Finding a mechanic is scary! I know nothing about cars. I had a blown head gasket on my Subaru Outback. I took it to the Subaru dealership in Huntington Beach, and they quoted me $8k to replace. I knew there would be a better price elsewhere. The next best thing I found was a new engine with less miles on it for $5k including labor. But considering my car was worth about $5k itself, I wanted a more reasonable quote. After tons of phone calls, hours of research, I somehow found juan on OfferUp. I recently moved to the area and found this hidden gem of a shop while driving around. What really intrigued me was the tons of beautiful custom sports cars and even a few exotics around the lot all being taken care of. As a car enthusiast. I'm very picky about which shop I take my cars to. However since these fellow gearhead car enthusiasts were trusting this shop to work on their cars, I figured I'd give this shop a try myself. I own an old vintage car that had sat for over a year of neglect. It needed a tune up badly, along with new custom suspension work and a fuel leak repair. Juan, the owner, certainly did not disappoint. Not only was he very transparent with his procedures and prices, but he is very precise and fast as well. He did a full diagnosis and listed out every issue with the car, even some issues I was unaware of. However he was not pushy with upselling different services and worked with my budget. There's a door that says office. Everyone was really friendly, and had great customer service. I didn't really wait long for someone to notice me. It's super convient for me as I can walk to and from this place. I thought the repairs would take longer so I went to downtown fullerton to grab lunch and before I could get home they were done. It probably took 30-45 mins. They even helped take a look at my car and answer a few questions I had. They explained what they can do, and how they can help with future repairs. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! First of all it took 10 months to complete an engine rebuild when he (I think his name is Juan. He is the son) told me it would take 2 weeks to complete. Hence the reason why I chose him in hopes of getting my car back fast. 4 months pass and was told he'd work on it on Saturday's as a "project". However, I paid him in full at the beginning as a regular customer. I had to constantly ask him for updates and he would give me excuses to brush me off. He Told me I needed a new ECU due to supposedly cam sensor issues. I bought another ECU like he asked and same thing. He said he had a Subaru technician that he works with come down and look at it but found nothing. So I bought another one like an idiot. After the same issues and many excuses I got over it and According to him the car was complete and ready for pickup. The only issue was the ECU as he stated. So I took the car to be tuned hoping everything was good. First thing the tuner says is it's missing a cam sensor. This guy made me waste my time and money because he couldn't do his job correctly. OOH & also he installed my shifter backwards or upside down, I could not put my car in reverse or 5th gear. I gave him my car with a access port and never got one back, along with the first ECU I bought. There was so many other issues and inconveniences! I had to fix a lot of his fuckups.
