So, I've given Pizza Union three tries, and I'm still finding nothing overly remarkable here. It's a gorgeous place, and the servers are all friendly, but for the prices they charge and the quality of what you get, there's better Italian food, and especially pizza, elsewhere. I mean, I've tried three of their pizzas (usually a personal size), and similarly sized pizzas that I've ordered at a few local breweries were better, and less expensive. My wife got the penne ala vodka with grilled chicken, and it was basically penne with marinara sauce, very little cream, and hardly a hint of vodka. For the price they charge, we were expecting something better. We've had better versions of that dish at a few of the local pizzerias here in town. All in all, nice looking place, but considering the hype we haven't had anything there yet that's lived up to it. read more

My family and I decided to try out Pizza Union last minute, on a Saturday afternoon. The service was friendly and prompt, and the pizza was fantastic. Our children each had the kid's spaghetti and meatballs, which came in a very generous portion. My wife and I each went with the "design your own" pie. We were both looking for starter salads (which aren't on the menu), which seemed a bit odd. That being said, the pizza was plenty to fill us up. My only knock is that it's in a really odd location (in a strip mall, next to a vape shop). With all of the open space in OC, you would think that a better option was out there. Overall, we are a big thumbs up on Pizza Union. Definitely worth a try if you are in the area. read more

Cute ambiance and very good food. The restaurant is still working out a lot of service kinks which became apparent the moment we walked in. I am sure in the next 6 months they will be resolved once they have been up and running long enough. We first went to the bar. My husband had a very bitter Aperol Spritz which was not made/mixed correctly. I had a wonderful red wine from Sicily. Unfortunately the bar tender snarkily told me I "wasn't Italian enough to drink it", although we are very Italian! I am pretty sure he charged us incorrectly as well but I was hungry and wanted to get on with the night. We sat down to eat. We waited a while, the meatball app never showed. We got our mains and reminded the waitress of the meatballs so we ate everything at once instead. No water offered at the table. We each ordered more drinks at dinner which were forgotten. We ate our entire meal without a drink. I reminded the waitress again but we didn't get our drinks until we were done eating dinner. We asked the waitress about the Bloody Mary Bar advertisement on the menu and what that was all about. She didn't know, her answer was "sometimes the restaurant doesn't tell us these things", but said she would ask the bar tender. We never got an answer. We ate the Polpette, "In the Tin" salad and the Roman Nuts and Bolts pizza. Food was delicious! I would recommend take out until they figure out the service kinks. Pizza union is a spacious restaurant and you certainly wont feel crowded when dining here. I expected a larger draft selection, but at $4 drafts during happy hour, it's a bargain. Our waiter Eddie was attentive and fast. The food was excellent. We ordered guacamole, baked ziti and a calzoncino. The guac was fresh and the chips were fried to the perfect level of crunchy. The calzoncino was absolutely phenomenal. The mild sweetness of the shell complimented the ricotta and mozzarella perfectly. I'll definitely be back, this happy hour was a good experience. read more

Two of us went today for an early lunch on Super Bowl Sunday. They had a Super Bowl Special which was a cheese pie and order of wings for $20. This was our first time there so it was a good opportunity to try out a few things. The service was very good with a light crowd and very welcoming . First the wings came and they were excellent. The size were respectable and they were cooked perfect. The waiter explained the sauce very accurately and was amazing. Then the pizza came with the meatball topping that we added. The pizza was a big disappointment with no flavor whatsoever and the meatballs were the same bland taste. The pie was mostly cheese with very little sauce but had a good amount of tasteless meatballs. I used plenty of spices to try to help it out but it was lipstick on a pig. When you walk into a place like this you expect something better than a local pizza place but this was not the case. I get better pizza on the corner upstate which is not saying much. Everytime you go in the experience is different. Sometimes you get bread, other times you don't... And if you don't get bread the tables all around you will. Service is always slow and the past 2 times we went our waitress was super rude. My beer sat on the bar so long it got warm and I watched the bartender put a straw in the beer to give it a head again but, it really just bothered me he knew it wasn't the best pour after sitting ther and served it anyways. It was my Birthday celebration and we decided on Sunday Brunch here and made reservations for eight The food was ok but the service was horrible. The menu online for Sunday Brunch was not the same as what the restaurant provided and server Stephanie who claimed she was the manager (later found out she was NOT) would NOT honor something else in replacement. She indicated that owner is working with tech to make the necessary updates. My husband order a Bloody Mary thinking it was bottomless as well and it was not, the menu once again was NOT clear. It was one thing after another and I will never recommend or go back again. Oh BTW we were told we had to leave that the bartender cut us off, not sure why? Could it be that we were taking full advantage of the bottomless Mimosas that they do offer!!! We did spend over $400 so it's not like we didnt pay for it.. Strong pass. We had to ask for menus (bad sign). I watched them bring my daughters meal to the wrong table. The other costumers told the staff member that they didn't order it. The staff member left it anyways. I saw s the people poke at the food. A second staff member eventuality took it off their table and tried handing it to my daughter. This is the last time I will go there. Do not hand my child food that other costumers touch. Her food, not worth the wait. The staff is nice and not rude, but they don't have it together yet. Went for the the first time on a week night for an office party. It's nice inside with a big bar that is roomy for a crowd. Our server was very attentive and the food was delicious. Everything was served family style which worked out great. Our table table was crazy for the rolls that came with pesto dip sauce and an aioli. They couldn't get enough of it! The chicken Francese cut with a fork and the eggplant was perfectly cooked. There was a nice penne a la vodka with shaved parmesan. Don't be fooled by the warm, attractive interior of this place. Its a farce for a truly horrific dining experience. If you enjoy good pizza, Pizza Union experience can best be summed up by a quote from Dante, "All hope abandon, ye who enter here." Imagine globs of heavy, oily cheese on top of high rising, dry Bisquick dough. Pizza crust that rises so high and is so airy that it tastes like old, stale cotton balls.The crust is not crispy, but rather fluffy. Sauces are flavorless or overly sweet. The mushrooms are fresh from the can. Herbs and spices are foreign to the cooks here as they prefer seasoning their products with sugar. Not only was the pizza terrible, but the service horrendous. The waitress was slow and inattentive. Worse, they blasted the music so we couldn't even have a conversation. A mother with a child had to cover her kid's ears because the noise was making him cry. He cried louder when he tried the pizza. When we asked the waitress to lower the volume, it was still loud and uncomfortable. I have had really bad pizza, but this place takes the cake. Went here this afternoon for a late lunch. The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff was super friendly. We ordered entirely way too much food, but everything was so good! I wanted to try the pizza at this place because of all the hype - pizza awards/famous chef. Upon entering, I was told they don't do slices and would have to order a personal pie. I sat down and ordered... $11 for the smallest pie $2 each per topping. I didn't think the price was too unreasonable but it did set high expectations. When the pie comes out, I can tell all the ingredients are fresh but one. Sitting ontop of this beautiful looking pizza was CANNED MUSHROOMS - not cool Bruno. My new favorite place in town to eat by far!!! My mom and I had the best experience here. I've heard lots of good things about it and so my mom and I decided to try it on a Sunday around 12. First off, let me just say, this place is so so cute! I love the decor, both inside and out. Not gonna lie, totally not what I was expecting for being in Newburgh. Super cute. There was hardly any customers in there so we got seated right away. Bianca, our waitress, provided outstanding customer service. She gave us our menus, ordered our drinks with her friendly informative knowledge and was able to answer all the questions I had. I noticed they had gluten free options available, as well as vegan and vegetarian. I asked about the gluten free options and to my excitement, they have a gluten free 10 inch thin crust for the brick oven pizza! She said they also have some sort of gluten free pasta, as well as the salads obviously. So I decided to order the GF pizza with toppings of pepperoni, sausage and caramelized onions. Side note, I believe some of the normal pies are just sauce and cheese and then every topping you had is $2 extra. I was hungry, and I'm sort of used to that extra charge at some pizza places so it was fine with me. When I ordered my pizza, I asked for no cheese but if there was cheese in the sauce I was fine with having that. My mom ordered the 12" beast of burden pie. When our pizzas arrived, my moms pizza looked delicious and mine looked alright, I noticed my pizza came without sauce, just the crust and my toppings. I thought it was kind of interesting but I decided to try it. Since there was no sauce, it was dry and my toppings were falling off. When Bianca came back to check on us, I asked for a side of sauce, she said of course. When she came back she noticed there wasn't any sauce on my pizza and said she didn't notice it wasn't on there and if I wanted more, to which I said yes but I also feel bad cause this pizza was already made. She said don't worry about it! It only takes 5 minutes to make another in the brick oven, I want you to enjoy it. 5 minutes later she brought back a much better looking pizza. It was much much better with the sauce! I greatly appreciated Bianca's helpful attitude and service. She demonstrated exactly how great customer service should be. My moms pizza was delicious, I snuck a bite of hers and for me, it was one of the best pizzas I've had since being in New York. Also, they offered bottomless mimosas on Sunday which my mom ordered, and I opted for the typical beer with my pizza. This place is great! Its an strip mall with an unassuming exterior but inside the place has a nice industrial vibe. The food is all amazing. We've had the Roman pizza which is light and crisp with great toppings, we love the MELLOW MUSHROOM. Salads are really good, especially the Chopped salad. Last night our family ordered 4 different entrees to go and they were all amazing, better than the more established Italian restaurants in area. The CHICKEN VALDOSTANA, CHICKEN PARMIGIANA and FUSILLI MASSIMO were outstanding. The portion size is generous and we all had leftovers for the next day. Our waitress was lovely. However, supposedly they had issues with their air conditioning which caused SEWER FLIES to manifest. Once we received out food. My pasta with seafood was swarming in 5 SEWER FLIES. My husband, children, and I paid our $67 bill then left. I am disgusted after researching sewer flies. They carry infection. Not cool. This place is indeed a "hidden gem." The food here is amazing. Tonight we had the chopped salad, the roasted brussel sprout salad, lasagna balls and Beast of Burden pizza. Wow is all we can say. We are so worried about this place because when we have gone there it has not been crowded. It is not in the best location. It is in a small strip mall close to the Newburgh Mall. You should support this place and make sure that it survives. The food is just out of this world. My wife was remarking how much pizza we have eaten in our life. I realize things have been rough this past year,but I'm sure you can at least PRETEND to enjoy your job. I've been living here for upwards of 15 years and my quest for decent pizza continues. This OVERPRICED place is simply awful. The sauce on the pizza was disgusting and the pie was undercooked. After our initial visit during the first week of their soft opening went back yesterday for lunch again. The service definitely was much smoother and they appear to have worked out the kinks. My daughter and I each ordered a different pizza to try. She had the beast of burden and I had the nonna romana. Both came out hot and were quite tasty. The ingredients were fresh and well prepared. An overall good meal, reasonably priced. During our first visit on a Sunday they had a DJ who was entirely too loud for the size of the place and the fact that there is nothing to absorb the sound made having conversation difficult.With no DJ yesterday it was a great dining experience. Will definitely be back but not when the DJ is there which if is every Sunday will have me miss their Sunday brunch. read more

This is my absolute favorite pizza spot. The prices are a little on the high side, but the food is definitely worth the money. My favorite pizza here is the Nonna Roman, which I posted a picture below. If you are a meat lover you definitely have to try the Beast of Burden Pizza. A coworker said the pizza was good so we gave it a try. We had brick oven pizza and Roman pizza. We have had pizza in Rome so we know from experience what a Roman pizza is like. The pizza we got had no business being called Roman! The combination of flavors was great but the crust was so thick it's more like Little Caeser's than anything in Rome. We were hoping for good pizza on a delicious chewy crust. We got great toppings on thick bread. No thanks! The brick oven pizza was very dissapointing. There was so much cheese that the crust didn't finish baking. There were three layers to the pizza - bottom crust, cheese on top, and the middle layer of unbaked dough. We told the waitress so she had the cook put it back in the oven. It wasn't gone for more than 3-4 minutes so it was still raw when it came back. I've been looking forward to trying the place and stopped by about 9:30 on Saturday night. The staff was friendly and after looking over the menu and asking a couple of questions my friend and I ordered two pizzas. A few minutes after we ordered we were informed that there was no pizza dough. We decided to leave as we were looking forward to pizza. But Rich the manager caught up to us in the parking lot and asked us to order anything we like on him and was very apologetic. We went back in and had a great meal and experience. Rich and the sever Jayna went above and beyond to make up for running out of pizza dough. Rich managed to find some dough and offered us a pizza after we already started our entrees. We politely declined but he brought out a couple of slices for us to try and they were excellent. I will definitely return and I appreciate the staff going out of their way to make things right. read more
