Great local pub, actually it's really big. I was here in afternoon so I can only attest to the day crowd. Bartenders very friendly. Sausage rolls, good. Not rolls but more like baklava pastry and shape. Sausage seasoned great. As u may know my roots r English, transplant lol. Great drinks, and bartender took out bowl of water in the patio for guest w dog. Patio is smoking, just so smokers and non smokers know. Bit to worry plenty room inside. As a 49er fan, I was so excited to find this bar a couple of years ago. The owner seemed really cool, loved how they reserved seats for 9er fans too! Then one day, I went to the bar & the blonde bimbo behind the bar yelled at me when I asked for chips and salsa, stating "this isn't a MEXICAN BAR, this is an Irish Pub, our chips are fries!" And then she stormed off. When she returned, I pointed to my corona and the Made in Mexico print on the bottle and said, "at least you serve corona!" At that point, she screamed at me again, "what the f*ck is your problem!?" I had mozzarella sticks ordered already and she disappeared to the kitchen during a busy time at the bar for nearly 10 minutes! She then returned with my order with a devilish smirk on her face. I was born in the morning sweetheart, just not yesterday morning! There was no way I was touching that food, cause I knew she tampered with it. As I let it sit there, she noticed and asked me why I hadn't touched them. I told her I lost my appetite and she said, "Oh, that's too bad." I have never stepped foot in that bar since. This is Long Beach, we are all supposed to get along, no matter your Race, gender or sexuality. But this CUNexTuesday obviously doesn't have that same mindset. I stopped in after work at about 3 o'clock today, and there seemed to be a shift change from a man to a woman. The lady started talking about the Barbie movie and randomly and unprovoked went on a tangent about republican, conservative men. I am not a Republican, nor am I a conservative, but the ignorant words that were coming out of this bartenders mouth were incredibly offensive. I like going to this place on my way home from work, but do not think I will ever go back. I feel like there should not be talk about politics or God at a bar, especially from the Bartender who is supposed to be offering a good time. Seriously? Seriously! Best burger I've had in a long time! I went with friends on Tuesday 2x1 burger night. The gist is (cuz it was confusing at first) you pick any burger you want and your second burger which can be any style you want for FREE! Any sides like fries or onion rings are extra $ for the #2 burger. Each burger was fat, piled high with burger goodies and oh so tasty! Shepard fries are delicious too! It's Irish-cut (aka steak-cut) fries drenched in Shepard pie (ground beef, peas, & carrot stew) with cheese! I would definitely come back again. They offer a great selections of beers. But since I'm not a beer guzzler, I had the ciders in Pear, Peach and Apple! *hiccup* Service was ok. The waitress was nice and friendly but she kept forgetting to bring me a box. Apparently it's against their policy for take-out. My left over fries sat on my plate for over 15 mins getting cold and lonely. Finally I gave up and just ate it. The decor was darkly lit and tons of Irish memorabilia. I liked the pillars that look like tree trunks with cute little seats attached! Come for the food and stay for the beer! World cup here was awesome with high definition TV's everywhere: be forewarned though, the one immediately on the right when you enter had its High Def cable cut when I was there last (June/July). I've experienced the help to be ok at best: they got us our food, asked if we needed anything and promptly left us to fend for ourselves (I blame the large plant between us and the bar). This place is fun for breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks. Cash or credit accepted and reasonably priced ($5-$15). Thursday night pitchers are 8 bucks: so drink up at the end of the week! read more

Horrible service. I came with my girlfriend and I feel like they racially profiled is. A couple came about 2 minutes ahead of us they were immediately seated and served. Another man walked up 10 minutes after us and the server told him to sit anywhere but completely ignored us. We waited 20 minutes and no service. My girlfriend waited in the front to ask for help and every server ignored her. So disappointed that a place in Long Beach would be so ignorant towards their customers. Won't come back here again. It's my own fault for coming back to this place. This is the 3rd time we've had an issue here. Ex 1: Old meat - When you get discount hamburgers, there's a reason. Our parties tasted like ground beef that was turning. We chocked it off as a fluke. Ex 2: Walk in with Starbucks. Bouncer goes berserk about our drinks and won't let us in. We're here for food, not your "gourmet" coffee. Ex 3: Hungry and desperate, we come in for food. Takes about 5 minutes to get acknowledged. My Hendricks and Soda takes another 10 mins to get to me. Screw getting food at this point. There's maybe 20 people here and plenty of wait staff. Just pathetically slow service. read more

Definitely steer clear of this location! The Huntington Beach location is so much cleaner and has a better crowd than this location. I came here on Saint Patrick's Day at around 7. Somehow we ended up getting a table, but it didn't matter because we got no food menus or no waitresses to take our order. We ended up stealing a menu from another table to order food after around half an hour of trying to get a waitresses attention. Yes, the place was packed full of drunk people, so it was really annoying to be in this atmosphere without at least having food and drinks. I think they had way too many people in there and they probably weren't keeping track and most likely broke the fire code. I got a green beer, finally, and it was served out of a plastic cup. I also ordered a Reuben with fries, and I didn't really enjoy it. I only ended up eating half, but it was largely flavorless. We also ended up getting irish car bombs, which did not work well at all in plastic cups because the shot in the plastic cup just kept floating up, and I just ended up sipping it. It was annoying. When we finally got the bill, the beers, car bombs, and food was way too expensive for the terrible quality of everything. Overall, a very bad saint patrick's day experience. I'll stick to the Huntington Beach location from now on. read more

Over all experience I was not satisfied. We paid and took our food to go. I then ate my burger and the meat was red inside. I was not happy at all to see that threw the burger away. Gallaghers is a cool Irish Pub with a great ambiance and good food. The service was very good...we sat in their small outdoor area because the inside was freezing cold and trivia night going on. I was craving a simple grilled cheese but our server mentioned there was a special that night for build your own grilled cheese which was cheaper and sounded amazing. I opted for a corned beef with avocado grilled cheese (no judgement please!). It came with a side - of course I HAD to have the tomato soup. All of this for under $10. It was delicious and the leftovers the next day was just as tasty. My BF enjoyed his stella on draft. I ordered a glass of wine...I suggest you drink anything but the wine...it was 2 buck chuck caliber but hey, this is a irish pub, what was I thinking ordering a glass of wine?!? No parking lot. We came in on a Monday for lunch. The atmosphere felt like this is the place where dreams go to die. The hostess looked and acted like she would rather be anywhere else. We were seated at a large table in the middle of the dining room and had some stale bread slapped in front of us. No server to great us. The busser, a middle aged Hispanic man, came to take our drink order. He was so rude that it was borderline aggressive. When no waiter showed up 10 minutes later, we paid for our lemonades and left. Gallagher's is very close to me and my "go to" place when I don't feel like cooking. It's a nice place to knock down a few pints and grab a burger, prices are reasonable and the service is okay. This pub can be quite loud at times and very busy so I would not pick it if you wanted to have a quiet conversation. The Irish bacon cheeseburger is pretty tasty along with the patty melt, the fish and chips, not so much, kind of soggy when I got them. The Bailey's bread pudding is one of my favorite guilty pleasures. A word of caution, this place can go from quiet and empty to crowded and very loud in a flash when the party bus rolls in, so be aware, you have been warned. It's a good local bar that is worth dropping in on your Long Beach bar tour. read more

Somehow it alwyas feels a bit hectic at Gallagher's. Maybe because my first time there was on St. Paddy's, and now I associate it with loud stinky crowds. They card everyone, which makes walking in and out of the bar a nightmare. The room is a big, hollow box, so the sound is terrible. And the bar area is always packed. Still, this is the best bet for a neighborhood Irish pub now that Limerick's is no more. (I don't count Auld Dubliner, as it caters to a downtown convention crowd). For my money, weekday nights at Gallagher's are better, quieter, and that's when the bartenders are friendliest. Try the Bloody Mary, which is made with all kinds of spices, sauces, and a heavy hand. read more

After reading some of the reviews I am mind blown as to why people are harsh on certain things that are beyond the servers control. Does this place deserved anything less than 4 stars? Absolutely not. I've been coming to this place for years, I like to visit during football season because it's a 9ers bar and I just realized that I have never posted a review. The food is always incredible and the drinks are always poured really well. I decided, after a long day at work yesterday, to stop by for happy hour. They have happy hour almost every day around the time Work lets out and that's amazing. Last night I ordered a side of tots (which for some reason are so delicious that I can't get enough of them, especially with the sauce) and the Brie Cheeseburger which was incredible. Nice pub to just hang out and kick it. It's packed with people here and there's a live band that plays...very upbeat. Drinks are standard, with a large selection of beers. Gallagher's is a good bar to come have a drink and hang out. They make excellent Bloody Mary's, a good beer selection and have one of the best all you can drink Mimosa's on Saturday and Sunday. Which they do a very good job making sure your glass is full. Ufortunately, the food isn't all that great. It's below average typical pub food. The last couple of times I've come in for breakfast, the food just not good. The last time I ordered the True American breakfast and was served thick bacon that was all fat and two over easy eggs that were runny and barely cooked. The potatoes were bland and plain.
