Absolutely TERRIBlE. The owners have bad attitudes towards the customers. Last week, I ordered a pizza, large cheese, thin crust and crispy, and buffalo fingers with extra blue cheese. When I got the pizza, the cheese was barely melted, far from crispy, and no blue cheese at all for the buffalo fingers. Today, I ordered a half cheese, half mushroom pizza, CRISPY and thin crust. Same result, the cheese was barely melted. I called the restaurant, and complained about both orders, and the owner just said "we'll I don't know" and I said clearly she just doesn't care. She then said there is nothing they can do, they are closed, so they are not making another pizza (at 8:45PM). If it was me, staying an extra 15 minutes to make a customer happy is a small price to pay. She then put me on hold, but didn't inform me she was doing that, I heard in the background that "there is a girl complaining on the phone about her pizza, I don't care, you talk to her, I'm not doing anything about it" At that point, I had enough. They're pizza and service used to be great, but it seems they got bored with putting in the effort and customer service it takes to make a restaurant strive. I will never go there again, nor refer it to friends and my family like I used to. read more

Oh my gosh, the best Alfredo I've had in a while! It's so tough to find a place that will do cut up cutlets in my chicken ziti and broccoli Alfredo, but Gallo did it-it was amazing! My boyfriend always gets the chicken parm sub, he loves it! Great place! read more

Excellent pizza! Whether it's the traditional dough, whole wheat or the sometimes offered gluten free dough. I love the roasted vegetables toppings available. If you love real salads order the Insalata Alcamo. It's loaded with fresh greens(not disgusting iceberg like most take out salads), marinated portobello mushrooms, fresh grilled chicken, fresh tomatoes and onions and black olives all complimented by a great homemade balsamic vinaigrette. Enough my rant.... I've been a customer since this place opened at the location of Peabody favorite POP's and I have never had a bad experience or an unsatifying meal. From the excellent pasta dishes and entrees all the way to fresh apps. Some other reviewer said the mozzarella sticks were just ok and I ask why did you order that when you could order the bruschetta or eggplant rollatini. I've eaten there a handful of times but not lately. When I did the service was always excellent and extremely friendly. I even had a valentine's dinner there just because an ex and I wanted a meal we know we'd love. My only complaint is that since their opening they haven't changed the menu up at all. Up until today we were loyal customers...Called at 6:15... They said 45-60. Called after hour and a half, said it was on road, called 20 min after that, told same thing, called 20 min and they said they would call driver. Got a call back saying they have no record of my order. Really, after 2+ hours and three phone calls NOW you tell me. I asked that I get a credit for next time and he refused. I was absolutely disgusted by this place. My boyfriend and I sat at the "bar" to eat dinner. The employees did NOT wear gloves while making our meal, and continued to make change, answer the phone, pack up to go orders... and then go right back to making our food! I know it is not mandatory to wear gloves , but are you serious!?!...when you know customers are RIGHT there in front of you, how about a little effort. I work in the area and this is my preferred place for pizza. Nice thin crust Italian style, great sauce, right amount of cheese. Based on the pizza I would easily give it 5 stars but I give it 4 because if I review the whole menu. I dont really care for the rolls they use for their subs. I love Gallo Nero and it is our favorite local place to eat. The food is consistently great. We get delivery at least one a week and have for years. I have never, ever been disappointed. My favorite is the Mediterranean salad and the Fusilli ala Vodka which has homemade pasta. The pizza sauce is sweet and delicious with always fresh ingredients. I have picked up pizza from this location before. Their pizza is normally very good. However, I just ordered for delivery from them. It took them an hour and a half for my order to be delivered and it was the wrong order. By the time my pizzas reached my house, they were no longer hot. I was very disappointed by this. New fan of this place. We recently moved to the Peabody Square area and have tried almost every place for pizza and good food. We gave up pizza for a long time until we decided to try Gallo Nero. What looks like your average downtown pizza shop on the exterior ..is a pleasant surprise. The pizza is awesome thin crust with a great variety of toppings and unique specialty pies . The dinners are all spectacular , (trust me I've returned several times and tried them all). You can sit at the bar and watch the chef cook your meal,,,,in a spotless kitchen. Best of all the dinners are very reasonably priced and you have plenty to take home with you. This place is my go to restaurant for a great meal in a casual atmosphere. read more

If I can give zero stars to this place, I would not hesitate to do so. Terrible experience from the beginning to the end. I will never return again. We heard this place got full liquor license, thus we thought to give it a shot. We sat at the bar and ordered a beer and a Cosmopolitan for my girlfriend. The waitress opened my beer, but she did not know how to make a Cosmo, therefore, a cook behind the line came out to make it, with a smirk in his face like we were wasting his time. Cosmo tasted too strong and we had to tell him the ingredients, because he did not know how to make it either. A friendly suggestion: buy the "Bartending for Idiots" Book and keep it behind the bar or download the Mixology App in your smartphone; both will be very handy. We ordered Homemade Fusilli and Veal Marsala for dinner, but we told the waitress no Portobella mushroom on Veal Marsala. When entrees came out, Veal Marsala had Portabella mushroom (no big deal) but it became one when the waitress took my dish away to fix it. The same cook/bartender, came out again from behind the line and started yelling at the waitress in a foreign language, right in front of us, probably for the mixed up. The poor waitress was stunned and never said a word, ready to burst into tears. I felt so bad for her, almost got up to get the plate back from her hands. Veal Marsala got fixed, the same cook/bartender came to serve it and apologized for the dish. Later, we found out he was the owner. Well, Mr. Owner, apologies accepted for the Veal Marsala, but you must also apologize for the unpleasant scene we had to witness and... apologize to your waitress as well for treating her like garbage. I would be surprised if she does not sue you for "unfair practices" or file a complaint with Mass Dept. of Labor, because you engaged in a classic example of workplace abuse. Learn how to treat your employees with respect and be a gentleman; do not be a two-faced coward bully. The same cook/bartender/owner, numerous times came behind the line and opened the cash register, touching dirty dollar bills, then go back behind the line to throw chicken breasts in frying pan with his dirty hands without first washing them. What can I tell you, we had a disastrous night, Cosmo sucked, Fusilli were mushy and Veal Marsala (which was fixed) tasted like rubber. The only thing which tasted fine was the beer, only because was not made on premises. We kept our mouths shut and digested the bitter experience, but are NEVER returning to this place again. read more

Horrible pizza.. I ordered a pepperoni pizza, and received pepperonis on only half the pizza. The tomato sauce tasted cheap, reminded me of the pizza they serve at arcades. Waste of fifteen dollars, and am regretting giving the delivery guy a tip. Lady on the phone sounded unenthused, and probably got my order wrong. The only plus side was that the pizza had the option of being made on wheat bread. I am wondering how this place managed a four star rating, as this is why I ordered from them in the first place. Heaven on earth. There food is scrumptious! The place is clean, the food is great, the portions are nicely-sized, and the service is exceptional! It doesn't look like a sit-down restaurant, but it is! Their prices are so reasonable! I most enjoy the following dishes: Scallop pasta, pizza, and Mediterranean Salad with chicken in it. We wanted to try this Restaurant on a good recommendation. It was bad from the start from the minute we ended the door no one sat us down, we had to set ourselves down then when it came down to order the food it took forever. the waitress was rude, she was annoyed when we ask any questions about the food or if they would accommodate someone with food allergies. Finally when we did get our food it was so bad. The pizza was burned on top , and raw on the bottom. The waitress never asked what kind of dressing we wanted for our salad. The gnocchi was raw and hard and sauce was cold and the mozzarella was not melted . The fish we ordered was not fresh it was frozon,which our nice waitress told was fresh everyday. The potatoes that came with fish were cold and not cooked that day. It was so bad, I would never go back!! It is too bad because you love to give small business in your town business, but never again! Also they say it is real authentic Italian food but it is NOT , because the people that were running the place we're all Greek to speaking Greek. read more

I went there one afternoon with a friend of mine for lunch. Our waitress was very polite, friendly and told us all about the daily specials. We didn't know what to order but after we saw the rich menu with the numerous Italian dishes we decided to try the "Balsamico Chicken" and the "Scallop Pasta". We ordered a bottle of Merlot and and our waitress brought us fresh baked rolls and dipping oil. Everything was absolutely delicious including the relaxing atmosphere and the Italian music palying in the background. For dessert we ordered Tiramisu which is made fresh daily by the owner who's also the Chef of Gallo Nero. At the end or our meal, the owner came over and asked if we were satisfied with our dinner and we congratulated him for everything. On our way out we just couldn't resist trying their famous "Shrimp Scampi Pizza" so we ordered one to go. We're definately going back there again soon!!! read more
