When entering I instantly knew I'm paying more due to how fancy and modern the place looks. I ordered the Connecticut lobster roll and I recommend it if you love butter, b/c all I tasted was butter (6.5/10). I also got fish chips (5/10) the fish was bland no flavor, tasted so much of oil and the batter wasn't even tasty. The food was great, and I've been a fan of the truck for years, so I was extremely excited once I heard they had a brick and mortar. The service was well-meaning but not particularly competent, and over $40/person for truck food? Yeah. No. As much as I will always have fond memories of their truck, and I'll happily visit it again if it ever shows up anywhere convenient (it seems to mostly go to BFE these days), I won't be coming back to the restaurant. read more

A thirty dollar cold main lobster salad stuffed in bread at the garbo's food truck. It tasted like crab salad, and the lobster was tough.

Their "famous" lobster rolls are 90% bread, 5% lobster, 5% air. Way too pricey but the patio is nice.

Visit: 05/19/2018 around 12:30pm I got the Maine and Connecticut lobster rolls because I couldn't decide on one. This was my first time having lobster rolls, and I was not disappointed. The lobster is wedged in a warm, fluffy garlic bread! I'm not sure which one I liked more... don't ask LOL My boyfriend got the fish and chips. I tried the fish and it was very good and very HOT temperature-wise. Please don't stick a large piece in your mouth right when you get it; it'll burn. The sauce with it was delightful. We just got back from London and were craving legit fish & chips. A quick search brought us to Garbo's, boy, were we in luck. The fish & chips tasted just like what we'd had in a quiet pub in London. Garbo's is delicious, but's it's expensive! That about sums up this place. Here's the highlights: -If you are going here, put the address in your GPS. We thought we were lost going here since it's in a little strip mall in the middle of a neighborhood. Just listen to the gps even when you think it's taking you some place crazy. -The food is fresh and yummy. We had a Maine lobster roll and the Spicy crab roll. Each were delicious, but I think the Spicy Crab was the clear winner of the day. Both sandwiches came with fries that were good but nothing special. -The portions are on the small side. The rolls are served cut in half. Each half is maybe 2-3 bites. My husband and I both ate a whole sandwich and fries but still felt unsatisfied at the end. We were actually in a rush to get to an appointment afterwards, we didn't have time to order anything extra, so we left still hungry, even though we had already spent over $40 for 2 sandwiches,1 soda, and tip. I know shellfish is pricy, but these rolls just seemed a bit small for the price compared to ones I've had in the past elsewhere. -The restaurant is cute and has a very Nantucket feel to it. It's very calming and relaxing place. Good job on the decor! -The staff is very attentive. In fact our server was almost too attentive, if that's such a thing. It was also a bit weird because he would only talk to me and not my husband at all. It just felt odd. This restaurant hits it on the bullseye EVERY SINGLE TIME. The lobster rolls will get you in the door, but everything is amazing. The lobster grilled cheese and tomato basil will appease the most stubborn non-seafood eater. I absolutely loved my experience at Garbo's! I must say that the food was great, the atmosphere was great, and the service was great! I cannot wait to go back. Being a true South Austinite, I don't often venture north of the river. However, whenever I'm up north, I like to take advantage and try a different restaurant. Garbo's is going to make it difficult for me to continue that tradition because I'm going to keep wanting to come back! When I arrived, I was greeted by the friendly hostess who sat me promptly in the cute coastal decor restaurant. I awaited my co-worker and was promptly greeted by our server with water. When she arrived, we decided to share the crab cakes and the lobster roll duo so we could try both types of rolls. To start, we had the Maine Crab Cakes and they are a MUST! We got two crab cakes on top of a salad and the crab cakes were bursting with flavor and crab meat! For our meal, we split the Connecticut and Maine lobster rolls because you can add a roll for only $11. Although, the rolls are not huge, the lobster meat is ample! I must say that I preferred Connecticut because it was basically bread loaded with large chunks of lobster meat. No frills and fuss. We got sides of all the dipping sauces because I love sauces and the Connecticut lobster roll is really good with the spicy aioli that they have! All and all, I would highly recommend Garbo's! Went here on Fri April 9th, courtiers hosts and servers. Place was spotless. That's were it ends.... Drinks were weak, ordered a bloody Mary and their ecuivalant of a Moscow Mule. Menu said 11$ for both drinks, but was charged $27.63 because they make you tip the waitress 25%, didn't see the charge till after we left. Dinner... Lobster roll, calamari, 6 oysters, and I beer. Cost 89$. Osyters were runny, the horseradish ketchup dip, was weak....even asked for more horseradish and it was delivered in water, no taste what so ever. Calamari was good but very small portion, Lobster Roll barley had any Lobster on it. The cost was not worth it, I would have gotten a better meal at Mcdonalds. Look for a better seafood place folks, this is not it. They say nothing frozen everything fresh... So not true. read more

Disappointed. Have always loved the lobster rolls from the truck so was excited to go to the restaurant. To begin with, the drinks were not great and over priced. When they brought my wine, the small glass was less than half full. I would have been embarrassed serving it. The rolls are SMALL. I got key lime pie to-go and when I got home I wasn't surprised to feel cheated again- a small tart instead of a regular size piece I had imagined. This is a great little neighborhood place. It's got a fun atmosphere and the staff was friendly. They have a nice wine list and a great seasonal selection of dishes. I had the grilled cheese with lobster and tomato soup. The calamari was great as well. My husband had the fish and chips. The fish was huge and very delicious. They had a nice selection of vinegar and sauces for you to choose from. My daughter and I enjoyed a pumpkin moon pie. The owner served us on this visit.
