I'm from VA, in town for work. I don't claim to be a sushi expert, but I have had sushi in a few high-end sushi spots along the west coast. I still prefer the basics, tho I have tried the unusual. Never had a bad experience here. The only problem I have is when you order crunchy rolls, there's too much crunch added to it. If they laid off a little bit on the pink crunch they add it would be better. Not sure what it's called. The salmon is great and also the tuna. Very delicious sushi. Lots of variety on the menu. Korean BBQ with beef or shrimp very yummy. The Ahi tuna taco appetizer is fabulous and the main reason we tried Fusion based on that appetizer recommendation. The service is adequate. Most of the staff seems generally annoyed. Got California rolls to go for lunch, and thought it was good! The employees were very friendly and accommodating. My friend ordered spicy scallop rolls on soy paper and she enjoyed. I will go here again. The place was pretty full, so that's also a good sign :) read more

The great news: the sushi is extraordinary. Some of the best I have ever had. It's fresh, delicious, and beautifully done. Consistently so. The not-great news: the service is so horribly slow and complacent that I've finally chosen to not return. On my last visit it took 30 minutes for my two basic maki rolls to arrive. The restaurant was half empty. I got updates from the disinterested server only when I flagged her down. I was standing up to leave when she finally brought my food. I don't expect well-prepared sushi to be instant. But each of my several visits there has been like this. I'll not repeat the experience. I hope yours is different. read more

I went to Fusion for the first time last night. The server was friendly and helpful. I disliked the food so much I was inclined to create a yelp account just to say so.... I ordered spicy tuna rolls, crispy eggplant, and the yellowtail jalapeño appetizer. Maybe my expectation was too high, but I was expecting the crispy eggplant to be fried (not battered) and not soggy. The sauce on it was something from a bad chinese restaurant....the yellowtail item was supposed to be served with ponzu sauce. This was not straight ponzu. It was a mix of some other generic asian sauce mixed it. The spicy tuna was covered with a generic unspicy sauce. I really wanted to like it. read more

Our first time in the restaurant was not too long after they first opened and was a horrible experience with poor sushi and a rude owner, so we had no desire to return. Tonight our friends wanted to give it a try and convinced us to go. There were four of us and we all had different dishes. Service was prompt and friendly, ambiance mediocre, and the restaurant was cold. The consensus was the food was cooked well (except for the fried calamari that was greasy), presentations were nice, but we all had the same criticism that the flavor just wasn't there. Have I had better sushi in my life? Yes. But that being said, Fusion still has very good sushi. When I went there I was very impressed with how busy and friendly the staff was with nearly everyone who walked in the door. It's a good sign when the owners/managers know most everyone's name who stops in. I have to be honest there was a hair in one piece of sushi which was a tad off putting but we pushed it aside and ate the rest. Overall the busyness would imply their ingredients stay fresh, they have good choices and it was pretty good. read more

My client told me about this place during her brow appointment. She raved about their rolls! Decided to bring my niece here yesterday. We were greeted and seated right away. It wasn't packed at all for a Sunday afternoon. There was just one small family having Pad Thai which smelled amazing! However l, I knew I wanted sushi. I ordered the "No Money No Honey" roll. I had heard such good things about this place so I decided to pick up some carry out to give it a try. I got 3 rolls and a dinner entrée. Sorry......but the sushi was not that good and poorly rolled. The entrée wasn't any good either....looked horrible , tasted so so and looked like it was made with frozen vegetables. When we opened the bag at home there were no chopsticks and not enough wasabi or ginger for the rolls. Very disappointing. read more

We were fans of Lisa when she created Umi Sake and followed her when she opened Fusion. It has been through a bit of an identity shift as they remove the liquor store aspect and convert to a dining room. The place is a delight. Have been there probably 30 times since they opened. Great happy hour!! Johnny's sushi is awesome. Virtually everything is great but I have 3 favorites: Ahi Tuna Taco, Seared Tuna on field greets and chips and Crabmeat dynamite. This was by far the worst service I have ever experienced in a restaurant. The manager was extremely pushy has very minimal, if any customer service skills. She was very rude and made me uncomfortable in the restaurant, so ultimately I left before my food was served.
