We live about a mile from Kung Fu Sushi, but I told the family that I was tired of going there and suggested we try Gen Sushi. We drove up to Battle Ground and walked into a tiny restaurant with every seat filled and several parties waiting in the small entryway. The greeter encouraged us to look at the menu and fill in our order form while we waited. We opened the menu and ... it was identical to Kung Fu Sushi's! The food was indeed pretty much the same as Kung Fu's, which is not a bad thing. We had two specialty rolls, a rice noodle bowl with shrimp, and (based on reviews we'd seen) fried calamari. We really enjoyed the calamari ... very tasty and enough for four people. What set Gen Sushi apart from Kung Fu and some other places was the attentive, polite, fun, and friendly. Because of this, I think we're inclined to return even though it's a 20-minute drive. We'll probably wait until the weather warms up and they're able to offer outdoor seating again. read more

Came back again, overall presentation not as great as the first couple of times; but rolls were decent. The Vegas and house rolls have been consistently the best. The green dragon and double shrimp were both good. The fried rice is worth skipping for sure. Not really "fried rice" if you ask me.. read more

Genki Sushi is new to Battle Ground and it is absolutely WONDERFUL! The staff is friendly, attentive and put the customer first. The owner is delightful and very knowledgable about Japan and their customs. So many sushi places have made their sushi smaller and smaller to compensate for the high prices at the market. You won't find that happening here. The sushi is generous in size and oh so fresh. Sushi rice, yum. I can't say enough positive things about this place. I can't wait for the weather to warm up. We just had a nice quiet date with hubby this evening at this amazing place. Walking in we were greeted by Victoria who also was our server. She is the kindest and most warm server we have ever had. The ambiance was so nice the place is full of hospitality snd so clean. The outdoor patio is must see. We had several sushi rolls and a good cold Sapporo beer . As we left the place, the e tire team from behind the kitchen greeted us with big smiles in their face. This place is beyond friendly and welcoming. My first trip to gen I met Eddie, not sure if he's the owner or the manager but I swear every time I go there no matter the time he's there greeting me with a smile and a welcome in. I went with family and we had just finished a huge hike. It was mid day on a weekday and we were one of the two groups in there. Eddie took special care to introduce himself and welcome us to the restaurant after we told him it was our first time and put in a large order because we were all famished. He then proceeded to bring us two free complementary appetizer plates and thanked us for our business. Since that day it has been the only sushi restaurant in the area I go to. I will in fact go out of my way to go there over other sushi restaurants. The quality of the fish and the food is Always top notch, the service is amazing always with a smile and kindness and the atmosphere is always happy.
