Doug from Furious Photographers is absolutely hands down the best vendor you will hire on your most important day. To start off, Doug was SUPER fast and responsive with all of my questions and inquiries. His website and blog photos reeled me in and his personality and professionalism anchored me down for life. To give you a quick briefing of my personality. I'm highly meticulous and extremely nitpicky. I analyzed over 1000 websites from photographers in the Bay Area, So Cal, Texas, Chicago, Hawaii, and NY. I finally narrowed it down to a short list of affordable photographers and a list of high caliber ideal photographers. Doug was the only one who had both qualities I was looking for. Unfortunately, after all my research, I discovered he was already booked for my date. This has so far been the single most disappointing element of my wedding planning. As I stated above, Doug is incredibly responsive, unlike most wedding vendors I dealt with. He knew i was interested in photography and before I knew it, we were emailing each other like old friends even though I wasn't able to book him for my wedding date. Despite the fact that I couldn't give him my business, he continued to email me with photography knowledge (since I was looking to get an SLR) and giving me tips. He genuinely cares about people and his art and is willing to work within your budget b/c he truly loves what he does. You can sense the passion he has when he shows you his favorite shots or when he talks about his cameras and equipment like it's a Lourve artifact. Skip forward a few months, I'm at my friend's wedding and she was luckily able to book Doug and his wonderful partner Jeff. They were the coolest guys, so relaxed and always smiling. Doug even brought an extra camera for me to play with and he handed out his own equipment to share with the guests who owned SLRs. The guests were thrilled and had a great time playing with his gadgets. My friend's wedding was 3 LONG days (indians know how to party) and Doug and Jeff were in top form every second of all 3 days. I even asked them to come have one drink with us for NYE but they declined b/c they don't drink on the job and even when they weren't working, they were preparing for the next day so they wanted to be truly alert. About 100 photos were ready for viewing by cocktail hour and ALL the photos were ready in a proof gallery in ONE WEEK. Unbelieveable turnaround time. Basically, these guys raised the bar/set the bar for great photography and professionalism and there is no other out there like them! As I write this review, I'm still bummed beyond belief that I can't have Doug on our special day BUT he will definitely be our resident family photographer for the rest of our lives. My entire family and extended family are ready to book him in a heartbeat after seeing those photos. They were speechless and in awe and one of the aunties even cried because Doug captured such emotion from the day. Doug is swamped these days so his website and blog are not up to date but I'm sure he can show you some recent client galleries and trust me, you'll be in photography heaven. From the moment I discovered the Furious Photographers website and blog, I new that I wanted to book them. Doug and Danny had a refreshing identity and unique style in their photos and that was EXACTLY what we were looking for. I frantically called my then fiance to call and find out their availability and he told me that he talked to Doug on the phone and he seemed SUPER nice and chill. We were both a bit surprised since I've been met with less than friendly responses when I called other photographers earlier in my search. Since then it was a lovely journey with our wedding photographers. They're not only really sweet and fun but professional. I was delighted when they answered any questions we had via phone call or email really quickly. I also got all my photos sent to me in less than a month, a record. They're also really great at making you feel relaxed. The day of the engagement photo shoot was pretty much AMAZING! It was soooo much fun and they had so many creative ideas. I was really amused to watch them do their "craft" since they're pretty much geniuses at incorporating the changing environment and using it to their advantage for unique pictures. My wedding pictures turned out so beautiful that some of my friends asked if they were real, lol. My friends were impressed when I told them that they do such a good job of taking the actual picture on the spot that they don't need to post-process that much. I never write reviews. But Doug and Jason did such a great job on our wedding day it's hard not to rave about their work. They exceeded all our expectations. I actually met with a lot photographers for my wedding as well.. Douglas is the nicest, and most friendly photographer I've ever met. He is very easy to communicate with and respond my emails very quickly while other vendors wouldn't reply that fast. Because of that, Douglas is the ONLY vendor that I didn't need to worry about while planning my wedding. We got our wedding photos and they look soooo nice, we double look because it's sooo nice!!! We can't thank Doug enough for all that he did for us on our wedding day, but also for the support and professionalism he showed in all the weeks leading up to the wedding. The photos are the only thing you have left after the whole day is over, and it's so important to choose the right person to capture the day for you. For this reason, we took a lot of time in care in choosing our photographer and I'm 100% confident that we made the best choice. Doug is extremely polite, courteous, and friendly, and though getting your photo taken is awkward at first, he made both of us feel very comfortable right away. Doug is absolutely phenomenal. We booked him for an engagement session in October 2014 as a test run for our wedding and he totally nailed it! Seriously, given the circumstances I we were in awe of the results. I could tell that Doug was cool and relaxed based on emails that we exchanged in the months leading up to the shoot. But the one thing I couldn't have planned for was how excellent he is at improvising under pressure, because of course(!) the date that I chose months in advance was the rainiest, most terrible day in recent memory. I was really upset when I woke up and saw how awful it was outside. We ended up meeting with Doug near the Brooklyn Bridge and not only was he completely unfazed, he was totally prepared for the horrible weather and proceeded to take some of the most outstanding engagement photos I've ever seen. Which is even cooler considering that my wife and I are in them! Doug was a real trooper and was adamant about making sure that we were happy with our photos. And best of all, we had our pictures back in no time and they were awesome!! So fast forward to the wedding. As expected, Doug arrived right on time, this time with his partner Jason. They both looked sharp and were extremely professional throughout the day. Several guests were really pumped to finally meet the fantastic photographer that took our gorgeous engagement photos and luckily the weather was much more favorable this time around. My husband and I are beyond thrilled with the work that Doug and Jason did on our wedding day, 3/19/2016! They were totally courteous and professional, but also had a lot of fun with the family, bridal party and guests. We got SO many comments from guests who adored them. Plus, we got our photos back amazingly fast, and they are truly perfect... I consider myself fairly un-photogenic, but I LOVE the photos they got! They are some kind of wonderful photo wizards :) I also used Doug for engagement photos, which I was kind of hesitant about getting (because I don't like taking photos), but I'm forever grateful that I got them anyway, and that Doug was there to make us feel comfortable, fun and glam. So many shots from both days came out looking like a high-fashion shoot, while others captured adorable intimate moments. Lastly, we also added on the Furious Photographers photo booth last-minute, and I'm so glad we did -- the guests all had a blast, and you get the digital files of each of those photos as well. Our experience with Doug and his Furious Photographers' couldn't have been any better. Since our first meeting things went -extremely- well, with great ease and flow of communication. Both me and my husband (btw a designer himself, working in film studios and being surrounded all the time by the best 'image-makers' that are) were at awe with Doug's portfolio and his capacity to create the best visual moments out of any situation and circumstance, admiration that keeps consistent to say the least to this day when we still look at our wedding album and go through all these beautiful images one is used to seeing only in great fashion magazines or beautiful film productions. It definitely is the work of a passionate and knowledgeable artist that knows how to reflect the emotion, charm, character and intensity of a wedding in a very unique way. Everything from the personal connection, pre-planning of the event, and the actual wedding day (as crazy and hectic as these celebrations are!) went extremely smooth, relaxed and professional, with a phenomenal capacity from the 'furious' team to develop, adjust (and improvise when needed!) a great performance with great results and the friendliest smile at all time. The thing with photographing an event like this is that, whatever is done that day by the professionals involved, however gracefully, intensely and artistically is all captured on film, is the final and only word, and forever stays reflected that way in the photo album. Doug did our engagement photos at Sequoia National Park, our wedding photos (Chinese and American), and photobooth. First, the engagement pictures. My then fiance and I were not great at having our pictures taken but Doug put us at ease and made us really comfortable by placing us where we needed to be. His direction and instruction, in my opinion, is what made the photos great. We got SO MANY compliments on our photos as he not only captured us, but also of the beautiful landscape that is Sequoia. He was very accommodating to our schedules and that made it super easy to work with him. At the weddings, he knew exactly how to handle Asian parents and family members by communicating in both English and Chinese. He was also able to coordinate about 50+ people in group pictures, making sure that no face was left unseen. He was direct in positioning all of them. So many of our friends and family kept coming up to me telling me how awesome Doug was. He even managed to get the kids to take pictures and you all know that is no easy task. The photobooth was great too because it wasn't a traditional "booth." It was giant inflatable white backdrop so it gave us more space for large group pictures. As for photos, we got our wedding and photobooth photos about 2 months after the wedding. That is fast and all the edited pictures look amazing. I rarely write a review on yelp, but I cannot not to write about FURIOUS PHOTOGRAPHER. I am a really picky person at photograph . I have spent almost 2 months doing my search to choose the photographers for my wedding. We have no experience and knowledge and so many concerns about photographing in wedding. However, all of those concerns were gone after we met Doug. He is really passionate about his job. Even though our wedding is his first same sex one, he was extremely professional when he was talking about it and made me and my partner really comfortable about it. So we decided to go with him. He is really quick at responding the emails and answers all my questions in details. On the day of my wedding, he helps us alot and know what he is doing. He is super fast and move on and on to many different poses. He kept reminds us to take photos since it was really busy for us on the wedding day. He did fly to San Francisco with us for our engagement photos. That was awesome. Me and my partner was so afraid of taking photos in the public but he once again made us so comfortable and open mind about our relationship. So we finish the photo shoots perfectly. Even though he said on the contract that would be 10 hours of photographing but he spent for us more than 14 hours and didn't complain about it. If you are looking for a photographer that can capture you wedding day beautifully .. Doug is a right guy. I promise you won't disappoint about his works. read more

Though my review is wayyy overdue, it's not a reflection of my opinion of Doug's work (which I think is pure awesomeness!). Heck I think this might be my first review on Yelp so that says something about him. During our wedding in 2010, we were choosing between Doug and this other extremely famous photographer (after interviewing 10+ photographers). Unfortunately, we made the wrong decision. I had a lot of regret for not going with Doug, and I'm not sure why, but decided to email him after our wedding to rant. Doug felt so bad for us (though it was no fault of his) that he offered to take "makeup" photos for us. By then we already had a baby son! His photos were so wonderful that to this day my facebook profile/heading photos are still his, even though we probably should think about updating them soon considering there's a new addition (8-month-old girl) to our family! Regardless, we will treasure Doug's photos forever and I'm sure my son will too when he gets older...I plan to put up some of those photos in our house but alas, I am a big procrastinator at house projects too. Not only is Doug super talented, he is really personable and fun to work with. He made my husband and I feel really relaxed and happy which in my mind helped bring out the best in us (for the photos). By the end of the session, we saw him as an old friend. But too bad he lives so far away from us. By the way, he has really interesting stories to tell. Ask him about the "leaking" shower faucet! If I could reverse time, I would NOT have chosen to pay $10,000 for that other photographer. We would rather have paid that obscene amount of money (in our minds at least) for Doug instead, assuming the quality would be as good as our family session, which I have no doubt to be the case. I just got married this past weekend on July 4th. I will make this short and to the point. Doug and Jason took my engagement photos and my wedding photos. My experience throughout my history with Doug has been AMAZING. He is quick and knows how to direct people to pose in photos. My bridal party exact words were "WOW, we like him he is quick and knows what he is doing"! The minute Doug and Jason arrive to take our photos for our engagement and or wedding photos, they work with our timeline. Doug made me feel comfortable by making me laugh even though I have a hard time posing for photos. Doug also coordinated a photobooth for me and all my guests loved the backdrop and the ease of the set up. We knew for our wedding we wanted the best photographers we could find while being on a budget. We decided to go with Furious Photographers since we knew Doug and his amazing work ahead of time. Coordinating with them via email was always smooth and easy. Doug was extremely responsive throughout the whole process. Doug and Danny flew out to NY and joined us for our special day. Having both of them there allowed them to be able to split up in the morning to take pictures of both groom and bride getting ready. Doug and Danny are extremely professional and incredible understanding with all the wedding craziness. They captured amazing shots during the ceremony and we had a great time taking pictures before the reception. It was extremely comfortable working with them since we really trusted them with their tips and suggest poses. The highlight was seeing the digital pictures and how amazing they all came out. Putting together the finished album was also easy since we could review the layout, provide comments, and it was an open conversation throughout the process. We are extremely pleased with our wedding album- from the binding, thickness of pages, color of the print, and of course all the amazing pictures. You can not ask for better photographers. The pictures look amazing, of course. I love every single one of them and love how many of them I got! Quality and quantity! Also, another thing I want to point out is that how great Doug is before, during and after the wedding. I mean, (being honest here) I am a control freak and I wanted to make sure everything goes well - meaning my way. Doug gave me a piece of mind before and during the wedding because he was very professional, reliable and always there! so you know he is not missing anything. Danny and Doug were the best! They not only captured our day; they captured our personalities. The photos were amazing! Furious Photograhers receive my highest possible recommendation for engagement and wedding photography. My wife and I did our engagement session and wedding photography with them and are still showing our pictures off and having people comment on them two years later. Absolutely professional, fun and easy to work with, and extremely talented. Doug and Danny have the gift. I discovered them when I was looking for pictures of the venue that my wife and I were planning on having the reception at. There were a few pictures that really stood out from all the randomness that google provides in an image search. When I clicked on the pictures I discovered their site, and literally spent an hour and a half just looking at all of the awesome pictures they had. It was exactly the style and feel that my wife wanted in an engagement session, let alone for a wedding photographer. I contacted them and instantly received a response from Doug. We discussed where we lived (San Diego) and what kind of a shoot we were looking to do. He set the whole thing up and worked around what were very busy schedules (dual military). We met both Doug and Danny near the USS MIDWAY Museum in San Diego and have to say, the feeling was very comfortable right from the start. For someone who has never really done a photo shoot, being able to be comfortable and not feel awkward posing for pictures is a huge plus. Even though the session was only scheduled for a few hours, Doug and Danny were so committed to getting the job done righht that it never felt like it was on the clock and they went WAY over the allotted time. We had an online album to share with people very quickly and we were absolutely blown away. We shared the link and people couldn't believe that we were the ones in the photos because they looked like they belonged in a magazine. We immediately booked Doug and Danny for our wedding in San Diego. They took amazing photographs and captured some perfect moments that my wife and I will forever cherish.
