This place wreaks of times when old school gangsta roamed around. I almost thought I was in Chicago somewhere. Garibaldi reminded me and made me think of mobsters and villains from back in the day. We came here on a suggestion from the shoe salesman at the Sperry store and from the minute we stepped in no regrets! We sat at the bar and were greeted and served drinks right away. One thing I love about eating at the bar is the service you get. Up close and personal with great conversation. We laughed and whooped it up with two very attentive but not overly attentive waitstaff. I could tell our evening and the food was going to be spot on and it was. We first orderd up some appetizers including crab stuffed mushrooms and calamari. Both were excellent and the calamari was particularly light and crunchy with a dipping sauce that was apricot shallot sauce that was out of this world. Next up dinner. Wife had the linguine primavera. Portion was big as a pasta dish should be and had an abundance of artichoke hearts, goat cheese and shiitake mushrooms. Wifey enjoyed her dish oh so much! She even had some leftovers to bring back home! I had the seafood fettuccine Alfredo which again had an abundant amount of pasta and seafood including scallops, shrimp and mussels! This was one of the best seafood fettuccine's I've had in quite some time. Both dishes came out piping hot and had the availability of fresh cracked pepper and shaved Parmesan if desired! W.O.W. This is my new favorite splurge restaurant! We came here for dinner on a whim when Alex's parents were in town. It was so good, we even went a second time before they left Savannah! Alex's mom (who used to have a restaurant in Spain) said this place was "extraordinary," and she does not use that term lightly. Here is a run-down of what we tried: Drinks: * Wake me in Manhattan - very chicory but it definitely grew on me. * The PB&J - showstopper! Light, fruity with hints of jalapeño and a strong basil smell. I loved this drink. (Drink pours are not the same night-to-night though.) Appetizers: * French onion soup - Alex and his mom were over the moon for this soup. He said it was a little salty but his mom said it was perfect. * Caprese salad - solid appetizer. Fresh mozzarella and a tasty balsamic reduction. It's a good gluten-free option to get since they bring the bread to the table. Mains: * Saffron seafood pot - better the second time we went. That time the broth was thicker, and came with toast to dip it in. * Seared salmon - huge hit! So moist. Solid the second time around too. * Lobster pasta - Alex wished it had more shrimp (Alex loves garlic and shrimp). * Crispy flounder - incredible! Showstopper! Enough for 2! I asked for no gluten, garlic or onions because of food sensitivities. Unfortunately the julienne veggies came out with onions; they subbed the other side for green beans. * Veal (swapped risotto for mashed potatoes) - Veal piece was GIANT. Enough for 2 people. Mashed potatoes were buttery. * Seared sea scallops (same swap, no sauce) - only came with 3 scallops, but they were cooked perfectly. Very moist and soft with a great sear. I somehow got a piece of pasta in my mashed potatoes, and I have a gluten sensitivity, so watch out for this. Desserts: * Almond berry basket - My favorite. Bennett seed cup was surprisingly good. * Belgian flourless chocolate torte - small portion but very rich. Also paired very well with a piece of the Bennett cup ;-) Bobby was a great server too! Very attentive and had a careful eye for details. Also the second night we made a reservation. They sat us at a much roomier table, so I recommend getting reservations. Had a fantastic dinner here on my last night in Savannah! We didn't have reservations on a Monday night and still managed to snag a table for two on the beautiful second floor. Service was as amazing as you'd expect and the food and drinks were even better. We had the chicken francese and the steak Diane dishes. Both were what you could consider small portions but still very filling! The francese was the better dish of the two, while it was a bit on the saltier side. We finished dinner with a delicious creme brulee. Cocktails were delicious also. We had the PB&J (pineapple, Bacardi and jalapeno syrup) and the mule. Both were so light and refreshing but the PB&J was the tastier drink. The jalapeno syrup was a great small kick to the refreshingly sweet drink. Excellent Service with Delectable Food We had 5:00 pm reservations with this restaurant and the doors opened a few minutes early so we were seated right at five pm. Our server was Adam and he was extremely attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients in various dishes. As soon as we sat water was brought to us, our drink order was taken and we were told the specials. Adam went to get our drinks and brought hot bread with whipped butter to the table. You know you're in for a treat when the bread is fresh baked and butter perfectly salted! We got the shrimp risotto cake for appetizer and I ordered the swordfish special. Ron got the veal chop. My dish came with risotto and asparagus and his came with mashed potatoes, green beans and mushrooms. For dessert and had the berry basket and Ron had the creme brûlée. He asked for fresh fruit to be added and they sent a bowl of raspberries and strawberries along. There is a lot of attention to detail in the care the staff provides. The manager came by, was always watching to see if anyone needed anything. We are already planning our next trip back! read more

Food: First off, they can accommodate gluten-free and they do it very well. Basically, the entire menu of dinner entries is open to you! We had dinner at this gem last night. Very, very pleased with the meal. For appetizers, we had half a dozen oysters on the half shell served steamed. This came with two sauces and the green one was my favorite. They also split the hearts of palm salad with was very fresh, covered in a plethora of raw mushrooms, and the perfect dressing. For dinner, I got the grouper fish special which came with pear, mango, red curry cream sauce, asparagus, and crab risotto on the bottom. This fish dish was the bomb. The fish was perfectly flaky, odorless, and the flavors and consistency went together in such a magical way it reminded me of the creative things Icelandic people do with fish. This was by no means a bare fillet with some herbs and lemon on it. My husband got the Veal Chop Au Poivre. This came with very delicate, crisp green beans, creamy wild mushroom brandy sauce, and mashed potatoes. This dish was perfect. Basically, everything we had there was 5 stars. Drinks: The restaurant has an extensive wine selection and we were very happy with every glass we choose. My predinner drink was off their special drink menu and it was a grapefruit spritzer. This drink was sweet but not overly so and it was a nice appretif. Decor: This place is a classic old school done well and not tired. The Christmas decorations were to the entire restaurant and tasteful. On a cold night, if you are sitting at the far end of the bar, you will get an occasional gust of cold wind when someone enters. read more

Stopped here one evening 30 minutes before closing, exhausted from 2 long days of driving and, unfortunately, a little bedraggled. The staff couldn't have been kinder or more accommodating and welcoming. My waiter was an absolute sweetheart and everyone was very friendly. My first meal at a warm and cozy but nice restaurant this year since the pandemic hit, and boy was it enjoyable to feel some normalcy again. Oysters were fresh with a fantastic jalapeño mignonette, ceasar was the best I've had in a very long time, and the veal picatta was tender with perfectly al dente angel hair (my favorite). Went with a group of 8 for dinner here one night last week. The atmosphere was beautiful. We were seated (5:30 reservation so it wasn't busy) and it took 30 minutes to get our drinks. Ordered appetizers and entrees. The food was literally inedible. They said the special was "sea bass" so several in our group ordered. It wasn't sea bass. They explained what type it was (I can't remember now) but they should have explained it up front. I had the chicken picante and the chicken was rubber. The pasta had no lemon or caper flavor at all. Not really even sure what it tasted like other than really bad. One other got veal Parmesan and she couldn't even cut the veal. To their credit, when we complained the took the entrees off the bill and were very apologetic. I did appreciate that but it was a very disappointing meal. We won't be going back. read more

I'm telling you, the only thing missing was a blankie and pacifier! Husband quickly succumbed to bourbon bliss, while I was in chardonnay and lemon basil martini nirvana. FRESH...awesome! Starving, we started with the Fried Shrimp Appetizer. Oh my! FRIED SHRIMP Sweet Chili Aioli, Jalapeño Crème Fraîche, Homemade Spicy Chips 8 Thank me later, just GET it! Shrimp perfectly cooked, dippings sweet & spicy and the chips are thin and tasty...swoon! Even simple bread and butter was wonderful. But bring on the entrees and I'm feeling tingly just remembering! Guys on either side of us were raving over their favorite Crispy Diamond Scored Flounder, and boy did it look awesome! When I told him, he quickly came up with a plan for my PERFECT meal...half linguine primavera minus mushrooms and goat cheese, plus spinach, and plus a lobster tail. I LOVE you Charlie. We really did have a DD pick us up. Ok...to the food. Backstory: we've lived in Savannah a little over 2 years and love trying new restaurants. This was one of the best meals we've had here. On any vacation you have some things that are a hit and some that miss. Garibaldi's was a real miss! Poor service, unimpressive food, and a very weak, small wine list. We dined on Sunday night. Our server was in attentive and distracted most of the night. She never offered any if their specials but we heard other servers doing so across the restaurant. Shrimp Cocktail was served with lukewarm seafood, wine glasses had spots on them, and food prep was very slow. I ordered their signature dish - Crispy Scored Flounder and it was too sweet for my taste, smothered in an apricot sauce so completely that you couldn't taste the fish. My wife ordered the seared scallops (served with three if them) and we both thought this should be their signature dish. We spoke to the manager, gave him our opinions and criticism and he immediately took it upon himself to scold our server. He then came back to our table and said "Sometimes you need to get rid if some people to make things better." We were shocked with his unprofessional comment. We entered on Sunday at 9:30 on Labor Day weekend. When we were seated we were instructed that the kitchen was closing shortly but they agreed to seat us as long as we ordered promptly. The scallops were good. However the Creme Brûlée was lackluster at best. I will admit I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to Creme Brûlée but this was not it. My boyfriend and I came here while visiting Savannah from out of town for my birthday dinner. It was a 1000/10 experience. The vibes were great. Our server Arnold was so nice and gave us great recommendations. I highly recommend the calamari. The sauce it comes with was like crack. My boyfriend got the duck and it nearly brought him to tears he enjoyed it so much. I got the chicken piccata which was also fabulous. They called my boyfriend before the reservation to ask which complimentary dessert they should bring over. We chose the bourbon pecan pie which must have also had crack in it. Not to be dramatic but it was the best dessert I've had in my 25 years. Overall Garibaldi's was a phenomenal time and if you're visiting Savannah you should definitely give it a try. read more

I've been multiple times, and the experience never disappoints! On my most recent visit, my boyfriend and I made reservations in advance. We were seated at a cute little table in the corner of the downstairs restaurant. Our server (I believe his name was Gary?) was fantastic! He was so attentive without being overbearing. The wine list is extensive, and we both found drinks that we loved. We ordered the cheese plate, which was the perfect size for a starter. Who doesn't love a good cheese plate? For entrees, I got the seared scallops and the boyfriend got the NY strip. Wow! These entrees were way bigger than what we were expecting, and they were so delicious. I've never seen my boyfriend not finish a steak before, and even though he tried his hardest, he couldn't eat the whole thing! He said it was one of his best meals in Savannah. My scallops were amazingly decadent served with a ham risotto. I highly recommend both of these meals! I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. It is seriously so beautiful inside, and the food is delicious. It may be on the pricier side, but the entrees are large and totally worth it. Absolutely delicious. I went on Thanksgiving for a light lunch, but ordered off the regular menu. Had the soup du jour (black-eyed pea and lentil) and Shrimp Risotto Cake off the appetizer menu. The risotto cake seemed a little dry at first, but then when you dip it in the cream sauce and have it with a little bit of shrimp and bacon it is transformed into something great. The pea and lentil soup was very creamy and savory--just to my liking. I would definitely come back to try more of the seafood and pasta dishes when I'm not trying to save my appetite. read more

I had a really great experience at Garibaldi's. I did find the menu to be a little larger than what i expected when dining with a fine dining establishment. I got the feeling that they were torn between wanting to be an Italian or seafood place. That being said I went with the seafood and was pleased with the decision. Meal started off with Bloody Mary Oysters. These were pretty good, oysters on the half shell with Bloody Mary mix and sliced jalepenos. Blackened Georgia grouper was the main course. Couldn't have been fresher unless I cooked it on the boat from which it was caught. The waiter was really knowledgable and even recommended a wine that went well with both of the main courses which my dining companion and I were enjoying. You certainly need to try the place if ever in Savannah, GA as I certainly will when I return. read more

Vacationed in Savannah from Mass. Went to eat here and was told we needed reservations. Thankfully a gentleman who was a regular there got us in. Atmosphere was beautiful, waitress was nice. I ordered Steak Diane, loved it. Husband got scallops, they were okay expensive and you only get 3 of them. Son got chicken parm and is picky about his sauce and said it tasted like pizza sauce and not spaghetti sauce, I didn't try it but I'm guessing that was oregano he was tasting. I would definitely be back but I'm not a reservation girl, I like to be free and fly by the seat of my pants on vacation. It was a nice experience though. Food, atmosphere and service was great.
