    French onion soup
    Elizabeth G.

The man from the bookstore across the street recommended this spot for us when we asked him about a "good bite on the water". He did not steer us wrong. We weren't starving but licked our plates clean anyway. We started with the French onion soup (even though it was probably 80° with the sun beating down on us). The soup was phenomenal. My boyfriend got the fish tacos and said they were awesome, he just wished they came with 3 instead of 2. The homemade potato chips were a nice touch on the side. I got the butternut ravioli salad and added grilled chicken to it. This was SO good. The salad was refreshing but also hearty, perfect amount of dressing, fresh ingredients, and seasonal with the ravioli on top. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outdoor seating overlooking the lake was so relaxing and we overheard the tables next to us talking about how much they and their families love the restaurant as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Hannah was our server and was super attentive and nice. One thing to note is we overheard them talking about the restaurant closing after Halloween and reopening in July (I believe). Seems like this is the first time they're doing a lengthy closing, and the locals next to us had no idea, so just call to check that they're open if you're looking to visit!

Went with the girls and it was great! The server was amazing! The machines went down twice when we needed to pay but she quickly got it through before it happened again! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Perfect outdoor setting on the lake made for a wonderful setting to have lunch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had the cheesesteak and it was so delicious! Others had the quesadillas, which looked amazing as well, and the chicken entree which was super tender and delicious! Would definitely visit again!

Outlook from our table at Garwoods.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Lovely view.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Efficient, friendly server (thanks Sarah). Tried something different this time - two appetisers: crabcakes and nachos with guacamole. Both were very good and both gluten free. Could do with a bit more heat like jalapeños in the nachos but flavour was good. Crabcakes stuffed with crab and not filler.

    Great view.

GET A WINDOW SEAT I've been meaning to write this review for awhile. We stopped in at the beginning of the year. Sparsely occupied because of covid. Nicely decorated. Warmly greeted. Seated by the window overlooking Wolfeboro Bay. Trifecta: Great service, tasty food, and great view.

Perfect location. Extremely disappointed sign says "do not feed the ducks" and the waitresses were dumping leftover drinks into the lake. Bizarre. Fish was yummy flavor but overcook & dry. Burger was yummy. Service was blah. Expensive.

But this cool, historic tavern is still alive and well! Come show some local support. We are Rhode Islanders, and have been coming up here for almost 40 years, and this place holds a dear, sweet place in our heart. We did not partake in food this time around, but it looked and smelled amazing. The drinks/wine were wonderful. Give them a shot! You won't be disappointed!

I'm going to assume it was the bartender, who was shockingly rude, sarcastic, and disrespectful, to say the very least. Not my first experience with this bartender either. The bartender's and server's at Wolfe's Tavern are absolutely horrible. They have reprehensible attitudes and are colossally rude to customers. I asked for a simple clarification of their operating hours. This man was indignant and impolite, calling me out for bringing a discrepancy to his attention!! Uh..what?! I've been a resident of Wolfeboro, NH, for 70 years. This establishment once stood as the landmark for elegant dining, professional and competent administration and staff, and was respected throughout the Lakes Region. You once had an Executive Chef named "Hoke" many, many years ago...a quintessential gentleman with great culinary expertise, who frequently would come out of the kitchen, go table to table, introduce himself to all the patrons, and ask them if their meals were up to their liking. This man "made" The Wolfeboro Inn, almost singlehandedly. When he resigned because of a difficulty with management, the place plummeted...nearly overnight. Fast forward to August, 2025, and it is now worse than ever. I'd recommend Dunkin' Donuts on Center Street, or The Bay Diner on Main ahead of here. It's no wonder today's bartender refused to give his first name...no doubt fearful of this review(!) or one in The Granite State News, aka "The Grunter."

We were seated on the second floor deck looking out Lake Winnipesaukee. Our server, Kayden, was excellent! He took great care of us! For our dinner my wife ordered their chicken tenders and I their southwest salad adding blackened salmon rare. During our last visit, I was very disappointed, and how my salmon came out, not blackened and well done. I was very happy to see that my salmon was indeed rare and blackened! Great work, thank you! My salad overall was absolutely delicious and my wife enjoyed her huge order of chicken tenders and homemade chips! Great visit this time both the food and our server were excellent! Unfortunately, it is probably our last visit this trip. Looking forward to our next!

This is a community favorite and for good reason: the seafood is exceptionally cooked and the classic lakeside, vintage feel is approachable and still well maintained. This trip, we went to Morrissey's three times for lunch/ice cream and once for dinner. For dinner, we sat in the main dining room. Admittedly, service was a bit slower than some people liked in our party (but I was okay with waiting for it, I'm on lake time!) that was the only qualm we had at dinner was how the service was slow because they are obviously understaffed. When we came for lunch with a smaller party, we decided to sit at the bar instead which is on the other side of the building and more of a dive bar feel: an Irish pub. All of the meals were great, but we preferred sitting in the bar and got much faster service there during our lunch. Of all of the food we've tried, my favorites were the fried scallop and the Cajun shrimp bruschetta. And the Mac and cheese was yummy! But everything has tasted great! And you can't go wrong with some ice cream! Make a reservation if you're planning on doing dinner, but expect a slower pace. So maybe have a snack or don't come starving and know it will be a little slower. But worth the wait in my opinion! Or sit at the bar if you're okay with music and a little bit of a louder environment during your meal with your party.

We always enjoy the setting when we go with friends ... not a huge spot, but we can usually find a table if we plan ahead. The salad appeared to have been dressed with apple sauce mixed with water(!) and nothing else, and the pork chop tasted of ammonia and some other chemical. It was dry and inedible. Took one small bite, even though the smell was entirely off-putting. Tossed in the trash at home. A very expensive experience for what it was. The one star is for the welcoming and amiable wait staff. In spite of the super cold dining room in which we were seated (some of the folks in our party, including me, resorted to wearing coats and hats during the meal to get warm!), they were cheerful and attentive. The cook did come out into the dining room toward the very end of the evening and put the wall-mounted heater on, which took some of the edge off the cold. Lastly, on exiting the building, watch your step! There's a drop of about 2 feet as you approach the door to the parking lot. Anyone with mobility challenges may be unable to navigate this and/or the black ice in the parking lot.
