The Service: excellent service too, they all make you feel important and they are so friendly and serve you the best. The Ambience: oh wow really nice place, big & not crowded. They even have a room if you want to celebrate special occasions which I had when I celebrated my birthday with family & friends. We often visit the place especially after our work on our fridays, really amazing and worth the price. I give them 10/10. Service was great! Decor cheesy but so much fun. Also, the seating was very comfy, that's hard to find these days. My husband ordered a burger, looked fantastic, and he said it tasted wonderful. Had an out of this world thousand island dressing that was made in house. I had the arancini, red sauce was balanced. Also the house salad with balsamic vinaigrette with salmon. Salmon was perfectly cooked, not under cooked, and definitely not over cooked. Got a Yelp suggestion about this place and it was spot on! Don't let the location fool you the space is awesome! The pirate theme is all through the restaurant and is put together very well. Many large TV's all around and a good size bar area. Multiple tables for small or large groups. The service is top notch. Our server Mark was attentive and funny. I appreciate a place when other servers/managers come by just to see if you need anything. Food is great. Started with the captain's mushroom. Mushrooms cooked perfectly not too soft and the sausage was very flavorful and not too spicy. My wife thinks black pepper is spicy and she enjoyed these. I went with the chicken parm which was massive. Perfectly cooked the meat was juicy, the breading had a great crunch, and it was covered in cheese. The sauce was a little sweet for my taste but still good. I could only finish half the portion was so big. Wife went with the salmon with a lemon/caper pan sauce over mashed potatoes and it was excellent. Dessert was the Kahlua chocolate cake. Very moist and not overpowering. Overall great experience and VERY reasonably priced we are definitely coming back with some friends. I travel a lot with my kids to sport tournaments around the country and if a hotel had a restaurant like this in it, I would stay at that hotel just so we could hang out and have dinner/drinks with the other parents. read more

I ordered a gnocchi chicken Alfredo with dumplings- sounds amazing! well once it arrived and I started to dig in, and the top of the food was COVERED with cheese. so much cheese I felt like I was starring one of those mozzarella commercials- and I couldn't stomach it. The waiter checked on us one time during our meal, and that was in the very beginning. the second time he checked on us I told him I wasn't very happy with my meal due to it being too cheesy. This location in Sparks, is much larger than their previous one in Somersett, and they now serve breakfast & lunch as well. The decor is wonderful fun, full of pirate ships and mermaids! All in all, it was a great experience. Absolutely, doubtlessly the best Italian food we have had in Reno. I am a transplant from NYC (Lower East Side with easy access to Brooklyn), so I know good Italian. The ambiance is welcoming & serene in this lovely, large & well laid-out space; we were promptly greeted by a young woman who said to sit anywhere--not in a dismissive way but in a manner that suggested we could sit anywhere we felt most comfortable. Then we met Spencer Armstrong, the amazing chef/owner who genuinely wants to know how he could improve our experience. Attached to a Best Western, we ate there for 2 nights and the food was excellent. Lots of Italian food, as well as other stuff. We always had the calamari appetizers and they were perfect. Then we had pasta dishes which also were super good. Price is about average to other restaurants. Owner is very nice and so is the waitress. We had a young hispanic new mother who was super nice and welcoming. She remembered us from the night before and stopped and talk to us. Were new to Reno/Sparks. We wandered into Gambi's during our stay in Reno at the connected best Western hotel. We went for a quick bite and had our expectations raised due to the excellent level of service care and quality of the dishes. Our 5 year old was wearing the cheese all over his face from the generous kids portion of their homemade Mac and cheese meal. Our picky 7 year old devoured her hamburger ( it was perfectly juicy and full of flavor) and our 8 year old that only ever orders spaghetti sauce this was the "best spaghetti she's had yet. " The appetizer of the coconut shrimp tasted like they grilled it in actual coconut and not just a sprinkling of coconut flakes. It was a delicious way to start our meal. Then I ordered the lobster ravioli which was packed full of shredded lobster and served in a white wine cream sauce with fresh sage as the perfect garnish. Lobster dishes can be too creamy or rich for me and this one was the perfect balance in my opinion. My husband ordered the lasagna and it was authentic and fresh. We don't normally order dessert but with how satisfied we were with the meal we had to try it out. My 5 year old son had the chocolate chip canolli ( which I tasted and the shell was reminiscent of a churro with a crunch you could tell was freshly baked , the cream was well balanced with the not too sweet but just right ricotta filling) . My daughters shared the chocolate gelato and it was as delicious as gelato always is ( I don't believe I've ever had a bad gelato) my husband and I shared a chocolate Carmel Kahlua cake. ....this cake was divine and tasted like a fresh souffle warmed in the oven. It was eaten to the last crumb and it paired perfectly with the house made vanilla gelato scoop it was swerved with. We didn't expect to want to write a review before arriving at Gambi's but it was just too wonderful of an experience not too. From the ambiance of an all out up classed pirates hideout to the owner and his son taking time to introduce themselves. This is a 5 star we wishing we could add diamonds to the review rating because this place is a gem! read more

This is definitely a place you go to for the first time experience, but I don't think I would willingly make this place a regular visit. Or really ever visit again. It was a very large mess. We had a party of five for Mother's Day which also happened to be my mother's birthday. We were all looking forward to this experience but even from the get go it started off really rough. Our server had very little server etiquette and was not very efficient in working, as well as the other employees. One of the other male servers actually straight up yelled at our waitress as she was attempting to take our order. We got there around 6pm and ended up being there until the restaurant closed. It was a mess. To start, it took 10 minutes for a drink order to be placed, and almost 20 more minutes for the three special ordered drinks that weren't water to arrive. I was given something completely different from what I ordered from the menu because the bartender and waitress had no idea what it was that I asked for. We also ordered a bourbon that had an entire orange slice in it and small ice which is incorrect for a proper bourbon. It took over an hour for us to get our food order placed in and then after that, it was the game of waiting. The employees were running around with their heads cut off like chickens and yelling at one another and scrambling, they also walked by our table multiple times and acknowledged empty water glasses without offering to refill and never heard us when we went to ask for a refill. We didn't get our food until about 9pm and yet had witnessed other people around us who arrived after us get their appetizers and food way quicker. The employees tried to compensate by giving complimentary bread and whatnot which was appreciated, but it definitely didn't make up for much. We are very patient people and did not lash out or try to send anything back. But the cooks couldn't even make a simple salad correctly, we asked for a salad without goat cheese and then two hours after asking for it, it still had goat cheese and then they didn't even have the cheese originally requested in replacement. The food quality itself was tasty and cooked well, but the portions were poor and small and we all agreed by the end of the night that we could've made the same meals at home for less. It was a pretty big bummer. We had heard so much good about this place but were given a very mediocre experience. It was very loud and there was a lot of noise going on as well, especially from the employees yelling at one another. Our waitress was a sweetheart and I pity her for how she got treated. We were compensated with some free deserts and whatnot but this is definitely a one and done place. I hope that things change eventually. It is a place with some good potential, just more so in the far future and not now. 300 dollars for a multiple hours long experience of playing the waiting game isn't something I think should be part of a average dining experience. read more

WOW! I've been meaning to try Gambis for quite some time and I feel silly for waiting so long. What an amazing place, from the food to the ambience, everything was fantastic. The vibe was was fun and inviting from the get go. We were greeted promptly and warmly. We started with the stuffed mushrooms and calamari, both scrumptious. We then had rib eyeand chicken marmalade, both off the chart good. We both finished with the Tiramusu. The service was impeccable. This will be a place I will return to soon.
