Worst chicken EVER!!! The crust is very thick & very oily! And the chicken is greasy!

Do I LOVE Korean Fried Chicken!!! YES I do. I just love Fried Chicken in general but Furai is one of the tastiest and juiciest in town. I feel people compare their chicken to Chan Chan's but it's a bit different. My order: Original Furai Chicken (Half Order) $15.98 - 5 Stars - I choose the Soy Garlic Sauce, comes with 2 Potato Wedges and fresh cold pickled radish & jalapenos (for free). This is my fave sauce flavor, it's a great balance of Umami & Sweetness. The chicken is crispy with a light batter that I appreciate. Some places the batter is so heavy, you eat more of the batter than the meat ratio. PROS: FOOD - I like the light crispy batter vs thick batters. Chicken is juicy and always hot. I really like the simple sides they give for free (Pickled Radish & Jalapenos) and they are pretty good. LOCATION - Inside Zion Market (enter to the left side, the only "Enter" side of the store) and continue to walk to the far left, they are the first food vendor. CONS: PORTION - You don't get a much as you think when you get half an order. It doesn't feed 2, I can eat the order myself. Not shareable IMO. PRICE - I agree with most reviews that their prices are PRETTY high. Probably the only reason I visit them less than I would like to. You don't get much for $16. But I will splurge once a month cuz it is good. WAIT TIME - The order can take anywhere between 20-45 mins if they are busy (avoid peak hours like dinner time and weekends). VERDICT - There are so many Korean Fried Chicken places in Irvine that are just as good (different but still good). They just don't get my business as much as other restaurants in the area that offer more for bang for your buck. I still appreciate and like their flavors and chicken though. read more

Located inside Zion Market (When you walk in make a left and it's right there). Ordered the "Original Furai" half a chicken ($15) and it came with about 7 pieces mixed (legs, thighs, wings, breast). It also came with three potato wedges, some pickled daikon and pickled jalapeños (Make sure to ask for it if it's not given). If you decide to go with the original with sauce on the side, I recommend the Lemon garlic or the garlic jam sauce! Super good sauces. The chicken was super crispy and fresh, hot out the fryer. Chicken didn't blow me away, but it's definitely solid. The workers were super nice. FYI, there are seats inside for you to sit and eat, but not that many. Since they make the chicken fresh, made to order, it takes about 15 mins. read more

This is our local Korean Fried Chicken shop and we've had consistently good experiences with them. Although the seating at the store is limited, the space is clean and there is outdoor seating nearby. The staff are friendly and the food travels well as takeout. We prefer the boneless fried chicken and although they have a nice selection of sauces to dip, we find it much tastier when ordering the Kang Jung chicken with the sauce mixed in (together with rice cakes, potato wedges and pumpkin seeds). The chicken & egg cro-sand is also tasty, but quite messy. Furai Chicken is always a hit when we bring it to a potluck to watch a game with friends. read more

I'm so glad we stumbled upon this establishment. The chicken is so juicy and the skin is so crunchy. I do wish the sauce was slightly on the thicker side instead of being runny/wet, but the soy garlic flavor is amazing. It has a perfect amount of salty/garlic/sweetness to is. The 1/2 soy garlic chickens comes out extremely fresh and hot and comes with pickled radish and pickled jalapeños. My bf ordered their chicken sandwich and it was super juicy, tangy (from the coleslaw), and delicious. Fair warning - there is no easy way to eat it as it is a bit messy, but the flavor is great. The lady that was taking our order has a very nice and sweet demeanor, and informed us we could turn any of our food options into a meal (drink + side). Inside the store is very clean and inviting. What a waste of a fried chicken experience. When you think Korean fried chicken, you think bold flavors, a mean crunch, and messy goodness. This fell short by a landslide. The first girl who helped us at the checkout was really sweet. She tried to save us money with getting the 2 side, 2 drink and desert option that you get with an entree. Then she told us a 25 min wait. So we're on the edge of our seats hungry. So we kill time outside and walk around the center. We sat down at a table (which are really cramped) and they bring us our food. It looked good, just like the other Yelp photos. But it was mediocre. We were hungry so of course we kept eating it, but the chicken had no soul. It tasted like mass produced chicken wings they got in special from Costco. The soy/garlic sauce was underwhelming, didn't complement the wings at all. The jalapeños they provided didn't provide any spice factor. The rice skewers had some game; crunchy on the outside and sticky on the inside, but again the dipping sauces they gave us didn't complaint the rice. The next side we try are the potatoes wedges. NO flavor. Tasted like boiled potato and was way too thick. It's an insult to call those wedges. We didn't want to continue eating wedges when we saw that they had beer battered fries that looked more appealing. We wanted a good experience so I go up to the register to talk to the girl who helped me asking if we could swap the wedges for fries and the manager butts in and says I can't do that. I told her we don't like how the wedges taste and the customers want something else. She was a biatch (pardon my French) and said she simply won't do that. She already cooked the wedges and wouldn't take them back. I walked away visibly flustered and sat down at my table. The sweet girl from earlier then brought us beer battered fries and said here's a small serving of it. We tried them and INSTANTANEOUSLY much better flavor than the sad wedges. It really put a downer on the whole experience that the manager was so rude. We told her it's our first time trying Furai. It took so much arm twisting to get basic customer service. We then tried the matcha cheesecake. It was delicate/fluffy and rich at the same time. That was their saving grace. I won't ever come back here again. I can get my Korean fried chicken fix elsewhere and be treated like a valued customer. Furai chicken was infuriating and inferior. read more

This is probably one of my favorite Korean fried chicken spot. I love their croissant Korean fried chicken sandwich; I find it to be unique and it just hits the spot!!!! We've done take out a couple times because I usually happen to swing by when my dog is with me and so we just order and then sit outside and enjoy our food. They're very friendly and the service is amazing; I'm also happy that they're okay with me ordering with my dog real quick. Would highly recommend if you want something extremely CRISPY. Their sauces are amazing. We got the sweet and spicy and the soy garlic. In my opinion, both were great but soy garlic was my favorite. I would totally recommend. We ordered a half and half and was able to choose two flavors. Chicken without sauce are giving the optional dipping sauces to choose from. They have so many sides here, I'm hoping to come back to try them all. The Belgium waffle was tasty and a perfect combo with the chicken. My new go to! Love Furai chicken and love the service and food. We've gone here about 3 times now and have never been disappointed. We've been ordering the meal set that comes with two sides, a drink and dessert. My favorite chicken flavor is the green onion. It can get messy to eat but I love the combination of flavors and they give a lot of green onion! We've also tried more than half of the sides and I would say my go tos are the beer battered fries and coleslaw. Everything else was decent but those paired the best. We have been doing takeout and the food is always super fresh when we pick up as everything is made to order. The ajumma who works here is the sweetest and always makes me feel remembered too. Here you can add a combo to it where you get two sides and drinks and a sweet as well. I think it was a great deal and yes I did add the Mac salad and cucumber pickles with a brownie. It is great to see Furai relocate with more additions to the menu. Service 5/5 - The cashier was super friendly and made us feel very welcome. We were the only ones in the restaurant. I like the fact that the water and utensils are available to grab myself. Very convenient! Food 5/5 - Was so excited to try the Chicken Croissant Sandwiches...they did not disappoint! Between the Furai Chicken & Egg Cro-Sand and Spicy Furai Chicken Cro-Sand, I liked the latter better. The Nashville seasoning on the chicken was delicious. Food - Theres not many options for dry seasoned korean fried chicken in Irvine. This place is definitely unique because of its variety of flavors and fried chicken types. My partner and I tried the curry seasoned fried chicken and it was delicious (although a little too greasy, even for fried chicken). I did wish it came along with a sauce though, would have been extra tasty with a garlic aioli/ranch dipping sauce. The battered fries were absolutely amazing. I would say even better than the chicken. We also tried the basque cheesecake - yummy as well but nothing special. Service - Everyone was very friendly and the service was quite quick even with the number of orders they were receiving. Ambiance - Very limited indoor seating because its a small space. But I found the other sides and sauces to have an odd, super vinegary flavor that left an unpleasant aftertaste in my mouth for a long time after eating. I stopped going to Chan Chan for Korean fried chicken in Irvine because Furai Chicken offers more sauce choices and I feel that their chicken is crispier. I love ordering over the phone because they are always super friendly and give me a true estimate of how long it will take before the food is ready. The prices may seem high, but half an order of chicken is plenty to feed two people and the quality of the chicken is unmatched. The wait can be quite long, but it's worth it! One of my fave KFC places in Irvine! The chicken is super crispy and juicy. I'd recommend getting the chicken wings - I find it a bit easier to eat than the whole chicken. Out of all the Korean style fried chicken, Furai by far is my favorite. I've tried their traditional as well as the sweet & spicy sauce coated ones and both are great. Their pickled sides are great as well. They are fortunate that they haven't had to change this business model due to Covid since this chicken shop is an order & pick up chicken stand located inside the Zion market which is perfect when you need to shop anyways conveniently grab some togo chicken for dinner. What I'll usually do is first stop to order the chicken because it will take approximately 20min since it's made fresh to order.
