Once again. I'm not a customer nor would I recommend this company to anyone period. Their sales people are rude, aggressive, and very unprofessional! Came to my door 3 times even though I have the no soliciting and do not disturb signs posted on my door. The lady came to my door banging on my gate and rang my doorbell multiple times and when I opened the door I informed her politely that I was not interested and she proceeded to keep talking and then got loud after I told her the sign clearly states no soliciting. She then got rude and started to curse at me and talk under her breath and when I asked her what she said, she kept walking and talking. I not only filed a police report but I also contacted the better business bureau and my lawyer because this kind of behavior and harassment is unacceptable. I had been looking into Solar for a while had talked to a couple of different companies. I went with Future Energy Saver because they offered different types of setups and was not limited to one type. Our solar panels are installed with micro-inverters instead of the string inverter. It was more expensive but it's able to maximize my roof. They offer different financing options which is a plus. Installation only took one day and they were clean and fast. I only wished the process was faster start to finish but that was due to permits, inspection and SMUD which were out of their control. They were quick with the things that they could control. I was recommended by a friend and I would highly recommend them to anyone else. read more

My wife and I moved into our newly built home 11/07/17, and we wanted to see if we could purchase solar power before the year ended so we could take advantage of the Fed tax rebate. A visit came one evening as I was narrowing down the many companies/individuals that I had come across, a door to door contact working for Future Energy Savers Company came by who was very outgoing and pleasant. It was most fortuitous for me. Didn't have to begin the tedious process of interviewing a minimum of five companies. My contact with employees of F.E.S. From the door to door contact, the in home consultants, the installers, the handling of permit/s, their proper scheduling, timing appointment visits, excellent explaination and expectations of each step by step process were not only unique but most welcomed The employees were relaxed and enterprising. They all held F.E.S. In high regard. All of the above reassured us that we had picked the front runner of solar power installation companies. I forked over $1,000 down, 30% at presite and the rest upon completion. I was sold in that the company was family owned, nearly 40 years in business, and on their commitment to be 100% involved in the total process of Solar Power Installation, warranting and monitoring their unique product. No subcontracting, no passing the buck. The contact with each and every employee and the service they gave was 5 star. ...gave 4 because of the need to do my own monitoring of their warranty expectations and their monitoring services which are to come post installation. Till at least a few years go by, can't, in good conscience, release the fifth and final star. I had been thinking about getting solar ever since I bought my house. I learned about Future Solar at the Home & Landscape show. I now have solar on my roof and am thrilled. It is fun watching the meter run backwards during the day! Future Solar made the entire experience very easy, from start to finish. There are a several steps involved, and the friendly staff explained what to expect along the way to make sure there were no surprises. Dale reviewed my historical power usage, sized the system, and provided the estimate. He answered my many questions patiently. There was no pressure to make a purchase. Once I decided to move forward, Thomas came out to design the system. Meanwhile, Lisa helped with getting the financing in order. Kirk scheduled the installation and Wayde and Matt installed the system. They did a great job and even painted the pipes to make them match my house so they blend in. Mitchell prepped everything for the inspection. After that, SMUD came out to install the new meter, after which Future Solar walked me through turning on the system (they would have come out to do if I needed them to but it's easy). I know I'm missing others with whom I spoke; everyone is pleasant and helpful. All of the staff at Future Solar clearly know what they're doing; they are very efficient. They help the process move along without pushing. The inspection and SMUD meter installation took the longest. I am very happy with my choice. read more

We have been very satisfied with our 3k system. The loan and installation processes were quick and the customer service has been prompt and helpful. I usually get rid of door-to-door sales people quickly, but found the person at my door from Future Energy Savers to be knowledgeable and polite. Their knock at my door also came as I was already looking into going solar and taking advantage of the Solar Tax Credits that I was sure would be going away (and just did) with the new administration. From the initial door-knock, to the consultation, to the home evaluation, and installation they couldn't have been more professional. I'm looking forward to next summer to see how well it performs during the summer and my peak electrical usage. read more

First things first: my wife and I agreed to write this review in exchange for some promotional goodies offered by Future. That said, I'm going to do my best to provide the unvarnished truth. Last November, we were introduced to Future via a door-to-door salesman. Normally we turn the solar people away (often they seem a bit sketchy), but since we'd been considering going solar, this time we allowed them to send a sales rep to our home. The rep was really friendly (perhaps overly chummy, but fairly professional and likable) and showed us how much money we could save on our energy bill if we purchased a solar system. He proposed a deal where they would provide 15-year financing for a 6kW system, expected to produce 33kWh a day. The numbers worked out such that we would pay about the same amount of money as we currently pay to PG&E, except that instead of paying money to the electric company, we'd be paying off our loan, and after 15 years, we'd be paying effectively nothing for power (his actual proposal, written on a piece of yellow paper is at goo.gl/xfl35z). We agreed to the deal and Future promptly sent out installers to give us shiny new panels on our roof. For the most part, the installation went smoothly with some mild irritants, such as the piles of installation debris left scattered about the property. We did, however, run into a bit of a relationship challenge when we were asked to sign loan papers which stated in bold, "DO NOT SIGN THIS DOCUMENT UNLESS YOU ARE COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH THE INSTALLATION". How could we be satisfied with the installation when we didn't know how much power it was generating? From what we could observe, the system was generating 4kW at it's peak, not 6kW like they promised. My wife and I received near-daily calls from the manager. His position was that if we didn't sign right away, they would be unable to send the city inspectors out to sign off on the job. To us, it felt like they wanted their money ASAP. We asked for explanations about the discrepancy between the observed output and the promised output, and they didn't provide much in the way of specifics other than to assure us that the system was fine, and they'd keep an eye on the production, and if it wasn't meeting expectations, they'd come out and fix it by adding additional panels. I signed the paper, but was pretty annoyed that they didn't provide any concrete evidence that our system was up to snuff. I decided to do my own analysis. I measured the energy production of our system on a daily basis and compared it to other similar systems in our area. Based on historical data of the comparable systems, I projected that the system would produce more power in the summer (see graph at goo.gl/gRF950), so on average, the system probably would meet our expectations (details of the analyis are at goo.gl/uQHKJx). Looking at our net energy consumption over a year from a PG&E report, it's clear that the solar system is making a large impact (graph at goo.gl/SB34t1). Also, as evident from the daily charts, we're producing more energy than we're consuming in the day (see goo.gl/3JfQZR). Are we producing the promised 33kWh per day? On virtually all of the days, the answer is no, but on our best day we hit that number (see goo.gl/Ocs7tB). However, as previously mention, I expect that output should go up in the summer, so for now, we have a wait-and-see attitude. Another annoyance is that the sales guy told us we would benefit from "time of use" billing, where the higher-priced overproduction of energy during peak hours (where we get paid) would disproportionately offset the lower-priced consumption in off-peak hours (where we pay). When we switched to the solar billing with PG&E, time-of-use billing was not set up for us, and Future offered no assistance to help with that transition, which appears to be non-trivial. Overall I think Future is a decent company, but there is definitely room for improvement on customer treatment, communication, and support. At any rate, I'm thrilled that we're generating our own power. I'm giving them 3 stars, but am willing to bump that up if the system performs as expected and they prove that they're as customer-focused as they claim. read more

1 star is too good for this company. They have missed two appointments after "hounding" us to make sure we would be home, have our paperwork/numbers in order. We've changed schedules on our end both time to accommodate this company!!!! They didn't even call the first appointment they missed. The second appointment they call 2 hours before..."oh we won't be in the area". Yet, when I call back to complain...well, we can have someone in your area between 11:00-12:00pm. We meet with them and after a high pressure sales situation we did sign on for a 3 kw system for $23k. Add their financing at 9.99%. Thankfully we did not qualify for their financing. After thinking about it, I decided to pay for solar by taking a loan against my 401k. But I did my own research this time, called another company who is just down the street from them. Future Solar is way over priced. This other firm put a 4 kw system on our house for $14 k with American made panels. Very happy now, bigger system and $9k less. I just had the unfortunate experience of encountering a visit from their salesman who rang and knocked ferociously on my door. I had to tell the person four separate times I wasn't interested. He rudely spoke over me when I told them I wasn't interested and I had to raise my voice and tell him I wanted him to leave my doorstep immediately. You should be ashamed of allowing this kind of disrespectful soliciting at a persons private residence. The installation was done in 2 days although we were told it would only take 1 no big deal at least it's done. Then we had to wait for PG&E approval? which is what took the longest. I followed up with future solar time and time again but nothing. I ended up calling PG&E myself and getting a list of items that they were waiting for from Future Solar. I called future solar back and advised them of what PG&E was waiting for. After the information was sent our service was turned on. read more

Yelp shows ratings that are generally poor for this company, Future Energy Savers, and Yelp indicates the prices are somewhat higher for equivalent systems, but I want to have solar PV panels installed so I said yes to the door to door canvasing person and set up an appointment for the next day. As expected, one hour prior, the salesman (Dan) phones me to confirm the appointment and to confirm that my wife will be present. I had already told the first person that my wife would never be available to listen to a sales pitch but that I was truly interested in the system and the company. I explained that my wife was a busy executive who works in the electrical energy industry and she was very familiar with the solar panel systems, the technicalities, the advantages, the rebates, etc.. I didn't say it, but I was quite certain my wife knew more about the system that any salesman. Salesman Dan then tells me that he would not meet with me unless my wife was at the meeting. What kind of company operates like that? I had read on Yelp that others had a similar experience. I can only guess, but there is something weird about them having a mandatory requirement to have the spouse present for the sales pitch. Any one know why they have such a strict policy? Your guess is as good as mine, but I suspect it is just their approach to a hard sell. They want to close the deal on the first meeting. That should raise some red flags right there! Rather than post this Yelp with out further research, I phoned the company 916-686-3008, and asked one more time if I could get around this "wife at the meeting" policy. The Office Manager explained further that since the home was owned by both, contracts could not be signed by only one spouse, and since it was a big decision, both should be present to make such a big decision, and if financing was involved, both would need to sign those documents as well. I wouldn't trust a company that operates in such an unprofessional manner. They obviously don't want you to have time to think it over for a day or two. They want to close the deal, or at least get both home owners to commit to something by signing immediately the same day as you hear their pitch. I certainly wouldn't want to be subjected to their sales pitch on those terms. Several other Yelp posting show that people later realize they paid more than they should have for their systems. Other homeowners have said ( on their Yelp postings) that the salesman was rude after the homeowners refused to sign up on the spot! My recommendation to others is avoid putting yourself in a bad situation. There are more than enough qualified alternatives to this company. read more

My wife and I have discussed solar since buying the house last year. We had many questions but the companies that were quick to give information seemed to be more concerned with signing a contract and not directly answering our questions...until one day...when a Future Energy Rep came to our door and asked if we wanted more information on solar. We made the appointment and within the week a sales representative came to the door and gave a complete pitch about Future and what they can provide. I had my past SMUD bills ready for him he showed me how I could save money and build equity in my new house and receive tax credits. He was able to answer all of our questions and hesitations about getting solar on the house. The best selling point, THEY take care of ALL of the permits and arrange the inspections and the 30 year warranty panels! Within the week a representative came out to the house to evaluate our roof and where to place the panels. After they had the measurements and blueprints, they waited for the permits from the city. Within 2 weeks, the city approved the permits and they scheduled for the solar to be placed on the roof. The 3 installers were prompt on their show time and were professional. 2 guys prepped the roof and one worked on all of the wiring. The 3 of them seemed to work well together and within 4 hours, the panels were installed and I was generating my own electricity! The installers did a good job at hiding conduit and wires. My only complaint is they left sawdust piles and insulation mess in the house after getting access to the attic. Again, Future made the arrangements for the city inspector to inspect the system. They handle everything and it is very nice that I did not have to deal with a thing. It seems like there has been a seamless transition from all parties involved; the finance company, installers, inspectors and the electric company. I am very impressed. So far I am very happy with my decision to go solar and I am recommending to my friends and coworkers also look into it. read more

I was ambushed at the State Fair by two of their sales rep. I expressed slight interest in solar. After I had said NO LIKE 4 TIMES, He insisted... FINE! I give in. They called me while I was at work and I explained to him that he could come by, being that it's a free consultation and all. When he called me to give a courtesy call, I basically explained to him that it wouldn't be worth his while coming out, being that I have bigger fish to fry as far as repairs to do on my house before I start thinking about solar. Based on my impression of them at the state fair, I was not wanting to get solar from them anyway. After being on the phone with him for a while (Dude get the hint), the conversation ended in a way furthest from professionalism as could be imagined. First time I inquired, the person who came just stepped out of his prius and didnt even bother walking. He just yelled saying I got a big tree on my front yard and left in less than 5 minutes. Then after a few months they started calling me and when I said "We're not interested anymore", the rep kept insisting offers. Future Energy Savers presented a very convincing sales pitch about the quality of their solar systems and especially about the 25-year warranty on all the components. It was sold as a worry-free installation that would continue to provide electricity once the initial investment was recouped by lowered energy bills. This was fine until an inverter went out only six years after the system was installed. When I called for warranty service, I was shocked to discover that they wanted to charge me $325 for the service. Nowhere in the original sales pitch, company documentation, or my signed contract does it say anything about a fee for warranty service. In fact, one sales-pitch documentation specifies, "Solar Parts and Labor Warranty!" They're now trying to tell me that that statement referred to the original installation only! They have refused to acknowledge that this is misleading and unethical, and now refuse to provide warranty service without the payment of this fee every time they have to come out. I have a total of 34 warranted components on my system (17 panels and 17 inverters). The first went out after only six years, so if this continues, I will be looking at having to pay another $11,050 in service fees over the life of the warranty. Beware! read more

We recently added solar panels to our home within the last few months. The sales rep was very informative, and the process to install the panels went very smooth. They were here within a week to install and the installation only took them a few hours. Only having this for a few months I'm still trying to understand the bill, I'm a bit confused about it. Only problem I've had, is that I called them asking them to help me go over my pg&e bill so I can better understand it, but I have not received a phone call back yet. read more

My experience with Future Energy Savers started as a good experience. The first representative was very helpful and informative. He worked with my schedule by taking a weekend appointment and made the experience easy to follow. The installation was also very easy and painless, less than a month after I signed up they installed the solar panels and took care of all the needed paper work. However, I never received a final appointment explaining how the system works. I was in contact with a tech that wanted to schedule an appointment but told him my time of availability and never heard back from him. I did receive email correspondence from the main office explaining information, so hopefully that will be sufficient. read more

The process was quick and our panels were up and ready very fast! We've been pleased with the decision to go with Future because they seem upfront about their product and expectations regarding solar use. There is a local office and their team is very helpful. Got the sales pitch at the state fair and agreed to a free estimate. Scheduled a Saturday morning appointment between 08:00-10:00 (only day of the week one of us would be home). At 09:30 received call saying they were running late and would be there at 10:30. At 10:30 received a call saying they were going to be too late and wanted to schedule another day. When I said I'd wait, they then said they wouldn't come because at this point my wife was at work and we both had to be there. I explained this was the best possible day and we'd already cleared schedules. They refused to come. Will not do business with this company. read more

We were thinking about going solar when Dale happened to show up to ask if we were interested in solar. My wife made an appointment for the next week and he showed up on time and walked us through the process. The engineer called the next day and made an appointment to size our system. A few days later Dale called to make an appointment and walked us through what would happen next. 16 days later the work team showed up at 7:00 am and we were producing kilowatts by 11:00am. 12 Days later Matt showed up to walk us through the final sign off and give us copies of the City final inspection and answer any question about how to turn the solar power on or off. He explained the online monitoring system and how to use the monthly report to track SMUD's monthly report. We are very happy with the whole process. It was simple and easy. Our install team was great. Quick, clean and very efficient. Later in the day, on our install date, we noticed our AC wasn't working correctly when it had been up until that morning. We called Future Energy and they had one of their technicians was over early the next morning. They had accidentally cut a wire in our attic, which they fixed and also replaced a breaker in our original breaker box. We've had no problems since then of any sort and our SMUD bill has gone down considerably. However, since we financed our system, we are actually paying more than we would have if we would have just stuck with SMUD only, but we decided to go Solar because of future savings, once the system is paid off and also because it is a nice selling point if we were ever to sell our home. The only reason we are giving this company a lower star rating is because after talking to our tax preparer, after we had already had the system installed, it seems like the federal tax credit our salesman had told us about aka "the check" we would receive from the IRS is not exactly that. We will not receive a check for 30% of the contract price of our system, it is a 30% credit, which is rolled over to the next tax year if you are not able to receive the full credit with your first tax filing until you have received the full 30%. During our meeting with our sales man, we were told that we would get a check for 30% of the contract price from the Federal government when we filed our taxes and we would then use that check to lower our loan amount and our payment for our system would be even lower each month. We are set to do our taxes soon, if we do actually receive the full 30% back from the IRS, I will revise my review. I am ok with not getting "the check" from the IRS, because it was our responsibility to check the guidelines/fine print of the tax incentive before we signed a contract, but we trusted our salesman and the company. THIS is a MEET AND SIGN HERE meeting with only one intention... to have YOU SIGN on the BOTTOM line of their contract IMMEDIATELY! I was called by a woman name Katherine a couple of weeks ago a telemarketer from this company. I listened to her spiel, and told her I would get back with her if I was still interested after my daughter's wedding. After the wedding I talked with my husband about Future Energy calling and asked him what he thought about having them come and give me a quote, he agreed it sounded like a good idea. I called to set up an appointment for the next day (today) Wed the 9th of October 2013. She asked if my husband was going to be at the appointment. I told her "NO", he works in the Bay Area for The City of Palo Alto and our time is limited together. Our home is in the Foothills of the Sierra Nevada's he lives in the Bay Area during the week, we have only 8 days a month together and our time is valuable so we spend our short time wisely together. Katherine then told me that my husband has to present with the sales person in order to qualify for the special offers/rebates. I told her not possible. If you want to have us look at your product I will look at it, check out your company, share all the particulars with my husband and then I will make a decision. She set the appointment for noon today, 20 minutes before the appointment of their salesperson supposedly arriving at my home, I get a call from a woman with an attitude telling me they will not be coming because my husband was not in the home. I told this lady this is ridiculous and she ended this phone conversation by saying "too bad hopefully you won't find another company that only leases solar to you." I was livid, how dare they waste my time and be so disrespectful, so I called back Future Energy and ask to speak to someone in charge. I shared with her how upset I was and her reply was "Well they need both people there to sign the contract, both signatures on the contract." She got how upset I was and took my name to have someone call me back. WHO said this was contract time? When I talked with this company initially this was suppose to be AN INFORMATIONAL MEETING TO GIVE ME THE INFORMATION THAT I NEEDED TO MAKE AN EDUCATIONAL DECISION. We got solar through this company a few months ago, and it has all gone very smoothly. Their salesmen can be a bit pushy, but that's true of all the other solar companies we've had come by our house in the last 2 years. The actual service we got was excellent. We needed a whole new roof (we knew this when we bought the house), and we needed to upgrade our electrical panel if we ever want A/C (which we do), and we decided to just do it all at the same time. This company (Future Energy Savers) made that process easy, and everything happened very quickly and as expected. We are very pleased with the final results of our roof, the panel, and the solar. The system they put in on our roof seems to be just the right size for us. Our energy bills are down to nothing, and we're building a credit to use in the winter (when we'll presumably be generating less). From what I can tell, this will be just right, so we didn't get sold a system that was too big or too small. And I do like the online monitoring system so we can see exactly how much we're generating each day (or even each hour if we want). Everything from this company was very on-time and they explained the process to us all along the way. They made sure we did everything we needed to to get the permits done and everything. They seemed very knowledgeable and professional. All our questions were answered to our satisfaction. I really have no problem with this company or the service we got. I suspect the negative reviews were primarily based on the sales techniques. But as far as I can tell, these techniques are industry standard and not specific to this company. We have had a great experience with Future Energy Savers. They were very responsive and the system was fully installed within 8 days of signing the contract and within another week our electric company (Roseville Electric) had the system inspected and given us the permission to operate and the system was fully operational. The customer service is terrific. I have never had an issue reaching a person on the phone. All my questions are answered and they came out after the system was installed to show me how to operate and monitor the system if I want. Future Energy has one of the best warranties, 30 years for panels and workmanship including roof issues under the panels, and 25-years for the microinverters.They use high end SolarWorld Sunmodule Protect panels and Enphase microinverters. There is some bad information that the SunPower panels have 25 year warranties while the SolarWorld have 10 year, but the SolarWorld 10 year warranty is for cosmetic issues and discoloration which the SunPower panels don't have any warranty for at all. Future Energy was not the cheapest quote I got, but they offered the best warranty and had much better communication. I mainly got solar for the environmental reasons, but I am looking at a 23 year return on investment, which is less than the 30 year warranty and assuming that energy prices go up over time (inflation), the return on investment will be less. read more

Decided to go solar and Future Energy Savers turned out to be a good choice. After the decision was made things moved very quickly. We were kept informed and blown away by how quickly the installation happened. Every question we had was answered promptly and professionally. Rose provided us with the quote and the process went smoothly. She basically came out, called PG&E to obtain our usage for the last 12 months and $ amount we have been paying. Then, she determined how many panels we will need and the amount we pay each month for the financing basically equates to our monthly average usage. We also qualified for the tax rebate which is about 30% of the cost of the panels. For our family of 4, this made total sense. My lowest bill so far is $30 after being on the panels for a full a month when I normally pay $150 to $250 or more each month. The only thing I did not like is when one of their guys scheduled to go through paper work or final walkthrough, he did not show up and did not even bother to call. He did this twice. When I purchased my home, we had the opportunity to have Solar installed. I was told it was a small system that could be integrated into a bigger Solar system if I needed more panels. It was very tempting but I passed. As the summer months hit and my PG & E bills came, I knew I was in trouble. I have a 2 story, 3500 sqft home and was hitting $350 - $450 a month. I looked into Solar and had Solar city give me a call. They went over their options and again I decided to pass and wait. Well a guy from Future Energy Savers knocked on my door and gave me his song and dance. I tried to say no thank you, but he was persistent. Quite overbearing actually. I took the appointment to get him to stop talking! (Only complaint) As a home owner, when I AM ready, I'll let you know. I do understand the need to get out and pitch the product. Mitch came out and gave a wonderful pitch. What set FES apart from other companies in my mind was service and care given. I was big on American made and quality. I don't mind paying a little more for those two things as FES was a little more expensive than some of the other companies. My 1st bill came and it was around $5.00 for electricity. I am extremely pleased with that! Once the system is paid off it will feel like pure profit. read more

The whole process started with Mitch who was an excellent salesman. Extremely well informed and not pushy at all. We did a ground mount installation and the entire crew was friendly and did an excellent job. I really like the multiple follows ups these guys did to make sure the installation was perfect and complete along with explaining everything in detail to me.
