In a stern voice, he forced me to delete it and showed his fury. I understand and your company's policy but, he didn't have to behave a this type of way. My relative wanted me to buy a pastry. I explained my concerns to the lady working on the floor, she pretended like nothing happened! I will not longer support this business. I grew up on these buns! i still enjoy it to this day. lots of places sell and have their own versions of this particular bun, but specifically, this place does it best. full of flavor, super soft and a good size too ( some spots are smaller and pack less filling ). i can down 2 in one sitting with coffee. Whenever I'm in the neighborhood I have to stop by here. Before covid times this place was always packed. Now times have changed, it's empty now. BUT the goodies are still good! I came here for bbq pork buns, spam egg buns and that sprinkled shredded pork bun. I managed to get the last 2 coconut buns, but I asked if there were more. When I'm Chinatown, I buy my breakfast buns there because it's CHEAPER there. But I can't find FRESH mini hot dog buns for my niece and nephew, so I come here once in a while to buy that. But they're so damn expensive!!! Like triple the damn price!!! A plain pineapple bun in CT now is around $1.10-$1.35 but here, it's gotten to $1.90, and that's for the same size!!! Taste may defer. But I'm really glad this bakery is here when my house runs out of breakfast, it's near by, it's easy parking and service fast. They always have a long line, because their bread is so good! It's really quiet in there, no music, just customers voice when ordering. The ladies are really nice. Always tell me what deals they have so I don't waste money. Even if it's to buy more, but who doesn't love a deal and who doesn't love buns or pastries. I went one time late afternoon, around 30 mins before they close, bought some bread for a trip but I was a $1 and some change short. The young girl working at that time said it's okay. I'm sure it must be hard to be a small business owner; fronting your own money to get everything up on its feet in the hopes of making it big. You're following your passion, doing what you're good at, and hoping it works out in the end. With this in mind I'd want to give this place 5 stars but in the end the service is what honestly brought them down to 3.5 stars (I'm putting 3 in hopes their average bumps down a bit so people know to be cautious coming here.) I'll try and give my fair and honest opinion. It seems like the convenience is more so for them than it is for their customer. I came here wanting to give my money to a local business owner but made me kind of rethink that. This is a cash only bakery (that's fine there's a lot of places like that) but they limit you on how many pennies you can use. If you try to use more than 5 pennies the cashier will point to a sign behind them. I also started taking pictures of their breads and the cashier said that I couldn't do that here. I tried to explain that it was for Yelp so people know what they serve but they kept saying no pictures. Doesn't seem like they know the reason behind why some of these rules are in place and how to explain it to a customer. The employees here just know to enforce them with no questions asked. Finally onto the food though! The pineapple buns wasn't that bad, the middle had some good cream filling. The green onion bun hot from the oven is delicious. However the green onions might not always be spread evenly in the bun so you might get a bite of just plain dough with no flavor. All in all the food is good and there's a ton of selections. I did want to try more but at the same time the service made me become indifferent to supporting them. I might come back but not anytime soon. My heart goes out to them, I hope they can improve as a bakery, but I did want to be fair to the potential customers thinking of coming in in the future. read more

Saw this on Yelp and it looked promising. Large variety to choose from and the place looks clean and prices are competitive. Purchased a bunch of different pastries to try. As soon and cut into several different ones, I knew something wasn't right. The crispy flaky items were not, and the item that should have been soft and moist were stale and dry. Really disappointed in the quality. I was easily fooled, the stuff looked good behind the glass display cases, but unfortunately the taste test revealed another story. The pastries here are decent, and the cocktail bun=coconut bun was good. Still, it's similar to many Chinese bakeries so that's not saying much. Props to them for opening in the area - Excelsior District. Should be three stars. However, my pics-taking might have agitated them. I was already out the door, down the block, when I saw the register lady and baker/owner standing at the doorway. They were also saying something to one another. Then, I think the owner/baker tried to write down my license plate. Weird. Maybe I'm overreacting, but two stars as I don't want to return and get knee-capped. Note: reminded me of the time in SEAsia when friends and I got ripped off at a bar for drinks and so we did not leave a tip. As we walked back to our villa, the bar sent a couple of goons after us on motorbikes. They followed along for over a block and demanded tip, lol. Whoa I'm pretty surprised by the mediocre reviews. This place is as authentic as it gets in terms of Chinese bakery goods. When I was younger, my dad would stop by to pickup some buns and drinks before I was dropped off to school. Now that I am an adult and live nearby, I've made a habit of frequenting this place every week or so purely bc of cravings. This review is strictly about the food and nothing else. Some of the highlights include: BBQ pork bun: a soft baked bun with sweet glazing overtop and filled with bbq pork meat goodness! The bun to meat ratio is perfect. The meat filling is generous considering how much they charge. Always a fan favorite when my husband brings buns to work for special office meetings. Cocktail bun: a sweet dessert bun with coconut sugary filling topped with sweet glazing and two stripes of sugary goodness. This one is heavier on the sweetness but if you have a sweet tooth like me, you would love this! Egg tart: this is a sweet custard surrounded by a flaky crust. The egg tarts here come very close to the infamous golden gate bakery's egg tart however the outer crust is slightly more powdery in texture than flaky compared to its rival. But overall this is still really good and the egg is subtly sweet. If you don't want to drive over to CT and wait in line, I think this place warrants a try for your occasional cravings. Green onion bun: a soft twisted bun with seasoned green onions. This has no meat but is just as savory and delicious! Pineapple bun with egg custard: a soft rounded bun with sugar coating on top and subtly sweet egg custard innards. This bun is a modern twist on the traditional egg custard bun as the filling is not yellow but more creamy white. I personally enjoyed this bun but may not be everyone's favorite. Overall, I would recommend stopping by if you have cash and trying a few items as each bun is around a buck and change. read more

You are what you eat. With that said, I used to be called "bo lo bao" (pineapple bun) when I was a baby because my head was round like the bun. I stopped by around 1PM today, and ordered a pineapple bun ($0.50) and an egg tart ($0.60). Both were warm and delicious. The pineapple bun was very soft, moist, sweet and not as crumbly like it can be at other bakeries. It was also glazed.. with who knows what.. because it was very shiny. My review is based on the bakery itself, not the service. Although, service is lacking. Before Covid, the food was really good. The barbecue pork bun was baked golden brown and has lots if filling. The cocktail bun had a generous amount of coconut. Now, with the inflation, prices has risen. Which I totally get. But to reduce the portion to half is unacceptable. The last visit was horrible. Came in to get a cocktail bun, minus the coconut filling. I almost went back to see if they gave me the right order. Not until I bit into the very center I had a small amount of filling. Use to come here all the time for their cake or their buns. I only came here since my mom asked me to buy some buns for a party we were having. Their buns and cakes are always at a reasonable prices. I got about 12 variety type buns for my family party for the cost $9.90. Not bad of a price for the among of buns that i got. You can eat your buns at this place since they do have tables and chairs but i usually get mines to go. The staffs are usually friendly when i do visit this place. Come here for fresh buns! I've stopped by around lunch and in the late afternoon on different occasions, and the buns always tasted fresh. My favorite is the pineapple bun, which is always pillowy soft and mildly sweet. The sweet and crusty topping tastes great! The cocktail buns here were also good. If you're looking for Hong Kong-style milk tea, get it from here instead of Geneva Bubble Tea next door. The milk tea here was fresh and had a strong tea flavor, which can't be said for Geneva Bubble Tea's pre-made milk tea. There was enough sweetness to enhance the tea rather than overpower it, something tea lovers would definitely appreciate. If you're into really sugary drinks, this milk tea isn't for you. There are a few tables inside, but most people just grab and go. The prices are cheap - just a couple of coins for each bun. I don't speak any Chinese dialect, but I'm glad to have gotten nice enough service here. They weren't especially friendly, but I've gotten smiles and thank you's, which is good enough for me.
