I scheduled an appointment and he never showed up...he picked the time and day he said he was available, after our phone call I texted him the address and confirmed everything through text. I had to take time off my job to be home and he never called or texted me that he wasn't able to show up and when I called him 15 min after our scheduled appointment and texted him he didn't even answer at 1st, when I called a 2nd time a few minutes later he said he wasn't feeling good and had gone home for the day. Which would have been ok if he had just had the professionalism to at least send me a text or call so I would have not had to leave my job early, loose money and wait around for someone who never showed up! As many Texans experienced in February 2021, the winter storm was one of the most devastating events in the state's history. We did everything we could think of to insulate our outside spigots, but to no avail. Water leaked into our dining room, and we had to unfreeze the leaking outside spigot before we could get a plumber to take a look. We'd heard that all plumbers were booked for at least a month, so we were saved by our friend who had booked Mike Gavit on retainer at the start of the storm. When Mike communicated with us via text, he said the soonest he may be available was Wednesday (2/24) when we needed him that weekend. He came by sooner than expected, and was able to not only isolate the root cause of the issue (frozen pipes that froze too far into the wall), he was able to get it capped for us at a very fair price. It has been a week since his service and we are happy to report that our water (including hot) is working perfectly fine throughout the house. I spoke to this guy on Monday, told him where I live and what I needed (fix leaks). He made an appt for Wed between 8:30 and 9am. I took off work and got a text from him at 8:30 that said "I punched your address into my gps and I don't service outside of a 20 mile radius from Round Rock" I live in North Austin, by the way. I responded "Your website says 40 miles." He responded, "Thanks, I will change that now." Needless to say, I missed work that morning and stopped looking for a plumber to fix my leaks once we had the appt. This is terrible customer service. I DON'T recommend even calling this guy. Mr. Gavit is a lifesaver. Several houses in our neighborhood had burst pipes during the recent winter storm and were without water. Mr. Gavit came out when no one else would, capped our burst pipe, and got our water running again. He helped so many people just in my neighborhood alone. Our plumbing backed up into our house on a Thursday night. Gross. We couldn't figure out the problem so onto craigslist I went looking for someone to come out. Going into the weekend and having a slumber party on Friday night for a bunch of teenage girls, I needed someone to come out right away. Mike answered his own phone. I explained what was happening and he semi-diaganosed the problem over the phone and gave me quote for $130. We scheduled a time for later in the afternoon. He showed up right on time. He figured out the problem in about 5 minutes and solved the issue. My son or one of the neighborhood kids put a stick on the clean out drain and it was blocking the sewage flow. So our problem probably was easier than most, but we didn't know how to fix it. While he was there, I asked him to look a leaky faucet my husband has been promising to fix for 2 years. Mike fixed it in 10 minutes and it's never worked better. The total cost for both repairs was $115....he did more than I originally asked for less money. 1st time Yelp review so this might get overlooked but... Mike was great! We had a water heater issue and we initially called one of the big name guys. They showed up (3 hours late) and told us everything was fine. Everything was fine for 3 hours then back to cold water. Said company rhymes with sister cooter. Then we called Mike. He showed up when he said he was going to. He put in some hard work and looked where the big name company didn't. He also noticed things that were wrong that the big name company said didn't matter. Turns out it did matter. Mike replaced the whole thing with labor cost and it turned out to be half the cost of the big name company. He also had a great can-do attitude and will do anything he can to impress you. Could not recommend him enough! read more

I would not even give this "business" one star if a lower rank was possible. On the phone, he sounded great....stated that he was a licensed master plumber and gave me a fair price for work that I needed to be completed. We set a time for Friday morning for him to do three jobs (he stated that the more I had done, the more I would save due to his trip charges.) I stated that I would call him if I needed to change the appointment but definitely did not foresee any problem. He stated that he would definitely be at my house between 8 and 8:30 am. on Friday and would likewise notify me if there had to be a change. I had guests coming later on Friday, and he was aware of this.....but by 9 am, no show. I called, no answer. I thought that perhaps due to the SXSW traffic he had been delayed. At 9:30, no show and no answer to my phone call. At 10:00, the same thing and another repeat at 10:30. He did not show, did not have the decency to call and cancel, and did not have the decency to answer the phone. I could have had the repairs completed earlier in the week but delayed to fit with his schedule and then had to make other arrangements for family members who were visiting for 10 days. I would not recommend him to do anything for anyone. I accepted his time and date for the appointment and trusted that he would be true to his word. His actions, or rather lack of actions, show his true character. This is not how I was taught nor how I taught my children...when you give your word to do something, do it to the best of your ability. read more

After searching for an honest plumber - I finally found one. I'm so thankful that a friend connected me with Mike @ Gavit Plumbing. Mike was able to speak with me over the phone to discuss our issue and provide a timely site visit to inspect further. We had received quotes for $1,600 and $800 for a minor gas leak (fireplace valve and dryer value) that needed to be replaced. Mike was able to inspect our situation, and provide a quick (1 hr) solution in repairing the original value from 1976 for the cost of a service visit + parts. He was able to pressure test the system and inspected for leaks. We are now leak free! In a world where there are so many dishonest and unqualified people - I will be sticking with Gavit Plumbing for any and all plumbing needs in the future. read more

I purchased a double sink bathroom vanity from Ikea for a bathroom remodel on rental property I own in Austin, Texas. I called three plumbers trying to have the plumbing work done. One told me over the phone that Ikea plumbing was too complex and he would not do it. Another came out and and scratched his head for 20minutes trying to figure it out... he could not. Then I called Mike at Gavit plumbing who saved the day. In less then two hours he had it installed without a problem. I will admit that the Ikea cabinets do not leave much room for error on the plumbing side. It was a tricky job, but Mike handled it without a problem. It works perfectly and looks great. THANK YOU!!!!! I had a toilet absolutely fall apart last night at 9:45. First the bulb inside broke then the inter valve water was running, tried to turn water off and the knob broke on the valve. Called all the big names and none considered this to be a reason to make a house call a night. My daughter found Gavit Plumbing he was there in 15 minutes had me completely fixed in less than 30. I was in charge of a remodel for elderly owner on a Round Rock TX property. Regular plumbing person I use moved away. (Crump was great) I called Mike Gavit one or about Nov 7 to get bid/estimate for removing old toilet flange for three toilets after a home remodel. Was quoted over phone a fair price including install of all new toilets, valves, supply lines. Owner to supply all but new toilet flanges and related materials. Date set for Wed Nov. 12 at 9am. I went to Fergusen plumbing on Tuesday 11th to pick up three new toilets, they were short at RR location and had to order and I had to wait until after 8:30 AM on 12th to pick up. Sent msg to Gavit Plumber same day that best I could do was be at house by 10am on 12th. He finally sent txt msg he would be at location at 8am on 13th, not the 12th, without checking with me first. m I sent txt back saying earliest I could arrive to let him into house on 13th was 9am I am doing childcare drop-off in the AM. I got a response is he would start other jobs and get there when he could. Fine, I called at 8:20am on 13th to check his status, he stated he would arrive at job 9:30am to 10am. Sometime after 10am I sent note and called to see if he was on his way. No reply. Waited longer, sent more txt to see if he could give me an estimate of arrival time. Called again. No reply. Sometime after 11am I get txt saying he is busy and I need to find another plumber. Poor way to run a business. He did not have guts to answer his phone or tell me he needed to reschedule time. Extremely poor communication and customer service skill set. I have no idea if he is a competent plumber or not as he was a "no call no show." I help run a remodel business and pride myself on Customer Service and quite frankly Gavit Plumbing has shown they do not know what this concept is. read more

He moved our appointment from Tuesday to Friday, delaying our remodel project. Friday rolls around and no Mike, no phone call. He doesn't return calls or texts. Terrible business practices.
