We stayed at the Sheraton across the street from Gameworks. I love having a place that's open that I can walk around late at night. Gameworks fit the bill even though we didn't play any of the arcade games. Basically it's a two story arcade for adults (which isn't meant to imply that it's an "adult arcade"). This review is really for the place where we ate dessert on the top floor. First, of all, a place that serves dessert at 11 p.m. is awesome. We were drawn to the brownie dessert, described on the menu as 4 different flavor brownies, each with its own sauce, and each topped with its own ice cream. We jokingly referred to it among ourselves as "The 444" and "The Most Expensive Dessert on the Menu" (it was $5.79). My husband dared me to call it the latter when ordering so of course I had to. FUN, yeah, you know it. A whole bevy of games (arcade, racing, air hockey, pinball, shooting) pretty much makes a swell night for me. Oh yeah, I can drink too :) so that's nice. It's a tad expensive so we don't go a lot when we're visiting. However, Groupons or that Thursday deal definitely help offset the costs of their pricey beers. I've never tried the food 'cause...I'm there to play, dammit! Once complaint - fix your games a bit faster, no? Sometimes the disrepair of the machines is really oboxious, especially when it swipes your credits with no qualm and NO GAME. Gameworks has stepped up their game since last time, more games were working and the pinball games all worked! We came for dinner beforehand which is good if you are hoping for bar food. Their nachos with steak was yummy. The chicken ceaser wrap with sweet potato fries didn't have enough dressing, and a few pieces of lettuce were rotten, but the sweet potato fries were really good! We were there on a Thursday night and it was packed! Next time we might come later to miss the younger crowd. I guess this write up is more of a tailoring or an analysis for what kinds of games one may be looking for as opposed to a review. It isn't a review on the food or anything like that. I have been to several pretty nice vintage arcade bars like the 8 Bit Bar in Renton and Dorky's in Tacoma. Then of course even more vintage than that is the Pinball Museum in the International District. So going into Gameworks I was thinking the set up like that. This is the first Gameworks I have been to and as another reviewer said is a lot like Dave & Busters. I had didn't know it was a chain actually. To play the games it is set up just like D &B which seems a bit expensive based on their credit system. Don't get me wrong. There are plenty of games here to enjoy but as far as finding those classic games from the 70's and 80's and the vintage charm with that, not so much. They do have quite a bit of 8 Bit games but it is on nice, polished consoles that seem oddly connected in a way, like Siamese Twins. There are a few fighting games from the 90's as well but again they are contained in a fresh, new shell. Gaming has become so diverse from classic games, interactive games, games for "casual" gamers and "formal" gamers that the choices with how you want to play just seems to keep multiplying. Gameworks certainly would have something for the gamers that like the interactive games primarily but for me I will continue to visit the three arcades I mentioned earlier for my retro and vintage gaming fix. read more

What can I say about Gameworks that hasn't already been said? Well, maybe something. Probably not, but I'll try. It's a huge video arcade, like every other video arcade ever. But maybe a little bigger. There's no laser tag or go-kart racing or anything like that. Just video games. Some vintage classics (Pac-Man, Galaga, Rai Den, and so on), a couple pool tables, air hockey. I didn't see any pinball machines this weekend, not anymore. Lots of games that involve climbing into a seat--motorcycle, helicopter, race car, humvee. The Hummer one is spendy but fun; it lifts and banks and bounces as you drive the courses. There's a big section of old boardwalk style token-based games that dispense tickets. You can trade the tickets in for everything from a piece of gum to an ipod, depending on how many tokens you buy and how many jackpots you hit. You can even play Sea Wolf and Frogger for tickets. Where there used to be one of the game rooms, there's now a bar with horrendously stinky bathrooms and way-overpriced beers. $16 for two pints. It's like being at a ballgame. Plenty of flat screens with games on, plenty of seating. And you can carry your beers around while you play--plenty of tables and cupholders around. That's kinda cool, even if they do cost a fortune. In the end, playing video games with a group of people who have all different interests and skill levels is probably the way to visit Gameworks. If I were with a small group of gamers who all loved the same games, it would be more fun to just play on a console at home. But if some people want to play air hockey, some drivers, some token games, and so on, there's really only one venue for it. There's parking underneath, and a 16-screen movie theater next door. It's an easy way to get a lot of entertainment into one outing for the right group. read more

Haha, I love this place. Probably because I love games. I love the racing games here, I love their Hummer game, their Initial D game where you feel like you're really in a race car... I love their DDR section, their B-Ball, their Skee-Ball, their Thai Jungle shooting game... haha, I just love it all. I think this place is good. I love the location, the selection, and the vibe. I feel like they're a bit pricey, but cheaper than FFC. It's $20 for 100 points, which is enough for 1 person. I tried to share 100 points between 2 people, and it lasted us less than an hour. I think THursday, it has unlimited play from 9-12AM for $10. Now, that is crackin' ass deal. I could play all 4 hours. But, I think that is the busiest too. Which sucks because that means longer lines, and a lot of games are being taken. I haven't been to the bar or food area, so I can't rate their food. But if you plan on coming here, plan on having a good time :) read more

This review is for their Thursday Night Special, which is $10 FOR UNLIMITED NON-TICKET ARCADE GAMES FROM 5pm - 1:00am (WHAT A GREAT DEAL!!!). If you don't have a game card, you will also need to pay a $2 fee to get a game card (which you can keep) and activate it. The four of us came on a Thursday night, each paid $12 for a game card and unlimited games for the night, and had a blast playing a variety of games. The first floor non-ticket arcade games consist of mainly racing games, shooting games, air hockey, and some DDR/music-related games. My favorite game was one of the car racing games that takes a photo of you sitting in your chair before each race and shows all the racers' faces during the loading screen! The unlimited non-ticket arcade game deal is also great for playing those difficult games that have a long storyline and require you to swipe your game card again and again to continue playing, which gets very costly on a normal day, but not when you have unlimited swipes! :) The second floor non-ticket arcade games consist of some more shooting games, basketball, street fighter-esque games, and some pinball machines! We spent around 2 hours at GameWorks having a lot of fun, and it seems like coming with 2 or 4 people is a perfect amount since many of the arcade games are for 2 players or up to 4 players. There is also an Esports bar that serves food and drinks here, and although I like the idea of an Esports bar, I can't imagine the food being that good. It also doesn't seem like the regular prices for non-ticket or ticket arcade games is that worth it, so I highly recommend coming just to play arcade games during the Thursday Night Special! NOTE: You can also pay $7/hour for each person to play both PC and console video games on the second floor in the video games section. I believe this is always the same rate, no matter the day or time. I've gone a couple of times with friends to play Smash and it's been pretty fun! read more

This place has such potential, but parts of it feel really half-assed. The last time I was here was 15 years ago, and I have the feeling that's the last time a cleaning crew was in the building. A lot of the games are outdated, and quite a few are not working at all. There is still a good selection and a lot of fun to be had...but Jesus, show a little pride in the place. Dust off a game now and then, fix stuff that is broken, and CLEAN THE DAMN BATHROOMS! Is this Gameworks, or an abandoned rest stop on I-90? Overall, it was enjoyable, but I expected a little more. I have enjoyed this establishment at least 2x a year since it first opened. Of course like all good things he prices seem to go up every year. This isn't Chuck E Cheese (obviously) so if you plan on taking your you kids hear, you maybe a bit disappointed as the tickets games are a little harder than your expected Chuck E Cheese games. I love their bar area. The service is fast & friendly and I rarely had to wait to save down a server for a refill on drinks. The food is decent bar fare and they have comfortable chairs to watch TV and or games. Gaming: it can get really expensive. We look out for Groupons to take advantage of. We luckily purchased 4 passes last year that were $30 or $20.. This allows our family of 4 unlimited access all day long to every single game (except for ticket games and the ones that dispensed pictures). My husband was able to play games that are $5 a play for an obscene amount of time but he thoroughly enjoyed himself. My kids 8 & 6 had a great time playing games over and over and over again within me telling them we were running out of credits. We had a great time and would recommend coming here with friends and family. read more

So it's been almost 15 years since I've been here. Brought my kid here thanks to a groupon unlimited play deal. I gave it 4 stars cause the games were decent. Many similar to when I was last here and a lot of other games that kids would enjoy. The games were functioning for the most part. Only one or two were out of order, but not bad considering the size of this place. The restaurant was great. It was happy hour when we got an early dinner. Half price appetizers and drinks! Food was actually good and quick considering the one server was working the entire restaurant. Very friendly, not sure why the other reviewers slammed the staff. If I came back, I'd make sure to get another groupon unlimited play coupon or do one of the eat and play deals (pizza and 2 hour game cards). I can't see playing video games longer than 2-3 hours. Gameworks has been an alternative to the clubbing scene if my friends and I wanted to hang out or meet downtown. And alcohol has never been an issue since there's a bar in the same building (of course minors are not allowed). The place is definitely not as big as the D&B I went to in California, but it is still pretty fun. I believe popular games that people play include DDR, fighting games like Tekken and SFIV, the one with taiko drums, a racing game that can allow you to race about ten of your friends, and even that crazy Japanese button-music game thingie. But me? I am a skeeball kinda girl. And they have four stations upstairs. And you can get tickets (counting for 2 points each) depending on how many points you get. And then you can redeem your tickets for stuff! My main goal was the Gameworks shot glass featuring Sonic the Hedgehog so I can add it to my shot glass collection. For those that need to know - it costs 120 points. :) Honestly, I'm so noob that kids probably get x100 more tickets than I do from playing one game upstairs. Honestly, you see these kids lining up to redeem their prizes and they are like grandma and grandpa at the casino waiting to get points from their winnings so they can score a complimentary meal at the buffet. But you know what kids cannot do here that I can do? Drink. TIP: Bartenders remember you when you go two weeks in a row! But, I guess that's not much of a tip. read more

I'm not a fan of video games. And I'm really not a fan of interactive games but somehow I ended up here on Saturday afternoon with a gazillion little kids. I did play Ms. Pac Man and Frogger and Jurassic Park and some paint ball gun game and air hockey but that's it. I watched someone try the skateboard game and about puked my guts out, not only can I not play those games but I can't watch other people play them either, my head nor tummy liked them. For a Saturday afternoon there were way too many kids for me and way to long of a line to play air hockey but I survived. This place does have cheap happy hour. Just about their whole menu in half off along with their drinks and I believe it goes until 7 pm. So if you want cheap fried bar food and half price drinks, you call it drinks along with their specialty drinks go to the bar at Gameworks you can get pretty messed up for cheap here. Just stay away from the Frenchie it tastes like cough syrup. Go during the week for happy hour stay away from the place on the weekends. **Update** After spending all morning at the Penny Exchange Expo with my nephews I brought them here to play a few more games. They loved Gameworks and thoroughly enjoyed themselves and thought it was so cool that I got them each their own game-card so they didn't have to share with each other only me. A lot of potential at the pc-gaming cafe but a big miss on my first visit. Game crashed in competitive gaming 3x until my account got banned (pending I complete and win 5 matches in low-priority, limited-selection matches). My friends pc had BSOD every start up then failed to login due to a bug in the launcher. Eventually we were moved to alternative pc setups and got in some matches that would have been great except, as I mentioned, the crashes had us attempting to climb out of gaming purgatory. It was a shame because the staff was friendly and did their best to help with the new game launcher software. (Which launcher is this? Still working out the kinks?)That and the food options had me ready to 5-star it. -game crashes -account banned -headphones out of stock I suggest we do a re-do once the software is sorted...comp 3 hours, take the mulligan, and revise this review. This place is huge! Two levels filled with different (video) games and such. The food/drinks are ridiculously expensive at the bar/restaurant! I think after 10pm this place is open to 18+ only. I've been here once, and it was fun. This is a two-story arcade with a lot of very old games and a few new ones and a couple brand new games. Gameworks is a bit divey. It's not clean, but with kids running around screaming constantly, I would imagine it's hard for them to keep it clean. Lines were short. We had to wait for just a few games. We bought a card and slapped some cash on it, then played till it was gone. I like to play arcade games, and everything I wanted to play I could count on one hand. It appears that this arcade is aimed toward kids or 45+'s who remember the good ol' days of the very first arcade games. Nothing was open for refreshment, and that was a drag, especially on a Saturday. They had a couple places that served food and drink. They should've had those opened. I'd come back with friends who wanted to visit, but it wouldn't be my first choice for a place to spend my free time. read more

Had my sons 8th birthday party here today and it was great! Had about 11 kids there and 8 adults, booked a party room upstairs. Having the food, drinks and decor included in the birthday package made planning much less stressful. Only thing I'd suggest to anyone planning a party, just spring for the 2-hour room and the passes that included access to the ticket games. I recently visited this bar/arcade (barcade?) with my wife and some friends. The layout is an all-ages arcade featuring video games, ski ball, pinball, and the like, as well as a bar section that is 21+. The arcade uses a completely electronic system wherein the customer buys credits on a card which operates all games. The games all seem to vary in price, and one of my complaints is that there doesn't seem to be a way to keep track of your credits and how much the games cost. The other concern in the arcade section is that while we were there, a number of games were out of order or functioning poorly. As an example, a pinball machine had a broken flipper, but had not been decommissioned. I will say that the customer service staff was quick to refund credits for customers who complained. Our group wound up gathered around the air hockey tables, and the first one we tried let us swipe our card multiple times without producing out puck. I mentioned this at the front desk, and a technician was there pronto to resolve the issue, and he gave us more credits than we had spent trying to get the table to work. The bar section was cozy and the staff was great, but I have to say the drink prices were a little high, even for downtown Seattle. The selection was standard bar fare, but the prices seemed to me to be along the lines of craft cocktails at fancier places. I certainly don't hold this against the business, but it's something I will be keeping in mind for any future visits. Overall, this was a positive experience. Service was friendly and fast, game selection was fantastic, and the atmosphere was fun and relaxed. I'll be back, but I'll probably skip the bar. read more

Stopped here for a little fun the night before, we head to Children's hospital. We did the Sunday special for$40. Two pizzas and four one hr game cards. We were able to add an additional hour for only $5 per card. The restaurant only has four pizzas to choose from. The cards will work on most games. The exceptions are games that give out prizes. Gameworks has a number of arcade style video games, air hockey, some crane and ticket games, and interactive games like DDR and such. There is also a bar. The games seemed to be getting pretty outdated and it is not a place that seems like it is very well maintained or cared for. It looks like they started a few years ago with some really nice games but then never updated it. There is a very neat looking stock car game where you actually climb into this little car that jumbles around as you drive in front of a huge screen. There is one really popular game that, if it was american developed, might be called Conga Drum Hero. They also have what looks like a Japanese version of guitar hero, but kind of outdated, but the japanese punk-pop on it is great. The ticket games suck. The air hockey is pretty awesome, except for the air is barely strong enough to push the puck around. Overall, I had fun, but that was in part to the company. I wouldn't spend a lot of time or money here, but could be a decent stop on a night in the city. read more

This is the coolest gaming arcade I have ever been to. This place is huge! It has two stories of some of the most amazing games I have ever seen. Huge racing games where you are actually sitting in a hummer vehicle. A lot of the games move, twist, and turn while you are playing them. Some of the motorcycle and airplane games were really cool. The graphics were awesome! Once it got late they asked the under 21 crowd to leave. They had a really large bar and tables to get some dinner. We didn't eat here but I looked around at what some people were ordering and the food looked pretty decent. There was a bunch of TVs up and people were watching basketball. We were there for a few hours. I had a blast! Next time I am visiting Seattle this will be on the list again for sure!! read more

We actually had read the reviews before going here so we were determined not to order any food but we thought a few drinks and some dessert couldn't hurt. By the gods were we wrong! 20 minutes before our server comes over to get the drink order. 15 minutes before the drinks were delivered. 45 minutes before our dessert arrived, and NO ONE could find my server when I wanted to check out. I ended up getting my bill from another server who STILL had to find my server (brunette girl) because apparently the bar didn't have change! The whole experience took TWO HOURS for dessert and drinks I did end up meeting the guy Jay other people have talked about he checked on us a few times, refilled our drinks, and tracked down our server twice. Since he did all the work, it was him I tipped. BTW the funniest part of the night was playing video games and the aforementioned server looks at us and gives her best stink eye, I just turned and laughed. Especially if you are going to eat, drink and play video games for at least two hours. The location was clean and the parking garages are close. I think going after 10pm was a wise choice as they kick out the minors around that time. Lets start out at the bar: No prices on the drink list and the food portions are pitiful! The hot wings gave me flashbacks to Easter celebrations I had as a child. That cute little fuzzy chick in my Easter basket was brought here to Gameworks where the cooks cut off his wings and deep fried them and slathered on Franks Hot Sauce. When the spinach dip came out it was more of a Tortilla chip plate than dip. I think there was maybe 1/4 cup of dip to snack on. There absolutely will not be a second time in getting a bite to eat here. I'd rather go across the street and do Cheesecake Factory or Blue Sea Sushi. Two appitizer plates, a philly chese steak sammie and four drinks came out to almost $70. This did not include video game time. The game time cards were reasonable. I think it was $40 and I got a good hour and a half play out of it while sharing with my husband.The ticket machines were ok in pay outs. I think I racked up 1200 tickets in half an hour. I think the biggest payout was on the big fishing/wheel spinning game. My first try I nailed the 250 ticket bonus. After that I would constantly hit 40 and 75 tickets. I really liked playing the Hummer game. You have to strap into the seat and hydraulics bounce you around like you were off roading. Totally worth it and you can have a passenger! I drove the first race letting my husband control the "boost" button. Then for the second race we switched. Totally fun. The sticker photo machine was broken- bummer since I was looking forward to sending these out to family members. At the prize station it had all the typical kiddie junk. I was happy to walk away with a stuffed boxer toy, pink haired mini doll, a dice to roll and candy. I really wanted the huge boxer but he was 4k tickets. All in all, expect to spend $100 to get the complete dog and pony show. read more

SO WORTH IT if you go on Thursday after 5 for the $10 unlimited deal. My only experience with Gameworks is the one in Las Vegas. The one there isn't the best and is usually filled with kids. I don't think they have an unlimited deal like this one does but I haven't been there for years so I can't say for sure. It was pretty empty on the day we went which we enjoyed. We didn't have to wait in any lines to try out the games. There were a LOT of games and sometimes multiple machines of the same game. There were some games that were out of order, but it didn't affect our moods. I think because there wasn't a lot of people, we didn't get hot -- until we played DDR of course. We also got Shocktop from the bar and luckily on happy hour so the drinks were only $3 each. Some games have cup holders but for the most part most of the games have small tables nearby to put your drinks down. We didn't get any food as we were saving our stomachs for sushi. I don't think I would ever order food here though because the reviews here speak poorly of the food. My only complaint was that the staff were kind of short with us. The staff told us that ticketed games don't work for the unlimited deal but we were still able to play skeeball and tickets came out? Maybe a glitch in the system. We just left the tickets on the machine because we didn't care to get prizes or anything. We had such a blast here. I think we got our money and entertainment's worth on the cheap. Went for lunch on sat during Sakura con. It wasn't too busy and we found a table where the server came immediately to give us the menu. There is an option to get a 32oz cup beer! We got the fish and chips and the Diablo pasta. Food came out relatively fast. The fish and chips tasted just like any other, but the coleslaw tasted really bad, as if it was water down or has cleaning solution! The pasta was decent, but the chicken tasted a little dry and the shrimp didn't seem to be all the way cooked. Service was okay, he never came back to fill my water. It's super close to the convention center, so there is plenty of paid parking close by. You can play arcade and ticket games at game works too, they have a good selection of it. But honestly I think it is kind of overpriced, unless if you just play arcade games (I saw on one of the weekdays its $10 unlimited arcade games!) read more

Lots of games to earn tickets if that's your jam. Deal or No Deal, Wheel of Fortune, pinball machines. Something for everyone! A coworker picked this place thinking it would be fun,cold beers and good food. The best I can say is at least the game was on. Walking in there was a sign to seat yourself, so we choose a booth a waited for a sever. It took a bit before someone finally came over with menus and take our drink order. I went with a draft beer, it was served in a warm plastic pint cup. This is so odd, why just why would you do this? If I was outside walking around like a college kid...maybe but in the restaurant sitting down. This made my beer get warm way to fast. I order chicken tenders and fries for lunch, thinking there is no way they could mess that up... well the chicken tasted rubbery to me and not crispy enough... I had to dissect each one for the "good"pieces. There were 10 tv's in my viewing and yet every tv was on the same channel showing the same game...another odd thing here. Their were a few employees hanging out on the other side of the bar, just on their phones and filling up drinks for themselves. Didn't seem like anyone here cares about good service. Not a good pick by our coworker and he will not be choosing anymore places for a long time. This place does not work! read more

Important info! For those whom aren't aware, Gameworks Seattle, WA is the last existing Gameworks location currently, this location specifically was bought out by an independent contractor after all locations shut down during covid. The store's website is Not updated because they don't have any access to it, for up to date info follow their Facebook page. The employees are hard working, kind, and family friendly, they're very informative, and anytime there's been an issue they've been helpful with resolving it. I recommend this place for a good time to hangout with family or go out on a fun date, the staff is very friendly and helpful so never hesitate to ask if there's anything wrong. Friendly reminder this is Seattle so please Please hang onto your belongings Do Not leave your cell phone or wallet left on a table/machine it could get lost or stolen! Also tickets automatically go right onto the game cards instead of wasting paper and if you keep your cards for the next time you go it'll save you the $2 activation fee per new card and if you keep your receipt they can replace the cards for you even if it's an old card. This place is huge!!!! There's a small bar and restaurant downstairs along with some games and the prize section. The restaurant bar has several televisions to watch football games and what not. Upstairs has even more games! There are a lot of old school games like street fighter and what not. I've never been to a game place like this before, so it was definitely interesting. All age ranges were there. No judgment! It's like a big kids chuckee cheese. read more

There are SO MANY broken games here. That being said, their specials with unlimited gameplay on certain weeknights are pretty awesome. It would be nice if less games were out of order though, or if some games were in better condition. The drum game on the upper level has horribly beaten drum sticks and a drum with a hole in it. Temper your expectations for Gameworks. It's a worn down downtown arcade that has 2 floors of a combination of arcade and ticketed games. Many of the games had ripped seat cushions, worn handles, or not even turned on. I will admit there were some pretty cool motion arcade games where you felt like you were in a moving car or off roading in a Hummer. Many families were in there and it seems like a decent place to bring children on a rainy afternoon, or host a child's birthday party. We purchased a Groupon which gave us an all day game pass plus $20 to use towards ticketed games. We didn't try any of the food or drinks, but they do have a bar for those who are interested. Although there are many signs that alcohol isn't allowed on the game floor, so unfortunately you can't drink and game. read more

This review is of the arcade only. Decent size, a bit old though. Had to stop here as we don't have anything like this where I'm from. Thought it was odd you have to have a bathroom code to use the bathroom and that it is kept locked. Very dated bathroom but large area to change baby diaper (not on the actual changer as it was in such an awkward spot). Also when getting a new card and trying to load it with $$ the machine wouldn't take our cash. So I went in line and had the employee do it for me and she said it breaks once a week. Games were fun for my husband and son and I must've looked bored following them around with my baby so the manager stopped by twice and used a card to load credits on several games for me that I was sitting next to. So 4 stars for that- such a nice guy! Didn't have time to try the restaurant side but we might next time we're in town. Definitely will be back with my husband and son to play again. read more

BAR REVIEW: They have a pretty good selection of drinks a long with a good happy hour menu. Places like this I like beer, and they had pyramid on HH, so I was satisfied. It's too bad the food isn't that great. I will probably try the nachos again, but next time no beef. read more
