Gabbi's is amazing!! I went for dinner and was immediately seated, unfortunately it was outside though and I was looking forward to the ambiance on the inside of the restaurant. Even though it was outside my server came very quickly and he was super nice and attentive. I ordered the Gorditas al pastor and they were SO good! There were so many different flavors and I think the pinapple really added to it. I haven't been to a restraunt in a very long time that genuinely surprised me with how much flavor was in their dishes. I will definitely be coming back. read more

Came here with 5 people for lunch and the service and food were great! What a beautiful restaurant. First of all, their chips, salsa and added guacamole ($15) were so good! For our starter we had the taquitos, which were huge and had a good amount of shredded meat inside. I opted for their chicken enchiladas, and this came with 2 packed enchiladas, garlic rice which was so good and really delicious black beans. YUM! Filling dish but worth it ($23). Really disappointing visit this evening. It started up strong with good recommendations, and decent service pace, but after the food was delivered, we got one check back from our server when I ordered another glass of wine. 20 minutes later, we had empty water glasses, and still no sign of the additional glass of wine. My wife's drink was empty for at least that long. After no sign of the server, I got up and went to the host stand and asked them for a check and let them know that our server was MIA. They seemed like they had a sense of urgency, but it took another eight minutes for someone to visit our table with the check... And it still had the glass of wine that never came on it. I let him know, and also that we wanted to bag up some of our food... The new server went away, and after another five minutes, the other server came back with the bag and the check fixed. No manager visit the entire evening, even after we let the host know that we were having a bad experience. All said and done... $145 pre-tip feels like you should be able to expect a little bit higher level of service. read more

I had such an amazing experience here last night. It wasn't my first time, but I was so excited to be back because I'm such a huge fan. The salsa is so delicious I could literally drink it. Everything tastes incredibly fresh and thoughtfully executed. My chicken was tender, juicy, and cooked perfectly. You can really taste the quality in every dish. We also had such a friendly waiter who made the whole experience even better. The architecture and interior design are beautiful, and the cocktails were phenomenal. Gorditas Al Pastor!!!!!! That's the must have if you come here. I grew up on my grandmothers Gorditas and I love the version they did at Gabbis. You won't have it anywhere else. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! So yummy and flavorful! Started off with an appetizer of Tlacoyo de Aguacate and it was such a fusion of flavor! Never tried anything like it, must try! Very light and refreshing. Our main courses were also wonderful. The enchiladas de flor de calabaza was unlike any enchiladas I've had. The sauce had a nice kick to it and the filling was also light and great texture wrapped with the handmade fluffy corn tortilla. Sooo good!! The carnitas and mole enchiladas were also phenomenal. The plantains added to the mole plate was a sweet little dessert for the end of my meal. Can't recommend this place enough! Also the servers were all super friendly and told me the owner is from Yucatán region of Mexico and many of the dishes and flavors are inspired from their regional cuisine! My boyfriend found this hidden gem for our first date in 2017, we've been back a few times over the years and Gabbi's Kitchen never disappoints. Gabbi's checks every box, food - service - ambiance. Found this when exploring Orange Old Town Circle. I thought the salsa verde was fantastic! The roasted tomatillo gives it a slight smokiness that makes it so unique. Everything else tasted really good including my passion fruit margarita. Staff was very cordial. I like the unique design of the restaurant, with glass decor on the walls. The service was superior and which complimented the food. The portions of the meals could be better, but taste made up for it, like their addictive guacamole and chips. Though their meat on the tacos could cut back on the salt it was overall really good and satisfied my first impression of the place. Will definitely come again and expand my interest in their menu. My espresso martini was bomb, causing me to eagerly order more. I'm a bit disappointed in their dessert menu as for a Mexican restaurant I was expecting more tradition options like flan. We had a party of 6 and had a cute round table near the front of the restaurant. First off we sat for a solid 10 minutes when we got sat waiting for service. We ordered guacamole so they brought, chips, guac and one salsa for 6 people. We had to ask for more salsa. Kind of clueless. With that said the salsa was excellent, I loved the roasted garlic flavor. The food was good, it didn't blow me away but everything was solid. I personally had the seafood pozole verde which was bright, fresh and spicy. Ample shrimp, fish cubes, clams and pozole filled the bowl. They need to chop the cilantro, the bowl was full of huge clumps of cilantro like baby trees in my soup. Also a couple of Tortillas on the side would have been nice to cut the citrus and spice. Wifey had taquitos which looked beautiful but the beef was extra smoky and took over the dish. Dessert was churros which stole the show and they serve their coffee as a French press which was excellent. Halfway through our meal the clueless hostess at the front pulled up the shade like the sun had gone down and literally blinded us and then pretended not to notice. We had to get another waiter to tell and busser to close it again which took several minutes. It definitely left a bad taste. Service was just ok, they def could step up their game. read more

Gabbi's Mexican Kitchen, located in Old Towne Orange, is probably my favorite place to eat in the area. It's mentioned in the Michelin guide and they have upscale Mexican food. You can't miss anything made with their masa. My strategy is typically to get a Margarita - I went with Passion Fruit - and a few appetizers. Their Al Pastor Gorditas are a show stopper. My wife really enjoyed the carnitas, which was served with rice and beans and warm corn tortillas. Their tacos are also good - I'd recommend the corn tortillas. While pricey, you get high quality here. If you like this place, their sister restaurant Chaak Kitchen is also amazing. read more

Eh...not a fan. Overpriced Mexican food with lack luster service. We went on around lunch on Saturday and it was not busy. That should have been my first clue. The hostess was nice and she quickly seated us. Our waiter was not so good. After he introduced himself he seemed to have disappeared after that? I had to ask another waitress to take our order because ours never came back to do so. Someone else also brought out our food. Towards the end of our meal I had to ask the hostess to bring us the check since again the waiter we had wasn't coming over and checking on our table. Anyways the food itself is very flavorful but the portions are small and it's overpriced. I don't think I'd come back here or recommend it. read more

What a disappointment! It started out great -- the host was super nice. He chatted with my son and his friend about their soccer game (they were still in their uniforms) while he got our table ready. Once we sat down, the water came quickly -- and then we sat, and sat, and sat. In hindsight, we probably should have just gotten up and left, but I really wanted to try the food here. Finally, we waved down a waiter who wasn't even ours to order some drinks. I used to waitress in Las Vegas -- rule #1: get a drink in front of your customers, and they'll happily wait while you're in the weeds. But again, we waited and waited and waited. Eventually, we waved down another server to take our order. He sent our actual waitress over with our drinks 20 minutes later, and with no apology, she took our order. You guessed it -- we waited and waited and waited... Please note, it was past 2 p.m., well after the lunch rush, and the restaurant wasn't that busy. Lunch should not have been a two-hour ordeal. The food was okay -- nothing special -- and they got my son's order wrong. The hot sauce for the tacos arrived only after my husband had already finished eating them. My only positive comment: my Paloma was delicious, and I was thankful for it getting me through an otherwise terrible experience. There are plenty of other great spots to eat at in the Orange Circle -- I'd avoid this one. read more

With its unlabeled building right off the street you would think it would go unnoticed but it is always lively inside with a great smell of food. Traditionally I have ordered the shrimp and the enchiladas here but everything that I have had has been amazing. I would recommend a reservation and for this to be a date night. The ambiance here is outstanding! It's like another world when you walk into the restaurant with fans going, dim lights and a huge high ceilings. The kitchen is open so you can see what's happening. They make the tortillas to order! Which was so cool to watch. I took a video of the flat top the tortillas are made on. They make corn and flour. I had the carnitas tacos on corn tortillas. So good! Fortunately one of our dining friends shared with me one of their tacos. So I was able to have a carne asada taco and a carnitas taco. One flour and one corn. They do not do any substitutions here! Each taco was delicious. The carnitas had a crispy crust served with avocado and radish slices. The carne asada was slightly smoky with a pico de gallo on it. Little spicy with a few cubes of jalapeño. For the table we shared the corn. Definitely had a kick! I had a house margarita that was definitely hand made and not a mix. I came here with a friend for his birthday. He had picked this place out. They don't have a sign up front. It is a brick building with a black awning. We had reservations at 7pm and we arrived around 6:40pm. They let us be seated right when we arrived, which was nice. We got a small two person table close to the bar. There was a partition for some privacy and it made the place seem less crowded even though it was packed. The ambiance is very dark and sort of ominous, but it doesn't take away from the great food and service. To start we both got the guava aguas frescas which were super refreshing and delicious. It reminded me of the passion orange guava juice from Hawaii. We both got the chicken mole enchiladas for our entree. The mole was rich, but not too thick and the chicken inside the enchiladas was shredded and tender. I loved the rice and sweet plantains, they made great side dishes. We had to have dessert. My friend chose the lemon dulce de leche cake. The presentation was beautiful. Dulce de leche is known to be very rich and sweet, but the addition of lemon cut right through that. Was perusing Orange Circle on a Saturday afternoon and ended up stopping into Gabbi's for a quick lunch. It was right before noon and surprisingly not too busy yet. We were seated right away towards the back of the restaurant. I just say this is a gorgeous restaurant. The decor is a 10/10. We didn't want to eat anything too heavy, so we shared the watermelon salad and shrimp enchiladas. The watermelon salad was good, nothing too special. The shrimp enchiladas were absolutely delicious. The highlight of our lunch were the chips and salsa though. Chips were fried fresh and salsa perfectly spicy. Would recommend for a nice date out! read more
