Gen Sushi is a solid spot. The outdoor seating area is a nice space to sit and enjoy a meal. Staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our visit, which always makes a difference. The menu has a good variety of rolls and there's definitely something for everyone. We tried a few different options and enjoyed them. The sushi tasted good overall, though I'll be honest, it didn't quite reach the heights of some other spots I've been to. The quality is there, but it feels like it's hovering just below where it could be. That said, no real complaints. For a casual sushi outing with a pleasant atmosphere and a friendly crew, this is a decent spot.

My sister was in town and she loves sushi, the owner of Gen Sushi privately messaged me to give them another try since my first visit wasn't the best visit! We were greeted immediately and sat down, we ordered the house roll, shogo roll, * I can't remember the last roll, whoops*, spicy wontons, Thai ice tea and Apple Soju. The gentlemen working was very kind, and warned us that the soju is high ABV lol, which we had a bad week so we wanted a high ABV! Our rolls came out before our appetizer, but nonetheless the food was great. Service was much better than before, although we did not receive a check in to see how the food is or if we needed anything else. Everyone even said goodbye when we left, which is always appreciated. I appreciate the owner taking pride in their establishment and trying to make things right. I'll be back

This is in reply to the business owners response. I tried the restaurant 7 months ago and they're just now leaving a reply to my 3 star review. I'm glad they cater to the demographic in their area, I guess. That's very telling actually. Lol. I'm glad they pay their workers fairly, etc. but that doesn't address actual health hazards (room temp sushi or fruit flies) nor does it address watered down alcoholic beverages. Do better. Don't sweep things under the rug. I shared feedback. Kind of only have two options. 1) Fix the issues and don't bother replying.; 2) Or receive the feedback and say you're going to make it a priority to step up your game. Rambling about fancy spots vs not isn't the point. You don't have to be fancy to serve bomb sushi/dishes. I wasn't judging it as fine dining. Everyone in the greater Vancouver area raves about this spot and I find it mediocre (as I've eaten sushi my entire life and lived in predominantly Asian areas for a good 30+ years). Either way, good luck in 2026.

Food is amazing, super delicious. Ambiance is quiet no many tables inside and they have some tables outside. Service is excellent, people is nice and kind.

I've heard a lot about Gen Sushi but never had the time to make my way there or just forgot. Today I finally got the chance to try it and it did not disappoint. I've been trying sushi within the area and this is my favorite restaurant so far. As soon as we stepped in around 4pm on a Saturday, we were greeted and seated right away. We only ordered sushi, but they have many other options for those not a fan of sushi. Honestly, I'm use to waiting for sushi to be made when a restaurant has multiple types of food on the menu, but we got our sushi made around 5 minutes. And everything was so fresh!! Amazed by the time and super happy with the food lol The service is great. Each person that stopped by our table were super nice and efficient. I would say we got seated, ordered, received our food, ate and checked out under 25 minutes. My partner and I love dining in restaurants, but we also love when we can be in and out. This isn't very common in non-conveyor belt restaurants. The restaurant itself is Japanese themed and feels authentic. It's a smaller restaurant but they have a covered patio to seat more guests. Overall, I was super impressed and can see why their ratings are so high. I hope to be back soon.

The service is AMAZING and the food was great. Big portions and prices aren't too bad. Went there with my family and it is really nice inside. The workers will always chat with you and make you happy inside. The place is very friendly and positive.

Very good quality sushi and definitely the best in North county. All of the rolls are spectacular. Also, love the soup dumplings and gyoza. Their homemade fruit teas are super refreshing. Dinner rush is busy every night of the week, so expect a wait for a table. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is because service is also fairly slow; had to wave a server down to ask about a drink, then later for more napkins and finally for some boxes and the check. To be honest the menu is worth the slow service. Family friendly environment, and not too loud. Definitely recommend this Battle Ground gem.

You guys were kind enough to leave a comment, but it hurt my heart even more. It's amazing that the Battle Ground branch has 4.9 stars, but most of all, I was angry about the culture, taste, and aggressive commenting on the residents of Battle Ground, so I corrected the comment again. We really pride ourselves on being a place where you can bring the kids and just have some "comfort food" sushi. We're also big believers in taking care of the people who take care of us, which is why we hire our neighbors, pay good wages, and give back to the community whenever we can. We know we might not be the "fancy" experience everyone is looking for, but we hope to stay a reliable local spot for you. We'd love to have you back for a casual meal anytime! --------They commented like this, and it sounds like the taste buds of the people of Battle Ground are cheap. P.S. Out of curiosity, if the food is 1/5, service is 3/5, and the atmosphere is 2/5, wouldn't that average to a 2-star rating? The sauces provided also had a strong scent of Chinese food. If you love Japanese food, I don't want to recommend it. The servers greeted me kindly. I didn't receive any particularly friendly service. There was a lot of chatter among the servers, and it was a very distracting atmosphere. The outdoor tables were even more hectic as servers came and went. They even took water and spilled it. If you want to eat quietly, I don't recommend it.

I went to Gen Sushi in Battle Ground with a friend and really enjoyed it! Parking was easy. When we came in the place is clean and welcoming. We were greeted right away and our table was reserved. Everything we tried was delicious sushi, warm miso soup, and mochi ice cream for dessert. Also loved our cocktails that tasted like strawberry starburst and also the fun drink that you open with a marble. Such a nostalgic touch! Our waitress Victoria was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service. The whole staff is really friendly. Definitely recommend and will be coming back soon!

Usually sushi restaurants have bento boxes that you can choose from a variety of options. They did not have that here. I was slightly disappointed at that. *** This is a good place to come if you want sushi rolls. Portions are good and food tastes great.

This is the second time we've eaten here during a trip to visit family. It's consistently solid! This time we also ordered their chicken lo mein and it was really good! My kids loved it. The rolls and nigiri were great as they were the last time. The Gen roll is particularly delicious. Great portion size too! It's likely going to be our ritual to have dinner here on the day we arrive each trip.

Incredibly impressed with the quality of the fish. Similar to what you'd expect in LA or San Diego. With that being what it is, these prices are unbeatable. The service and friendliness of the staff made this a lovely luncheon out with my husband. I love that they have the fans blasting outside because even if it is deathly hot in the summer, sometimes good old dry heat hits the spot. So good.

It's not just the food that is spot on, but the staff and owners. It's family owned and truly every interaction I have here lifts my mood. They are so thoughtful and kind and genuine. The food is always served so quickly and beautifully. It's fresh, and consistently high quality. I'll tolerate a lot for GREAT food, but here, you get it all.

I'm not sure why folks rave about this place. It's cute and the staff are friendly but sushi is typical low budget mall quality. It's probably fine for basic rolls and basic Chinese food, but not great for traditional nigiri/sashimi and other Japanese quality food (they didn't even have yakitori which is the most basic of Japanese dishes for folks that don't want fish). Miso soup was probably the best thing we had and the Spyder roll was soggy and bland. Scallop and hamachi nigiri(s) was meh. Spring rolls were ok and Vegi lo mein didn't have half the vegis that was shown in the pix (but again... why is a Sushi joint serving lo mein and spring rolls ?????). Maybe it's the only place around and why the locals like it (we were on a road trip and detoured for it) based on Yelp reviews, but comparing to Seattle, San Francisco, and San Honolulu sushi joints, this place is not worth a special trip. 2 stars for the food, 4 stars for the ambiance and staff. read more

This is the sister restaurant of Kung Fu Noodle in Vancouver. The food seemed comparable, service was comparable, staff is much more Americanized and equally friendly. I like this location more bc theres less traffic to/from this location. Doesn't mean it's not good, we actually had to be on a wait-list to get seated. They don't have high chairs, just cushions for kids. If you have wild toddlers with no sense of boundaries, go to the Vancouver location for the high chairs. read more

My husband and I have been coming here for a few months now. We LOVE this establishment. We come every 2 weeks. We refuse to eat sushi anywhere else. Their staff is UNMATCHED. So friendly and accommodating. I can't recommend this place enough. 100/10 read more

Sushi is a new adventure for me. I can't eat seaweed wrap as it makes me sick but I wanted to give it another try. Went to our Battle Ground sushi spot and they did not disappoint. I explained my intolerance to seaweed and they happily accommodated by offering soy wrap instead of seaweed. I'm sold. That sushi was so fresh, so tasty. Wow. Thank you for meeting me where I am on my adventure into new tasty food. I will be back (probably so much you'll know my name when you see me!) Side note: the staff are so wonderful. While I sat and waited for my to go order they checked on me, offered a beverage and twice in fifteen minutes gave me N update on my order. I could have ordered ahead on the phone and picked up to avoid the wait but had to figure out the wrap. The owner offered me a menu and told me how to order for next time to avoid the wait. I would say I really like this place, not better than the other only sushi spot in town but I enjoy the rolls and nigiri The owner is super nice and attentive. I wish the place was a little bigger not very infant/stroller come with multiple kids kinda place. Buttt when the suns shining we can probably sit outside. 4 out of 6 times I've enjoyed the food. I don't like the "chefs selection" for the sashimi. If I'm paying for sashimi I want all salmon. All places usually don't mind because it's easier and cheaper for them to do. They charge an extra $2-4 extra. The spicy tuna tasted really bad last time, we couldn't eat it. But ! Every other roll tasty The hot dishes are very enjoyable Prices are great read more

This is our new fav spot in the area!! The environment inside was chic and unique and the staff was so kind and helpful. They even brought us an extra side dish/dessert for us to enjoy. The sushi was plated beautifully, so fresh, so unique but still with the usual classic options on the menu. The bao was amazing as well, they even let us know that since it's freshly steamed, it would be about 15min, so we were informed. Will 100% be back and have already told a few others about it. read more

I've been waiting for this place for a very long time, ever since I knew that this restaurant was going to exist in the Battle Ground area. I went with a friend, as we both loved sushi, and ordered from their fairly large menu. They have more than just sushi, but sushi was the majority of the menu (obviously). XD The sushi took a little bit to come, but it was a fair amount of time compared to Olive Garden and Red Robin wait time, so pretty decent. But when it came, it was such a large amount of sushi than expected, that we knew we were gonna be satisfied. And we truly were. The sushi was absolutely amazing. Even the rice (which people could care less for) tasted slightly different, like a fresher taste than other sushi places. Either way, we were very happy and satisfied with eating here, and will definitely be here again and again! read more

I love this restaurant! Service is really great, the owner (i think) goes around to greet customers and engages with them. We ordered a complicated order with add-ons and take-offs and they only got one wrong-- they let us keep it AND the right order as well. Then, the owner came handed free 'new' fried yam desserts for customers. The ambience is very chill and family-welcoming. read more

Best sushi place in Clark County. The staff are amazing and helpful. They are always friendly and welcoming. The outdoor seating is awesome especially in the summer because there is a big connect 4 game that my grandchildren love to play. The waiters and waitresses are always so good to the kids and have little games to play and stickers that they offer to them which the kids love and look forward to. The food is always top notch and I will always recommend this restaurant if people want a sushi recommendation. read more

Newly relocated to Vancouver. We were out and about exploring and found Gen Sushi on Yelp. My goodness - it lives up to the reviews. We had two rolls and the potstickers. Fabulous taste and the waitstaff was amazing. Can't wait to go back. read more

My husband and I love going to Gen Sushi! Super friendly staff, the ingredients taste so fresh and delicious (I love nigiri), and so many interesting different menu items to try. Absolutely incredible. My dad and I both got the Sushi Combo, which was 6 pieces of nigiri and a crunchy salmon roll. I haven't had sushi this good since I was in Monterey Bay last summer! This place also changed my mind on miso soup. I've always hated it, ever since I was a kid--but it came with the meal, and there wasn't another option, so I gave it a try...and my mind was blown. It's the best soup I've had at any Japanese restaurant. I'm super bummed I can't get anything close to this back home in Manhattan, Kansas. read more

We have been to Gen Sushi many times since opening. Love the place. We have been eating sushi for 25+ years, so we are picking about our sushi. We have had nigiri, rolls, sashimi, to chicken. Everything is delicious. The owner is always checking at table to make sure everything is ok. Sometimes he has given out something for samples. When the weather is cooperating, outside dining is very nice. Not one negative thing for this place read more

This is the best sushi experience of your life. Came in around 7 at night when it's mostly people stopping in for take out and had the most wonderful experience with the staff. The food is gorgeously.presented and of the best quality in the PNW. If you love sushi, you have to come here! read more

The waiters were so nice! They gave us free drinks to try and their service was above and beyond. They took pictures of us when we asked and were very attentive to how we were doing. Owner is the brother of Sachi Sushi! The service here is amazing; everyone is super friendly. They have outdoor seating on the back patio which is a nice vibe and it's heated for cooler nights. They served up some nice cuts of salmon and everything tasted very fresh. Gen Sushi was so kind to provide us with complimentary tots and spicy wontons (not pictured). They really go above and beyond! Cute spot for a date night and they're open until pretty late (9pm on a Sunday??)! Go check them out! We will be back ~ read more

Hands down the best Sushi spot I've ever been too. We live nearby and go in regularly. The food is amazing, Lovely staff and service, and the atmosphere is always pleasant. Prices are spot on too. The owner always cooks on the smoker out back and will walk around asking if you want some free bites. Can't recommend this spot enough. So glad it's nearby. read more

Delicious food in a cute environment! My husband and I were in town visiting family, and decided to come to Gen Sushi. The owner is super friendly and was very knowledgeable about all the food. The sushi rolls were fresh, calamari perfectly crispy and lo mein has the perfect flavor proportions. We sat outdoors and it was very comfortable in a shaded area with a gazebo. We had the following dishes: - Calamari: perfectly crispy with tender large calamari pieces and a delicious spicy mayo dipping sauce. Was super excited to try this place as it has amazing 5 star ratings. I like the ambiance and the staff was friendly. Food was ready on time. I'm struggling to rate a 3 and was leaning towards a 2 star as ultimately neither of could even enjoy the rolls and ultimately threw them out. My lion king roll was ordered with no spicy sauce and it was smoothered...spicy mayo with extra siracha. We checked the notes and the order was taken correctly. I removed all of the salmon in an attempt to remove the spice and the roll was still spicy and ruined. Probably won't be back. Super bummed. Spider roll wasn't great. Favorite was salmon premium. My daughter and I stopped in to try them as they were highly recommended on the Battleground Facebook page. We tried 2 different rolls and they were delicious. A week later I called in an order on my car phone. The lady was so nice. I couldn't remember the name of a roll and described it to her and she told me the name. My daughter was listening to the conversation and after hanging up she said "wow, why can't all people be that nice"? I found out it was the owners wife that was so nice. We chatted a bit while they finished my order. Another week went by and stopped again! Met the other owner that time. All staff and all sushi excellent. Highly recommend trying them. read more

The shrimp rice is very different from other fried rice that I had in the past (in a good way). The owner told me he had tried about 20 times to get to the perfection. We have ordered takeout and dine-in. Both experience here were great. The staff and owner are very attentive, caring and eager to help. My favorite items are Salmon Nigiri, Seared Salmon Nigiri, and their Chicken Fried Rice. Yes, their fried rice is much better than the two Chinese restaurant in town. They made you feel welcome and neighborly. We will definitely come back again. read more

We love coming over to Gen Sushi in Battle Ground for our date nights. The service is great. The staff and owner are always friendly and entertaining. My favorite dish here is the Sushi Combo. You will get six pieces of fresh, thick cut Nigiri and a Crunchy salmon roll. read more
