He checked in with me daily to explain what work was being done, answer questions, and offer suggestions for design improvements and additional repairs. The only concern I had was with some exposed rebar in the hot tub that, in my opinion, should have been replaced rather than patched over. The project failed its first city inspection due to a mechanical code violation (venting exhaust straight into the attic). Furthermore, the contractor under-reported our $24,331 contract to the City of Imperial Beach on the permit valuation as only $3,786.75 (an 84% discrepancy). We have fulfilled 100% of our financial obligations to close out the contract, but an active investigation has been requested with the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB Complaint #S F 2025016199) regarding their permit reporting and management practices. Proceed with extreme caution.
