It has been a while since we ate here last time--it was before I started writing Yelp reviews. From my memory, I think the entrees can be a hit or miss--I remember having the scallop dish and found the number of scallops on the plate a bit "pathetic", especially considering the price. Really enjoyed Garibaldi's. I made a reservation for my boyfriend's 30th birthday and they did not disappoint. The atmosphere was very warm and old school ballroom feely (we were upstairs). Our waitress was wonderful and very well versed on the daily specials. The shrimp cocktail was delicious, the drink cocktails (grapefruit spritzer and savannah honey bourbon with ginger ale) were amazing, and the main course was delicious as well. I ordered the red dish special that was served with crab risotto and seasonal veggies. My boyfriend ordered the NY strip which was topped with Gorgonzola and mushrooms and served with mashed potatoes and green beans. I wish we had room for dessert! I am going to say this is the best spot if you are on business and wanting to eat alone at the bar. There's a lot of us bar eaters when on the road, and I consider this one of my best spots. Even though its in the tourist section, it is actually hidden on the back end of the Market. Atmosphere is wood, dark, and masculine, with a lot of locals hanging out. I had the veal scallopini and it was very good. Some people say its pricey, but what isn't these days. Again, great atmosphere for dinner if you want to get away from the co-workers or if you're travelling alone. read more

First rime visiting Garibaldi's , reservation is recommended, food is top notch and the atmosphere is excellent steak was flavorful and pasta and lobster was excellent ,we were full but the server suggested the deserts and i couldn't say no to a bourbon pecan pie with ice cream it was delicious! Lovely experience for our anniversary! We went for our anniversary dinner. I booked the reservation a week in advance where you can also mention online what the occasion is. We arrived about 15 minutes early. Knowing nothing about the restaurant, my husband was immediately impressed with my selection. Though it was busy they were able to seat us right away. Knowing it was our anniversary, we were given premium seats in the upstairs dining room. We were right along the street facade at our own window with a view. There are only 3 tables that enjoy this position. We both enjoyed looking down on the street on a Saturday night and getting one hellava kick out of the people watching! Many people walking to and fro the bars. The service was excellent! We were well taken care of and our waiter also gave us some tips on where else to visit in Savannah. I had the Steak Dianne. My husband had the French Onion Soup and the veal. Desert was the flourless chocolate cake. We thoroughly enjoyed everything! And we had leftovers to take home with us. It is not cheap. We splurged for our anniversary - including a bottle of champagne. But I think the prices are on the mark for what you would expect in an elegant restaurant. There was a range of fashion on the diners. I saw some men in jeans and collared short sleeve shirts and then some women in nicer dresses. We actually loved this place and if my husband's veal parm would have been better it would definitely rate a five. We were seated upstairs (as requested) at a window seat (Which was amazing!) I don't remember our server's name but he was also very good. We started off with drinks. My husband had a Manhattan (Very well constructed.) and I had a PB&J. It's not what it sounds like. It stands for pineaplle juice, Bacardi, and jalapeno. It's very well made and not overly spicy. Just enough to let you know it's there. They started us off with very well made rolls and whipped butter. I kept adding salt to the butter as it needed a little something. My husband began with the Jamaican mussels. He does not care for anything overly spicy, and he LOVED these! They smelled delicious, even to me, a non-seafood person. I highly recommend you try these if you love mussels. For dinner I had the steak Diane with mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was SO good. I think my husband wished he would have ordered the same thing. The only thing I would have done different (and this is just me being picky) is to add a bit more sauce to the plate. Probably because I wanted to lick it clean. The steak itself was amazing, and the potatoes and asparagus were also perfect. My husband had the veal parm. He liked the veal itself, and the linguine. But felt the overall dish was too dry and the sauce too thick. (and that there wasn't enough of it.) He's old style New York Italian, and is a bit picky about his Italian food. The atmosphere is rather old-school Italian as well. A lot of wood, dim lighting, and a festive atmosphere. This place is special and it knows it. The food was delicious and the service was amazing per usual. The downstairs ambiance is more of a romantic vibe with dimmer lights while the upstairs is grand with immaculate crowned ceiling of gold and mirrors on all the walls. My description really doesn't give it any justice. We ordered the Denver lambs as an appetizer which was very delicious and tender. Be sure to be able to split it because it is a very good portion size. Next we had the Cesar salad that my husband and I had split and plated separately. Our final course my husband ordered the lasagne and I ordered the seared salmon. The salmon was cooked to perfection. If you're in the Savannah area definitely give them a try. read more

Went to Garibalid's tonight for dinner. We had eaten there twice before tonight as we are from out of town. We brought two other couples with us as it was for a 41st anniversary. Got there about 7:10 for a 7:30 reservation and got seated right away. Our server was very good and got our drinks and bottles of wine right away. We ordered our food right after we set down. We were having a good time, but noticed that there were at least three tables that sat down after us, that were getting there food served before us. We didn't say anything as our waitress kept saying we would be soon. Finally got our food about two hours after we sat down. While the food was extremely good, I was very disappointed in how long it took. The final straw that got me upset was that the table next to us had a person with a birthday and they got recognized for that, but the couple that we had there for there anniversary, got nothing and were not recognized even though we told the restaurant. We spent a lot of money for dinner, it was very good, but overall, I was disappointed in the timing of our food delivery and not having our couple recognized for their anniversary. read more

We went Garibaldi for our anniversary dinner last night. I had called and requested to be upstairs near the window which the accommodated. The room is pretty , lots of mirrors. The wine list they have is pretty extensive so that's nice. My wife had the gumbo to start .. it was very good! I had the Bloody Mary. Oysters and bloody hell are they delicious! For a main I ordered the diamond scored flounder. I must say this fish was soooooooo good! Every bite I was a happy man. Now the orzo and vegetables that came with the fish were kinda bland and didn't care for them. My wife had the saffron seafood pot. While the broth was tasty there was not much of it. And her dish was not hot. Came out luke warm. The clams and mussels were a tab over cooked. This dish was a let down. Garibaldis is a nice date night restaurant. read more

Very good go for a tourist area. Had Mahi and wife has scallops. Both were excellent. Mahi was char-broiled to perfection, moist and tasty. Risotto was cooked perfect. Top that off with a creme brûlée and your are all set. So what is great food without great service, they delivered. To earn five stars they needed to cut the mahi a little thicker and throw another scallop on my wife's plate. This was tough going between four and five stars. In the end, just a bit more protein on the plate and there is nothing they can improve on. read more

A delightful and delicious dining experience. We were seated at our scheduled time in the beautiful upstairs dining room. The walls are tastefully decorated in historical mirror coverings. The floors are the historical wood flooring but the ceiling is high enough to capture the room noise. Though the room was full the noise was not bad. Our Wait staff was pristinely attired in black and white and very gracious. We order the Caesar Salad and Heart of Palm salad. Both were generous portions of specialty salads with delicious dressings. My wife ordered the pan seared flounder seasoned in a striking mango sauce. It was prepared perfectly and tasty enough to make me regret that I didn't order it also. It was accompanied with squash straws and rice. I ordered the delicious carbonara which tastefully Included an abundance of pasta shells, bacon and peas in a creamy sauce from heaven. We went there for my Birthday and while the service was amazing the food was absolute trash. I was hoping for something better based on rating and overall decor. The food we had was so terrible we had to wipe our mouths with our napkins. Upon telling the manager he said that he was sorry that the food was not up to my standards and then called me trash. I've never in my life been treated this way. I'll never return and I'd never recommend this restaurant to anyone. The only upside is that they did not charge us for the terrible food. The appetizers were ok but those were shrimp cocktails and mussels, kind of hard to mess that up. PS - the manager is a complete asshole. read more

Another fantastic dinner at Garibaldi's in Savannah. I always want to try something else but their signature flounder with apricot chutney is my go to time after time and my husband, the "land lubber", loves their veal Parmigiano. My first and only 1 star review..We ate there for our Anniversary dinner and were sat in the dark dining room in the corner on a bumpy seated booth! Then our waiter was very slow to attend, get our order and bring bread and refill drinks. Very disappointed they don't offer any gluten free pastas! I ended up ordering a side salad for my anniversary! :(. My husband on the other hand splurged and bought this expensive seafood platter!!! ($38 I think) Oysters Rockefeller, muscles, clams and what were told: HUGE MAIN LOBSTER TAILS! No, no, no! The platter was small, the food all smooshed together and the tails were tiny and ice cold! I'm talking right out of the refrigerator cold! He notified the waiter who abruptly told us that's how it's served. My husband disagreed that they should be steamed. He argued and said they were served over ice! He would not take any of our food back!! We ordered an appetizer of stuffed mushrooms...expensive and just 6 tiny ones!! We quickly ate as we were so disappointed! I told my husband I wanted to see the upstairs (which was supposed to be a beautiful white high ceiling dining room and where we asked to be seated) and then I walked over to talk to the manager! He was Totally unapologetic! Didn't even offer dessert, a refund or an I'm sorry. I was upset and said you really should take this all off our expensive bill as it was a horrible experience! We were told this was the sister restaurant to the pink house, (which was booked up for our anniversary, so they told us to try here) but he would not confirm or deny! I even asked if we could asked again to have them just remove his meal and he reluctantly agreed. Did not seem to really care though that our Anniversary dinner was so disappointing and we were treated poorly!! Seriously, just an "I'm sorry this didn't work out" would have been nice! Garibaldi Cafe last night out on our honeymoon 11/1.   Here is our timeline.  You draw your own conclusions. -7:15 Reservations, we were 5 minutes late -7:20 arrived  -7:25 seated at table -7:30 ordered 2 glasses of wine -7:35 ordered entrees and a salad  -7:48 salad was delivered to the table, had to remind them to bring bread  -7:50 waiter takes photo for us to comemorate our honeymoon  -8:10 salad plate taken, we ask about the eta on our food. We are told the kitchen is backed up but it should be ready soon. -8:20 new utensils brought (later seen as stall tactic) told food is on its way -8:30 waiter signals my wife while picking up a check from another table that our food is coming -8:40 we leave $30 on table to cover the glasses of wine and salad then leave. We did speak to the manager on the way out and he did say the food was now ready but that was too little too late.  We had changed our reservations from another nice restaurant on Drayden Ave because of reviews and based on a friend that lived in Savannah. Funny thing in the picture we had taken there was a party of 5 in the background that was still looking over their menus and they received their meals before us.  This happened with a party of 2 nearby too but we just thought it was a possible easy order to fill.   We were pretty disappointed as we walked out after looking forward to this all week.  But we made the most of it and found another place. read more

This place is lovely. The upstairs dining area is very pretty and the space is so open, it doesn't feel crowded. The food is delicious. We went in for an early dinner and was able to get a reservation a couple hours prior to the reservation time. Lunch reservations are much easier to book last minute than dinner, and that goes for the whole city not just Garibaldis. This will make a great date night spot for my husband and I. Upscale restaurant right off of city market! The walls are black and ceilings are gold. I loved the decor! We ordered oysters and they were fantastic. We had a great dinner here! Loved the wine sauce on the Mussles that we got as appetiser. My husband got the Seafood pasta, I tried it and it was very good, I was kind of thinking to switch it with my Scallops with risotto hahah. Both dishes were good and then dessert came and we were impressed again. The Raspberry sorbet was amazing and the Berry basket was tasty as well. The decor is very nice and our waiter was professional and pleasant. When i made the reservation trough Open table i was asked if there is any special occasion reason for our reservation and I chose "birthday" but nothing was mentioned after our arrival. I have also mentioned i would prefer a table on the second floor because it was more romantic and spacious. The table request was honored. Have been here twice now and it's a really cozy, quaint, place for an upscale meal. The service was friendlier sitting at a table than at the bar. Didn't get a cloth napkin till we asked and didn't get any take home utensils for our leftovers. I got the Lobster pasta and there was a good amount of lobster but the sauce didn't have a ton of flavor. The French union soup was fabulous. My partner got the NY strip and really enjoyed it (maybe too much sauce/Gorgonzola but was cooked very well). Great Xmas decorations. read more

This place was a miss for us. My halibut special was beyond overcooked, so it was sent back. Husband has NY strip which was good. Server was overwhelmed as there were no bussers or food runners. So service was very slow. But for some strange reason they had 3 people at the hostess stand, which made no sense. They should repurpose this folks onto the dining floor. read more

Wife loved her lobster pasta, but my seafood alfredo dish was a bit tart....too heavy on the lemon. The server was great bringing his manager over to assess, but was shocked when check arrived and my partially eaten meal wasn't comped. Not the best customer service decision. I think the reason this restaurant gets mixed reviews is that their strength is in northern italian cuisine. It is not a place to go expecting tomato sauce dishes. You can expect excellent risotto and other northern italian dishes. We had an excellent meal here recently. Great duck & fish entrees. Attentive service. The night after Valentines was our celebration of love after the crowds did their celebrating on the 14th. We had reservations for 6 pm but arrived about an hour early. The hostess found our name on the reservation list and then informed us that many reservations were ahead of us. There was ONE table being used by a couple. It was suggested that we go to the bar. Alrighty then! We were pleasantly treated by Tom the bartender. We had some cocktails (gin martini and vodka/rocks) and appetizers (shrimp cocktail). Twenty minutes after arriving we were told by the hostess that we could be seated at a table. At that point I was very comfortable where I was and told her no. You didn't want to give us a table and sent us here, so here is where we will stay. Every question we had about the menu (many!) was completely and professionally answered by Tom. We decided to stick with him. We ordered the Steak Diane and I had the specialty of the restaurant, a flounder dish. Excellent! We would give it a 5 star review if it weren't for the hostess not offering us a table when we arrived. It was bizarre. read more

The wait staff was very nice and very knowledgeable about the menu and the daily specials. I HIGHLY recommend ordering a strawberry margarita, the tequila they use(according to the waiter) is specially made and ordered for the restaurant. We had the She Crab Soup as our appetizer and it came in a big bowl, I was only expecting a small cup. It was very good with big chunks of crab meat and a little bit of spice. We walked in on a Friday night hoping to get a table with no reservations, that's definitely not a good idea. Please make reservations. Inside had a very upscale feel, it was warm, dimly lit and inviting. I was with my girlfriends but definitely felt like I should have been with my husband. We lucked out and were able to grab a seat at the bar. We were immediately greeted and served. The restaurant was busy, but the staff was on top of everything so you didn't even know. You MUST order the lamb ribs! Matter of fact order two, you will thank me later. Ask about the specials, if the She Crab Soup is offered get that too! For our main course we ordered the Crispy Founder, Lobster Rabini and a fish that was on the special menu. Our entrees were just ok, we would have been satisfied with more appetizers instead. They are known for their flounder dish but mine was a little mushy and very under seasoned, but as I stated we throughly enjoyed the appetizers and drinks! The overall experience was disappointing. The main floor dining room was deafening loud. We were seated upstairs and a little better, but conversation had to be almost shouted to be heard. The service was over taxed. The server was overly task loaded and was consistently late with water, drinks and food. When the main course was served, the vegetables were cold and there was a crust on the risotto from the warming lights. The food choices were inconsistent. Traditional Italian is the strong suit, steer clear of the "crispy duck"; it was not crispy and quite tough (maybe expected for an Italian restaurant). Rarely do I offer five stars. I reserve such a score for the best of the best. Garibaldi's absolutely deserves the full nu,her. It is a lovely restaurant. It is high class, comfortable and they take COVID 19 restrictions seriously. The service is exceptional. We sat in a very pleasant booth and ordered drinks. Then we listened to the wait staff recite the specials. Man, this restaurant offers such great sounding food. My wife ordered swordfish, I ordered pasta. The food was of the very highest quality and the portions were enormous. On top of large appetizers which were also excellent, the main course almost finished us off....but not quite. We finished with crime brûlée. Fabulous! If there was any criticism it was that they only offered French press coffee. That's really not enough for a restaurant of this caliber. It is expensive, but worth every cent...except for the very ordinary coffee. But, we will return without question. Garibaldi's is a class above most and merely confirms our belief that Savannah (and Charleston) have some of the best food, served in some of the best restaurants which we have experienced anywhere in the United States. read more

This place wreaks of times when old school gangsta roamed around. I almost thought I was in Chicago somewhere. Garibaldi reminded me and made me think of mobsters and villains from back in the day. We came here on a suggestion from the shoe salesman at the Sperry store and from the minute we stepped in no regrets! We sat at the bar and were greeted and served drinks right away. One thing I love about eating at the bar is the service you get. Up close and personal with great conversation. We laughed and whooped it up with two very attentive but not overly attentive waitstaff. I could tell our evening and the food was going to be spot on and it was. We first orderd up some appetizers including crab stuffed mushrooms and calamari. Both were excellent and the calamari was particularly light and crunchy with a dipping sauce that was apricot shallot sauce that was out of this world. Next up dinner. Wife had the linguine primavera. Portion was big as a pasta dish should be and had an abundance of artichoke hearts, goat cheese and shiitake mushrooms. Wifey enjoyed her dish oh so much! She even had some leftovers to bring back home! I had the seafood fettuccine Alfredo which again had an abundant amount of pasta and seafood including scallops, shrimp and mussels! This was one of the best seafood fettuccine's I've had in quite some time. Both dishes came out piping hot and had the availability of fresh cracked pepper and shaved Parmesan if desired!
