I love a good sandwich and Gandolfo's did not disappoint. Tried the Taxi Driver and added sauerkraut (the employee's recommendation). She wasn't wrong! It was really good! Our first time here. I have wanted to try it and convinced the hubs as he wanted a light meal. I looked up the menu first and was astounded by the variety. Generally, we are pizza people but we both chose the Little Italy hot sandwiches. We both chose the twelve inch, 1/2 hot and 1/2 cold (to take home). Hubs said no tomato, mayo, oil or vinegar. He got it all - everything on his sandwich! I ordered as is but had to ask for the provolone on my cold sandwich. Taste-wise my sandwich was good but the service was less than welcoming. The guy at the counter acted like it was an inconvenience to help us and the gal in the kitchen had the same look. That may be why she probably made our sandwiches wrong. The salads in the refrigerator case looked amazing. I tried the potato sour cream potato salad. The potatoes were bigger chunks than normal and they were firm, not mushy. We have ordered take away from here many times but decided an eat-in snack was in order. I have enjoyed the mac and cheese many times and the mousse cake a couple of times. Both were delicious as usual. Bookguy had the same thing for the first time, and he agreed both were very good. I found the cake to be a bit too rich to eat at once following the mac, so I had a nice little snack later. The space is clean and today it wasn't crowded so we could talk easily. Wow! While you cannot to compare this deli to the famed Katz's Deli in NYC, the pastrami sandwiches here are terrific. We had the Central Park (on grilled sourdough) and the Pastrami on Rye sandwiches. There is no skimping on meat here and it is moist and flavorful. While the meats are likely not made in-house, it is obvious they use quality pastrami. These sandwiches are huge, two-hand, and 5 napkin sandwiches....Mmmm good. The young lady who waited on us, Tiffany, was super nice with a big smile and very helpful. The deli is located in a small strip mall and has ample seating to get through a moderate lunch rush. If we weren't leaving town tomorrow, I'd come back to try another sandwich. I recommend this restaurant but at this point can only attest to the pastrami sandwiches. However, based on what we ate today, I am confident the other sandwiches are equally delicious. My review is a 5-star review based on the tastiness of the sandwiches, the quantity of the meat on the sandwich, the friendliness if the staff, the cleanliness of the store and the type of type of deli. Please note that I rate based on type of establishment, therefore a 5-star eating for a standard deli verses a deli that makes their own kosher meats (like Katz's) are a completely different scale although both may get a 5-star rating. For instance, it is possible that a fast food chain could get a 4 or 5 star review but that could never be compared to a 4 or 5 star review for a Top of the Line restaurant. Gandalfo's New York Deli has been a favorite sandwich stop for half of my family for some time (most of us would identify it as their favorite deli in Omaha). The menu is massage and there is literally a sandwich for everybody, whether you want cold cuts, chicken, non-deli meat sandwiches, vegetarian, etc). If lunch sandwiches don't appeal to you, they have all day breakfast too! And on top of that, they have several fresh deli salads, (which you can put into combos in place of chips for an upcharge). My favorite of the salads is the broccoli and cheddar. I don't always get a salad, but if I do, that's the one. They also have daily specials as well. For me, my go-to order is the Throg's Neck Bridge (but the Rockefeller Reuben and Bronx BBQ are also delicious!!!) and my wife gets the Godzilla (EVERY TIME, no modification). My son goes for breakfast bagels or sandwiches most the time, but there is literally something for everybody here. A bit pricey but well worth it. The staff is usually pretty friendly and inviting too. The dining room is clean and the atmosphere is inviting and I never feel rushed to leave which is nice these days. Door dashed Gandolfo's before an Orpheum show and it did not disappoint. Got the taxi driver and the hubs got little Italy. The pastrami meet was juicy, flavorful and piled on. The sandwich was still fresh and hot when it arrived, with just the right amount of gooey cheese and jalapeños. I subbed the Russian dressing because I do not do mustard. A double serving sandwich for the price--the second half of it was a midnight snack after our show. We don't have any NY style delis in Lincoln so coming across this was a gem for us, and I can't wait to try them again. read more

Make sure not to write an honest review with 2 or less stars. They will accuse you of criminal defamation and tell you that you are lying and that your review is 'blatantly false', then tell you to change it. This was the first and last time at this shit hole. 'Double pastrami' is not even an inch thick all around. When you go to a real NY deli and order double pastrami it is at least 3 inches all around. The meat itself was not high quality and quite dry. I paid $18.69 w/ a 10% tip. Nearly $20. for something no better than Arby's. I did leave a less scathing 2-star review and almost immediately got a message back from Micheal B. from the deli who claimed that I was lying and accusing me of defamation; saying I need to change my review. He said the sandwich I mentioned was $13. I have the receipt. It was what I said it was. And I never said which sandwich I bought in the first place. They have multiple ones with 'double pastrami'. I would recommend it to anyone who has had as negative of an experience as I have now had to contact the Gandolfo's service center customerservice@gandolfosdeli.com. The own of this place needs to lose his franchise for attacking the character of the many disappointed consumers he rips off. He is still insisting this sandwich is $13.00. Maybe check the receipts? So this location/franchise is not as good as the original gandolfos in Provo Utah or any of the utah franchise locations. But missing gandolfos and surprised to see it here randomly in omaha, i have eaten here a handful of times since i moved here 3 years ago. One of the things I don't like about the Omaha locations is that they use a soft hoagie roll instead of the original french bread type roll they use at the original gandolfos which is way better. But usually the sandwich is still sort of close to the original in Utah. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was really disappointing. It seems like the quality has really gone down. I got the Philly cream cheese steak which I have been eating for over 30 years in Utah and it was not good at all. The assembly of the sandwich, the ingredients, just everything about it was totally off and not good. It was like worse than a subway sandwich. I would really recommend the owners step it up. I don't know if it's the people who work there now or what but the quality is low enough that I am hesitant to go back. And if any of you are in Utah, there is still a Gandolfo in Salt Lake City that is the original quality and delicious.
