I drove all the way up here from El Cajon to try this place and it was so incredibly good! The focaccia was very fresh and I could taste the quality of their ingredients. It seems to be a family owned business so the service was very genuine and efficient. The man helping me with the focaccia was also very sweet in getting my items for me. I then walked over to the gelato area and got a blood orange gelato which was also vegan. They had quite a few vegan options as well which was awesome! GP Diner has got to be my favorite new find! This delicious (what I can only describe as a tiny food hall) has an incredible variety of gourmet Sicilian style personal pizzas, gelato, and an all American diner with a Gourmet Italian twist. oh, and I forgot to mention a delicious gourmet coffee shop. The building set up at ambience is ridiculously cute with three different seating areas including wonderful outdoor seating on picturesque PCH101 Encinitas. The service is amazing and the staff will bend over backwards to make sure that you have an amazing time. Pizza was great, Customer service not soo much. Just make sure to say and easy name because the girl up in the register will butcher your name. I went to to take my cousin new to the area and had a bad experience. I made an order to go she was ready to charge me, I was not offered drinks so I told the girl to add drinks that lead to maybe not getting in her good side(she might be a teen to understand) anyway we waited 10-15mins as told. A guy(different guys that put in the pizza in the oven) said Ivan i know my name is Yvonne but some say ivan I get it, so I asked him is it for Yvonne? He said Ivan. Okay the guy goes to the girl and says Ivan or Yvonne and she said idk and walked a way. She walked right infront of me and still acted like she had no idea after she was the one who charged me and took my order. I approached the same guy and said if that was my order I told him what I ordered and it was he apologies after 10 additional Mins because the cashier girl refused to ignore the fact she knew who's it was and walked away. I will not be returning if this will be a racist or teenager just having a bad day and pick on ppl. We ordered to go because one of our group had to work. Came in on a Sunday, on our way home from San Diego to L.A and by pure coincidence, got off the freeway to get some In-n-Out but as usual lines were ridiculous and wait time was exceeding our hunger meter, so we decided to look elsewhere, one Internet search and pizza did not sound so bad. At first arrival this place was gorgeous, like all beach side shops and restaurants, really quaint. I loved it! The service was great, really nice ladies helped us out, we chose some of the more traditional pizza flavors but there was a variety of around 30 flavors give or take. Pizza was delicious, from the crust to the pizza toppings everything tied up beautifully and to top it off we had dessert which was AMAZING!! Glad it's finally open. I like the pizzas but they need to be eaten rather quickly or the crust would become a bit too hard and chewy. My husband and I shared 4 slices. And they cut each slice into halves. Our favorite is the one with the sausage and mushrooms. It's very flavorful. We also tried the gelato and they are good. The guanciale one needs more guanciale to give it more flavor. The one with the pepper and buffalo mozzarella with toasted too much but the bell peppers were fresh and flavorful but I can't taste the mozzarella very much maybe because by the time I got to it, it's cold and the cheese was just a solid lump. I do like the one with potatoes and sausage. The sausage gives it a lot of flavor and the potato on top was soft giving it a nice contrast in mouth feel to the crunchy crust. read more

Enjoyed an espresso and Tartufo Breakfast pizza with mushrooms, eggs, mozzarella, and asparagus. My husband is from Sicily and even he approves and enjoyed it (which is very rare). The dough of the pizza was perfect. Both sides of the restaurant have unique offerings. Closer to the 101 there are pastries, Italian coffee, and gelato, and the other side is Italian/Californian style diner. The interior is really creative and the service was great too. FLIES ON PIZZA!! I really wanted to try this place so I walked in at around 3:40 p.m. on Thursday December 5th and the pizza all looked really good I was going to get the I think it was called ira or Iva pizza. I paid I gave the lady a $20 bill while she was getting my change I kept looking at the pizzas and I noticed that there were a bunch of small fruit flies just hanging out on different varieties of pizzas. There wasn't just one fly there were many flies Just sitting on the pizzas. I told the lady never mind, please cancel my order you have flies on your pizza, She was very apologetic and gave me my money back. I know it is an open area where the pizzas are however they really need to put something in place a net or something so that bugs or flies in this instance can't access the pizza. I wish I didn't have to write this review because I really wanted to try that pizza it looked really good. read more

I consider myself to be a Buona Forchetta and family apologist, and Gelati & Peccati is no exception! They have an incredible variety of pizza al taglio, in the Roman "by the slice" style. My favorite flavors I've tried are either potato variety- either with sausage or truffle oil, the mortadella with pistachios, and artichoke. You really can't go wrong, try a different flavor each time! After you eat, don't forget to meander one room over and get some tasty gelato. My favorite is the inventive olive oil orange flavor! It's not too sweet, but cuts bright orangey flavor cuts through the rich olive oil base. At the very least, you have to sample it. I give 4 stars because I recently had a pretty negative experience with the service. The woman taking our order just seemed pretty out of it, and her friend (or maybe another worker?) even walked up and started talking to her while we were ordering. It was very awkward and we had to keep pausing to see if she was even paying attention to us. Hoping this was an isolated incident because this is a favorite spot!! read more

I really debated what to leave us a review here because the food looks amazing here the pizzas look amazing, but I ordered from the diner side which serves breakfast all day, and I ordered an egg and ham and cheese sandwich with avocado, because I love avocado, and after taking the first bite of my sandwich, it was obvious the avocado was ROTTEN. Since it was on both sides of the croissant, I scraped and scraped and couldn't get it off. I could barely eat any of my $16 sandwich because of rotten avocado. If you're paying that much for a sandwich, the ingredient should be fresh, the egg, the cheese, the ham all the croissant was toasted to perfection. Everything was great, and the avocado was rotten, now I'm afraid I'm gonna get sick It's sad because I went in because it smells great. The pizzas look great but if you don't use fresh ingredients and someone else to worry about getting sick that's a big problem. read more

Mama Mia the crust! So crunchy and so skinny ;) one of the best slices of pizza I have ever had! Part because all ingredients are fresh and the chef told me his style of dough is "au levain". Most likely very reduced amount of gluten, because they wait the yeast to do it's job. Then I tried out the gelatos. Even on a rainy day in Encinitas, when I had the gelatos the whole days lighted up. Hazelnut is a must, also they have this triple berry hazelnut situation... The sausage potato pizza had the perfect texture and taste that it didn't make the crust doughy underneath...and of course you need to make room for the gelatos!
