get the full hot experience. You won't regret it.

1/2 Kang Jung Chicken
Molly J.

Chicken was amazing, I think a lot better than a lot of the bbq chickens. The Kang Jung was flavorful and loved the little pieces of rice cakes in there. I absolutely loved the flavor the soy garlic, it was just so tiny in comparison to the Kang Jung. It almost felt like they forgot some pieces. They both came with potato wedges which also was a nice touch. The cucumber salad was a fail. I was expecting a nice refreshing fresh cucumber salad but it seemed like they got the sweet deli pickles from the grocery store and marinated it with some sesame oil or something. It was also super overpriced for that tiny cucumber salad. That's why I'm giving it a 4/5, because of the soy garlic chicken portion and the cucumber salad.

Natasha R.

Excellent Korean fried chicken. A litttle on the pricier side but totally worth it . The bone in chicken is halal as confirmed by the owner herself. The sauces that come with it are amazing too. The service is good and the place has decent area To sit.

After being fed several videos on IG singing the praises of Yoo's Place, I'll admit I was both…read morehopeful and skeptical of what they showed. The former because everything looked and sounded so good; the latter because it's hard to know whether you can trust what some of these foodie accounts are saying is truthful or paid for. Given how I write Yelp reviews, the irony in saying that doesn't escape me. However, now that I've been here several times, I can happily report that everything those IG accounts said was entirely true! Even though their complex isn't very large (parking is usually easy, but it can be scarce at time), Yoo's Place itself is decently large and always seems to have tables available for groups large or small. Similarly, their menu is rather extensive as well, to the point where it took us a while to figure out what we wanted to try most the first time we came here. Whether it be their appetizers, soups, stews, cold noodles, hot noodles, BBQ meats, stone pot dishes, bossam, broiled fish, galbijjim, and even omurice and Chinese dishes. In short, too many dishes for me to try before finally writing this! -- BANCHAN For the most part, all of these were great! Of the bunch, the fishcakes, kimchi, and radish were my favorites. I also like the kabocha a lot, but they sometimes slather too much mayo/sauce. -- HAEMUL PAJUN - Seafood & Green Onion Pancake As weird as it is to say, this almost came with too many goodies, as it was chock full of seafood and green onions. Definitely a nice problem to have, but I do wish there had been a bit more batter to make this crispier. -- HAEMUL KALGUKSU - Homemade Noodles with Seafood I don't get this often, so I don't know how it compares to others, but this tasted so good! The noodles had such a nice chew to them and I love that they didn't skimp on the seafood. Plus, the portion is large enough where you could easily stretch this into two meals! -- SEOLLEONG TANG - Ox Bone Soup Similar to the Haemul Kalguksu, this was one hearty bowl of soup! The broth was rich and beefy, there were several large chunks of meat, and there was a lot of noodles in this. Plus, I liked that they also included a lot of veggies and strips of eggs, too. -- DAKNALGAE TWIGIM - Deep Fried Chicken Wings Despite falling a bit short of what we hoped for, this was still pretty solid. While the portion initially seemed light (only about eight wings), each piece was HUGE, the batter was crispy, and the chicken itself was juicy. I just wish it had been a little more flavorful. -- LA GALBI & (SUKEO) SOON TOFU COMBO - Marinated Beef Short Rib and Seafood & Beef Soon Tofu Soup The LA Galbi was great - meaty, well marinated, tender, lightly charred, and the portion was sizable for a combo. As for the Soon Tofu, it was terrific! The tofu soup was rich and hearty, had a good mix of beef and seafood, and was just so comforting. -- JAJANG MYUN - Noodles with Black Bean, Pork, Cream Sauce Maybe it's because I haven't had a legit Korean Jajang Myun in ages, but this was pretty good! The noodles were perfect and I love how it came loaded with plenty of pork and onions. The sauce had a bit of an aftertaste to it, but I still liked this. -- KODUNGAE - Broiled Mackerel This was delicious! Compared to the one we had at BCD, this one was deboned better and was just as big, if not bigger. Plus, not only was it still really moist, but the mackerel still had some crispy edges, too. -- KALBIJJIM - Braised Short Ribs While I do wish this had more chili peppers in this (it was really yellow), the taste of this was still awesome. More importantly, there was a fair amount of short ribs, which were so tender and meaty, along with rice noodles, glass noodles, cheese, and vegetables. SO GOOD! -- NAENGMYUN - Sliced Beef & Vegetables over Noodles with Spicy Sauce This was on the house (possibly from ordering the kalbijjim) and, even though it might have been a scaled down version of the dish, this was still so good! The noodles had the perfect chew, there was just a touch of heat, and the overall flavors were amazing! In addition to the food, the service here is fantastic. All of the workers are super friendly and the kitchen gets dishes out very quickly. What's more, the workers will happily refill any banchan dishes and every table comes with a small thermos of beef bone broth that is just so PERFECTLY DELICIOUS! Even when it's hot out, it still hits the spot - it's just so warm and comforting! Honestly, it's one of my favorite things at Yoo's Place! With so many options in Irvine and around the rest of OC, I know there may very well be better places than Yoo's Place, especially when it comes to a specific dish. However, I can't imagine that Yoo's Place isn't among the best of the bunch. At the very least, it's the best I've tried thus far and I wouldn't hesitate to keep coming back even as I try more places in OC!

There is nobody else standing in line outside and the owner comes outside to tell me 2 times that I need to wait 30-40 minutes. I told her there is no waiting in front of me, and that it should be first come, first serve. She says no, you can only sit on tables for 1 person and it will be a 30-40 min wait for that. I said okay, but if there is no line and people are done eating with empty tables it should be fine, right? There is a waitlist, and that it should go in order. She said no, you can only get seated on tables for 1. Then she proceeded to say it's a 30-40 min wait again as if I didn't already know that for the second time. I told her i'd wait, but now i'm feeling bad and don't know if she even cares to earn my business. It's my 5th time coming here, and unfortunately this place was one of my favorite Korean restaurants and since I'm from out of town I make sure to visit each time I am in the OC. I'm not sure if I want to continue coming back here if service remains this way. It's embarrassing enough to come alone, it's even worse when you're called out in front of people inside of the restaurant while there are only 3 people waiting outside. When I got seated she didn't even give me a menu and asked me what I wanted. Lucky for her i'm Korean and was already a repeat customer from the early days so I was able to order right away-otherwise how could I order? God forbid I ask for any recommendations on the menu... 1 star well deserved for this. Congratulations this is the first time I rated a fellow Korean restaurant 1 star. There is a first time for everything I suppose.

During that visit, I wasn't able to get the rice cake beef dumplings soup that I usually get here, so I opted for my other go to, which was Galbi Tang and it was not filling at all due to the smaller portion and how the bone-in beef was much shorter thN the usual size it came in before. The beef was also chewy and not soft nor tender. Noodles inside the soup was barely there, too. Husband got their stone pot rice with bulgogi and also wasn't full at the end of the meal. The Galbi Tang had 5 big chunks of beef deboned and was quite tender and juicy! So glad they improved on that dish portion. The flavor of the broth was still the same as well.
