    salad with mushrooms

Lord have mercy , I broke my heart to see a man struggle to purchase a damn gyro here with his airline voucher. It was clear that the lady knew how to handle the transaction but watched him struggle for several Minutes before coming out and helping him while holding everyone else up whom probably had planes to catch. The food did not look like anyone that knows about Mediterranean food cooked it. The salad was the least affected by this fact as I went for the veggies all the way lol Anywho , the disposition of the service is terrible. Looks like Jennifer at register 223 was not feeling it. No faves , just lucky I stuck to the salad and veggies

I was looking for something healthy to eat on my trip home. I love trying falafels whenever I travel, but never tried them in an airport. Garbanzo has a lot of options from bowls, to sandwiches to the plate I chose. You choose your protein, and other veggies for this plate. I chose the falafels which he fried up fresh. I added some salad, rice and the sauteed squash. First of all, it was a lot of food. The falafels were flavorful, but a bit more spicy than I am used to. The rice was really good as was the squash. The salad was fresh but I could have chosen a dressing that was less bland. When I pass through here again, I will check out their gyro plate. I'll go for more of the squash for sure.

Ordered a bowl and the "manager" gave me 3 pieces of small chicken. Rice was dry, and poorly made. The service at this place is god awful along with the food. The manager started cleaning instead of making my plate and when I asked her where my bowl was she had an attitude. The "manager" is super rude!!!!! I asked for my money back and she stated "it's an unnecessary refund so I can't give you a refund" and told me to take it up with my credit card company and dispute the charge instead. I asked her for her name , she turned around and didn't come back. Not even sure how the why put someone like that in charge, let alone give her a job. She should be at McDonald's taking drive thru orders.

    Chicken wrap $12+

I frequent here often, as of the last 6 months the quality of the food has gone down tremendously. The plate got smaller and smaller and now they charge $2more dollars if you want a plate at all. Almost price gouging if you don't want bread that's not right. Not sure if the quality of food is worth paying the extra fee. Decided on the chicken wrap $12+, it wasn't bad, wasn't able to get the cabbage because it didn't look good at all. And the rice wasn't fresh, I hope management will stop worrying about upping the prices of items and bring the quality product back or they will lose passengers.

Decided to try Garbanzo passing through Atlanta's International Airport. The staff wasn't very very helpful or friendly and seemed like zombies going through the motions. I think the staff would be great on "The Walking Dead!" I ordered the Mediterranean Burrito with chicken, falafel, humus, tomato - cucumber, yellow rice, tabouli, and Mediterranean garlic sauce. The Burrito was huge! I had to use a fork to eat this monster! The ingredients tasted fresh and well seasoned. The falafel tasted very good! There's a huge selection of options to build your meal, all of which looked fresh and tasty! I would rate the food a 4 for taste and value and the staff a 2 for lack of friendly interaction with customers. Overall I would return for another meal and just overlook the staff's zombieness !

This is a food court option on the D Terminal at the Atlanta airport. I gave it a try after readIng a couple of recommendations for it on yelp and I was not disappointed. I had a salad with mushrooms and I choose the tahini dressing. I also had a side of pita- warm, chewy, and yeasty! I also had soda water from the fountain and was charged for a soft drink which isn't typical but whatever. The salad was delicious!!

Enjoyed a very tasty lamb gyro while waiting for a flight. I must say Atlanta airport food selection is usually a wonderful surprise. Garbanzo has a lot of fresh choices to add to a wrap or salad or ( I forgot the other choices). If you're not feeling like chicken, burgers or pizza give the Mediterranean cuisine a try.

Salad with gyros (too much) and tzatziki (too much), but still decent food.
    Harley S.

A pretty decent option if you're looking for relatively fresh and healthy food in the airport. Just make wise choices. Major demerits for the borderline unusable forks in the shared food court space. You have to walk down concourse D to Chipotle to get a usable fork.

    Hiral D.

Not bad, but the falafel was dry, crispy, and difficult to break apart. I feel like it had been sitting around for a while. The place looked like it had been through a lot too and it wasn't the cleanest. It's good for a quick grab and go meal. There aren't that many options- you can't choose brown or white rice and toppings are limited.

    D Gate restaurant. Buyer beware!

In search of real, whole foods is a challenge in the airport. I figured Garbanzo would fit the bill because it's menu features traditional Mediterranean dishes - hummus, pita bread, rice, baba ganoush, lettuce, cucumber & tomato salad, orzo salad, mushrooms, chicken, steak, gyro meat, with a variety of toppings. I was standing behind a flight attendant and she even remarked how hard it is to get veggies on the road. This place was her go to spot and everything was tasty. I was sold. Then as I got closer to ordering, my concerns escalated. Here's where they failed: 1. FDA Inspection - 74 or 75 score. I should have left right then and there. Just way too low for establishments in or out of the airport. It was a dilemma to get the fried stuff or suffer through this. 2. Customer Service. I could see from the body language and expressions - there was a problem on the order line. No smiles. Attitudes. Frustration. Turns out they ran out of lettuce. Should be easy to just use another dish to compensate right? No. 3. Mushrooms count as a protein. Without lettuce I figured I'd get all veggies with chicken. That's an extra $2.25 for a small plate that's already $10. Whoa. 4. Overpriced. The shallow plate they provide and being stingy on adding more cucumber salad because THEY ran out of lettuce was a problem. My plate looked miserly and they just rushed us through the line. Still on my mission to eat real, whole foods. Likely won't return to this place until they turn it around. They have cornered the healthy market and just poo poo it away. Chick-Fil-A has decent salads without the toppings or dressings - I squeeze lemon juice over it.

Garbanzo in the Center D food court
    Bruce K.

Garbanzo is located in the food court in the center D concourse. With a similar set up to the burrito places, you pick the type of meal, pick the protein and pick the toppings - it's assembled right in front of you. Having read some of the reviews, I knew that the felafel wrap was the way to go. And so that's what I ordered, which had five felafel balls inside, sauces, cabbage and everything else on offer. As in "all the way". Next time, I think I'll have them skip the pickles. Otherwise, it was spicy (not hot, flavorful) and quite the mess. I would strongly recommend NOT eating this on the plane!

Storefront inside Atlanta airport Terminal D.

Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill is a relatively small nationwide chain of quick-serve Mediterranean restaurants. Garbanzo opened its first, and so far only, Georgia location (store #9001) at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson airport inside the still-evolving Terminal D. On my way to catch a flight and doing a quick glance over the limited food options in Terminal D at the time, I chose Garbanzo based on: 1. Speed - orders are made on-the-spot, Chipotle-style 2. Price - meals under $10 each 3. Looks - the food looked colorful, healthy, and fresh Garbanzo serves laffa, pita, and shawarma sandwiches and wraps, and plates filled with chicken, steak, and falafel (deep-fried balls made of chickpeas). Other foods served include hummus, baba ghanoush (made of eggplant), tabbouleh salad (made of bulgur, tomatoes, parsley, mint, onion), and kabobs. They also sell an assortment of vegetables and salads such as a lemon chicken and orzo salad, roasted eggplant, and Greek salad. I saw some plates prepared and they looked fantastic. I ordered an $8.40 laffa steak wrap. "Laffa" is the name of a particular flatbread (also known as taboon bread) used to make Middle Eastern street food wraps. It's essentially a large, Mission-style, Mediterranean burrito. I'm not sure if Garbanzo actually uses taboon bread, but you've got a choice between white flour or wheat. I had my steak wrap on wheat and stuffed with almost everything the stall had to offer. This included lettuce, tomato, cucumber, seasoned yellow rice, tabbouleh salad, hummus, baba ghanoush, red cabbage, tzatziki yogurt sauce, and spicy sauce. No pickles. I made the right choice because the wrap was big, filling, and delicious. It really hit the spot. The veggies were indeed fresh and crisp. Each bite was full of flavor. The steak was cut into thick strips. Some chunks of steak were tough, but never dry. The meat was savory. Due to the high number of ingredients I chose to have stuffed into my wrap, there was some sauce leakage towards the end of my meal. Therefore, wraps and sandwiches may not be best options in terms of neatness and cleanliness if you plan to take them on-board a plane. I saw a man spill tzatziki dressing on himself as he tried to eat a pita sandwich while waiting at the gate. Ordering a plate would be more practical if you're taking it to go. Napkins and disposable silverware are available self-serve at a small counter across from the storefront. Unfortunately, no tap water is available here. You're stuck with buying 24 oz. bottles of Nestle Pure Life water for $2.59 each. Sodas and other drinks are slightly cheaper. Service is very good.

    Greek salad with portobello mushrooms
    Claudia A.

I picked this spot because of the better reviews than their neighbors but they need to fix some things if they want to last. I got the Greek salad with portobello mushrooms ($9.95). It would have been better if they hadn't given me wilted lettuce. Come on guys, lettuce is .50, get some fresh green in the house. It came with olives, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes and feta cheese. The lady at the counter was friendly and she gave me bobbaganush on my salad when she saw me staring at it, thank you!

The service has always been really great, and the owner is genuinely nice and always ready for a pleasant conversation. But sometimes the food comes out... average at best? I really only come here when I have the taste for mediterranean fare but don't feel like cooking it since it's so nearby. There are some things they do well. I like their baba ganoush, hummus, and beet salad. But other things are a bit lackluster and the meats can be a hit or miss. Sometimes it's dry, other times it's succulent. The pita is toasted, but you can surely tell it isn't made fresh. My husband is obsessed with wings and even he said the wings served here are a BIG no. Also cannot recommend the fries, as they've been notoriously dry and cold. Perhaps we should not have expected good wings given that it's primarily mediterranean fare lol. The parking situation is also abysmal. They share a really small lot and the individual spots are poorly marked. This place is off of Briarcliff and the traffic is notorious for being bad, so that makes coming and going that much harder in a lot that's already a little treacherous. When the parking lot is full, it is like playing 2-ton Tetris. I'll also note that the hours can sometimes be a suggestion, and they unexpectedly close earlier than indicated (but will leave a handwritten note). This place seems to be a local favorite. The prices are nice. I just wish it was more reliable with taste and quality.

I ordered a simple Bombay martini and one of the specialty cocktails for my wife. The bartender made my martini in a shaker and I remember hearing him asking someone else to stir it for him. For the next ten minutes or more, the bartender proceeded to make drinks for the waiters, I remember him spilling out two drinks and remaking them while my martini continued diluting in the melting Ice. Ten minutes or more later, he pours my martini into more of a champagne coup glass than a martini glass, and I waited another five minutes or more for my wife to get her drink. When I tasted the upmartini, It tasted so diluted, just bad, almost commical to me. I just laughed to myself because i've tended bar for a living and that was about the worst martini i've ever had in my life. Either Rumi is watering down his booze or the ice melted so much that there was barely a gin taste in the glass. I think their gig is rather than give you a real martini level pour they dilute you with so much melted Ice that you think you're getting a full pour martini, when, in fact, what you're getting is half gin and half melted ice. And believe ME, you are charged as though it was a real martini. The place was pretty busy, so a lot of people must not have a clue... or just like busy places. If everybody says, this is such a great place, I guess it's gotta be. Unfortunately, that's just Atlanta-if it's popular everyone just assumes it's good or pretends it is. I don't do well with pretend. Next after being seated at the table, i tried to order wine least expensive wines (so overpriced)-they were out of all of the lower-end overpriced wines I tried to order. It just bugs me to overpay so much for bottles of table wine. They're barely twenty dollars charging, 60-80 for them. But of course, ten minutes after I ordered the wine, this happened twice, the waiter told me they were out of the ones i was trying to order ( everyone must have had the same idea). Oh well. Right before the table was served the main course, the waiter and manager came to tell me that they had run out of the dish I ordered. I ended up replacing it with their duck dish that I had never heard of before but what the hell I'll try it (maybe I deserve it, because I remember my father always told me you never ordered duck in a strange restaurant you don't know) Everyone else at the table of 8 were served their meals ten minutes before my plate arrived. i'm like, please go ahead and start without me. Then, the duck arrives. I mean, if you're such a Rumi's, fan, try the duck and tell me what you think. First of all, it was lukewarm for something that apparently had just been made. The lukewarm duck comes 'in" this purple sauce, I mean, it wasn't even swimming in the purple sauce-It was submerged in the purple sauce. The waiter, of course, later brought me the wrong type of rice than the one i oredered..That's okay they brought me a new one right away. I was really starving at the time, but if I hadn't been, I don't think I would have eaten any of the duck. Being submerged in a kind of a sickening, putple sweet sauce it just wasn't appetizing at all. Challenge: if you're a big Rumi's fan, go ahead and please try the duck, but you have to try it like I did- lukewarm temptation. Then tell me if you remain an unconditionalRumi's fan. The bread is delicious though. To their credit when I tried to order 2 glasses of red wine after my meal was served, they did give us the vin de table for free. I won't be coming back here anytime soon.

The food was good overall, and we enjoyed the quality and flavor of what we ordered. However, we…read morewere disappointed with our experience regarding dietary accommodations and ingredient transparency. My girlfriend has a very strict diet due to food sensitivities, so before ordering she specifically asked about the dough, bread, and flours used in the food. Unfortunately, instead of receiving details about the ingredients, she was simply told that she could eat it. Based on that information, she ordered the meal, but later had a reaction to the dough that was used. This was frustrating because the situation likely could have been avoided if we had been given accurate information about the ingredients from the beginning. We completely understand that not every restaurant can accommodate every dietary restriction, but being transparent about what is used in the food allows customers to make informed decisions for themselves. The food itself was good, which is why we're giving 3 stars, but the service on this particular issue left us disappointed. We hope the restaurant can do a better job of providing ingredient information when customers ask, especially for those with dietary restrictions or sensitivities.
