tofu and spinach on a plate

I've lived near this restaurant for as long as I can remember, but finally got to try it today. Definitely glad I did! Coming in, the decor and overall vibe was chill. Something you'd expect in a Thai restaurant with lots of dark wood and low lightning. We were seated quickly and given options on where we want to sit. Our server was very kind. Looking at the menu, we noticed that the items were pretty pricey. We ordered the jenga tofu, which came with a sweet and somewhat spicy sauce as our appetizer. It came out pretty quickly and tasted great! For our entree, my buddy ordered a pad Thai and I got the udon cashew noodles with pork. My entree was amazing! I have absolutely no complaints about it. The pork tasted great, veggies cookies well, noodles soft and flavorful, but the star of the dish was definitely the sauce. The sauce was soooo good.

Ordered takeout and was not disappointed. Our favor was the mango sticky rice! Tastes pretty authentic

I came here for dinner during a work holiday party and it was pretty good. The menu is quite extensive but it seemed like they didn't always have all the meats available because I tried to get the grilled lemongrass dish with prawns and they only had chicken. It was delicious regardless but I was surprised that they didn't carry a full menu during a 30 person reservation. Others at the table had noodles and curries and everything looked delicious. Good drink selection too!

Loved their sparkly chandelier! Picture really doesn't do it justice!

This place is consistently busy. There's indoor and outdoor seating. The building is a small house and has enough space for about 20-30 people inside. Probably another 20-30 if outdoor seating is available. You seat yourself or order from the front if hou are ordering takeout. Tables get cleaned immediately as soon as people leave. Service is quick and the workers are friendly. Their bánh mì đặc biệt (deluxe sandwich) and the cà phê sửa đá (iced condensed milk coffee) are my typical go-tos. The sandwich has layers of meat and portioned appropriately. The pâté adds a rich umami flavor and the Vietnamese bơ (mayo) gives it a buttery flavor. The veggies are always healthy and seem fresh. Also their jalapeños actually have a kick unlike most places I've been to. I recommend this staple to anyone looking for a solid Vietnamese sandwich in Tacoma. Great place to chill and have coffee to start your day. They have other foods like noodle soups, stews, and a rice plate. I haven't tried any of them, but it might be something I might look into in the future

It was crunchy and not too salty or bland. The ratio of scallion, seafood, and batter was perfect. They did not skimp out on the squid. The size of the squid was about one phalange. When I bit into the squid it was chewy, springy, and meaty. It's amazing to me how they managed to make the pancake crunchy despite filling it with so many ingredients. The kimchi and radish were super flavorful and not too spicy! Kimchi was sooo good. Even though the side dishes were limited, I enjoyed the freshness and taste. I also tried the samgyetang (Korean chicken soup) and bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) for the first time. The samgyetang was light and hearty. The broth could have been a bit sweeter. I probably wouldn't order this again though because I like more flavor. Though the bibim naengmyeon was too spicy for me, it was refreshing. The noodles were chewy and the cucumbers added a nice crunch.

It looks rough on the outside, but it is all heart on the inside. You can tell this restaurant has been well-loved in this neighborhood for years. I dug the community vibes and organized hustle and bustle atmosphere. We sat at the counter because it was a full house with many more customers waiting in line to get a table. I'm so glad we sat at the counter-- best seats in the house IMO because we got to chat with the friendly staff and get a close-up view of some entertaining behind the scenes action. I highly recommend the Combo Plate ("Cơm Thập Cẩm" that's comprised of roast duck, roasted pork, and BBQ pork over steamed rice with pickled veggies and their house sauce). Ohmygosh, what a treat!!! Everything tasted so good and the service was welcoming and efficient. It was a lot of food so I took about half of it to go. Including a stuffed sticky rice wrapped in banana leaf that was in a pile next to me and looked too irresistible for me not to take at least one home. This restaurant is a new favorite of mine in Tacoma. They informed me that a more fancy-looking and modern one is located in the South Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle. I plan to check it out one day. Hopefully, it'll be just as great as this OG one.

They play electro dance music and the TV just cycles between short clips of cities like Rio de Janiero. Nothing is particularly cohesive but service is very friendly and they show up where it counts, the food. Food: I'm an American born Chinese kid from California and the food here could go head to head with anything in San Diego or LA. The broth is clean and simple Chinese style soup, not too salty and perfectly reduced. They load the bowls with tons of protein and are very flexible with whatever combination of proteins you want. The cha sui is perfect with just the right amount of sweet glaze and a touch of char to keep it interesting. The roast pork has one of the crispiest skins I've had which you can just let soak in the broth to your desired consistency. The duck is moist, tender, and relatively meaty (sometimes restaurants source scrawny ducks which are mostly bone). The weakest part of dish is the which have that store-bought taste and could be fresher and slightly more al dente. Overall this some of the best Chinese BBQ I've had, as good as any major city I've been. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area!

Cooper's hosted one of our Porsche Club breakfast social events, and from start to finish this one was a 10. The food was on point throughout, and considering the size of our group, that's borderline remarkable. Breakfast at Cooper's is flavorful and excellent! Everyone came away impressed, which if you've ever tried to please a table full of hungry car enthusiasts, you know is not a given. Andrea led the service, and she was outstanding. This woman knows how to manage a large, hungry group! To perform this with that kind of calm efficiency is a real skill! The whole team reflected the same energy. They were all attentive, warm, and clearly proud of the place they work in. I can't say enough about the people here. The thoughtful touch that really stood out: Porsche-themed mimosas and breakfast spirits prepared specially for our event. That kind of detail is something a great hospitality team delivers. It set the tone for the whole morning. The space itself is immaculate and the decor is genuinely cool. Those of us who hadn't dined there before were genuinely impressed. Cleanliness here is a point of obvious pride. All in all, Cooper's is a destination for casual quality. Magnificent experience, start to finish, and I can't wait to return!

There were only a few tables inside but almost half of them were already occupied with several customers. I was quickly seated for a table of 1. I didn't mean to eavesdrop, but I did hear other customers comment at their tables that the food here is good. There's a few ajummas working here, so service was straightforward. I ordered the kalbi dolsot bibimbap, which seemed inexpensive and came with some complementary sides, and they were nice enough to cut my kalbi into bite-sized pieces for me. I would say, if I can finish my food in one sitting at a restaurant, I am either really hungry, satisfied, or both. In this case, it was both! This is my first dolsot bibimbap after moving to Washington recently, and I am glad it did not disappoint.
