    French onion soup
    Elizabeth G.

The man from the bookstore across the street recommended this spot for us when we asked him about a "good bite on the water". He did not steer us wrong. We weren't starving but licked our plates clean anyway. We started with the French onion soup (even though it was probably 80° with the sun beating down on us). The soup was phenomenal. My boyfriend got the fish tacos and said they were awesome, he just wished they came with 3 instead of 2. The homemade potato chips were a nice touch on the side. I got the butternut ravioli salad and added grilled chicken to it. This was SO good. The salad was refreshing but also hearty, perfect amount of dressing, fresh ingredients, and seasonal with the ravioli on top. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outdoor seating overlooking the lake was so relaxing and we overheard the tables next to us talking about how much they and their families love the restaurant as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Hannah was our server and was super attentive and nice. One thing to note is we overheard them talking about the restaurant closing after Halloween and reopening in July (I believe). Seems like this is the first time they're doing a lengthy closing, and the locals next to us had no idea, so just call to check that they're open if you're looking to visit!

Went with the girls and it was great! The server was amazing! The machines went down twice when we needed to pay but she quickly got it through before it happened again! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Perfect outdoor setting on the lake made for a wonderful setting to have lunch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had the cheesesteak and it was so delicious! Others had the quesadillas, which looked amazing as well, and the chicken entree which was super tender and delicious! Would definitely visit again!

Outlook from our table at Garwoods.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Lovely view.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Efficient, friendly server (thanks Sarah). Tried something different this time - two appetisers: crabcakes and nachos with guacamole. Both were very good and both gluten free. Could do with a bit more heat like jalapeños in the nachos but flavour was good. Crabcakes stuffed with crab and not filler.

    Great view.

GET A WINDOW SEAT I've been meaning to write this review for awhile. We stopped in at the beginning of the year. Sparsely occupied because of covid. Nicely decorated. Warmly greeted. Seated by the window overlooking Wolfeboro Bay. Trifecta: Great service, tasty food, and great view.

Food was great. Salads and good selection. So was service. Beer list is nice and the view of the lake is great.

I ordered the lobster dinner - when the lobster arrived, the shell was rock hard and EXTREMELY hard to open. Everyone else was done with their meal, and I was still working on the first claw!. Then to make matters worse, the lobster meat was far from sweet and had an ammonia like odor, leading me to believe it had been in the tank way too long. As if that wasn't enough, the corn on the cob was dried out and tasteless - I only took one bite. I hesitated to bring this to the server's attention as I was there with my family to celebrate my 70th birthday, and I didn't want to make a fuss. Let's just say I will not be ordering lobster there again, and am hesitant to go back at all!

The wait on a Saturday at 5 was fifty minutes. We asked if we could order drinks or some appetizers for the kids to pick on and we never got an answer. Seating at the bar was really hard to get also. There was only one little spot to stand and wait for a drink and it took a very long time. Once you're in though, the food it's great and there is a nice view of the lake. You may even get to see some water skiers working on their jumps. There are some picnic tables out near the boats if you're just coming back from a day on the lake. Prices were reasonable, large portions and everyone left full. I had the fish sandwich. It was a fresh filet, lightly batter and lots of fries.

This is a community favorite and for good reason: the seafood is exceptionally cooked and the classic lakeside, vintage feel is approachable and still well maintained. This trip, we went to Morrissey's three times for lunch/ice cream and once for dinner. For dinner, we sat in the main dining room. Admittedly, service was a bit slower than some people liked in our party (but I was okay with waiting for it, I'm on lake time!) that was the only qualm we had at dinner was how the service was slow because they are obviously understaffed. When we came for lunch with a smaller party, we decided to sit at the bar instead which is on the other side of the building and more of a dive bar feel: an Irish pub. All of the meals were great, but we preferred sitting in the bar and got much faster service there during our lunch. Of all of the food we've tried, my favorites were the fried scallop and the Cajun shrimp bruschetta. And the Mac and cheese was yummy! But everything has tasted great! And you can't go wrong with some ice cream! Make a reservation if you're planning on doing dinner, but expect a slower pace. So maybe have a snack or don't come starving and know it will be a little slower. But worth the wait in my opinion! Or sit at the bar if you're okay with music and a little bit of a louder environment during your meal with your party.

We always enjoy the setting when we go with friends ... not a huge spot, but we can usually find a table if we plan ahead. Very cool environment, even though it is kind of out of the way compared to the rest of Wolfeboro. The service used to be a little more iffy, but in recent visits we've had a great experience. The salad appeared to have been dressed with apple sauce mixed with water(!) and nothing else, and the pork chop tasted of ammonia and some other chemical. It was dry and inedible. Took one small bite, even though the smell was entirely off-putting. Tossed in the trash at home. A very expensive experience for what it was. The one star is for the welcoming and amiable wait staff. In spite of the super cold dining room in which we were seated (some of the folks in our party, including me, resorted to wearing coats and hats during the meal to get warm!), they were cheerful and attentive. The cook did come out into the dining room toward the very end of the evening and put the wall-mounted heater on, which took some of the edge off the cold. Lastly, on exiting the building, watch your step! There's a drop of about 2 feet as you approach the door to the parking lot. Anyone with mobility challenges may be unable to navigate this and/or the black ice in the parking lot.

When I ordered it, the waitress told me it would take about 20 minutes to make this dish. As that is customary for this dish, I ordered it. My wife ordered a chicken burrito.. While waiting, we got to checkout the place and we really liked how unpretentious it was. It just felt like a down home place to eat. When dinner arrived, the burrito looked huge and the presentation was a nice touch. As for the Paella, not only did it look good, it was without a doubt the best I have ever had. Both meals were big enough that we both brought half our dinners home. I've seen comments about it being expensive, sorry but, we go out to eat a few times a month and the meal here was basically the same as we pay for most dinners we get. if you are looking for something a little more authentic than most places around here, this is THE place. It became disappointing when the food started to arrive. We got chips and guac and the guac had an overwhelming amount of onion in it. Ok, fine, we were then looking forward to our mains. We ordered the Chicken Enchiladas and the Tostadas. Both had what we would guess as unseasoned boiled chicken. UNSEASONED chicken in a restaurant feels crazy, borderline offensive. Like so bland and boring, and the tortilla the enchiladas came in felt uncooked? So unseasoned chicken in an uncooked tortilla. Really disappointing. I ordered a side of beans (sort of assumed it would come with a side of rice or beans) and it took like 15 mins to come to the table. I wanted to eat them together so I sat with bland food in front of me for 15 mins until the beans could come. Served was busy but didn't check back in on us once the food was dropped. For the price, the food, and the long wait that came with it, I wouldn't recommend spending your money here. :/
