It's always a shame when the food is CLEARLY frozen. It's an adorable location. The staff was great. None of this is their fault. Entrees? Flavorless. Textures? So obviously frozen. If I wanted frozen chicken, I'd cook my own. Street corn? Fine... though with clumps of spice throughout, very poorly mixed. Just a real shame. In a location like this, there is no excuse for this.

We stopped by Old Towne OC around 10 a.m. to walk around, and a few places we originally planned to visit were still closed. Then we unexpectedly came across this super popular restaurant! The crowd alone caught our attention, so we decided to give it a try -- and I'm glad we did. Atmosphere: The moment we walked in, the vibe immediately stood out. It has a charming vintage feel, with beautiful natural sunlight pouring in, making the whole space warm and cozy. Perfect for a relaxing weekend brunch or a casual meal with family and kids. Here are the dishes we highly recommend: Guacamole & Chips Absolutely addictive. The guacamole was fresh, creamy, and packed with flavor. We couldn't stop eating it. Steak Plate The steak was cooked perfectly tender, and the juicy corn underneath soaked up all the delicious flavors. Every bite felt satisfying. Pulled Pork Tacos Super authentic Mexican-style tacos with rich layers of flavor. The combination of refried beans and avocado sauce made them even better. A few small notes: The restaurant was extremely busy, so the staff seemed a little overwhelmed at times. Service was okay overall, but understandable considering how packed it was. Coffee lovers: Their coffee leaned a bit on the sweeter side for us, so if you prefer less sweetness, it's worth mentioning when ordering. Overall, such a fun and lively brunch spot in Old Towne OC. Definitely worth trying if you're in the area!

Came to this gem as a recommendation and I will say the ambiance of this place was so relaxing and inviting. The service from our server Danny was above and beyond. He gave us recommendations on drinks and food and whatever things to try. As per usual I went for it all. The asada tacos, salsa and chips, guacamole, and of course dessert of chocolate churros with ice cream were a hit! If you're in the area of Orange County, you should definitely come in and try for yourself. You won't be disappointed!

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Gabbi's. Came on a weekday and had no difficulty being seated. Great drinks, I especially liked my Jalapeño Pepino Margarita (yes, it packs a bit of a spicy punch). Our guacamole serving for starters, freshly made, was very large. And yet, we ate it all. I had the pozole for dinner which I haven't had in ages. The photo doesn't lie, the broth was very dark and mysterious. What lurked in the depths of my soup bowl? Only delicious pieces of clams on the shell, shrimp, red fish and hominy. Delicious! Very much recommended.

TLDR: drinks were fine, street corn was fine, nothing else was. No sign, bad mains, MIA mgmt. This was a genuine disappointment, but I should have listened to my gut when they said they can't make guacamole without onion because his words "it's premade" not we make a large batch every day, it's premade he said. I hoped it was just a miscommunication, but then the main courses came out and wow, premade and heated up for us is what I think we got. The chicken enchiladas...the chicken was bland and tasted like it was prepared long ago, not anywhere within an hour of our arrival at the restaurant. I guess that's why they couldn't switch the protein in the enchiladas to steak, it likely was previously assembled and heated up. I know restaurants are struggling with inflation, but screwing over your customers with subpar food isn't the answer and will lead to a restaurant closing. Wait staff was friendly, but slow. Management MIA. Still tipped the waiter well, but I feel kinda swindled by these guys. No sign outside either and the hostess joked that they're famous for not having a sign. Looking at the sad state of my dinnerware, I'm starting to suspect they're just cheap.

Came here w my girls for drinks and they delivered great service. We sat out on the patio area and one of their employees, thank god, brought us a heater and got our order in quick. The dim lighting and lively conversations were the perfect vibe. Eventually I want to return to try the food

    Camarones en Mole Verde

Gabbi's served delicious, fresh, high quality Mexican food and cocktails! We had 12 people in our group and everyone loved their meals. I've never had green mole, so I was curious to try the Camarones con Mole Verde. The mole was savory, the shrimp were juicy, and the veggies crisp. Their cocktail menu had several interesting options, but since I was driving I couldn't have too many. I love Mezcal so I had to try the Tamarindo con Chile, and I am happy that I did! It had a nice blend of heat and smokiness, and I really liked that it wasn't overpowered by sweetness. Their michelada was great too. The restaurant had a great atmosphere and the staff were friendly and attentive. I'll definitely come back!

This is a really nice smaller restaurant right near the Orange circle. The elote was super tasty and would have really been too much by itself but as a garnish on top of my enchiladas, it was fabulous! I mixed it with my rice and with the beans. It was the 'secret sauce' for everything. The ambiance was perfect and the size of the restaurant was just right. It's hard to find because there doesn't appear to be a sign so look out for the hanging baskets/hats. Highly recommend Gabbi's!

Authentic Mexican cuisine upscale restaurant, interior is nicely decorated with good ambience. We ordered salsa chips and guacamole to start, the server refilled our chips, the salsa tasted great and it was so good we ate too much and actually filled us up before our main entrees came haha! The only down side is the parking really is abit of a nightmare here in old town. There's parking on the back but it's nearly impossible to get a space during weekend, so I really suggest parking a few blocks away and just walk here.

Used to be my favorite spot in the circle. But I think it's quality and variety has feminist, at least during lunch service. Hace not been here Ina. Long while for dinner. But have gone to it's sister restaurant down in Santa Ana and prefer it. Staff is friendly and the space is cheerful. Haven't changed since it opened a while back.

One of the best restaurants I've been to in a while. The food and service were amazing. The place is beautiful, the parking was a bit of inconvenience. My mom just had surgery and we asked if we could go through the back door to limit her walking and they weren't very accommodating so we went around but worth the walk. The salsa was soo good!!! I wish it was closer to me

We were here for a Friday night dinner for a party of six. They were able to sit us on the patio/sidewalk and it was spacious. Their margaritas are so good. They have a kids menu too with rice and bean burritos or quesadillas. Our server was attentive and checked in at the right times.

We came here recently as it's someone we know's favorite place. The vibe was nice because it was in downtown Orange and it was bustling. We came around 3:30 and all of our party hadn't arrived so we ended up being late enough for the dinner menu which starts at 4. One of my favorite things about this place was the chips and salsa. The chips were sturdy and the salsa had a very nice flavor (without much spice). I ordered the beef taquitos con salsa verde and my son had a kids cheese enchilada. Both orders were fine, honestly not the most special Mexican food I've had but not terrible. The waitstaff was very patient with us since our full party took a long time to arrive and they were so on it with refills and asking if everything was good. All in all the ambiance was nice but for my tastebuds I just wasn't blown away (nor super disappointed) in the food.

When making reservations a $25 deposit is required per person but will be applied to your bill day of visit. The hostess was very kind upon check in and took us to the back where the 46 door is. She provided us a code and explained the time limit along with house rules. We were then told to knock on the door and proceed with the experience. Kudos to the owner as this is the only speakeasy in the OC that has a true speakeasy feel entrance. They had a gentleman open the peephole and ask for the entry code. Once we said the code we entered a really cool mine shaft area. The attention to detail was on point and I was impressed! We were then taken upstairs to a private bar where there are four tables of four so a max of 16. This makes sense as to why reservations are hard to come by. The only ding about seating is you are sat with strangers it is not a private table. Luckily we had a fun older couple at our table so it made the conversation more lively. Otherwise don't go here with an expectation of an intimate/ private date night. They also offer a limited food menu but looked very promising. However, we were here for a night cap so just dabbled in drinks. The bartender had a seasonal menu of 4 cocktails he created. He explained the drinks and then had us try each one with a straw. We then placed our order based on what we liked. He did say if we were not a fan he could create us our own personal cocktail as well. The old fashion he created was phenomenal! Overall, a cool little spot in the OC. Do wish they were open later as they do close at 11pm on Friday and Saturday.

The restaurant was dark and stylish, and I immediately liked the vibe. Even though it was crowded for a Thursday night, we were seated within 15 minutes. We each picked a shareable dish to split. Predictably, my daughter chose the mac and cheese. I rolled my eyes -- it's so her -- but it turned out to be the best of the four. Maybe it was the velvety cheese sauce or the golden cracker crust that made it so irresistible, but that mac and cheese was, as she'd say, absolutely bussin'. The next standout was the maple-buttered Brussels sprouts, my man's pick. If all vegetables tasted this good, I'd eat them every day. Candied pecans, maple butter, blue cheese -- how could that not be amazing? Was it healthy? Sus, but definitely worth it. I picked the pig candy for the group, which was outrageously sweet and candy-like. Clearly, this wasn't healthy -- bacon, sugar, and rye whiskey caramel make a trifecta of indulgence. But it was so delicious, I couldn't complain. The sliders were the last shareable we tried. They were fine but didn't stand out -- the meat was a bit dry. I also ordered a cocktail (something pretty and fruity, though I can't remember the name). The bartender nailed it, delivering a delicious drink. My man enjoyed his Negroni. The service was great, and I loved the grassy area with fire pits for hanging out. Excellent place for our first night out in Irvine!

You can make reservations on Yelp, and there is also a Yelp live wait list. We visited during happy hour (Tuesday thru Friday from 4pm to 6pm) to take advantage of their food specials. We had the coconut shrimp ($12, but $7 during happy hour) which are always good. We also had some fries ($7, but $5 during happy hour). They were good and a generous portion. She wanted to try the vegan (cauliflower) salt & vinegar wings ($14, but $9 during happy hour). They were breaded and fried well, but had very little flavor. There was just a light sprinkle of a salt & vinegar seasoning. More salt and a dash of malt vinegar on them, or a side of malt vinegar would have made them a lot better. The happy hour food was a good value and got something in our stomachs. My first cocktail was the Wilderness Badge (Tequila, Lemongrass, Basil, Bergamot, Lemon, $17). This was by far my favorite. I love Italicus liqueur and this drink had great bergamot flavor up front with a light basil flavor from the basil infused tequila. It was very balanced and I would have never guessed this was a tequila based cocktail. She started out with the Sasquatch Sighting (Jamacian Overproof Rum, Cynar, Mango, Molasses, Lime, $17). This was balanced, with a light bitterness and light sweetness with mango flavor. Next, I tried The Lost Camper (Demerara Rum, Thai Green Tea, Pineapple, Coconut, Lime, $16). It was a pineapple bomb with a hint of coconut. I didn't like it at all and actually sent it back. I did think the skeleton arm and hand swizzle stick was cool. It is served with the hand at the bottom, but I took the picture with it sticking out. Instead, I had the Black Sands from the regular cocktail menu (Bali Hai Pineapple Rum, Diplomatica Reserve Rum, Pineapple, Orange, Guava, Lime, Coco, charcoal, $18). It is served with a flaming lime and sugar cube. I've had this several times and love it. It has a great funky complex flavor. Next, she had the Naked & Afraid (Mezcal, Campari, Smoked Pineapple, Serrano, Passionfruit, Lemon, $17). This was really good with a great complex mix of smoke and bitterness with a little heat. She gulped it down, and I was lucky to get a few sips. We decided to share the last new cocktail, the Scouts Honor (Vokda, Peach, Mandarin, Orgeat, Lime, $16) so we could say we tried them all. It looks nice with a bright orange color, but it was very sweet and peach forward with a hint of orange. Our server Crystal was great, very friendly and provided great service. We started collecting mugs recently, and we bought the Belly of the Beast Monstro mug ($62) to take home. BOTB is their Pinocchio themed speakeasy in the back (separate reservation required). They also have several other Stowaway branded mugs available. This visit was definitely better than our last few. As far as the five new Summer Camp cocktails, two were excellent, one was good, one was ok, and one was not good. The food was good, and is a great value during happy hour.

It was reasonably priced and came with a glass of sparkling wine that you can enhance with a blue liquid (I believe it's a butterfly tea syrup) to change the color into a beautiful purple hue. The tea served is Tea Forte tea bags, rather than loose leaf teas. They do have the typical tea sandwiches, but there are also additional savory items like a cheese pinwheel and a cheese skewer. In addition to the scone and biscuit, they also had danishes and fruit. Wish they had cream for the scones, but they had jam and butter. This fat pastry was the best beignet I've ever had, so pillowy soft! Come here for a great meal surrounded by a cool, train-themed atmosphere.

He made us feel welcomed as it was our first time coming here. By we I mean my self and three friends as well. He took our orders mentally. That was impressive! And got every order correct. He knew his menu items. I ordered a hot coffee (refills available) and the garden omelette. Instead of their bakery it's chi ie of beignets or a muffin, I opted for sourdough toast. Delicious! I took some leftovers home. For what I paid for it, I think it was reasonably priced. We did come for breakfast. Around this time it's not overly packed and we came on memorial weekend. As we headed out close to noon, lunch hour is where people will begin to pour in. We saw trains pass by periodically but it wasn't bothersome. I can't wait to come back.

Surprisingly, I've never been to a speakeasy locally (only when traveling!) and this experience…read moregenuinely made me feel like I was somewhere far away. The space is hidden and intimate, and once you're inside, it really does feel exclusive in the best way. It adds to the whole experience and makes it feel like a true escape. The food was fresh and thoughtfully prepared, and they were also accommodating with our dietary restrictions, which I really appreciated. Overall, such a fun and memorable night. Definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time -- it's a small space with only 30 spots and fills up quickly.

Not sure if reservations are required, but this speakeasy is pretty tiny so I can't imagine it can accommodate walk ins. We had a reservation for 8pm on a Friday night. The door is very well hidden, I thought it'd be in a basement around the corner or something. The space is really small, so big groups are not advised. I had the niña fresa, a strawberries and creme type drink. Delicious! If you like sweet drinks, otherwise do not get it. I had the Saturn afterwards. Still a little sweet, but mostly sour. The server came by to say that we only had 25 min left, so we hurriedly ordered a last drink. But when he delivered it, it magically became 5 min! I chugged my drink and was ushered out the door. Overall it was pretty nice but I didn't enjoy having to rush at the very end.
