I have been eating in this building for over 40 years, since it was an Angelo's Diner. The city of Encinitas mandated that Angelo's put in $150,000 for improvements, otherwise they would not allow the property management company to renew their lease. Therefore, when I saw the renovated property and a new Diner in its place, I decided to walk in with a colleague of mine. However, it went downhill from there... We were not aware that they close at 8:30pm on a Sunday in the Summertime, especially since the restaurant was full on both sides with customers. As my colleague and I took a look at the menu, the selection of pizzas, and the gelato, no one made us aware that they were closing soon. Once we attempted to order, then a young male employee approximately 18 years of age very rudely told us that he is not accepting orders anymore... As a native San Diegan and professional in the community, not to mention a first-time customer of this establishment that took over one of my favorite Diners, I felt like we deserved a little bit more respect. Management needs to understand that we have strong roots in the community, and just by word of mouth alone, we can steer customers away from this establishment for poor communication and rude treatment of customers. I hope that they realize that a first impression is everything, and that there is a better way to handle those types of situations. It's called communication early and often... As someone who was a Restrateur and grew up in the restaurant industry, I understand that employees are tired at the end of the evening. I get it, they want to go home. However, it's important for Management to know that first time customers who are unaware of the closing time are being turned away, even though they showed up before the official closing. There should be an assistant manager at the very least who is working a night shift during a weekend night. They should be handling this, not some 18 year old Gen Z kid who doesn't know how to be respectful toward customers. My recommendation is to expand your hours on Sunday evenings, especially during the summer months! The Diner was full of customers, and people were pouring out of the local bars looking for a place to eat. Instead, they got turned away and went next door to the Taco Stand... Your corporation is definitely leaving money on the table! read more

Love the OG Gelati & Peccati so I'm excited about this location in North County! It truly is more of a diner feel than the OG location that's more of a corner shop/stand. This location has a pizza spot, coffee bar, gelato section and then the diner section that offers more food options. There's seating all throughout and everything I've had so far is delicious! The staff is very welcoming and friendly too. They have so many options to pick from, I recommend following them on Instagram to learn about their pizza and gelato flavors. Located on the main downtown street of Encinitas so look for street parking or park one street up at the train station parking lot. read more

Hi. Yesterday we were at Encinitas. We got some tacos from the taco stand then we came to Gelati and Peccati however there is no name on the building. We set outside. Our plan was to get pizza and ice cream too. The owner came and yelled on us to not eat here. I went inside to order pizza. For past 4 years I go with my family. Everyone order different food. We set together and eat. I told him we were ordering and we always done this. He said I never see you here. He was very very rude and insulting me. He said I told you 5 min ago to get rid of your food. You are not allowed to eat there. I can not take order first you have to clean up ur food. I give up on ordering. I will never go back there. I live in Encinitas. I never seen a person like him. Plus his buisness has no name on the building. He has yellow stickers there. Says rosemerries bun and brew on the building. Came here for an impromptu start to date night and so happy we finally got to try. I love the portion size because it allow to try a few different kinds and branch out a little from the safe norms. We each picked 2 different so 4 total and our favorites were the Cacio e Pepe and the Arrabbiata. After, we followed up with the egg white and white chocolate gelato - wow! Perfect little spot when you don't feel like having an expensive meal but still feels unique and special. Horrible customer service. When we walked into this place for the first time, all the workers behind the counter ignored us for a long while, even though we were standing right by the pizza and the register waiting to order. No one greeted us either. We finally ordered our pizzas and one worker put them in the oven to warm them up. We went to sit down, and 15 minutes later when our pizza hadn't arrived yet, we went back up to the front to check in. They couldn't remember what our order was, so we told them, and then let them know where we were sitting. Another 15 minutes goes by, so we asked again where our pizza is. They finally let us know they gave our pizza to someone else. Meanwhile, other employees are sitting around and talking to each other. Maybe instead of chatting, make sure the pizzas are going to the right customers? Once we finally got our pizza, it was good. The gelato was good too. The music clashed with the decor and vibe of the restaurant. Overall, not impressed enough to go back anytime soon. I have been to their North Park location so I had high expectations for this place and they delivered! GP Diner is attached to a diner but I believe they're the same owner since they share the same dining area. I have tried both their pizza and their gelato and both are delicious! You can order pizza by the slice and they heat it up for you. If you're with a group, I recommend ordering a few different slices and sharing them across your group so you can sample a little bit of everything. The food here is top tier every time. Located in the heart of Encinitas so you can't beat the location either! A great spot for a snack, a whole meal or dessert! read more

Had to stop in and get a slice of pizza based on their display in the front window. The place was pretty small, without a ton of seating. It took a while to place our order, with little acknowledgement from any workers. Overall, the pizza was great. I got the Rabia, a delicious meat, cheese, and mushroom combination. I moved this review from the GP Diner: Best REAL & AUTHENTIC gelato in Encinitas and on the 101. The customer service was great as well. This was even apparent as we were eating our gelato that all the other customers were getting friendly service. I loved the way our 2 kids were treated because they often don't get acknowledged. They were personally greeted at their level. And an extra spoon and bowl was offered to our toddler without asking. I was recommended a good flavor combo as well. We will be back. Just re-opened today. The pizza looks thick, but is super airy. From the massive selection of slices, I went bold and selected Invidia. Not sure that I have ever seen zucchini pizza before. The lemon zest was noticeable and the cheese was extra fluffy. If you want something different, do it! After the huge close down, expectations are going to be high. The only reason GP Diner would not make it more known that they're part of the now famous Gelati & Peccati/Buona Forchetta family is probably that they would be overwhelmingly busy if they did. It's funny that if you search "pizza" in Encinitas, this place doesn't even come up, which is ironic because they probably have the BEST pizza in Encinitas. I LOVE Roman style pizza...for pizza purists it fundamentally perfect. And GP has nearly perfected it. The pizzas are fresh and the crust. Ohhh good lord the crust... To be clear, I haven't tried the diner portion of this establishment, and may never try it to be honest. It would almost be a form of sacrilege or betrayal of some sort to come here and not just get pizza. But being in the hands of the BF people, they probably have everything figured out just fine. I know Encinitas doesn't need any more traffic- it was like a dang zoo downtown, but if you happen to be in the area or even driving by Encinitas on the 5, this is absolutely worth a detour. read more

Very casual (and a bit unusual) spot. It's a diner with different arms with multiple small structures with indoor and outdoor seating. What brought us in was the sight of the pizza. Did not disappoint. Another part has gelato, also excellent. I've yet to try their burger, but I also heard good things. I want to try it all, frankly. Ha! After finding out it is owned and operated by the same family who runs Buona Forchetta it all made sense. Friendly service. Good for people watching when sitting outside along the 101. And not surprised at all the food is great. The Panini is made with bread made by Luca. In case you didnt know, Luca learned how to bake bread in Rome, so its the real deal! Panini is as close as you can get to Florence or Rome! Must try with the imported Italian Meats! While eating our Panini, we saw 3 different group with Burgers and everyone raved about them. When I was seated I had opened my plastic silverware ( unaware that they had regular utensils) I asked him for those after seeing them in his hand and he told me I already opened up the plastic ones and he would have to throw them away. We came by at 10:40am and asked a person working there what time they opened and she said 11am which is also what it said online. We came back at 11 and she said they were actually opening at 11:30 that day, so we walked around again and got coffee somewhere else. We came back at 11:30 and were told they actually wouldn't be open until noon. So upsetting. We would have just gotten food elsewhere instead of wasting an hour walking around. If you are going to open late please just give an accurate open time or try to accommodate the people who are there. At 11am all the pizzas were out and at 11:30 am "the ovens to reheat the pizzas weren't hot". We stopped by GP Diner on the way back from Comic Con to Los Angeles. I just have to say the people, customer service, and the quality of the food wre all immaculate. Parking was simple, and the spot is nice and cozy, but with tons of options. I had what I believe was the best cheese pizza I've ever had here. Was excited to try this place after walking by it for months..... until I had to engage with the server (the guy at the counter who heats up your pizza). Wow. Rude and argumentative. I cannot eat fresh mozzarella or buffalo mozzarella but can eat the aged mozzarella that is more common on pizzas. My body just doesn't like it and I'll spare you the stomach details. Each of the pizza slices had either fresh or Buffalo mozzarella on top - with the aged/harder kind pre-baked underneath. I asked if he could take the soft dollops off the top before he heats it up and he said no (why not?), then proceeded to try and lecture me on cheese and that it's all the same so it doesn't matter. I know my cheese. I also know what my stomach can tolerate. He kept arguing with me saying there's nothing for me- ok, must not need customers. To the owner, manager or jerk guy behind the counter: Please google fresh mozzarella, aged mozzarella and buffalo mozzarella, which are all different and guess what, the Buffalo kind comes from Buffalo milk. And then stop arguing with customers. Had they removed the dollops of the soft stuff (was easy to do), I would have tried the pizza. Now with such a horrible experience, I'll never go back. I drove all the way up here from El Cajon to try this place and it was so incredibly good! The focaccia was very fresh and I could taste the quality of their ingredients. It seems to be a family owned business so the service was very genuine and efficient. The man helping me with the focaccia was also very sweet in getting my items for me. I then walked over to the gelato area and got a blood orange gelato which was also vegan. They had quite a few vegan options as well which was awesome!
