Our first time at Geoffrey's and it did not disappoint! Our server, Will, was extremely catering and helpful. From the get go, he suggested items that we should order and was very attentive. The ambiance is beautiful and the view is spectacular. Food was delicious, very reminiscent of resort style food but better and tastier. I had the best birthday brunch with my friends at Geoffrey's!! We had the best table and the most gorgeous view of the ocean! There was champagne chilling at our table and was told by our server that it's a birthday gift from a friend, and surprised us with two more wine bottles! We ordered different things so we can taste a little bit of everything and they were all so delicious! They even gave me a birthday dessert which was so nice!! Afterwards, we were told there's a stairway down to the beach, so we took our heels off and walked down. It was an easy path and great way to see the beach without the crowds. read more

Highly disappointed with food. Fish was dry, steak fries came out warm and paella was mediocre. Based on the price, I expected more. If I came blindfolded, food could have been from $-$$ restaurant. Service was awkward and confusing. Our waiter was very friendly and nice but forgot the little things we asked for. Even admitted they forgot and brought them late or asked if we still needed it--quite strange, I never had this asked "if I still need it". I really wanted to like this place. We pulled in on a busy holiday weekend (without a reservation) and gave the car keys to a FRIENDLY VALET who had amazing driving skills, considering the steep parking lot. We were greeted by four darling young people as we entered. They were fun and sweet and, to our surprise, they FOUND US A TABLE RIGHT AWAY. We noticed PLENTY OF OCEAN VIEWS from almost anywhere in the restaurant and were not disappointed with the table we were given. The FOOD WAS FANTASTIC, especially the Scallops, which were probably the best I've ever had. They were super fresh and cooked perfectly. We also enjoyed the Thai Salmon salad and Coconut Shrimp. All delicious. KUDOS TO THE KITCHEN STAFF. The HARD-WORKING WAIT STAFF was friendly and efficient. Our waiter coordinated with the kitchen on the timing of the courses and they DIDN'T MISS A BEAT. The appetizers and main courses were timed out perfectly. ADAM made sure to check on us regularly and we couldn't have been happier with his attentiveness. It's been more than 20 years since I was last here. Back then, it was a popular Sunday brush and a romantic evening date place with beautiful ocean views. Not much has changed since except the menu has been updated. The service was courteous and efficient. The quality of the food was as good as I remembered. The coconut shrimp was crunchy and served with a sweet plum dipping sauce. The lobster Cobb was equally delicious with the lobster poached perfectly. The Geoffrey's paella is a soupy version of the usual counterpart. It's still tasty but just be aware it's more like a wet cioppino risotto dish than a paella. This was our first time back in years. We celebrated our anniversary at a beautiful table overlooking the ocean. I definitely recommend starting off with the Baked Brie. If you do this save the rosemary roll they give you because it would be delicious with it. I opted for the Filet Mignon. The steak was ok but the sides could use more seasoning. My husband had the Paella and said it was just ok as well. The service was outstanding. The hosts, servers, and valet were very friendly and accommodating. My husband had the spicy margarita and loved it. I enjoyed an iced tea because the non alcoholic choices were non existent. They brought us a little scoop of ice cream for our anniversary. We had childhood friends visit from the east coast and took them to Geoffrey's, one of our favorite special occasion and out of town visitor spots. We were seated in a gorgeous part of the outdoor patio, with the pacific ocean right in front of us. There are stairs leading directly down to the beach where you can end your delicious meal with a stroll on the beach. The service was impeccable. The waiter was attentive and informative, without being over bearing. We were there for lunch, before we could ask, and as soon as the sun was shining over our table we were asked if we would like the umbrella up....such great service. The food was all delicious. We had the watermelon salad, salmon salad, crab benedict and crab cakes, along with a few glasses of sauvignon blanc, which the waiter brought out a few samples to help us make our choice. I recently went for the first time and this restaurant exceeded my expectations. There's valet parking, gorgeous ocean views, outdoor seating, friendly staff, portions are perfect, romantic and chill spot to enjoy a delicious meal and watch the sunset on a heated patio surrounded by green lush plants. We started with crab cakes, coconut shrimp, and a lychee martini- all amazing! If they have steelhead trout the day you go- try it! It comes with crispy skin, mashed potatoes, and greens in a yellow curry sauce. I wasn't sure what to expect but wow- everything tasty so good together! Words cannot describe how amazing this dish was. The potatoes and curry sauce were super creamy, and the fish looked and tasted like salmon but better. We also ordered the rib eye steak, which was gigantic and perfectly cooked medium rare. It came with mashed potatoes and salad. Our 3rd entree was the swordfish, with fingerling potatoes and greens- another tasty light and healthy dish. For dessert- we shared one of my faves- crème brûlée. It came with sliced strawberries. My wife had a caesar salad coupled with an appetizer of freshly steamed mussels. I indulged in the coconut shrimp and helped her with all those mussels lol. We ordered the watermelon and cucumber margarita which was very tasty with an exotic blend and left us wanting more. Our entrees were definitely delicious. My wife ordered the scallops and I ordered the Surf and turf. The steak was prepared exactly how I wanted it and the lobster was soooooo fresh..... Ok you are probably wondering still, why not 5 stars... Well unfortunately, while sitting at the table we were never greeted by our server or asked for the basics like a glass of water. I had to inquire with another server if they knew we were there. He stated "she is coming" it was so uncomfortable - my wife and I considered leaving but we were hungry and celebrating our anniversary. When our server finally came we noticed she catered to other tables WAY more than us and never asked until the end - if we needed anything extra or another drink. We had a reservation for a birthday and were excited for the ocean-view ambience. Instead, the experience felt indifferent from the start. When we arrived, five staff members were at the host stand, but no one acknowledged us for several moments--hardly the welcome you expect for a celebration. We were then seated at at the middle table with no view and people constantly walking by us. I politely asked about switching to one of several open ocean-side tables, but was told those were "for parties of four" and that our table was the only option. No offer to wait for a better table was made. About five minutes later, another couple was seated at an ocean-side corner table. Food was good--competently prepared but nothing to write home about--roughly what you'd expect at this price point. Our server was kind, and the manager checked on us multiple times to make sure the food was okay. That professionalism is why this review is 2 stars instead of 1. For the price and setting, I expected a warm greeting and a reasonable effort to accommodate a birthday reservation. Unfortunately, neither happened. I sent 4 emails over 4 weeks in February for a 130pm graduation lunch for 20 people in May, with no response. I called about 3 times finally got her on the phone and the restaurant was sold out and the only time they had was 10am! Completely unhelpful she also priced $265 a person plus a $2800 space rental fee?? Amazing time at Geoffrey's! This is the restaurant that I bring all out-of-towners for many reasons: the food, the ambience, the drive to the restaurant from Santa Monica. I highly recommend making reservations just before sunset. Nothing beats a Malibu sunset and Geoffrey's is positioned on top of a hill overlooking the ocean which puts you in direct view of the sunset. Literally breathtaking. Parking can be crazy over here so I recommend doing valet. It's around $12 or so. The food-- My Gosh! The 2lb main lobster was totally worth and and to die for. The head of the lobster was stuffed with mashed potatoes. And the sauce used was amazing! The seafood paella was filling and seasoned very well. Two dishes I highly recommend. Service wasn't the greatest this night and I was a bit disappointed because it was my friends birthday (came from NY). It took 15 min for a server to even come to our table and then we felt very rushed when ordering. We didn't let this get to us but it definitely took away from the entire experience. Still packed with lunch patrons we were given a very desirable table against the glass railing nearest the seaward view. Service was prompt, friendly, professional, and personable. The Americano and cappuccino as well as the regular coffee were all good. The rosemary bread rolls with whipped butter also good. Appetizers were the crab cake and coconut shrimp. Both very well designed/balanced. Entirely delicious. Tried the corn chowder out of curiosity and it also was very good. Scallops and paella for the entrees. Again very well prepared. Beautiful quality seafood and sauces. Well portioned. We also tried two of their mocktail offerings and both were excellent. The food was pretty good. The bread and butter was a delicious way to start off the meal. We got the beet salad, sea bass, and bread pudding. The least favorite item was the sea bass. The mango and ginger marmalade was a bit much on the top of the delicate dish and could have been done without. The bread pudding was amazing though. We have a weakness for bread pudding and this dessert is well worth it here. The views were spectacular and we had the chance to sit with an uninterrupted view of the water during sunset. Can't beat that! Service could have been better - we asked the waiter 3+ times to turn on the heater because it was getting super cold and no one came to turn it on. We just ended up figuring out how to turn it on ourselves and the table next to us (who was a large group) thanked us for finally turning it on. Funny enough when we actually turned on the heater and employee immediately came over to see what was going on and to check on the heater. Our waiter also thought he gave us the wrong drinks and asked us to taste it to see if it was the right wines. I understand it's busy, but for a restaurant that is charging this much for food and an automatic 4% in addition to each bill, I would've expected better service. We made reservations when we went to this place for brunch on Saturday. We ended up getting a table with some really nice views. Our server quickly greeted us and was helpful in selecting and recommending some of his favorite dishes. We had a few restrictions (vegetarian) and the menu was pretty accommodating. Both of us ordered a few drinks to start off the morning. I went with a Malibu Lava Flow because I'd had never heard of this, and when in Malibu, why not? We were served this bread with some butter as well, and it did taste pretty good but we didn't want to get too stuffed for our main courses. We ordered a Shiitake Omelette and a Chocolate Chip Marbled Challah French Toast. The omelette had some roasted potatoes and fresh fruit. The French toast had a pork and chicken sausage (put on a separate plate) and fresh fruit. As we enjoyed (and split) both of our meals, we enjoyed our views as it was a little sunny. The food was delicious and if I'm ever in Malibu again, I'd love to drop by and try some other dishes! read more

I know most people come here to watch the sunset and enjoy the ocean breeze, but I did appreciate the flavors their food offered also. The corn chowder was creamy and delicious w a small crab cake on top. The tartar was also good, but nothing super special. I loved the scallop dish; it was cooked to perfection and the risotto complemented it perfectly. The swordfish was good, but the fish was a touch tough imo. Bread pudding was a great way to finish the meal. The views are obviously great, but we missed the sunset as we were unfortunately seated the wrong way. While there's not really a bad table, I will say that some tables are better located than others. Our waitress was very kind and checked on us frequently. They do charge for flat water so ask for tap if you wish to avoid it. The valet is affordable at $12, but if you're lucky enough you may be able to find street parking close enough. Overall, we had a good experience here! The food was good and the views were beautiful. There's also plenty of heaters for the large patio! We secured a last minute reservation late on a Saturday afternoon. That was appreciated and the valet was absolutely fantastic. We were a party of three (plus a small dog) and my mother is disabled. The valet treated her as well as he would his own abuelita. Thank you for that. Once we got to the table, we seemed kind of an afterthought. We were sat at a table back in a corner, hard to access, two chairs and nothing else on the table. We managed to get another chair. But, we sat there for 15 minutes (yes I ended up timing it) before someone came to say hello, give us menu. Lots of waiters around, just not paying much attention to us. We were too far out of the way to make eye contact. We did finally get service, but it seemed like waiters needed to go out of their way to serve us. They didn't, however, hesitate when they wanted us out. We were asked twice, as we're still finishing our dessert, for our valet ticket. we didn't. What kind of sandwich are you having? Food was very good to excellent as usual. We come for the view and cuisine. But the lack of service and rush to get us out made it a more mediocre experience. Maybe it was because we were not dressed to impress and drove a Subaru. The Lamborghinis and Aston Martins must have been horrified that we didn't appear to be the type to dine at this establishment. I want to be clear: this rating is not for the servers or the food, both were outstanding. Our server was wonderful and the meal was excellent. Although the server brought us the wrong plate, he kindly offered to send it back but we accepted the plate as is. My issue is with the host, Bella, whose conduct was unprofessional and unacceptable. We arrived around 6:30 PM and asked to be added to the list. Bella asked, "For dinner?" When we said yes, she looked us up and down and told us the restaurant was full for the night, even though roughly 95% of the tables were empty. We left, called the restaurant, and spoke with Jordan, who was friendly and immediately booked us a 6:45 PM reservation, just 15 minutes after we were supposedly turned away because there were no more available reservations. When we returned and stated we had a reservation, Bella began whispering to a colleague, and a manager ultimately seated us. We were shocked. We weren't in formal attire, but we were dressed appropriately. Meanwhile, the couple ahead of us wearing Nike slides had no trouble being seated. It was not about dress code; it was about how we were perceived and treated. Bella's attitude was dismissive and discriminatory, and it completely undermined the otherwise high standards of service and hospitality we experienced. For a restaurant with such strong reviews and a high-end reputation, her behavior did not reflect that. No guest should feel unwelcome or judged at the door. From the valet, the the hostess, to our server. Everyone was very professional, friendly, and left me with a comfortable feeling. We were sat at a corner table, overlooking the ocean. What a fantastic view we had. We began our meal with a Coconut shrimp appetizer. The shrimp was huge and tasted amazing. We were also served very tasty hot bread rolls. I ordered the Swordfish which was fantastic. A wonderful piece of fish that was cooked perfectly. My wife ordered the Chilean sea bass which was equally good and came with this very nice sauce. Valet parking is $12 and takes some time to get your car upon leaving. The service is about as good as it gets. My favorite dish was the pan seared Chilean Sea Bass. My favorite cooked fish. Tender and buttery. The sides were amazing. The scallops were large and delicious. 3 was the perfect number. You can add an extra scallop and use the dish as an appetizer depending on the amount of people. I went medium more rare. Perfect. One star is taken for the tuna tar tar. Not sure why that is still on the menu. Flavor is off and the tuna is grey. (See pic) I will still come back but reminder to self to never order again.
