Stopped by Garcia Barbecue on a Friday afternoon after a visit to the San Antonio Aquarium. It was a nice break from the heat--plenty of indoor seating and a chill vibe, which made it perfect for our group of six. We tried the nachos and a few sandwiches, and everything was really solid. The chopped brisket sandwich was my top pick--super moist brisket with just the right texture and flavor for a great BBQ bite. Their potato salad was good too--smooth, creamy, and way better than most. The BBQ sauce deserves a shoutout--smoky with a little sweetness, and it worked perfectly with everything we tried. After reading many great reviews of Garcia Barbecue, I decided to give them a shot for lunch. I got the three meat plate with sausage,1/4 pound of brisket($2.00 extra) and ribs($1.50 extra). I got a side of Jalapeño rice and mac & cheese. The ribs had good flavor and were very good. I wish they were fall off the bone tender. They were not tough just not super tender like I like it. The brisket and sausage are good not great. The brisket could have been more tender in my opinion. The sausage was nothing special. The jalapeño rice was very tasty and the Mac & cheese was very good as well. It was very cheesy and I liked that. The bbq joint was decorated nicely and the staff were very friendly. It's a good place for bbq if you're in the area. I would recommend a few other bbq places in San Antonio that are very good: 1) 2M Smokehouse has amazing bbq. It's the place to beat in San Antonio. It's worth the trip to the south side of town. 2) Pinkerton's BBQ is downtown and has really good food. Definitely try them out when you're downtown. read more

Yum! This place serves up great BBQ! Highly recommend the brisket! The sausage is also really good too. I also tried the smashburger and also really enjoyed it--seemed a tad small though. I was excited to try this place since they won an award. Nothing really exciting. No bbq pits and not even a smell of bbq. I ordered the bbq ribs, coleslaw and a side of fries. Now this is interesting. Last time we were at this location this was a totally different restaurant. I know from last experience well over a year ago we were not pleased. Here we are again except it's a BBQ place! How the heck did we miss this?!!!! Very casual restaurant, you walk up to the counter to place your order & then your food is taken to your table. The cashier shares her knowledge & provided some suggestions. After seeing all the food photos, wanted 1 of everything. Now I know how I gained all this weight! Yes, we love our beef! We had the brisket nachos, which were absolutely amazing, could easily feed 2 people. The cheeseburger, fresh, juicy & hot. These memories have helped me decide what's for lunch, today! So just got home from ordering online I guess through DoorDash but we were the ones that picked it up. So we decided to try this place based on them being on Elder eats which to be honest we're always kinda iffy with his reviews bc we feel some stuff he doesn't t really like but yet raves about it. So got there and they let me know they were outta cream corn, did offer to give mash or Mac, bf didn't want either since we already had Mac with the order so we requested a refund that they were unable to give bc of how we ordered. So again just got home and opened the food and it's so little Food for such a high price, we got queso fries but it had Mac on it. Bf called and they said they were out of queso so they put Mac in it instead, which that part he never mentioned when I went to Pick up. We tried to do a refund online but since they still have our order as not picked up we're unable to at this point. So will not come back, and the food is really mediocre. Couldn't even scrape off the Mac to get to the fries bc it was already so soggy smh. This place had caught my attention while driving down Huebner. After seeing such great reviews, I had to check it out. I stopped by for lunch and the place was quite packed. I placed my to go order at the counter and took a seat to wait for my food. The layout of the restaurant was pretty much the same as Pollo Project, with plenty of seating. The food was brought out rather quickly. I went with the 2 meat plate, with brisket and sausage. My two sides were creamed corn and charro beans. The plate also included two slices of bread, pickles, onions, and BBQ sauce. The brisket was really tender and the sausage had a nice flavor. I preferred the beans to the creamed corn, but both were pretty tasty. Overall, I enjoyed the meal. This visit was a bit confusing. The location used to be a Kudzu chicken restaurant and the set up remains the same. It doesn't smell like BBQ nor was there any sign of wood anywhere so maybe they use another location and bring in the food? They were closing an hour earlier than what was stated on the door so the mopping and putting chairs on the tables as we ate was distracting and a bit rude. The food was pretty generic. We tried the brisket taco, nachos (they were out of cheese) and a sandwich. None of it was very interesting and there was little BBQ flavor. The tater tots were covered with what I have to assume was their rub and they were quite salty. It was on the level of Bill Millers. Swing and a miss. I'm not sure why there are so many five star reviews. There are many, many, many BBQ places that are far better and representative of Texas BBQ. You might want to call ahead to be sure they are open and that they have what you are looking for before driving over. read more

Okay now Garcia's bbq , while visiting San Antonio I wanted some good authentic bbq. Garcia's bbq was one the restaurants that came up on my list . It's a foodtruck I love food trucks . Located next to a lounge that offers indoor and outdoor seating . The ambiance of the whole place is relaxing and fun . I wanted the full experience and I wanted to try a little bit of everything so I ended up getting the sliders which contained one brisket slider , one sausage and one pork. The picture doesn't do it justice because the sandwich is huge! The Smoked Queso Nachos is the bomb! We had chopped brisket and sour cream. Dad couldn't stop eating it. You need to check it out! The drinks @mcintyressouthtown are strong. I had the Lovey Dovey and Hot Eff the Press. My husband had the Hot Eff the Press and Moscow Mule. Dad had cranberry juice. Visited this place for the first time. Staff was friendly and polite. The establishment was clean. I ordered the their meat plate and selected turkey, brisket and sausage with Mac and cheese, cream corn. The meats were tasty and seasoned well. The cream corn was not so great. It tasted like it was made days ago. The Mac was good. I tried this place specifically for a float but they didn't have ice cream. Even though it was only afternoon they were out of several things), the limited options made it hard to get a good overall feel but for what we tried: subtle smokiness in the brisket and it was tender, sausage was flavorful and standard. The sides available were tasty (they were out of some of the side options as well so what our group tried overall was limited), green beans were great, Mac & cheese really good, potato salad was basic, decent but over-mayo'd a bit. We visited last night at McIntyre's Southtown for their steak night. They didn't disappoint! The ribeye was a little on the thin side, but the taste and quality of the meat more than made up for it. The baked potato and cole slaw were both tasty as well. It was our first time at this location and definitely won't be our last - the TV's were plentiful and they had a great draft beer selection. The service here is great. Everyone working had a great attitude and were friendly. I felt like they wanted my business. My husband had the brisket tacos and he loved them. He doesn't like fat in his brisket so they were able to give him lean meat. I had the spicy garlic aioli burger and was not a fan. My fault for not reading the menu and just taking the suggestion from the young lady that took our order. I am not a fan of double patties and that burger was 2 patties. I also didn't like how salty it was. The garlic aioli was good but I would suggest they season a little lighter with the salt. It was so bad that my hand swelled up and my wedding ring got super tight. I was thirsty all afternoon and couldn't drink enough water to satisfy my thirst. And I didn't even finish the burger! Highly recommend this place for some amazing food !!!! I had the Smoked Turkey sandwich with a side of Mac and cheese and my mom also had the Turkey sandwich with a side of potato salad :) and I must say at first sight it looked delicious with a good amount of slices of turkey on a nicely toasted brioche bun, they also have their signature bbq sauce at your table which I love so I can have as little or as much as I want lol first bite I wanted to try with out sauce ooommmg wow I wasn't expecting flavor town in the first bite wow and so juicy , I've been to many bbq spots and I've had some good Turkey sandwiches but never as juicy and tender as this and full of flavor and really didn't need any sauce !!!! Big kudos to the pit masters !!! I can honestly say in my opinion this is the best smoked Turkey sandwich I've had in San Antonio !! I was excited to try this place out finally. Well, the experience was underwhelming. I arrived at 11 am (Opening time) and was second in line. I looked at the menu and already had a bunch of stuff crossed off the menu including mac and cheese. That seemed pretty crazy because they just opened. I ordered my food and smelled no smoke anywhere. This place gave me a Dickey's BBQ vibe before they all closed down in San Antonio. I wanted to like this place. Everyone was super nice and the place was clean. However, the food was what was most important and it was subpar. I ordered the El Jefe sandwich combo which came out to a little over $25. The price was okay considering the portion size. The meat was tender but lacked flavor and smoke The sausage had zero smoke and tasted like it was heated up in an oven. The fries were cooked perfectly but over-salted. Couldn't eat more than a few of the fries due to the amount of salt. The BBQ sauce on the table was almost empty (Again weird considering they just opened). I had to drench the sandwich with lots of sauce, pickles, onions, and jalapenos to get any kind of flavor. A Bill Miller Po boy is what I can compare it to. If you want real Texas BBQ, don't come here because it is nonexistent. You're better off driving a bit further to B Daddy's. Overall disappointing, but at least I tried it. The tea was excellent and the best part of my lunch experience. read more

Yummmmm is all I have to say! This place was amazing! It was located outside/at McIntyre's on Presa street. The AC while eating was a HUGE plus as was the clean bathroom, because I was definitely in need of a good hand washing station after these nachos. The serving sizes were generous and delicious. The brisket was tender and well chopped. I didn't find a single "fatty" chunk in either the nachos or the sammie and the smoked sausage had great flavor! This was overall a wonderful experience! Definitely not great. We ordered the queso nachos with brisket, an order of ribs, and a smoked brisket sandwich. There are no fountain drinks, only canned soda, iced tea, and bottled water. The nachos quite frankly looked like dog vomit, which made them impossible to eat. The ribs were very tender, but the rub on them tasted absolutely terrible. Unfortunately, I think the rub is their proprietary seasoning, but we found it inedibly awful. The brisket sandwich was mediocre--the brisket had a nice smoky taste but was extremely dry, as was the bread. The mac and cheese that came with it was generic and probably the best part of the meal. The parking situation is also ridiculous, with a tiny parking lot that is dangerously difficult to navigate, though there's more parking in the back if you can get to it. read more
