I rarely write reviews, but I needed to for this business. I met a friend here for dinner and he said our "server", Ana had been ignoring him prior to my arrival and he was frustrated. I didn't know anything about our waitress nor she did not speak to us at all. She finally asked if I wanted a drink and after finishing, she never came back to check up on us. She constantly passed our table and did not make any contact with us..... at all. At this point, I wanted to switch servers. I had never experienced anything like this in my life. I used to come here all the time but after today, that will not be happening. We weren't even asked if we wanted to place a food order. My time is precious and I wasn't going to wait anymore. We closed out and chose a different restaurant for dinner. I didn't realize we would have to ASK for service while dining. This is our favorite ravens barn Chicago. Granted it might be the only ravens burger that I know in Chicago. Every time I go end up seeing somebody I know from back home and every face is friendly. The staff has been the same every time I've gone, all extremely friendly all extremely helpful. They've added a small breakfast menu to accompany the lunch menu and it's been great to have the choice when we go in early for games of what meal we want to eat. The room is electric during the games, everyone is united for the same team. It's fun to come together with fans or people from Baltimore and root for a number one team! Although I am sad to see the reviews here are obviously padded with fakes (please don't do that GSP, I know you are new and all, but it just makes you look like jerks) I have to give a legit 5 stars for our experience last weekend. The interior is very welcoming and comfortable (even though every seat in the joint is bar stool height, which is normally every irritating for me) and they have a freaking massive patio in the back which I cant wait to see once it is open. Good, broad selection of beers, both on tap and bottled. If I could give one suggestion it would be to please put the prices on the drink list. Especially if you have a mix of $4 beers and $12 ones. I would have been pretty sore had I inadvertently ordered a couple of pricey beers without knowing it until the check arrived. We ordered the Hand dipped chicken strips, which were about 6-7 nicely coated, good size pieces. Juicy and with a nice overall flavour. However, my favourite part of the dish was the blue cheese sauce, which was obviously made in house. A thick, delicious sauce that had a nice addition of dill. Unique, and definitely amped up what would normally be just a basic bar dish. I then opted for the gsp mini burgers, which were three mini burgers with pub sauce and pickles served on butter buns. Burgers were good, but with the huge side of waffle fries given it was impossible to eat it all. (Note: burgers and fries are less than stellar the next day) We also had good service, with someone whom I can only assume was the manager, coming by to ask how we were doing and if everything was OK. All in all a good place. If I lived closer I would definitely come back on a regular basis. read more

Updated my review from the first time (which was only a few weeks after they opened). Clearly, they got it down pat this time. Their beer menu expanded. It got better and they slapped on the prices, too(Which I may add are awesome)! I've never seen such good beers for such good prices. Seriously. They had about 2 pages, plus a "new" beer list, or maybe seasonal. Any way, it was much improved. The service was attentive and it was hoppin inside. This time, I got the GSP salad with chicken, apples, grapes, mandarin oranges and walnuts with a strawberry yogurt dressing--that tasted exactly like yogurt. Solid bar in Lakeview! This place has cold drinks and really great bar food. Highly recommend the dipped chicken fingers (they don't come with fries though). Been coming here for years. At first, we came because it was a Baltimore bar. Eventually, our friends who are fans of other teams (bears, lions) joined us because it had good drafts, great food, and good service on game days. Now, I get no arguments when this is my suggestion for weekday evenings, patio drinking summer days, or basically anything at all. Tl;dr: great bar with quality food. Love george street! read more

I'm glad this bar replaced Union. I never went there mostly because it looked hella-sketchy. G.S.P. is nicely decorated and just feels "comfortable". There are plenty of TVs so you don't miss any action. The lady and I went for a Big10 tournament game and the bartender changed one of the TVs for us without hesitation. Even though she couldn't figure out how to change the channel at first, she didn't get frustrated or say "sorry, too bad". Props. They have a better than average tap list, but my one gripe is that the prices weren't listed. Now, if they were all $5 that's fine, but I noticed that domestics were listed next to high end craft brews... so I doubt they're all $5. As it turns out, we had Lagunitas IPA for $4...BULLY! For some reason the bar has chosen to include several seafood items along with the normal bar food you'll find on any lincoln park/lakeview bar menu. I approve this with a very polite golf-clap. For those of you who know the difference, I ordered the jambalaya, but it was more like gumbo. However, it was DAMN good. Scramps, andouille sausage, corn bread, rice, and a spicy sauce. I'd do it again for $12. Overall, this is a place I'd definitely come back to have dinner. I'm not sure about "going out" here though. Doesn't seem to give off that vibe. However, for dinner & drinks before getting plastered down the street?... solid. **One random thing... There is a small box at the end of the bar that beeps REAL loud every time there is a pickup from the kitchen. I Came here in Super Bowl Sunday and had a good time. The bartenders are friendly and they had some good specials for light beer. I stuck with the specials tonight but there craft list was extensive and diverse. I was pleasantly surprised with the food too! They had a buffet for the super bowl for $10 so I figured why not. A-OK is the perfect description for this place! I stopped in one night to catch a game on TV and to grab a beer with friends. Plenty of room at the bar right in front of the TV. Score! It was a nice night so the windows were open to the street which is always a plus for me.But the best place to sit is out on the back patio . . .too bad my friends were set on sitting at the bar as it looked great out there! While the night started off slow with the bartender busy with friends at the other end of the bar, once he figured out that we were there for the long haul- he was much more attentive- even giving us a "heads up" that one of the patrons was leaving so we could grab a stool for my friend who had been left standing. The evening for me ended when one in our group started to order up rounds of shots . . .first tequila, then Jameson . .then, well who knows what, as this smart girl had to work the next day so she left with a smile on her face! We didn't eat but the people next to us did and their food looked pretty good. Will definitely have to try it on the next go around. Street parking was surprisingly easy as well. I was surprised as we were sitting at the bar.... If the service would have been more attentive, I definitely would have ordered another glass of wine, but alas.... Last night a group of us went to GSP for dinner and drinks. The patio is absolutely stunning. What a gorgeous place to eat and relax with friends. The service is spot on! The owners clearly care about their staff, their customers and their overall professionalism in their establishment. George Streep pub was a solid 3 star pub. It was good, but there was nothing truly standout that differentiates it all that much from other pubs in the area. It's a good local option, garden looks nice (but it's cold out right now). I had a pint and the GSP (George Street Pub) burger. The burger was the highlight of the meal because it's a burger stuffed with chorizo and some other items. It did stand out and was good. Unfortunately I got it with some soup which seemed like it'd come straight from a can. My girlfriend got a burger with pesto and cheese which was pretty good but the fries it came with were pretty lackluster. If you're looking for a decent local option, GSP fits, but there are some other pubs in the area I'd probably rather go to. read more

If I had all the time in the world and money to spend, I would probably hang out here on a daily basis like those How I Met Your Mother peeps. GSP has that casual, welcoming feeling that all those TV shows project but you didn't think was possible in real life. Favorites include: Stiegl Radler grapefruit beer, burgers, garlic-y hummus, half-price wine Mondays, omelets with fantastic breakfast potatoes, pesto bruschetta, Bloody Marys with candied bacon.. it goes on and on, much like the storyline of HIMYM (Sidebar: am I the only one that's getting increasingly impatient with that show??) Bonus: one time I came here craving loaded french fries like no other, but it wasn't on the menu. We asked our server to check if the kitchen would be willing to make it an appetizer for our group and they happily obliged. They went all out for us! My mini gsp burgers was good, and loved steak nachos. It was so delicious. I enjoyed sitting by the window as well. However, our waitress was very odd.. I wasn't sure if she had a bad day, but she had this "whatever" attitude the whole time. For example, we asked if the nacho is shareable, and she goes "why not" with rolling her eyes. What part of my question was so annoying that made her to roll her eyes? Later, I asked "we will have another round of drinks" and she goes "oh? sure. I guess I am sorry? " This weird interaction was so consistent. I really wanted to say something, but my friend didn't want to cause any scene. It's a new place right near my friend's apartment and it was open Easter Sunday night. The place looked like it was about to close up but our bartender said we were good to come in so we sat there, caught up and watched the replay of the Hawks game and talked to our bartender about the Hawk's chances. They have Two Brother's Domaine Dupage on there, which is one of my local faves and since I wouldn't have it for a while ended up drinking three. I got pretty hungry while we were there so I ordered the mini burgers, which were really good. The little burgers held a lot of flavor, with a little bit of sweetness to it. Another friend of mine came in and ordered the buffalo wings, which were good apparently. I was too full to eat but my buddies finished them off in quick order. At this point, it was time for a shot according to my friend Scott and we all had a round of Marker's Mark. During the course of our evening the bartender called for another round of shots for us and I got to pick the Templeton Rye-he was really knowledgeable about it and obliged my request for playing The Black keys over the speakers. Of course, before I left we had to do another round of shots because "Jesus would want us to."-our bartender. I had a great, laid back time here and look forward to coming back here to catch up when I'm back in town. GSP is awesome!!! A small group of us came for brunch yesterday all very hungover and in need of some grub. We all of course started with the bacon bloody Mary. OMG that candied bacon was out of this world. Bloody Mary was so-so. None of us could decide what to order because the entire menu looked amazing. I had the GSP burger with waffle fries. Basically a large burger stuffed with bacon, onions and chorizo topped with cheese. Three others got the crispy chicken, bacon and ranch sandwich, another the ham and cheese sandwich and another had the chicken tenders. No complaints, everyone loved their food. We got the bill and a couple of people took off but the rest of us wanted to drink some more... We loved GSP so much that we stayed until 10pm at night. We went through just about every beer on the menu, car bombs, lunch boxes, Washington apple shots, goldschlagger shots, etc. We were feeling good... I joked that I was going to enjoy both brunch and dinner that and guess what, we ended up ordered spinach and artichoke dip and a plate of fries to hold us over from all the boozing. The server Chris was so fun and we chatted with him the whole time. We got our bill and went on the restaurant.com app on my iphone and purchased the $100 gift certificate coupon for $12 with a coupon code... what a deal. Great selection of beers here. The atmosphere is definitely lively, and the music is fantastic (my group of friends and I were singing some of the songs). I also really liked the outdoor seating, as well as the numerous flat-panel televisions lining the walls. This way I could watch anything I wanted to while enjoying my beer. The best part, though, was the food. We ordered the calimari and the pita bread with hummus. The calimari was fantastic. It was tender, juicy, and it came with both cocktail sauce and a sweet marmalade. The marmalade made all the difference, because it was delicious!. What a fantastic neighborhood pub with a very nice beer garden. I love the outdoor patio, with fantastic screens for viewing college football - but without all the college students! The patio is family friendly and a generally nice way to spend the afternoon or early evening. The food is solidly good - don't know if it's all the way gastropub, but it is good. Service is also friendly, attentive and down to earth - very pleasantly surprised. Very nice beer selection as well - I LOVE seasonal pumpkin brews, and I was again pleasantly surprised at the selection offered on their seasonal menu - both in draft and can/bottle form. Large patio with TV screens outside. Not too loud or obnoxious. Great people and DOG watching. I saw everything from a chihuahua to a great dane! (The website says Dog friendly patio Monday and Tuesday, but was there Sunday, and there were still doggies everywhere) Food is good, more waffle fries you could ever imagine. Reasonable prices. Easily split a sandwich - the po'boy walleye split looked like a fulls sized meal. George Street's got some pretty good food for pub food and it's not terribly pricey either! I liked the spinach and artichoke dip which comes with pita bread and celery. Their appetizers are fairly large so it's great for splitting. Loved the pear cider. Quick, friendly service. They also have an excellent seating area in the patio on a nice day. Don't know if I caught it on a good day but they were playing good country music which is an automatic +++ for me. They updated their menu so I have to update my review. When I first came here, the salads seemed like an afterthought they put on the menu because they felt they had to, but they were made like they are at subway - clearly with ingredients that were meant for something else thrown together with some dressing. That is NOT the case anymore! After the menus changed, I tried the buffalo chicken salad and it was possibly the singular greatest salad I've ever had - so much so that I couldn't stop thinking about it all week and ended up coming back for it again. We love George Street! We love to come here just casually for dinner and drinks. They have an expansive beer list, so the drinking is easy. One of the few bars I go to regularly that has my favorite, Matilda. They also have a nice patio for when the weathers nice. This bar is good for game watching or just hanging out in general. The food is pretty basic, but they have a lot of good options to choose from. I got the Greek salad and my boyfriend got a jalapeño chicken dish. Go for half off wine on Monday! read more
