This is the pastrami dog... One of the best meals you can ever imagine the sour cream potato salad's pretty good too. I got mine at one of the amazing stops this truck makes at Clyde Warren Park. If you think it looks good imagine that it taste 100 times better where the only downside is you need to go through twice as many napkins and it finishes too quickly. And it finishes too quickly because you wolf it down because it's so amazingly good. Meat so flavorful you think that you just got the pastrami off of one of the best delis in New York or Los Angles. I've eaten at Cantors in Los Angeles and this is just as good a meat. I was underwhelmed. My Rockefeller Rueben was good, not great. The bread was fine, even though it was a little burnt. The fillings were fine, even though they were neither overflowing in flavor or volume. The spicy mustard wasn't, but it also wasn't terrible, The service was fine, but not overly helpful. I asked for a pickle not realizing (or being told) that the sandwich came with one. If it was a $4 sandwich, I'd consider it a 4 star, but not when it's $10+ just for the sandwich. read more

I made my first visit to Klyde Warren Park with my buddy Dan today, and picked Gandolfo's as my mobile food provider. They made a solid sandwich (I asked for a recommendation, and they suggested the I Love NY), with about a good pile of corned beef and pastrami, sauerkraut, and spicy mustard on grilled marbled rye. I also opted for the pickle and a bottle of water. The bill came to $15 and change, about 50% more (all things considered) than what I'd pay at Deli News (who includes a side with the sammie), which I consider to be the best deli in Dallas. If Gandolfo's can get people to pay at this price point and survive, more power to them. Dollar for dollar, I'll opt for another food truck choice next time. read more

Hot dog was a Nathan hot dog and they have good dogs. Combined together, it was an okay hot dog..for me. Potatoe salad - was a crunchy mess. I am not a fan. It needed salt, barely had bacon, and it was just ugh...not my favorite. I'm a yellow Potatoe salad kind of girl anyway, so I probably should have just stayed away in the first place. Gandolfo's did lunch at my office in far northern Plano today, and after passing by some of my co-workers' desks, I decided I had to have some of this action. After a fairly brief line, I placed my order for a bag of sea salt and vinegar chips and a Taxi Driver sandwich, featuring pastrami, swiss, grilled onion and sliced jalapeno, on grilled sourdough with spicy mustard. If there was a knock on the sandwich, I would have like a little "stronger" flavored pastrami, but it was really good, so maybe I'm picking nits. Thin sliced, almost shaved, it was tender and just the right amount of salty. The swiss cheese was nicely melted, and the onions were grilled but not browned, which is better for the flavor profile here. The jalapenos were fresh, not pickled, which also made for a nice flavor. Maybe even best of all, the sourdough was grilled perfectly, not too greasy, and had a delicate crisp to it as well as a nice sourdough "tang". A very nice sandwich! Straight down the middle on this one. I'll start with the so/so: the fries are of your basic frozen variety, a little soggy and nothing to write home about. The potatoes in the sour cream potato salad were a bit undercooked for my taste as the dressing was on the bland side. I had the pastrami dog, he had the Reuben. The bread on his Reuben was really​ lovely and the addition of pastrami to my all-beef hot dog was killer. I don't think I would stop by this truck again, but the meal wasn't a let down. read more

With Dallas having such a cool to mild Spring this year, the food trucks at Klyde Warren Park have been incredibly appealing. Even on your average Tuesday, the lines for all the food trucks were long. My co-workers and I decided on Gandolfo's since their sandwiches sounded good. To start, their menu is huge. Like Cheesecake Factory novel huge. And I'm sorry to say that's not a compliment. It's just a bit too much to take in. The line at Klyde Warren Park was incredibly long and it certainly didn't help that the lady in front of us was a hot-mess-Plano-housewife ordering for three people with extremely specific instructions. Geeeez lady! Once I got around to ordering, the wait for food was reasonable and the cashier was very friendly. We waited about 10 minutes to order but the line had doubled by the time we were through. I had the hot Big Apple sandwich and the 6-inch size along with chips were the right sized meal for me. Lots of people were ordering 12-inch sandwiches but it sounded daunting. The sandwich was good, but it could have used a bit more feta cheese to spice it up. In the end the sandwich was good but not superb. I'd be happy return, I just hope the line is less chaotic next time. read more

Kylde Warren's Wednesday truck crowd was pretty thin crowd so I thought I would give Gandolfo's a shot. Pretty extensive menu from a sandwich perspective, I really liked the pastrami and corned beef options, makes for a little bit more unique sandwich place. I opted for the Brooklyn Bridge which was essentially a BLT with Turkey. Bread was decently soft but the sandwich itself was just kinda meh, sloppily slapped together. Tasted like cheap turkey meat to me. My co-workers ordered the godzilla and godfather and they didn't look too bad but they were not impressed either. King of Queens. You messy, nasty, sloppy, delicious sandwich. I love a stacked dripping with sauce sandwich. But they are few and far between. Places like subway just don't do it for me at all. Might as well just slap some bologna on some dollar bread and call it a sandwich. Places like Gandalfo's turn the sandwich into a gourmet art form. I loved their breakfast sandwiches while I was in Utah for college but have been away in Texas. I'll be pumped when they open a stationary location, the food truck is a little bit of a hassle to track down. Service is always friendly and fairly quick for a fresh made sandwich. My new favorite sandwich place. This was my first time experiencing Gandolfo's and since a friend of mine from Salt Lake City, UT raves about it I went in with VERY high expectations. I was still shocked about how great the food is coming off this truck. It lived up to all of the hype. I had the Knuckle and when I grabbed the sandwich out of the bag I was surprised how heavy it was. This is no Subway sandwich, this big boy means business. Once unwrapped, I could tell why people go crazy about this place. The bread was perfect and it looked like there were pounds of juicy, delicious meat on this thing. I took one bite and knew this was THE sandwich truck, I had to slow down to be careful not to bite off a finger, I was inhaling this thing. Everything item on this sandwich was great, I don't like olives but I found myself picking them up off the wrapper eating them like candy. Just make sure to grab extra napkins! Amazing, 100% amazing. My only concern was the price, but after seeing the sandwich and tasting the quality that went into it I will now happily pay for each delicious bite. I wish I had found this before it became quite so hyped. It is beginning to feel a bit formulaic. The enthusiam for the products isn't there so much - but the enthusiasm for promotion is. I had a competent sandwich - the pastrami was not peppery enough for my taste, and the bread was kinda weak too. Lots of food for the value. One Arts Plaza is a really annoying location. That's hardly Gandolfo's fault though. The trucks are alongside a lot that costs $10 to park in for even the amount of time it takes to buy a sandwich. I won't return. Over priced, under stocked, and obviously overwhelmed even outside of lunch time rushes. This was after the lunch rush you normally see around 12-1pm at Klyde Warren. We waited 30 minutes in line to get to the register even though there were only three people ahead of us when we joined the line. They were out of all bread except for white bread which can be somewhat understood after a lunch rush, but unless this is your first week as a food truck in KWP, you should know how to prep your inventory. They were even out of hot dog buns so my friend got her hot dog on a piece of white bread. It was a sandwich. With the quantity and quality of meats and cheeses, I would have to say that you can replicate this at home for a fraction of the price, and time obviously, as they do. I can't really picture myself paying $9.50+ again for a sandwich and a bag of chips (no drink) again. Pick up your game, Gandolfo's or move over. read more

I had the opportunity to try Gandolfo's during a Halloween event here in Grand Prairie. The food was just downright delicious. Everything tasted so fresh and there was so much of it! Great deal for your money. The staff were so enthusiastic about their food and friendly. I follow them on FB and keep telling myself I am going to venture Dallas for lunch because they are so good. The truck finally made it up to North Dallas so we went to check it out. I really enjoyed it! I had the Brooklyn Bridge which is shaved turkey, provolone, bacon, mayo, lettuce and tomato. It was tasty and it reminded me of the grinders I had while at college in upstate NY. I thought the bread was too soft though, I would have preferred a bit more crustiness. My boyfriend had a Coney Island dog. We were surprised to find the dog served on a hero roll because the photo on their menu shows it in a hot dog bun (it states it's on a hero roll on their paper menu). It was good although just not how we normally like our hot dogs. We also had a side of the potato salad which had a mild sour cream and dill flavor. You could tell it was freshly made and it was probably my favorite thing of the meal. We got a black and white cookie to go, which they have shipped from New Jersey. It was the best black and white I've had in Dallas. The staff is very friendly and I'm glad to have a taste of NY here in Dallas. I ALWAYS wanted to try this one b/c I'm from NY and all and sandwiches are where it's at I was pretty full from Ruthie's but still HAD to try something! Overwhelmed with options, I decided to play it safe and get the meatball sub. Ain't nothing wrong with that b/c my husband and I were GOBBLING it down together. The added tomato slices inside the sub was a nice touch and the rest was history. $5.99 was a good price for a 6 incher and of course it was delicious. I was very excited to eat lunch outside at Klyde Warren Park in the beautiful sunshine. Five of us decided to grab a sandwich at Gandolfo's Food Truck. Unfortunately, we were all a little let down. We all agreed that the buns left much to be desired. It fell apart while we were eating. I understand we got food from a truck so it's not meant to be gourmet, but all of our sandwiches were put together so sloppily that they were more than difficult to eat. And all of the seasoning seemed to be applied down the crease while the bun was open so we either got a bite with no seasoning, or a bite so salty that it was difficult to swallow. This was five people, five different sandwiches, all with the same problem. The line was so long that we waited approx. 25 minutes just to place our order and then another 10-15 minutes for the sandwiches to be ready. With that kind of wait, one would think that they would put more care in to building the sandwiches. On a positive note, the two of us who opted for the big pickle absolutely loved them. In the future, I think I will take a sack lunch to the park instead. read more

This review is for the FOOD TRUCK at Klyde Warren Park. If you want a speedy sandwich, this is the place to go. They have maybe 20 or so sandwiches, which some you can get cold or warm. Even though the menu is quite large, they do a good job breaking it up into meat categories (e.g. turkey, pastrami, veggie, etc.) I got the Manhattan Wheat, which was recommended by the guy taking my order. Surprisingly quick, it came out within 2 minutes!! There are plenty of outdoor tables and seating at Klyde Warren, so I popped into a seat and dug into my sandwich. The pros: the wheat sandwich bread tasted fresh and they gave you a lot of turkey meat. The cons: the sandwich as a whole was pretty basic and there wasn't much pizzazz in the taste or construction. Summary: if you want a quick, speedy sandwich for lunch - this is a great, convenient place to go. read more

Wow, this turned out to be one of my better food truck experiences in Dallas. They stopped by my workplace and my coworkers and I decided to check this place out. I had the King of Queens sandwich and it was the best sandwich I've had in a while. When I first saw my sandwich, I was underwhelmed because it sort of looked like a cross between a Subway and Jimmy Johns sandwich. However, it was completely different from those two chain stores. The bread was very soft but had a lot of heft and the the pastrami and the coleslaw within meshed very well together. I would whole-heartedly order this sandwich again if I come here again. The liberty fries looked very impressive when I got them. However, I was disappointed by them because the overall mix of ingredients left me a bit wanting. The chili covering the fries was just a thin meat sauce and there really wasn't that much pastrami loaded onto the fries. I wouldn't order this again, but I was pleased enough with how the sandwich turned out that it didn't affect my overall review much. My only other knock on this place is the price, but you should more or less expect to pay a premium when buying from a food truck. The thing is, half a sandwich can completely fill you up... so $5 or $5.50 for a full meal isn't bad when you actually think about it. read more

Review for the food truck: So many sandwich options on the menu, it's overwhelming. But let's be honest... more than $10 for a sandwich?? No matter how BIG the sandwich is, it better be the best sandwich I've ever eaten in my life to cost over $10. Fortunately they have a few hot dog options on their menu as well, which are more reasonably priced at around $6. I got the reuben dog and it was tasty. Really piled high with ingredients. Piled so high that it's extremely difficult to get everything in your mouth in one bite. So you kind of have to bite the hot dog then shovel the reuben stuff in with a fork immediately after to get the full effect. Semi-awkward hot dog eating experience, but yummy enough to make it ok. Took around 10 minutes to get 2 hot dogs. Not exactly fast food. Not sure I'd try them again. read more

Best Reuben I've ever had! It was gigantic and took me 2 days to finish off, but oh my gawd was it good! The sour dough bread was just divine and they added to perfection by grilling it. The corned beef was tender and seasoned in a way that made my taste buds sing! They put just the right amount of kraut on there and a dollop of home made Russian dressing. Add a piece of Swiss, and I'm in Heaven! It was almost $10, but for two days of lunch...I'm not complaining! I can't wait to try other items on the menu! My only complaint...they are not always in Carrollton or Addison so I can get to them easily. However, they seem to be gradually working more visits north into their schedule. Hooray!! Nothing special at all. Quite overpriced for what you get. We got the large Queens of New York and for $11, it was not great. They lightly microwave the meat and the bread was not warm. The cole slaw on it was your standard tub of stuff you could buy at the grocery store. The meat was fine, nothing great. Overall, I just wasn't impressed. I will say the man taking my order was EXTREMELY nice as was the guy handing out the sandwiches. Probably nicest customer service I've got from a food truck. But the quality and value were just so disappointing that I couldn't bump them up to 3 stars. Sorry guys. If you want a great sandwich in Dallas, go to Jimmy's. I said I would come back to Gandolfo's for lunch and I wasn't kidding. I was out in Downtown Dallas with a friend from out of town over the weekend when we found one of their trucks at Klyde Warren Park. There were so many choices, it was kinda hard for me to pick. Though this time around, I've ordered "The Godfather" sub sandwich. It's basically a chicken Parmesan sandwich done right with chicken breast, marinara sauce, parmesan, mozzarella slapped together between 2 slices of toasted bread. The entire sandwich just melts in your mouth with each bite. With all due respect to Subway, Gandolfo's is WAY better. Granted you may have to travel a long distance from where you are [depending on where the truck(s) go], but it's well worth it. read more

Weather was beautiful today so I decided to take a walk to Klyde Warren and see what the daily food truck offerings were like. Made the walk up and down the row of eight food trucks and found myself coming back to Gandolfo's enticed by a chili dog. I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to a chili dog. Bun should be soft and not overwhelming, hot dog needs to be nice and plump and chili should be the main focus. While the offering from Gandolfo's wasn't life changing, it did meet all the qualifications I was looking for. They usual come with onions and mustard which both rank in my top ten as far as least favorite food items so I 86ed them and added cheese. Got it as a combo with chips and a soda for under $10. read more

Godzilla!!!!! Had Gandolfos today at Klyde Warren. The Godzilla was awesome. Pepper jack cheese, Jalapeño and srirachi sauce. Points for them using fresh cut Jalapeño and not canned like most sandwich places. Not for the weak at heart, as you coukd imagine this sandwich has some fire!! UPDATE: I went back and was served by a very tan, middle-aged woman who exuded chutzpah. I assume she's the boss-lady. She wasn't as nice as the regular dudes who typically work the register, and didn't seem to completely understand how the cash register worked. With that, and upon more reflection about paying $16 for a cheap to-go meal from a low-overhead operation such as these trucks, I had to knock it down another peg. I just finished having lunch prepared by a Gandolfo's food truck at Klyde Warren Park. I love their sandwiches, and the kosher pickle, but I have some pretty big knocks that make it only "A-Ok." First and foremost, it's way overpriced. All you're getting is food to go, no dining room, no real overhead - a truck is a lot cheaper than a brick and mortar store, no AC, no soda fountains or drink refills, no tv's, relatively cheap food inventory, and only 3 employees. In short, there is no justification for an $11 sandwich, $1 pickle, $2 chips, and a $2 drink ($16 dollars for a basic lunch). I suppose the marketplace will determine whether these prices persist, but in the meantime, they're prohibitive. Secondly, of the long list of sandwiches they sell, only two are vegetarian. Make up a couple more variants, even if they're just one of the meat sandwiches hold the meat. Finally, my friend got a root beer (which was only a 12 ounze can) and was charged $3! The worst part? It was warm. They hadn't iced them. So, while I love the sandwiches, I hope the business model becomes more consumer friendly. read more

YUMMY sandwiches & friendly people. It's a big sandwich too. I've gotten a turkey sandwich, roast beef, and a breakfast bagel from here. I actually drove with my coworkers to this truck the first day they were in business. I'm really glad they seem to be doing well! The owner is very friendly and eager to meet his patrons. On to the sandwiches - the bread is great. Fluffy but can hold on to the all the filling inside. The roast beef is amazingggggg. When I think of roast beef, gray looking meat that comes in zip loc bags comes to mind. This is definitely not vacuum sealed meat. I got the smaller sized sandwich and it was still a healthy portion for lunch. I also got the potato salad to go with it and it was pretty good too.
