Who doesn't love genki sushi? It's a great place to grab a bite by yourself, family or pretty much with anyone. It's definitely one of those spots that locals really enjoy due to their convenience & multiple locations. I'm usually at the pearlridge location but since I was in the area, decided to grab lunch here with my family. It's been a few months since I've had genkis. When ordering, you have to scan a QR code. They also had a QR to link to their WiFi (it was quick & easy). The ordering system itself on your phone was a bit confusing. My family & i wanted to put it all on the same bill but use separate phones. We eventually gave up & just ordered off one phone. I didn't like how you had to enter your email & phone number. I felt like it was unnecessary but it's ok. Ok on to the food - My go to's are always the onion salmon, spicy ahi & soft shell crab. I noticed they had a special on mentaki salmon bite which is a 1 pc nigiri that came on a big piece of nori. It was very flavorful but was $4ish for 1pc, not exactly budget friendly. I also ordered the sukiyaki bowl as I was craving for it. The portion was extremely small. I felt like it was Keiki size. Don't get me started on the soft shell crab... it was small as well. I get inflation and everything is expensive these days but dang... I didn't realize how small the portions are here now. The nigiri to my surprise, were still big pieces of fish so that was great. The service here was reallly great compared to other locations. The servers seemed like they loved their job & constantly made sure we were ok. Overall, I love genki's. But it's not as affordable as it used to be. Definitely not a good bang for your buck. It wasn't a bad experience. Just crazy how much you can spend here, considering it's a more laid back establishment, But you can't really find anything like it.

Not sure if that was dirty, stained, or mildew/mold

Haven't visited for a bit. I was very surprised to see that the upkeep was lacking. I was unsure if the train cars that bring the food was dirty or had mildew/mold which caused concern. Service was not great this time around. We had to ask for individual dishes to put our wasabi in 3 times. We used the call button to get a refill of tea and it took both tables in our party to grab the workers attention. When pressing the button for the check that was another wait. The food is always ok nothing that wows and nothing that really disappoints. I did odred ramen to try it out and I wish the soup was served hotter. Just a personal preference, when I have soup I like it hot. It was warm, enough so that it was safe to feed my granddaughter immediately. Nothing wrong with that.

Yikes. Their portions went down while prices went up! The one thing that got me was them charging us .50 for a keiki cup! We thought it would be complimentary since we were dining in. My kiddo doesnt like drinking out of anything besides his own bottle so I wish they told us about the charge

This was always my go to location when I wanted genkis but my last couple visits has been going downhill. So second time I had to drop my rating... The service was terrible. Went in and got seated right away but anything after was terrible. Wanted refills on our drinks so we push the button and the waiter just stood in front too busy on his Apple Watch. Finally a lady came to refill waters for another table and she ended up helping us as well. At the end of our meal we push the button again to get the check and same thing. This time I saw our waiter look at the screen they have up front and turn off the notification or something because the lights stopped blinking and he then proceeded to go on his Apple Watch. We then pushed it again and he looked at their screen and walked away from it. Finally a lady came near us to clean a table so we asked her and she brought the check and the card reader. Worst service ever and quite frankly they're lucky I even left 15% tip... I shouldn't even have tipped with the service they provided. The food... it was coming out quickly but some things were obviously not fresh. The stuffed mushrooms were cold and some other fried dishes weren't hot. The fish was ok but it lacked flavor. Spicy tuna was bland along with a lot of other dishes. Once my go to sushi spot, now I might have to stay away. I may give them one more try because they used to give the best service as you'd see in my original rating so hopefully they improve but if not, that would make it 3 strikes for me.

One of my go to fast food sushi spot. Went on a Friday and surprisingly it wasn't as busy as I thought it would be. Was instantly greeted and sat. Unfortunately the fryers were down so no Fried items. 3 stars because our baked muscle was pretty torched and one of the sushi specials did not look like the picture advertised. All in all it still good.

I placed an online order at 12:32, estimated time was 15 mins. Im on my way to genkis when I get a text message at 12:49 saying my order should be ready. I reached genkis around 1, walked to the register and no one's behind the counter. Waited another 5 mins while people just walk by looking at me not saying anything. Finally someone comes by and asked if I needed help. Order wasnt even ready till 1:30. Why even provide an estimated time or send a text if the order isn't even ready or close to being ready. No one even updates the orders.

$6 Fried Squid Combo. What in the shrinkflation?! Absolutely disappointing.
    Ashley M.

$6 Fried Squid Combo. What in the shrinkflation Genki Kapolei?! The portion was absolutely disappointing. This was more like a snack than a meal. The staff weren't overbearing, which I appreciated, and service was fine overall. But this Kapolei location portion-to-price ratio is awful. When you're paying sit-down prices for fast-food-sized servings, it really makes you think twice about coming back. Between the small serving sizes and the rising prices, this visit at this location left me feeling like Genki is banking more on the name than on value.

This Genki Sushi is located in Kapolei Commons next to Crumbl and Corepower Yoga. The parking lot is large and has never been an issue. Upon arriving to the restaurant, you can scan a QR code to put your name, number and party size and they will text you when your table is ready. We like to come early on the weekends or early for dinner because it does get busy and the wait can get long. We usually don't have to wait too long, especially if you save the QR code link and add your name when you're on your way there. They have lots of booths and counters in the restaurant, but sometimes will not fill the whole place if they are short staffed. Upon being seated you will receive a QR code where you can scan it and order via your phone. There are also plastic menus at the table. You can also order through your server if you choose to. Mostly everything you order comes by train tableside, but if it is a hot item or something special they will deliver it to your table. Some of our favorites to order is their spicy ahi because it's a little different than most places and we like the tanginess of the sweet chili sauce that they use in their ahi. Seafood dynamite has shrimp tempura inside with imitation crab salad on top, finished with torched garlic mayo and unagi sauce. Some fried items such as: agedashi tofu (lightly breaded crispy tofu in a savory sauce, fried squid and vegetable tempura (string beans, mushroom, eggplant, pumpkin). We like to wash it down with some hot green tea (per request). Price is average for the amount and quality that you get. Prices are by plate color and range from $1.95-$6.75. The service is pretty average, but it's not bad. Everyone is friendly and most of the time they're really good about checking on you. Overall, this place has been one of our go-to sushi spot in Kapolei for years and will definitely come back again and again.

Whenever I come back home to visit, Genki sushi is either my first stop or need to go on my first day. This place definitely changed in the past 3 years. Went around 4pm and got seated quickly. No iPads to order so I figured the staff were going to take our order. Waited 5 mins still no one checking on us so I had asked how do we order and replied, you need to scan the barcode and order on your phone (I thought it's just a menu). So tried ordering, internet wasn't loading so I called someone again and told them it's not loading can they just take my order which they did. Food is always good, a lot of rice in the nigiri which got me fool real quick. Other than the service everything looked the same. I wish they had the iPad and belt still. That was the best part. Not sure if other locations has it.

He was nice enough to give me his uni nigiri and I inhaled that in .2 two seconds. We also got the kumbo tempura. We love that the place has a belt. You can also have minimal person free experience with it. Everything is done on the touchpad so you don't really have to talk to anyone if you don't have special requests. Wait time wasn't long at all, and there are plenty of tables inside, making it great for groups. My go to is always the spicy miso broth. Super tasty with great flavor and the perfect level of spice without being overwhelming. The meats are high quality and come in good portions, which makes the experience even better. The buffet bar is the same setup as the first location, with a wide variety of noodles, vegetables, additional meats and seafood, plus tons of sauces to customize your meal. So many options to choose from. I really enjoy their fish ball and raw eggs that I can cook with the ramen! I wouldn't skip the original fried chicken. It's so good we had to order more than five bowls of them! Crispy, flavorful sauce, and totally addictive. Service was fast and the servers were very attentive throughout our meal. Overall, an excellent experience and I'm so glad we now have a Shabuya closer to home. Highly recommend!

Finally decided to try Shibuya after driving past it for over two months. Unfortunately, it was a…read morebit disappointing. The first thing we noticed was how loud it was. It made it hard to hear the server's instructions or even ask for things. Our waiter also kept forgetting items we requested. We ordered drinks, and even though the restaurant wasn't busy, it still took about 10 minutes to get them. The meat was okay, but it was sliced incredibly thin--so thin you could practically see through it. It wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't anything special. The biggest issue, though, was how they charged for kids. My daughter is 10 years old. After we had already finished eating, they asked her to stand next to a height marker to determine whether she qualified for the kids' price. Because she's tall for her age, they charged her the full adult price. That just doesn't make sense to me. If your policy is based on age, say 10 and under or 12 and under, that's fair. But using height? Some kids are naturally tall, and others are short. My daughter is only about 80 pounds--she's still very much a kid. Charging a child an adult price because of their height feels like a cheap way to squeeze out a few extra dollars. I don't blame the staff. I blame the management and the owners. If you don't empower your employees to make good decisions and set clear standards, the customer experience is never going to rise above mediocre. As someone who's worked in the food industry and has been a manager, I know it starts at the top and trickles down. Overall, the food was decent, but nothing memorable. Between the loud atmosphere, inconsistent service, and the way they handled the kids' pricing, I don't see myself coming back. I'm not sure if this is a locally owned business or a large corporation, but either way, it just didn't have that aloha spirit that makes you want to return. There are plenty of other places with the same concept that offer better service, better presentation, and a better overall experience. We won't be coming back, and we won't be recommending it to anyone.
