Came here on a busy Saturday night and found a seat at the bar. The whole restaurant was very busy and I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted immediately by the bartenders and immediately served a drink. Eventually a few of my friends showed up and we ordered some food as well. The wings were delicious and came out fast and hot. The bar staff kept our drinks coming and no one at the bar seemed to have to wait long for anything. There are a ton of TVs here which make this Gators for than ideal for sports fans. As someone who prefers to sit at the bar over tables, I love that part of their bar seating is outside. They also have tables outside for those who prefer that sort of thing. I'm ready for football season to start so I can spend my Sunday Fundays here! read more

I live nearby and have been to this location many times. Often, it's mediocre service with mediocre food. However, I don't expect much when going to a sports bar so I've never complained and still go back on occasion. Last night was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. We sat down at the bar, where a blonde bartender had 4 other patrons. (one couple, and two guys.) She took drink orders, and food orders. I ordered a White Claw (of course) and my boyfriend had a Captain and Coke. A friend joined us, but she never came over to greet him or take any order from home. My boyfriend ordered six bone-in wings and a burger. Our food came out, and it was boneless wings. We informed the food runner, and he apologized and told us to keep the boneless wings and he would let the kitchen know. The bartender came out and as my boyfriend was about to take a bite of one of the wings, she snatched the plate from him and aggressively threw it in the trash. We were shocked. Our friend, a general manager of a well known restaurant, couldn't believe what he saw. He went to inform the on-duty manager of her poor behavior. During this, the couple asked why their food was cold... the bartender responded sarcastically "ha, because we serve cold food here." The manager was kind, and apologetic. She came over to comp our check, and sincerely apologize for our experience. At this time, the bartender came over to argue with us, and explain away her behavior with "being rushed"..(you have 4 people at the bar and a completely empty restaurant?) The manager asked her to please walk away, and she yelled at the manager saying "I NEED MY MOMENT." The unprofessional behavior and lack of common courtesy was embarrassing to watch. JELLY SKIN WINGS--- The past 3 times we have gotten wings at Gators they have had jelly skin, are chewy and inedible.

My boyfriend and I came down here for some food on Saturday night (fight night)! Every table was full and we were told there would be a wait... We opted for take out instead. No big deal. The menu is mostly bar food. There are a few twists in there, but don't expect a gourmet meal. Haha. We brought our food back to where we were watching the fight, and the food was still hot. I ordered boneless wings with honey barbecue sauce. They were a little dry to me, but the sauce was delicious. I can't really complain - wings are wings. He ordered a philly cheesesteak sandwich. It looked good and smelled good. No complaints from me and no complaints from him either. I've been to several Gator's Dockside locations across the state, and this one is pretty on par with most of them. It's a great will sports bar with a fairly large menu, a full bar, and a good wait staff. Their wings and gatortail are great options, but I haven't really had anything bad on the menu that I've tried. If you don't have your heart set on anything specific, it's definitely a place worth checking out. DeSoto location is really convenient as well, and it's walking distance to some decent shopping. read more

Where do I even begin. Came in last night on what I assume to be one of your busiest nights ( bottomless wing night / Monday night football ) . Was told by one of your THREE HOSTESSES, the wait was 30-45 minutes. I look at my girlfriend who also has worked in the service industry for the last 5 years to see if she was cool with it and she was, probably because she drove from Maitland as the one over by us is operated by drug addicts. Look back to one of the THREE HOSTESSES to confirm that we'd be willing to wait. She wasn't thrilled. In fact I think she was banking on the fact the "long" wait would detour us. But you all have a bar where I don't mind spending my hard earned money so logically, like any other adults....We decided to pass time drinking at your bar. Well, that was no easy process either. Upon arriving at the bar which was busy, I noticed you all decided it to be "efficient" to have one point of sales instead of two, which I believe to be one of the contributing factors of the bad service. *** this is my second week in a row giving you establishment it the 50th try ***. So, as I sat at the bar it took about 25 minutes to get a drink. I think the point of sales being at the opposite end of the bar allows your bar tending staff to get easily distracted, direct most their attention to the patrons sitting close by that point of sales and slows down any process of ringing anything up as they seem to have to take turns to use it. The oldest of the two bar tenders has never once done a good job behind that bar. In fact I struggle to find any reason as to how and why she still holds a job there..ESPECIALLY on high volume nights. Management, get your heads out of your ass. I have been ordering here consistently for the past few days and I can say the food here is great! The service is fine as I'm just ordering for to go due to the Coronavirus situation but the staff is very friendly. I order the grilled chicken dinner with mash potatoes and broccoli. The most important things I can say is the food is consistent. The chicken is always cooked perfectly and tender. Unfortunately there are a few restaurants in the area who do not fully cook their chicken, specifically firebirds on mills ave, where I got undercooked chicken 5 times in a row. Gators Dockside has yet to disappoint me. I've also tried the wingers with lemon pepper which were great but I'm trying to watch the belly during the stay at home order so I try to stick with the grilled chicken dinner. My complaint is with the front door service. I drive for a food delivery service When picking up an order even after showing the person the name and order on my phone he holds the order until hit order received even after I hit order pickup. When you hit order received it puts you as routed to your destination. Now some customers watch their driver every move ( as they should, it's their food) and if you have to park your car at a distance and it takes you a few minutes to get to your car the customer will see your vehicle haven't moved. Which would cause the customer to be concerned and will either give you a low rate and/ or take your tip away. Now I can understand things may have happened in the past but if the business was concerned about thief then leaving the food unattended in the front of the restaurant isn't practicing such a tight security system. Anyone can walk in and walk out with someone's food. I have picked up in the past and I never touched the bags I stood their and waited until someone helped me. The guy with the long hair doesn't even ask can you press it he demands like your his child. Other businesses usually have a duplicate receipt or even a log book for drivers to sign as a pickup because they understand that stating a delivery and you are no where near your vehicle can get you into trouble with the customer and the service that contracts you for food delivery. And I truly hope this practice is with every driver not just some. read more

Situated in a corner that has not typically done well over the past few years, this Gators follows the same beat as other chain wing places. Handy for nearby residents, the generous drink sizes make up for the generally middle of the road flavors. The service has been the so so unfortunately. On moderately busy nights or with large parties it has taken an exceptionally long time to order, get food, and get an accurate check. Average sports bar food. The menu changed recently, and unfortunately the Rueben didn't make the cut. They have a lot of TVs, so it's a fine place to catch a football game. The bar is open to the street, which gives it a nice, open ambiance. Their service is below average I'd say. We've been here a dozen or so times and every time it seems like it's the waiter or waitress's first day. From being exceptionally slow, awkward and unknowledgeable about the menu, we've had all sorts of waiters here. We will probably be back just because it's so gosh darn close, not because it's anything special. read more

I've been here twice. The first time was last February; I went to grab some brews with a homie, got their Parmesan wings and a few pitchers. We shivered from the AC blasting and our food came late and lukewarm. The waitress was nice but couldn't hold her excitement to get out of that place. She left smack dab at the top of the hour, leaving us a new server who was confused about who ordered what, resulting in three ticket reprints. Mediocre at best then. I returned for the Evans/Jones fight; showed up early for a good place at the bar then chugged and grubbed on Yuengling and Hot wings for 3+ hours, made some new friends and enjoyed the atmosphere. The bartenders were attentive and cool and redeemed my faith in this restaurant. Gators can be lame/waste-off-money in more than a few of their locations, but this is one of their better I guess. Typically service is sub par at best. Today a small group of coworkers and Myself (4total) stopped by for lunch a little after 1pm. We were told there would be a 45 minute wait for our food because the kitchen was backed up. There may have been 10 tables sat, tops, with a few people waiting on TO-GO orders at the front It was 1/2 off meal day, we go there regularly and pay full price, so it was a nice change to be offered half price for continued patronage. This place is horrible!!!! Came in on 8/29/16 at 10pm. I had a question about the signs clearly posted on the walls about happy hour out of curiosity wondering what it consisted of. Apparently there was a discrepancy about that this which no one had and idea about including the manager. Who came over to talk to me and explained that it wasn't really happy hour and that no discount would be reflected on my bill. He then asks me what I was drinking, and never came back. I just don't get it, this place has been open for at least 6 months and you think by now they would have it together. It's the craziest thing every time we are here the server takes for ever to greet us, usually completely forgets about us and usually gets the order wrong and takes forever to get our food. By no means is the food bad, that's the only reason we tend to return but honestly how long does it take to get your staff on point. By the end of the meal I'm standing up looking around for a manager or any server to ask for the check, it's almost laughable. I'm not a picky person. Generally you could say I am very easy to please. A cold beer, and greasy food are usually enough to satisfy me, but I do expect a certain basic level of service when I visit a restaurant, gators did not provide. Unfortunately, I'd love to tell you about their food and drinks, but I can't. My wife, son and I were seated at a high top and given menus. We sat and waited for a server to come by with water and to introduce themselves. We waited, and waited, and waited. After nearly 20 minutes of nobody even acknowledging our presence, we got up and left. Funny thing is, none of the staff even noticed us leaving. This is a solid, decent sports bar. I've been here several times, and there are a few highlights: - Convenient location in the SoDo area - Ample outdoor seating amid a relaxing setting - Plenty of tv screens for those who sit indoors or at the outside bar - A large menu with lots of variety There are some areas that could use a little improvement. The servers, while very friendly, are a bit forgetful... and have forgotten to ring up drinks / food every time I've come here. The food is fine, but I've yet to try something I love. I really love the location! Gators is known for their wings so when I got into town late on a Friday I figured coming here was a good idea. Close to downtown but much easier and free parking. If you can't find parking on the streets next to the restaurant you can go into the garage connected to Target. The place has lots of outdoor seating and all the windows open to the inside. It was a cold night out so I didn't mind the open air concept but was glad to be somewhat inside and way from the wind. Not sure how well this works on a Florida summer day. Staff was really friendly. My BF & I must have been told to have a nice Valentines Day weekend 5 times. (we went the Friday before Valentine's Day which was a Sunday) We were starving so we started with the nachos appetizer. Weakest nacho plate I have ever seen! Maybe because Graffiti does an amazing and lavish plate and I love that place but the plate was small, the didn't layer the ingredients and there wasn't much meat. We both ordered wings. They were good. I got boneless teriyaki which had a lot of sauce and good amount of meat not just all breeding. My Bf did the Siracha hot wings, he enjoyed them and the flavor. I feel like Siracha makes everything amazing! Fries don't come with the wings so we split a basket. They were supposed to be seasoned but they were pretty much plain fries with like 5 fries with a dash of seasoning. Nothing special but good for a quick meal if you are in the area. read more

Had lunch here yesterday with my father. I'm not from the area so finding the place was a bit of a pain. Really liked the atmosphere, a lot of TVs the with the football game on. A pitcher of beer was only 7.99 which is a very fair price. We ordered the app sampler, which had mozzarella sticks, fried onion chips and chicken fingers. It wasn't great, but it was ok. I had the Philly cheese steak which was very good and my father had the fish and chips which he also liked. Our waitress was very attentive and took good care of us. I recommend Gators. read more

This is the second time I have been to this location. The first time was pretty good except for the fact that my husband asked for a little cilantro to go with his fish tacos and they told him that they couldn't do that because they didn't have enough. So he wasn't happy. But we went back anyway last night and it wasn't good. The beer was flat, the food was very bland and the service was not attentive. We ran out of flat beer only because no one came back to check on us after our food came and we were thirsty. I had the buffalo shrimp. It was bland, not spicy and I had to ask for an extra side of buffalo sauce that was basically orange butter. My husband had the veggie burger which was also mushy and bland as were his side of sweet potato fries, which were also a little burnt. My daughter had the bruscetta chicken which came with pasta and a side of grainy fries. I love the location and atmosphere of this place, which is why I'm giving it 2 stars but the service and food is terrible. Have been here a couple of time before but night was ridiculous. First we're were seated and it was 30 min before our server showed up. Claimed she was never told she had been seated. So we placed our order and when it finally came our 30 min later it was wrong. Not to mention some of the wings were burned as well as the bacon cheese fries. Also we ordered all flats on the wings and they were mixed. More waiting. She only asked about the drinks after we were done. Then we wanted fried Oreos and that was another half hour. Then I had to track down our server for the check. We were there no less than 3 hours. Unacceptable and they weren't that busy. My wife said as we were leaving she will not go back to this location. Too slow. Also. This is the only Gators that I have been to where the Manager never stops by to check on us. I was very disappointed. I hate to write an unflattering review but as much as I want to like this place, I just don't think it's all that great. It's not bad, just not very good. The atmosphere is very nice and I found the service to be good, although that may be in part bc virtually no one was there for dinner tonight. The place was empty between 630-745pm but maybe they have a later crowd. I had the wings, they weren't hot, they must have been sitting around waiting on the rest of our order and they weren't very meaty either. And, I must have miss read the menu, thought they were 9.50$ but the bill was $12, more than I've ever paid for 10 wings and on top of that, no celery or fries. Definitely won't order them again. I've now been 3 times, have had the hot chicken sandwich, fish tacos and now wings and in all cases, the food was average at best vs similar food at Ale House, friendly confines and johnnies. We almost went to johnnies, the food is always pretty good but if you've been there, you know the atmosphere is not nearly as good as gators. I initially rated the place a 2 bc 3 stars implied "a-ok" and I thought it was less than ok, but 2 stars seems too harsh all things considered.
